T'Vait is the only child of T'Sak and Stros (both living), civil engineers in the Raal province of Vulcan. She did well in school, excelling in suppressing her emotion and calmly mediating discussions. She found the emotion-negating philosophy of Kolinahr came naturally to her and at 19 her parents requested that she be enrolled as a disciple of Strevitt, a master of Kolinahr in Vulcan's capital city of ShirKahr. She spent five years focusing on self-mastery and the study of ethical thought, culminating in her completion of the Kolinahr ritual, purging all remaining unnecessary emotion.
At this point, T'Vait requested her parents' consent to join Starfleet, convinced that the way of Kolinahr should be shared with the cultures of Earth and other Federation planets. In order to best help those who need the ability to balance their emotions, T'Vait took on the study of Psychology. She excelled in the memorization of required texts and her ability to calmly listen endeared her to the patients she took on during the short practicum. Due to slightly lower grades in her assessments of patients, she graduated magna cum laude.
