Ruari was born in the Provence of Kerry, Ireland. Her town is Knights Town. Its very close to the Dingle Bay. Her parents were from Kells, Kerry.  Her mother is Diedre and her father is Sean. Ruari was their only child.  Shortly after they were married, Sean had just excepted a position on Luna as a scientist.  The two located there. Then it was discovered that Diedre was pregnant. The pair were excited and couldn't wait to tell Sean's parents who were vacationing on Risa. While on their way there, the ship encountered a stellar storm.  They were tossed about and an energy field passed through the ship. No one was injured.  The ship made it through with only minor damage. The two made it to Risa and shared the happy news.  They then returned to Luna to finish Sean's job.  As it got closer to her due date, the two moved back to Ireland.  Diedre gave birth on May 7, the Beltain time of the year to a baby girl.  They named her Ruari Aine.  Ruari means Red Haired King.  Ruari was born with very red hair. They also noted silver streaks that were found  around her face.  No doctor could explain it.  They just grew to except this. 

As Ruari grew older it became more evident that there was something different about her.  It didn't take long before they realized that she was telepathic.  They had her tested.  No one knew why. Some of the elders of the village whispered that she was feye. Her skills grew as she grew older. She tries not to use it. Blocking thoughts was the hardest to learn for her. 

The rest of her childhood she spent in Knights Town. She loved it there. Being by the water was the best.  

Interests: 

Ruari is an avid swimmer.  She also loves Irish music and uses it to relax with. She has learned to play the Tin whistle and the Bodhrans.  Since they are smaller she does keep them with her on her assignments.  As well as swimming she uses Tai Chi.  Keeps her flexible and relaxes her.

 

Ruari grew up, it was hard for her to decide what she wanted to do with her life.  Of course her father tried to convince her that she should be a scientist.  But she knew that was not the way for her. At least not on a full time basis.  It was thought that maybe counseling would be good, especially with her telepathic abilities.  But again she didn't feel that was for her. She didn't like to use her telepathy, especially that way. It felt like she was invading others minds. 

 

One day, Ruari ran into a friend of hers. During the time they were reconnecting, she found out that her friend was attending Starfleet Academy.  The more the two discussed it, the more it sounded interesting to Ruari.  She could be in a fresh place, no pressure from her parents and her abilities would be hidden verses here where everyone knew of her telepathy. 

 

So Ruari went back with her friend and started at the Academy.  She took her time to figure out what she wanted to do.  When it came time to decide, Ruari knew what she wanted.  She needed something that was diverse.  She decided to be posted to Operations.  Her background specialty is Communications. 

 

Ruari graduated and was assigned to the USS Lakota as Operations Officer.  She served there for 3 years and then was transferred to the USS Winter Solstice .  By the time she was done there, she was at the rank of First Lt. 

 

This was just before the Dominion war. Once the war started Ruari was quickly reassigned to USS Thomas Paine.  It wasn't long and the ship was in active battle.  It was a rough time.  During one of the  big battles that occurred, it had gone badly for the Thomas Paine.  The captain was killed immediately on the bridge.  The XO was injured and it wasn't sure if he would make it either.  By this time Ruari was 2XO.  She had to quickly take over the ship to save the rest of them.  She managed to get the ship out of the battle and limped its way back to star base.  The XO had made it and had recommended her for promotion for duty under fire.  She was promoted to Lt Commander with medal of valor.

 

Since the Thomas Paine was going to out of commission for quite awhile. Ruari was then reassigned to the USS Kitty Hawk.  This ship was destined to war as well.  But this time it was the Borg War.  The ship saw some battle but was doing well.  But there was one battle that was unforeseen.  During a routine sweep of the borders, the ship came across what looked like a damaged Borg War starship.   They carefully investigated.  But it didn't take long to figure out that this was a trap.  She was on the deserted Starship when a cube suddenly appeared and engaged the Kitty Hawk.  The ship was having a hard time. She made sure that the away team was beamed back, but due to the damage they could only beam back one at a time. Ruari was the last, they had a lock on her but she could see the Borg moving in for the final strike. She had to think fast and took the ship, making sure that the Kitty Hawk had a lock on her and programmed the Borg ship to fly at  warp to crash into the Borg Cube, thus destroying it and saving the Kitty Hawk. She just barely made it back.

 

After this she was promoted, proving herself again.  She decided she had enough of war for awhile. She took a posting on Earth at Academy.  The break was good.  But it wasn't long and she was restless to back in space.  She spoke to the Admiral and was told of a posting for an XO of the Space Station Nigala.  She was encouraged to take the posting but it didn't take long for her to decide to take the posting.
