Lukas Mikel Behr was born in Kiel within the state of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.  His father is a shipbuilder in the port and his mother is an opera singer in the nearby Hamburg State Opera.  His brother instructs Marine Sciences at the University of Kiel and his sister followed their mother’s performing footsteps to become a ballerina.  Growing up, Lukas took an interest in the old American West and he found a local ranch to learn as much as he could. When he began competing in rodeos, his parents put a stop to the fantasy and directed him toward less dangerous sports.  Lukas became a star pitcher for his school’s baseball team and also played football as quarterback. The youngest of the Behr children attempted a semester at the University of Kiel and decided that academics were not really for him. He applied to Starfleet Academy and was admitted the following year.

A transporter malfunction on Earth resulted in the death of his immediate family.  His four year old niece, Bodie and Lisette’s child, jumped off the pad and was spared.  A living will transferred guardianship to Lukas over Adelina.

Starfleet Background
Lukas entered the Academy a year later than normal but was still accepted by his peers.  He desired to follow his father’s footsteps and get into starship construction but could not grasp the advanced mathematics and theories.  His counselor found he still had a sharp mind that was simply wired better for Operations and Tactical theory. The cadet took classes in both areas and could not choose one department to commit to, so he studied both.  While he was discovered to have a natural affinity for piloting, he was not pressed to join the Nova Squadron. Lukas graduated at the middle of his class and was assigned to Outpost Phoenix as an Operations officer with the notation that he could fill in at Tactical/Security if needed.

Prior to his arrival at Outpost Phoenix, an incident on Starbase 137 resulted in Lukas spending a night in the brig.  A barkeeper accused him of running out on a tab and while he returned to pay the debt, the proprietor insisted on having Lukas arrested.  The charges were dropped the next morning.

Psychological Profile
“Cadet Behr is a well rounded individual.  He gets along well with his peers and is praised by instructors for his work ethic.  A dry sense of humor could lead to difficulty in social situations but his confidence will help overcome any awkwardness.  There are no special recommendations for Lukas. He will be an asset to any crew.” - Lieutenant Commander Reqina Hadgermen, SFA Psychological Services

“Lieutenant Behr has exhibited behaviors of withdrawal after a tragic loss.  It is incomprehensible that Phoenix does not employ a counselor to assist her officers in such a time of need.  He has refused to speak with me and I am concerned for his emotional well-being.” - Doctor Johanna Lindell, Farpoint Station
