Duty Log #1 - Ensign Dr. Nalavia Valdyr
After the briefing on the situation with the hostile alien ship, I headed to
Sickbay to prepare for possible injuries or casualties. As the only medical
officer on board, (Lt. Cmdr. Sarn and Lt. Gibbs were still being held
hostage), I remained in Sickbay until called to the Bridge to assist at Ops.
While at Ops I diverted power to the engines by re-routing from non-essential
systems. When Ensign Kate shut down life support on several decks, the
engines received the final power boost they needed, and
we were able to stop the enemy ship and rescue our personnel. At Ensign
Kate's suggestion, I beamed the away team directly to Sickbay. I then went
down to assist with the treatment of Lt. Gibbs, who had a concussion and
several fractures. After Dr. Sarn treated Gibbs, I brought food and talked
with the patient while Sarn recorded the case in the ship’s log.

for some reason we started chaseing there ship even though we got are away

When we arrived at the Array we noticed that the data stream was aimed and
welded in the wrong position. A romulan ship decloaked with in the next 20
minutes and several Romulans boarded the Array. They were attempting to
destroy it. The away team was able to be transported as well as the
Romulans, they were taken prisinor, I found their attempt to take the array
rather foolish, the out come was inevitable! The Romulan ship was disabled
when we let out a probe to flash some kind of light(I was on the
AT so I did not here the details of the probe) I handled the prisinors,
being that I am now chief of security, they will be taken to Earth and
possibley be tried as Prisonors of war. If we are'nt at a full war with the
Romulans now I don't know why and I think the chance at peace with them is
over.

<Begin Log>
Our new mission to the border of the Romulan space to fix an array, seemed
easy enough.......
However, I reported to duty with an extreme headache, which I had for the
past two days. After consulting with the ship's doctor, I was given some
drugs to ease it, however the headache persisted. I was a little out of it
and not in best form, but being a valuable science/enigeneering crewman, I
was sent on the away team to investigate.
While attempting to fix the array, a team of Romulans beamed onto the
array, and appeared to pose a hostile threat. Since I knew we were sitting
ducks, I proposed that we get ready to spring out at them. I hid behind a
desk, with phasers ready. Unfortunately, I am embarrassed to say, I am not
sure what happened next. My headache and dizziness over came me, and I
briefly passed out (I was punted).
When I came to, we were heading to were the Romulans were working.. they
were planning to sabotage the array, and destroy it with us on it!! I helped
by shooting a Romulan as he came around a corner towards us. The Romulans
then left, when they saw that they were no match for us. However, there was
a breach.... Kurn decided to stay and fix it while the others beamed back.
Since Kurn and I had worked so well on our previous mission, I decided to
stay behind and help. I was frantically working at
a panel, when acting captian Shodan had me and Neil beamed off the array.
I was distressed, but immediately rushed to engineering, where I monitered
Kurn's work, ready to offer him any assistance I could.
Kurn succesfully stopped the breach, and was beamed back aboard.
After this favorable completion of our mission, Shodan was in a good mood,
and with the permission of our captain, Scully, she promoted me to Leutenant
Jr. Grade (even though I can't spell it!). It was a nice ending to a good
mission (even though I was in somewhat of a daze for the beginning of our
mission).

STARDATE 9606.26
Commander Eileen Shodan
First Officer of the USF Roddenberry
BEGIN DUTY LOG
I was the acting commanding officer, due to the expected absence of Captain
Scully. We had been hailed by Admiral Johnston, who said, "our Array Cyonax
in sector 23452 is no longer feeding us data." We were ordered to
investigate.
This array is near the edge of the Romulan Neutral Zone.
Sarn took the helm tonight. We headed to the array and arrived PDQ. Neil,
at
Ops, picked up a Romulan warp trail. I declined to have us follow it because
our
mission was to repair the array. I sent Sarn, Kurn, Kate, and Neil over to
the
array to try to fix it. I had Gibbs take over at Ops and had Valdyr prepare
Sickbay
for possible incoming casualties (in case the Romulans showed up).
Kurn reported that the data stream had been redirected into Romulan space.
Suddenly, a Romulan ship decloaked and transported people to the array. I
ordered the Roddenberry to stay between the Romulan ship and the array so
that
the Romulans would be unable to fire upon the array. The Romulan ship hailed
us. Commander Tyrak informed us that they were doing scientific scans and
ordered us to withdraw immediately. I refused. Kurn discovered that the
Romulans on board the array were intent on sabotage. Neil was able to lock
out
Engineering (that was the location of the Romulans), however, the Romulans
were still able to breach the magnetic coils on the core. The array was
minutes
away from being destroyed. We could not maintain a transporter lock on the
away team.
A mysterious probe appeared near the array. The Romulan ship moved to it to
further investigate it (our sensors could tell us nothing about it,
therefore, theirs
couldn't either). The probe apparently did not like the Romulans scanning it
because it sent out some kind of energy beam that rendered the Romulan ship
helpless.
We were finally able to get a transporter lock on the away team. Kurn and
Sarn
requested staying on the array to try to contain the breach. Neil and Kate
were
beamed back, and so were two Romulans, who were immediately placed under
Security. With only seconds to spare, Kurn and Sarn were able to save the
array.
Kate was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade.

The Roddenberry was ordered to go to the neutral zone and find out why one
of our
arrays wasn't transmitting anymore..
As soon as we dropped out of warp it was apparent what had happened. The
Transmitter
had been welded into place pointing directly at the Romulan Empire.I beamed
over with Sarn,
Kate (on her first AT) and Neil.We shut down the transmitter untill we could
get it fixed.And
just when everything seemed okay a Romulan Warbird decloaked and began
beaming over
teams to the array. They immediatly headed for engineering to sabotage the
array.We headed
them off and after a brief firefight we ahd control of the array.Kate and
Neil beamed back to the
ship whille Sarn and I stayed behind to try and save the array from Romulan
sabotage.
Seconds away from destruction we saved the station and beamed back. The
Romulans left
Federation space, and we are on course for our next destination...

This mission began with an order from Starfleet to investigate an array on
the Romulan border that had stopped transmitting. As usual, the other
medical personnel were either on the away team (Sarn) or assissting on the
bridge (Gibbs), leaving me in charge of sickbay. After providing Ensign Kate
with some basic information regarding arrays, I spent most of the time
preparing to receive any possible casualties. Since a Romulan ship was also
on the scene, and there were Romulans on the array, I devoted
some time after my preparations to a crash course in Romulan physiology.
Thankfully, no one was injured, and the away team was able to thwart the
Romulan plan to blow up the array.

Today's mission began with a distress call issued by a Federation outpost
near the Romulan Neutral Zone. I decided to inventory Sickbay supplies to
prepare for any potential casualties. I discovered that Sarn and Gibbs had
broken a scalpel and tricorder during an off-hours game of darts. I repaired
the scalpel, and am having the tricorder sent to Engineering for repairs.
After a post-inventory snack break, I became unconscious for a short time,
during which a decision was made to send Commander Shodan to Romulan space.
I retrieved a small amount of a brain-activity altering drug to be
administered to the Romulans, and Sarn issued it to Shodan prior to her
departure.
I am eagerly awaiting word as to how the drug worked, as I am writing a
professional paper on Romulan neurophysiology for the upcoming Starfleet

Today we had one of the biggest battles ever to face the Roddenberry! We
were patroling the Border like many federation ships were. We discovered a
cloaked Romulan vessel. We hailed it and told it to leave federation space.
It responded with a few war like statements. Then we discovered that their
course were to Earth. After we began to engage the ship, more Romulan
vessels decloaked, as well as the U.S.S. Odyssey. (USF Klindt's Ship, who
joind us tonight) The Roddenberry seperated into the
saucer and battle sections. A long and damage full battle, and we won at
the end. After the destruction of the Romulan vessel a temperal rift occured
in space do to the massive explosion. We were able to tear away from its
vacuum. We then went to a Starbase for repairs.

Reported for the first time aboard the Roddenberry. Things seemed a little
confusing at first, and I sensed that my first duties would have nothing to
do with counseling. Cdr Shodan noticed that there seemed to be cloaked
Romulan ships around. Well, actually one, but where there's *one* Romulan
ship there are bound to be others.
I asked where I could help out, and I was assigned to engineering. I was a
bit nervous as it wasn't my specialty, but I'm glad I paid attention in my
Engineering classes at the Academy. I essentially helped the chief engineer
wherever I could. We had some close calls when the Romulans got nasty and
hit on us, but we somehow managed to keep the engines online and the shields
repaired. At one point we were in danger of a warp core breech, but with
everyone cooperating we were able to avert that.
Then when it seemed as though we could all catch a breath, Cdr Shodan noticed
a temporal rift. We had to do all we could to power up, torpedo out, and get
the heck out of there. And, with quick thinking on the part of the senior
officers and cooperation on everyone's part, we escaped a potentially deadly
situation.

Commander Eileen Shodan
First Officer of the USF Roddenberry
BEGIN DUTY LOG
We started this mission on patrol near the Romulan neutral zone. We received
a
distress call from a Federation outpost, so we went there to investigate.
Just as
we arrived, three Romulan warbird decloaked. Captain Scully demanded that
the
Romulans explain their presence in Federation space. They refused. Captain
Scully then demanded that they leave, or we would consider their continued
presence an act of war. The Romulans stayed. The Captain then ordered the
helm (Neil took over helm for the night) to place the Roddenberry between the
outpost and the Romulans and to inform Starfleet of what was happening.
Captain Scully and I discussed our current situation privately (in his ready
room). Top secret security reports indicate that the Romulans are behind
schedule in completing their top secret military base in the middle of the
neutral
zone. My first guess was that the Founders have infiltrated the Romulans.
The
Captain then informed me of a voluntary mission. Would I take the
Yellowstone
out to survey the Romulan project? Of course I accepted the mission. I am
always ready and willing to defend the Federation. Captain Scully ordered me
to
choose my away team and prepare to depart immediately.
We welcomed a new crew member, First Lieutenant Raven, who will be our new
Chief Science Officer.

Duty Log (Tuesday the 9th)
<<Begin Log>>
Today I was the second ranking science officer, on our mission to detect
Romulan vessels and to ask them to leave the neutral zone. Kurn picked up a
neutron surge 5000 meters to the port of us. I confirmed it to be a cloaked
Romulan ship. At the order of guest XO, Klindt, I instaled a permanent
scanning device on the Romulan ship. Through the tracker we were able to
determine that they were going to fire at our warp core....
Sarn, as acting captian, made the decision to seperate. I was stationed at
Ops on the saucer section with Klindt. I scanned the Romulan ship, and saw
that they had their weapons powered up, so we raised our shields to full on
the saucer section. We also charged phasers. Then the Romulans opened fire
on the saucer section. In retaliation, I fire the phasers wich I had locked
on them. They experienced a 27% decrease in their shield strength.
I then recieved a message from my superior science officer, Raven, that by
hitting their lower port, we could weaken their shields. I then reported
this to Klindt, who was in command of the saucer section. Just at that point
another Romulan ship, and a Cardassian ship decloaked. To come to our aid,
the USS Odyssey, also in the area, decloaked as well.
I opened a channel to the Odyssey, and informed them of Raven's discovery.
The battle continued to rage on, and we began to lose power. In order to
boost our sheilds and power, I rerouted a circuit to the deflector array,
which was succesful, and our shield strength held.
We knew that we couldn't take one more hit, so we attempted to retreat.
However we found the surrounding space to also show signs of trouble, so we
quickly returned to find that the battle section had hit the Romulan vessel
as Raven had suggested. The Romulan ship experienced a warp-core explosion.
That ended the battle for us, but unfortunately the warp-core explosion
created a temporal rupture. We were almost pulled in, but we were able to
fire torpedoes into the rift, to destroy it. After that near close call, we
set in course for McKinnley Station, Earth, where the Roddenberry will
undergo repairs.

Personal Log (Tuesday the 9th)
<<Begin Log>>
Confusing mission tonight. I got my first work at Ops. Interesting.. I
liked it! It's like science in a way, but you have a lot of quick hands on
decisions to make, and you are right in the middle of the action.
I have very conflicting feelings toward the end of the mission.... after we
were done, Klindt recognized my good work, which I was excited about. Then
he chastized Nick. I felt so bad for him, especially when he expressed
thoughts of resignation. Klindt, who was visiting as a our XO, while our XO
and Captian were away, shouldn't have done that, and he may get in trouble
for that. There is where my conflicting feelings come in.. I have known
Klindt since before I was assigned to the Roddenberry, and
before he became the captian of the USS Odyssey. I know that he is a nice
guy.... I will feel very badly if he gets in trouble. I know he only wanted
to help us out. On the other hand.. I felt bad for Nick. Klindt was harsh
with him. I thought that if anyone did the scolding, it should have been
Sarn, the acting captain. I also thought it should have been done in
private, not in front of the whole crew. THat is so embarrassing, especially
for a brand new ensign. I have spoken with Nick, and I
seriously hope this does not turn him away form USF for permanately.
ANYWAY- we'll see what happens.

Since Lt. Cmdr. Sarn was the acting Captain, I took on the Assisstant CMO's
duties today (funny, they're a lot like the Assisstant Assisstant CMO
duties). After the mission briefing, I settled down in Sickbay to begin my
customary inventory of Sickbay supplies. I am pleased to report that there
have been no more equipment losses due to misuse (apparently Sarn and Gibbs
found the dart set I bought for them). Just as I was finishing my survey, I
was called to join an away team by Acting XO Klindt. I
had just enough time to gather up a medkit and dash into the shuttlebay
before take-off. Science Officer Raven and I found a stash of cookies on
board the shuttle, but of course the mission was aborted before we got to
have any. At that point, Sarn ordered saucer separation, and I was called to
the Bridge to take over the helm. There were a number of strange occurences
(ships decloaking and recloaking, rescue ships mysteriously appearing and
then being destroyed, a temporal anomaly!), and I guess
they must have thrown my psychic powers out of whack, because the next thing
I knew, Klindt was at the saucer helm, and I was nowhere to be found. I was
recieving some telepathic messages from Sarn, maybe that did it. By the end
of the mission, we were safely in one piece and docked at McKinley Station
for repairs. Sickbay will no doubt need to be restocked, and inventoried, so
my work is cut out for me.

Engineer's Log
StarDate 9607.01
As the Chief Engineer was not present on board the ship, I was assigned that
post.
The bridge crew discovered a cloaked Romulan ship of our port and they
discovered that the Romulan ship was targeting to fire at our warp core. Our
acting captain, Sarn, decided to separate. The Romulan ship opened fire on
the saucer section, then the drive section. Our shields were decreasing in
power and I found that myself and the assistant engineer needed more help. A
crewmember was sent down and we restored to shields to about 75 percent. A
few ships came to our aid, most destroyed and more Romulan
ships and a Cardassian ship joined the battle.
The shields dropped again and we didn't have enough power to increase them
down in engineering. With the help of the bridge crew, we managed to hold
shield strength. We managed to destroy the Romulan ships, but one experienced
a warp core explosion which created a temporal rupture. In engineering we
gave all warp core power for us not to be pulled in, but nothing happened. We
fired torpedos into the rupture, which closed it and now we head to McKinnley
Station for some much needed repairs.

Captain Scully and I are still planning my Top Secret surveillance mission

have
come on board the Roddenberry. I feel lucky to have gotten away with it this

for Sarn, so he didn't have to come hunt me down).
While in Sickbay for that annoying physical, I received something from Ens

My first day on the Roddenberry was most unusual. We patrolled the neutral

leave, it began firing on us. Others appeared also. We recieved some help
from some other vessels (where they came from I'll never know). I was ordered
to the battle bridge (on a science vessel no doubt) where we separated from
the saucer. We manage to destroy several Rom vessels, but one vessel manage
to create a teporal rupture which almost pulled in
the saucer. I instructed Kate to fire a torpedo into the rupture which
caused it to release the saucer section with enough time for the saucer to
make it's escape. We are now at McKinnley statio undergoing repairs.

Valdyr, and Raven. <we entered a different private room, under the title
"Away Team"> When we reached the ship, I took the Helm. I was to set a
course to an certain coordinates near a Romulan base that was
in the process od being built, our mission was to spy on the Romulans and
destroy this base. When we reached our destination, I landed the ship on an
Astroid, where we set up a base and a torpedoe launcher. Raven Remained

we had to wear oxygen suits and magnetic boots. we had 2 close calls then we

Today we finally got started on Shodan's Top Secret Mission, which wasn't
so top secret, cause even *I* knew she had one.. I just didn't know what it
was about.....
Well, now I know.. not only do I know, I am on the away team that is
working on the mission!
On a ship similar to DS9's Defiant, with a cloak, Shodan led an away team
consisting of myself and Raven as science, Gibbs, Jalilar, and Neil. Being
as we had a small crew, Shodan gave me and Raven a lot of tasks. We were
monitoring the surrounding space for possible cloaked Romulan vessels, AND
scanning a nearby asteroid as a possible center to build a base. Well, Raven
and I discoverd that the asteroid would be suitable for the base, although it
had no atmosphere (YUCK- oxygen suits!!). Not only
that, we found some odd readings.....A cloaked Romulan vessel (of course
what mission is any good Without a cloaked Romulan vessel!).
We cloaked, and held our breath until the Romulans left our general area.
We were able to see a patrol route patern in the Romulan vessel, and Raven
was able to figure out the approxamate time we had before they returned to
our present position.
We got suited up in our Lovely oxygen suits, and beamed down to the
surface of the asteroid, all except Raven. Shodan, myself and Neil began to
construct the base, while Gibbs and Jalilar worked on assembling the firearms
(missiles...torpedoes?). Raven then frantically let us know that another
Romulan vessel was approaching. We knew that if they scanned the asteroid
for life signs we'd be seen! Raven and I quickly devised a cloaking system
for the base, and the base and all of us down there were
cloaked......all we had to do then was hold our breath and pray that the
cloaked worked......

Counselor's Log, SD 9607.16
We began today with a briefing from Captain Scully explaining how the
misunderstandings of 9607.09 were cleared up, and that today's mission would
take us back to the Neutral Zone. There would be a top secret vessel in tow,
and we should be prepared for battle.
There was good news about promotions for Sarn and Kurn; though I've only been
part of the Roddenberry crew for a couple of weeks, I can tell that these
promotions are well deserved. Commander Shodan led a top-secret away team
aboard the vessel that we were towing. The rest of the AT consisted of Kate,
Jalilar, Neil, Gibbs, and Raven.
For those of us remaining on the Roddenberry, the action picked up pretty
quickly. We received a message that two Romulan Warbirds were sighted. As
counselor, sensed the mixture of tension and excitement on the ship and did
my best to be aware of what was happening on and off the ship so that I could
help wherever needed. The Warbirds were told that they were not authorized
to be in Federation Space and were asked to leave. Of course, they did not.
Captain Scully spoke with someone aboard one of the Warbirds who identified
himself as "Mystery Man." He seemed unusually friendly and willing to
cooperate--too much so for your typical Romulan. Sensors identified several
cloaked ships that were approaching us. Mystery Man agreed to beam aboard
the Roddenberry to speak with Scully. He seemed way too willing, so I
advised the Captain to take security precautions, as Mystery Man was willing
to do everything *except* identify himself. The advice was
well received, and security preparations were made, I believe, by Kurn and
Tolo. The next step, I imagine, will be for Mystery Man to beam aboard and
we will find out who he is, *what* he is, and what the Romulans are up to.

Today Commander Shodan led an away team in a cloaked ship to set up a torpedo
launcher to destroy a secret Romulan base. I was chosen for this assignment,
along with Raven, Kate, Neil, and Gibbs. Gibbs and I set up the torpedoes,
while the others constructed the launcher base (Raven remained on board the
ship to monitor). My usual humorous commentary kept the away team in good
spirits until Raven called down to tell us that a Rommie vessel was on its
way. We all hid under the (cloaked) torpedo
launcher, and hoped that the Rommies would leave without detecting us. I am
looking forward to seeing the results of our work. The incresed Romulan
presence along the border is concerning me, and the rest of the crew as well.

Gibbs, Kate, Neil, Shodan, and I were chosen as the away team for an
assignment. Apparently, we are building a torpedo launcher on an asteroid.
We were nearly sighted first by a Romulan cruiser. I stayed aboard the ship
tocontinue monitering the vessel to make sure it didn't come back. But then
a second Romulan scouting vessel came by and we were able to get the cloaking
device enabled in time to hide the torpedo launcher from the Romulans.
Thisis all for right now. I cannot go into any more details.

First Officer of the USF Roddenberry
BEGIN DUTY LOG
Finally, my top secret away team mission began. I chose Lieutenant Junior
Grade Kate, First Lieutenant Raven, Lieutenant Commander Neil, Lieutenant
Gibbs, and Ensign Jalilar (Valdyr) to accompany me. Captain Scully had given
me a cloaked ship. Our mission: to find the secret, hidden Romulan base in
the
middle of the Neutral Zone and destroy it. Also, find out any information we
can
about their activities. My crew was quite nervous about this extremely
dangerous and possibly life-threatening mission (the Romulans would surely
kill
us if we were caught), but they were willing to take the risks. I assigned
Neil to
the helm. I had Raven and Kate take over Science, Ops, and Tactical duties.
I had
Gibbs and Jalilar (Valdyr) take over Medical and Engineering duties.
We found a nice little asteroid in the Neutral Zone to land on. It had no
atmosphere, so we needed environmental suits and gravity boots. We began to
set up our remote-controlled torpedo launching device to launch a series of
quantum torpedos at the Romulan's secret base. Raven elected to remain on
the
ship to scan for incoming. I had Gibbs and Jalilar (Valdyr) set up the
torpedos,
while Kate, Neil, and myself set up the launching device itself. While we
were
working, Raven spotted a couple of patrol ships. We had just enough time to
run
for cover. Neither spotted us, fortunately.
While we were away, Kurn was promoted to Lieutenant Commander.

Today the remaining members of the away team (Shodan, Gibbs, Raven, and
myself) concluded our mission in the Neutral Zone. Kate and Neil had been
declared unfit for duty due to problems with the environment suits. Gibbs
and I were running final diagnnostics on the torpedo launcher when we
discovered some faulty wiring. The problam was more widespread than we
initially realized, and the whole away team ended up fixing wires and testing
*all* of the connections before proceeding. We finally finished
the rewiring, and ran final tests before departing. After having retreated
to a safe distance from the asteroid, we launched the torpedoes, and totally
annihilated the Rommie base! We then returned to Federation space at high
warp, where we docked with the Roddenberry.

BEGIN DUTY LOG
My top secret away team mission continued. First Lieutenant Raven (aboard
our
cloaked ship - a Defiant clone) continued monitoring Romulan ships that
wandered near. Fortunately, it did not seem as if any of them could detect
us
through our cloak. First Lieutenant Gibbs and Lieutenant Junior Grade Valdyr
were assisting me in putting the finishing touches of the launch site. We
were
setting up a site that would launch a series of quantum torpedoes to a secret
Romulan base. We had massive problems with bad connections and bad cables.
But we finally got everything worked out. We ran last diagnostics, and
everything checked out 100%. So, we ran back to our ship and got off the
asteroid (and away from a nearby Romulan ship, which, fortunately, did not
detect us). I gave First Lieutenant Gibbs the honor of pressing the button
that
would launch the torpedoes (mostly because he was the only male among our
away team). We waited with baited breath as the torpedoes streaked away.
Success! We destroyed the Romulan's top secret base! We fled away at
maximum warp to join the Roddenberry.
Incidentally, the people behind LtCdrNeil and LtJrKate had excused absences.
It
should be noted that their personas continued to help with my away team. And
that their help was invaluable.
Lieutenant Commander Sarn has been promoted and transfered. He is now
Commander Sean Ryan Astro, First Officer of the USS Odyssey. So Captain
Scully promoted Lieutenant Commander Neil to Second Officer. And First
Lieutenant Gibbs is now our Chief Medical Officer. Valdyr was promoted to
Lieutenant Junior Grade in between sims.

As we reassumed our mission, I began feeling lightheaded. I was not
feeling well at all, so Shodan had Valdyr examine me. Apparently I was
having some adverse reaction to the environmental suits. Valdyr gave her
diagnosis that I was not fit for duty, and that I should beam back to our
ship and rest (getting out of that environmental suits!). Shodan agreed. Sp
that was how I spent the rest of our mission..... lying down, while everyone
else worked! I am happy to say that I am feeling better now
though, and our mision is over.

Because the medical staff was on an away mission, I was in charge of Sickbay
today. I found Valdyr's inventory checklist and began to work on the
inventory since she'd probably need a break upon return from the away
mission. Scully, Kurn, and Tolo were preparing to beam the Mystery Man from
the Romulan vessel aboard, but there was some sort of explosion and the
transport didn't take place. Mystery Man was presumed dead.
Shortly thereafter the ship was hit and there was, to quote an old Terran
song, "A Whole Lot o' Shakin' Goin' On." Scully told me via communicator to
prepare for incoming injured. There were explosions and alarms, but I'm not
sure what all happened as I was pretty busy administering first aid to the
injured.
Six beds were set up in Sickbay and all of them were occupied. Just as soon
as I patched someone up another would come in. I became suspicious when I
went to the patient in Bed #4. She looked like Lt. Jeffries' wife, sounded
like Mrs. Jeffries, but something seemed amiss. I thought back to the
accident with Mystery Man and my suspicion of possible Founders (Changelings,
Shape Shifters) involvement. I went into the Sickbay office where I could
communicate with Captain Scully without being heard by
the patients. Via communicator I told him of my suspicions and requested
permission to draw blood samples from the patients. Scully told me to go
ahead and report back if I found anything of a suspicious nature. Tolo
agreed that the Mystery Man accident seemed strange an may not have been an
actual accident.
Unfortunately my emergency medical training did not include analyzing and
interpreting tissue samples enough to make an exact identification of
species, but I did know at least enough how to compare the samples with the
computer's personnel medical profiles and identify any discrepancies.
Mrs. Jeffries' blood sample looked unusual and did not match her profile. I
don't know whether she is a Founder, but I knew that she was a counterfeit.
I reported that to Captain Scully, and he told me to screen for life forms
that either don't appear or don't match the personnel profiles. I requested
that a member of the Security staff come to Sickbay, and Scully sent a
security officer.
I continued to act as though I suspected nothing and went about checking on
the patients and drawing blood samples. I found the same kind of discrepancy
in the patient in Bed #1 and reported it to the captain.
The Away Team returned and I expect that one of the doctors will be here
shortly.

in the area.
Neil and Kate wern't felling well so they went back to the ship to rest,
while The Commander, Valdyr and myself ran the last-minute diagnostics. It
turns out that several of the torpedos had problems with a connection on the
power supply. We fixed the connections and quickly left. When we were at a
safe distance, Commander Shodan gave me the order to launch the torpedos at
the Romulan base. When we were sure the base was completely destroyed, we
rendezvoused with the Roddenberry.
Once I was on board the Roddenberry, I was comissioned as the CMO.

While the Away Team continued their top secret mission, the officers still on
the Roddenberry prepared to beam over the "Mystery Man". But, an astoriod
exploded nearby and the Mystery Man was killed in transport. I suspected foul
play. Meanwhile, the explosion created a shockwave that damaged our systems.
Lt Commander Kurn and I began repairs. We found a warp core breech was
imminent and we began to transfer power. I thought taking power from the
shuttles would help- it did and we had shields again.
Phasers, were being worked on by Kurn.
We then discovered a strange energy source, later we found it to be a rift of
some sort. We investigated- and I thought is was a rift to another part of
the galaxy, possible artificial, sent by a incredible advanced race. We
probaly will invesigate more, maybe even go in. I am anxious to get hear what
the AT has to say, if they say anything at all.

Acting XO
Computer, Open Duty Log.
I was made acting XO in Captain Scully's absence, and I have a new respect
for all the
Commanders in Starfleet. After Commander Shodan, Kate, Raven, Neil, and I
returned to the
Roddenberry from our previous mission, we learned of a rift of some sort that
the Roddenberry
had encountered. Of course, we sent a probe in to investigate, but it
dissappeared without a
trace. After launching a few more probes, the rift increased greatly in size
and... enveloped us.
What a day for your first shot at XO. Anyhow, we discovered another ship
inside the rift. After
ignoring our hails, the ship sent an invasion team over to the Roddenberry.
They... managed to
take over engineering, and we soon discovered that the invaders were
changelings. One of them
took the form of Ltjg Valdyr, she was acting tactical offficer then... We
don't even know how long
they were among us. Well, one of the founders called off the invasion and
ordered all of them to
return to the ship. I guess they didn't like us or something, because they
had us down, but not
out.
I had Kate give evreyone a phaser in case they reached the bridge. Wich, in
retrospect, that
wouldn't have done much good if we couldn't identify the invaders. Well, I
hope next time Im in
the XO's chair, I can have an... easier time.

Fortunately by the time we arrived back at the Roddenberry, I was feeling
better, and was able to perform on this mission.
Unfortunately we arrived back with an interesting situation on our hands.
Besides the mysterious intruders in sickbay, we also had the rift to deal
with. Also unfortunately I was all by myself in science today, as Raven was
not available for duty. Doubly unfortunately I was also expected to work at
ops for the night. Well! Any new experience is always welcome, but when
faced with problems like we were, I prefer to have only the job of science
resting comfortably on my shoulders!
At acting captian Shodan's request, I launched a probe towards the rift.
However, we lost contact with the probe. It completely disappeared, without
even an ion trail left behind! It was almost like it was sucked up by the
rift. The rift then began to enlarge and it completely engulfed us.
Also in the rift was a large ship of unknown signature. I scanned the
ship, but unfortunately came up with the conclusion that it was a completely
alien ship, and that while it was taking a somewhat hostile stance, it was
showing no immediate threat.
At Shodan's request, I attempted to hail the vessel. They would not
respond to our hail though. While this was happening on the bridge,
something was going on in sickbay. The intruders escaped from sickbay. I
then detected energy surges from the other ship, and inside our own ship.
Transporters, no doubt.
At around that same time, the ship was joined by five other ships. We
were clearly out numbered, and while I estimated that in an all out battle
with the one ship we would probably win, there was no way we could take on
six ships.
I detected that they were powering up their weapons and so we raised our
shields. The ships assumed attack formation. After several blasts that were
direct hits, we lost helm and shield power, making us virtually sitting
ducks. However, the ships did not immediately destroy us. They seemed to be
toying with us.
They then finally answered our hails. The aliens on board were very
hostile, and spoke of a time when there was no starfleet, and they were the
ones who commanded space. They spoke of how finally the Federation would
fall to them. Shodan tried to negotiate with them, but they cut
communications. I could not restore the link. The intruders aboard our ship
were beamed off to the nearest ship.
With the intruders gone, Tolo immediately rerouted power, and got our helm
back on line. Gibbs, in an amazing manuever got us out of the rift and back
into Federation space just in time! I am not sure the Roddenberry will
survive many more of these attacks!

USS Roddenberry

Counselor's log, Stardate 9607.30
I worked in Sickbay today. Although Drs. Gibbs and Valdyr had returned from
the Away Mission, Acting Captain Shodan asked that I stay in Sickbay and
brief Valdyr on the situation with the intruders and help out as needed.
Almost immediately weird--dangerously weird--things started to happen. One
of the intruders (we suspected Founders/Changelings/whatever the politically
correct term is for them!) attacked Valdyr and she passed out. The intruders
were able to get past security. One of the guards and
I lifted Valdyr onto one of the beds and I checked her vital signs. The
readings seemed normal, except her heart rate was kind of fast--even for a
Deltan-Orion. Gibbs, I think, was in and out of SB as he was needed in other
parts of the ship. Some things are kind of a blur. I do remember that when
Valdyr came to, she was acting *really* strange--her voice was not her own
and she didn't recognize her name. I suspected that whatever entity--Founder
or whatever--that either possessed or impersonated
the two patients in SB was doing the same with Valdyr. So with the best of
my theatrical ability, I acted like the concerned counselor who suspected
nothing more than a concussion and some temporary amnesia. She must have
known that I did suspect something because she lunged at me and knocked me
down. And I was unconscious for awhile. When I regained consciousness, Gibbs
told me that I'd live (what a bedside manner!) and I told him, as best I
could, what happened. There were all sorts things going
on in various parts of the ship--and Sickbay was no exception. Valdyr was
brought back and she seemed okay. She wanted to go to the bridge to talk to
Shodan, but I told her to stay in SB because of her head injury (and because
she may have been "Valdyr-Plus" and trying to trick me). She had to remain
for observation, but it was okay to contact Shodan via com badge. One of the
new enseigns (Granger, I think? Please forgive me if I don't have the
name--the SB records aren't available to me at the
moment) communicated that he was injured and bleeding, so I asked for him to
be emergency transported into Sickbay. Just as I was finishing treating him,
Valdyr went into a very weird and frightening seizure, where she spoke in a
strange voice and was vomiting blood. She was thrashing about so violently
that whatever was doing this to her caused her to fracture her chin on the
puke pan. Then we could here a voice over the communications systems say
something about they're having been here long before
we were and nothing could stop them from being here again. Just one word
came to mind: Founders. After Valdyr has gotten some much-needed rest, I'd
like to give her a complete psychological exam.

First Officer of the USF Roddenberry
Acting Commanding Officer
BEGIN DUTY LOG
Our highly esteemed commanding officer, Captain Stuart Scully, informed us
last week that he would not be able to be here tonight, so, I had to be the
acting
commanding officer. There was a rift in front of us. I ordered a probe be
sent in
there to examine it. The probe disappeared inside the rift, never to be
heard
from again. Suddenly, the rift enlarged, engulfing us completely. There was
another large ship there that refused to respond to our hails.
Our mysterious visitors from Sickbay were able to escape their security
detachment. We were soon joined by five other ships. We were outnumbered
and outpowered. Our intruders were able to take over Engineering. Many crew
fought valiantly to try to re-gain control, including our EnsTolo and
visiting
officers LtJg Tage and LtJg MikeW. The intruders knocked out our helm and
shields (not to mention several crew members) and used our transporters to go
back to their ships, apparently waiting for their take-over team to come over
and
finish us off. I made a ship-wide order that anyone near Engineering get in
there
and work on getting us helm power. EnsTolo responded. I ordered my acting
first officer, First Lieutenant Gibbs, to take helm. His superior helm
skills got
us out of there. We headed back to the rift, entered it, and found ourselves
back
in Federation space. The rift then disappeared.
Valdyr was acting strangely throughout the day, but I am starting to suspect
that
that might be her normal state. I am not sure whether or not I should be
concerned, but I shall order First Lieutenant Gibbs to perform a complete
physical on her. I shall also order Ensign Ellen to perform a complete
mental
exam of her. Just to be on the safe side. At one point, Valdyr said she was
possessed by an alien. This is not something to be taken lightly! I want
her back
in her normal, tip-top, excellent shape as soon as possible (like yesterday).

to rise. We were about I be destroyed when I informed Commander Shodan, our
acting CO of my idea to fire a modified torpedo at the beam in the rift that
was increasing our output. It worked, but we were still in
trouble when a ship appeared. The ship beamed over invaders that we tried to
keep at bay, they attacked several parts of the ship- then engineering- I
tried to stop them.
Then, they left the ship- and we managed to escape- I am still curoius as to
why they attacked us.

Cmdr. Shodan requested counseling on two issues.
The first was relatively easy--some ideas for additional interview questions
for the PADD. She liked my ideas, which made me very happy. It always makes
me feel good and affirmed when I know I've helped someone.
The second issue will take more time, and because of that I can only give a
brief overview. It has to do with the marriage proposal from Badon. Although
no counseling situation should be passed off as "typical", it is, with
variations of course, a common occurance. She and Badon have maintained a
close platonic friendship, and he has fallen in love with her. Since she is
married and wants to maintain her marriage, a romantic relationship with him
would be unwise. I assured her that it is possible to
maintain a platonic friendship; however, it is normal that things will be
awkward for a while. The important thing is honesty--with tact. I will
continue to work with her through this issue for as long as necessary.

::Counselor's log supplementary, Stardate 9608.06::
Valdyr survived a very traumatic situation last week and is understandably
still a bit shaken from it. It seems as though some kind of alien presence
invaded her body last week in Sickbay. I was with her, so I am very familiar
with the outward manifestation. I believe that wisdom would dictate a slow,
one-step-at-a-time approach so that she would not be re-traumatized by
therapy. For the first step, I advised her to try to recall what emotions she
felt. She had indicated that there was a familiarity with
the presence but did not know exactly what. Usually if we can draw out the
emotional memories, the more concrete details, in time, will follow. I don't
believe that she is ready to remember the concrete details; at this point
they may cause retraumatization. But if we can focus on dealing with the
emotions that were present, we'll have taken a good first step toward
discovery and healing. One never knows how long the healing of repressed
memories will take; each person is different. But I will help her
through this for as long as needed.
It was good to see her laughing and able to be herself while on duty tonight
in Sickbay.

Counselor's log, Stardate 9608.06
Begin log.
Arrived aboard the Roddenberry; apparently any suspected Changeling activity
has been purged or ruled out. Received mission brief from Starfleet that we
would be embarking on a top secret mission to the Badlands to locate a Maquis
storage center where they are storing stolen Federation weapons in
preparation for an attack on the Cardassians. This is a very sensitive and
dangerous mission; the Maquis are dangerous terrorists with little or no
sense of ethics.
Since the medical staff have resumed Sickbay duties, I was able to return to
my post on the bridge as Counselor. We met briefly in Captain Scully's ready
room to discuss how to approach the Badlands. Several strategies were
discussed, and it was decided that we would first send in a probe.
Upon arrival at the Badlands we saw two Maquis vessels leaving. Using a few
varied scanning techniques, ones which would prevent us from being detected,
Kate, Tolo, and probably others which I may be forgetting (forgive me if I
overlook anyone; it's not intentional) located an asteroid which Kurn
determined was the Maquis storage center. As Counselor (and "just" an
enseign at that), there was not much I could do except closely observe what
was happening on the bridge and on the view screen and be
prepared to serve in whatever capacity I would be needed. Understandably,
things were a bit stressful. BTW, I'd like the crew to know that I'm
available to them for any help in stress management.
In the meantime, I occaisionally listen in on Sickbay to make sure that
Valdyr was okay. From what I could observe, she was herself: the Valdyr that
we all know and love--what a relief! She and Gibbs were busy delivering
Shodan's dog's puppies.
Back to the bridge activity: Tolo and Kate located a Cardassian vessel of a
suspicious nature. It was not being maneuvered very well, which is unusual
for Cardassian pilots. It turned out that the vessel was an outdated one and
it was determined that it was stolen by the Maquis. Our defense systems were
prepared for any possible action.
There was one promotion today--a well-deserved one for Tolo.

Today our shore leave came to an end. Everyone had been scanned, and there
was no changeling presence, thank goodness! The Roddenberry was on the edge
of the badlands. We wanted to scan for Maquis ships, but there was a lot of
interference.
Captain Scully called a meeting of all departments heads in his ready
room. I was the acting head of science. Scully asked if it would be
possible to launch a probe or something that would be able to cut through the
interference. I thought about it and decided that I had a plan that I was
fairly certain would work. Scully told me to get a team together and work on
it.
So, Ens Tolo, head of engineering, and I began work. My plan, which Tolo
agreed would work, was this: modify the warp deflector to emit an inverse
tachyon pulse, which could scan through all the intereference. So, Tolo
and I got to work on it.
We got readings of a Cardassian ship moving at 1/4 impulse through the
badlands. I reported my findings to the bridge, but they seemed to be having
a crisis of their own up their, so I never really got a response on how to
proceed. So, Tolo and I continued to monitor the ship. The question
surfaced of whether or not there was actually Cardassians aboard, or Maquis.
Tolo had the idea that if we aimed the pulse right at them, we would be
able to tell. However, I was afraid that they might be able to trace it back
to us, and if it really was Cardassians, we'd be in trouble! So, Tolo worked
on a plan that would make the beam seem to be coming from inside the
badlands. I agreed that it sounded fesible. Tolo reported the plan to
Scully, who told us to go ahead with it.

STARDATE 9608.09
Commander Eileen Shodan
First Officer of the USF Roddenberry
BEGIN DUTY LOG
The USS Roddenberry entered the Badlands. Our top secret mission: to
prevent
the Maquis from decimating what was left of the once-powerful but now in
chaos Cardassian empire. "Maquis are secretly storing weapons and ships for
his
attack in a place that has not been disclosed." Our mission, should we
choose to
accept ... well, we had no choice in the matter. We must stop the Maquis
from
attacking the Cardassian empire. We must not let personal feelings get in
the
way of our "top secret mission." Because this mission is classified as top
secret,
we will maintain communication silence with Starfleet Headquarters. We are
on
our own. If Starfleet has "not received word from {us} as to {our} status by
SD
9608.20 {we} will be classifed as MIA."
Captain Scully called a meeting of all department heads into his Ready Room.
In
attendance at this meeting were: Lieutenant Commander Neil, Ensign Tolo
(Acting Chief Engineer), Lieutenant JG Kate, Lieutenant Commander Kurn,
Ensign Ellen, First Lieutenant Gibbs, and myself. Captain Scully wanted
"suggestions on how we should enter the Badlands." We were all in agreement
that scanners and sensors would be highly important. Tolo suggested
adjusting
the thrusters to give us some more impulse maneuverability. Scully brought
up
the options of splitting the ship or sending in shuttlecraft. The Captain
suggested sending in a probe to find the Maquis, since a probe would be less
detectable than the Roddenberry itself. Scully then ordered Kate to gather a
team to reconfigure a probe/sensor that could penetrate through the
interference
of the natural phenomenon found in the Badlands. Tolo was the only other
team
member.
Kate's idea was to "modify the warp deflector to emit an inverse tachyon
pulse."
Suddenly, two Maquis ships were seen (traveling at a high rate of warp speed)
coming out of the Badlands. Neil said they were 20 year old Cardassian war
ships and surmised that they were Maquis because the Cardassians did not use
that class of ship any more. Kate detected a Cardassian ship moving through
the
badlands a 1/4 impulse power. They armed their weapons when they detected
us.
Scully ordered Red Alert. Neil reported that the ships we were observing had
been stolen from a construction yard 6 months ago. Kurn reported there were
300 people aboard. The ships were heading towards a small asteroid, which

scanners were having difficulty with.
Scully ordered us to head to the asteroid while still on Red Alert. Schultz
was
monitoring communication between the ships. Kurn finally was able to tell
that
the asteroid was a supply depot.
Tolo was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade and give a field promotion to
Chief Engineer. Lieutenant Roga is listed as Chief Engineer in our roster,
however, he has technical difficulties and is on an extended leave of
absence.

We were ordered to the badlands to stop the Maquis from destroying what is
left of the Cardassian Empire. As chief engineer, I, aswell as the other
department heads, were sent to Captain Scully's Ready Room. The captain
wanted ways to get in the badlands, or scan the badlands. I thought of an
idea to boost ship menuvability, but later Kate's idea of an inverse tachion
pulse was choosen by the captain.
Kate choose me to work with her on modifing the main deflector- to create the
pulse. It worked. I then, began monitoring activity in the area. I found two
Maquis leaving the badlands at high warp speed. It was discovered that they
were Cardassian ships. Then, Kate and I detected a ship moving through the
badlands at impulse power. The ship detected us and powered up their weapons.
The two other ships, aswell as the one on impulse power were then found to be
heading for an astoriod. We later found the
astoriod to be a supply depot...
I was promoted to Lt. Junior Grade, and the field promotion of chief
engineer. I am very excited about my promotion, and know I will help this
ship to the best of my ability.

Today was a bit hectic. We were still at that Maquis asteroid base. But
today we found out it was a weapons bay. We have to destroy it somehow.
Tolo and Schultz were thinking about using earthquakes. <<Earthquakes?>>
Then Nick found some blood on deck5. We got Oogleheim (stand in Doctor) to
clean it up and analyze it. Then we found a phaser. I checked the weapons
locker and noticed missing weapons. EnsRich confessed to the murder of two
people. He also said he was a Q. Then Nick locked him up. If
he was a Q, he wouldn't of stayed in the brig! Then Nick and I had a
shootout with a changeling in Ten-Forward. I think that it is dead. Still
the ship was on red alert the whole time. Some how I don't think this is
over................

::Counselor's log, Stardate 9608.16. Begin log of psychological analysis of
Ens Rich, Assistant Tactical.::
Hi, Rich. I've read through your duty and personal logs, as well as the logs
of a few other crew members, and the chat log (script of the sim). There was
a lot of confusion, and the sooner we can work on sorting things out, the
better. This probably won't be easy, but I'm confident that it's not
impossible. As you already know, Captain Scully has asked that I submit a
report of your psychological condition. So let's get started.
I'll need to know about your background. I haven't seen your character
bio/profile (if you've written one), so tell me about yourself--species, age,
marital status, home life, your experience in Starfleet, and anything else
that you may think is important.
According to the chat log, there were several occasions where you were
confused as to your surroundings, whether or not you had a weapon, etc. At
one point you said that you're a Q. Can you tell me, as you remember it now,
what happened on Tuesday night? What do you remember prior to the first
murder? Describe what you felt just prior to killing McCoy.
You said in your logs that you didn't commit the first murder, that you only
confessed to it to cover for someone. Please, if you're covering for someone,
it's important for you to tell the truth as to whom you're covering
for--keeping these kind of secrets are not only harmful for you, but also for
everyone else. We need to know who the murderer is--he or she may very likely
commit murder again if there is no intervention. It may seem as though you're
helping this person by covering for him or her, but
it really does more harm. Please tell what you know.
I know that it may be difficult to think back and remember what happened on
Tuesday. Memories from your past may be difficult as well. Tell me as much as
you can. If you find yourself becoming too distressed, do the following:
Stop. Sit or lie down, whatever is more comfortable. Take 5 deep breaths.
Request from the computer Program Ellen 2-alpha -- it's a relaxation program
that lasts about 30 minutes. When the program is over, resume answering the
questions. Any time you feel distressed or agitated, request the relaxation
program.
I'll be checking in on you regularly.

EM sweeps- EM "earthquakes"- subspace ideas- but at the end, we came up up
with an idea to use low-intensity varied particles via the transporters-
aimed at only the equimpment- killing basiclly no one.
I believe this is what our captain is going to choose to do.

::Computer, open Counselor's duty log, Stardate 9608.19::
On Stardate 9608.13 I conducted a stress-management workshop. Originally it
was going to be just for the children on the ship, but the idea was so
well-received that adults who were not on duty were present as well. I taught
the class how to identify stress/stressors, and then techniques for stress
reduction and management. Since each person has his/her own unique reactions
to stressors, he/she also has his/her own preference for stress management.
The important thing is to identify and use that (or
those) method(s). We expored play-therapy,--which was just as popular among
the adults as the children--art and music therapy, and self-hypnosis and
creative visualization techinques. Since this workshop was an overview of
stress management techniques, we did not go into depth with any of the
methods, but hopefully I was able to provide a starting place for individuals
to deal with their stress.
Counseling with Shodan and the marriage proposal situation progressed. Seems
as though the matter "took care of itself" as the other person found someone
else when she said "no". I recommended that Shodan do things that she finds
relaxing while dealing with the emotions that usually accompany the end of
situations such as these.
As requested, I started the process of a full psychological analysis of Ens
Rich. He gave the following response to my initial set of questions: <<I am a
Q. I am Male, 200, single, and have served in Starfleet Acadamy for 7 months.
I covered for Calvin3425. I was quite mad before I killed Dr. McCoy because I
HATE Calvin!! That's it!! I'm gone!! ::dissappears into Q place::>>
I doubt that he is a Q, although I'm hesitant to rule it out until proof is
established. His behavior and reactions are not consistant with Qs; however,
Qs have been known to act erratically when trying to fool people. I believe
that Ens Rich is delusional at this point, suffering from some sort of
psychosis, the nature of which needs to be established. I believe that a
complete physical analysis is necessary along with the psychological
analysis. What Ens Rich is suffering from may be organic in nature;
it may have something to do with neurotransmitter (brain chemical) activity,
which may be causing the psychological manifestations. We also need to rule
out any sort of intrusive alien activity. I re-examined the sim log from
9608.13 with regard to Ens Rich's behavior, and I believe that at this point
he is a potential danger to himself and others. He said he was covering for
Calvin (which Calvin was quite upset about), and now Calvin cannot be found.
I recommend that Ens Rich be confined to Sickbay for
observation, with a force field around his bio-bed. He needs to be monitored
for any medical abnormalities which may be contributing to his psychological
condition. He should be sedated *only* when absolutely necessary--to protect
himself and others. I also recommend that a security guard be present at all
times, and that a background check be done to see whether there are any
discrepancies between his Starfleet records and his present statements.

Is it possible to put a bio bed in Ens Rich's cell in the brig and monitor
him from there? I'd hate to see the crew (including Ens Rich) at risk if it
is less safe to move him to Sickbay. Under normal circumstances--when we're
not on a top-secret mission with no contact with Starfleet--I would recommed
that the patient/prisoner be transferred to a psychological evaluation center
at a Starfleet hospital. However, we do not have that option as long as we
are still in the Badlands. We will have to do the
best with what we have.
I'm sorry that I did not make that clear in my report and logs. Security,
Medical--I'd sure welcome your input on this.

Due to the absence of senior officers on tonight's mission, I was the highest
ranking officer other than the captain. THat made me acting XO.
An interesting experience. Although I have given orders within the
science department, as I am now department head due to the resignation of
FstLt Raven, I have never before been in the position where I am expected to
give orders to all different departments and people, where so much is riding
on my order. (well, not THAT much!) ; )
It was an interesting experience for me... I felt like there was something
specific I should be doing, like scanning or something, but instead of me
scanning, I was giving the orders for a scan!
However, my first experience in command was marred by the fact that I was
not feeling well, and missed crucial parts of the mission (PUNTED!!!! Only
about three million times!!!) ; )
OVerall, I was not pleased with my performance. Under the circumstances,
I guess I did ok, but in USF ok just doesn't cut it.... I guess I am not
quite ready for command.
On a side note, there were two murders commited during the mission, by
EnsRich. He is now claiming that he was simply covering for Ens Calvin.
This angers me as well as Calvin. I have had occasion to talk with Ens
Calvin, and I know that he is a nice young man who has worked hard and had a
promising carreer here in USF. But these accusations have caused him to feel
uncomfortable on our ship, and he has asked for a transfer. I am sorry that
Ens Calvin has left the ship. Ens Rich better be able to
back up his accusations.

Today we were still at that Maquis base. We needed a way to knock it out.
Considering that We weren't alowed to have a high mortality rate. The
changeling appears
to still be on the ship becuase someone is beating up the bio-beds. We chose
to use ion
beams (My idea! YAY!) with a piggybacked virus to knock out the base. Before
we were
ready though, another ion beam came flying at us. Luckily it missed. We
continued
working and readied the beam. Schultz got us there (the base) with a Picard
manuever.
He must be one heck of a pilot. The beam and virus worked great, knocking
out a lot of
the bases computers. We had completed our mission. But, as we started to
leave, an Ion
blast hit our right nacelle. Upon this we started limping towards DS9 for
repairs on
impulse engines.

STARDATE 9608.21
Commander Eileen Shodan
First Officer of the USS Roddenberry
BEGIN DUTY LOG
We dedicated our sim in honor of the memory of Gene Roddenberry. For
without him, we wouldn't be here tonight.
We had found the secret Maquis base. It is from this base that the Maquis
had
planned to launch their invasion to wipe out the remains of the Cardassian
empire. Our mission: to destroy the base without killing anyone. Could it
be
done? Our talented crew will find out.
Several very good ideas were expressed. Ensign Jay thought a blast of
ionized
energy would cause their computers to malfunction without killing anyone.
Lieutenant Junior Grade Kate brought up the idea of giving their computers a
virus that wouldn't affect their life support systems. Ensign Edwards came
up
with the idea to piggy-back a virus onto an ion blast. Other ideas mentioned
were: physically infiltrating their base, directing "a disturbance from the
Badlands", and EM earthquakes.
We had to dodge an ion blast from the Badlands (not from the asteroid that
the
Maquis were on).
Captain Scully reminded us that we must destroy their equipment, not just
disable it. Therefore, a computer virus alone would not suffice.
The Captain held a meeting in his ready room. Shodan, Jay, Ensign Schultz,
and
Kate were ordered to attend. Schultz was ordered to lead a team to develop a
virus that would disable the Maquis' computers. Kate was ordered to lead the
team to find a way to direct an ion beam from the Badlands onto the asteroid.
Jay was ordered to work on an alternate plan in case Kate had problems.
Lieutenant Junior Grade Valdyr does a very good job inventorying Sickbay.
First
Lieutenant Gibbs should be very glad to have such high caliber assistance.
There
was some damaged equipment in Sickbay, so they ordered Security Officer
Ensign Nick Smile down there to investigate. There might still be a
Changeling
on our ship.
Another ion blast came from the Badlands. This one hit us. We sustained
damage on decks 10-12. Repair crews and medical emergency teams were
ordered there immediately.
Schultz and Kate both succeeded in designing their systems. Captain Scully
ordered them both to implement their plans. Their plans were successful.
85%
of the Maquis' equipment was destroyed. As soon as they were done, Scully
ordered Edwards to pilot us out of the Badlands. He also ordered Schultz to
transmit a message to Starfleet saying that our mission was complete.
Just as we were leaving, another ion blast hit our starboard warp nacelle.
We
lost warp power. Captain Scully ordered Edwards to set a course for DS9 at
full
impulse power.
Ellen was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade.

Counselor's log, Stardate 9608.20
We started out still in the Badlands (and it's not called "bad" for nothing!"
looking at our last chance to complete our mission before being listed by
Starfleet as MIA. We *had* to make it good, not only because we didn't want
to be MIA, but more importantly because yesterday was Gene Roddenberry's
birthday and this sim was dedicated to his honor. ::Bows head in a moment of
silence::
Our orders were to destroy the Maquis secret base without destroying any
lives--or as few as possible--ours or those of the Maquis. Between Ens Jay,
LtJr Kate, Ens Schultz, USF Shodan and Ens Edwards (I hope I'm not forgetting
anyone), a brilliant plan was devised to piggy-back a virus on an ion blast.
This would royally mess up their computers without shutting down life
support. And another ion blast (I think) would wipe out the base on the
asteroid.
In the meantime there were some internal problems. Bio beds 2 - 5 weren't
working; it was discovered that the wires were chewed. It is suspected that a
Changeling may still be on board; that could account for the wire-chewing. (I
guess that Jay's dog and Shodan's dogs and puppies were ruled out--no dog
hair and they probably would have been zapped! Good doggies!)
Something from the Badlands, like an ion blast or something, hit the ship and
power was lost on decks 10 - 12. There were several injuries; most of them
could be taken care of by Nick, Valdyr, Gibbs, and me with our trusty med
kits. However, there were some serious injuries, so Gibbs went back to
Sickbay and we emergency transported the more serious injuries (bad
lacerations, head trauma, etc.) to Dr. Gibbs.
Somewhere in there the plans worked out. The Maquis base was destroyed with
the loss of one life. A message was transmitted to Starfleet that our mission
was complete. Whew--we wouldn't be lost in MIA-land!
Then wouldn't you know it--all of a sudden there was some kind of blast that
hit the starboard warp nacelle. We're heading to DS9 for repairs and
preparation for our next mission.
Oh yeah, and I was promoted to Lieutenant Jr. Grade!

Yet another stressful mission! Our changeling "friend" is still aboard, and
is wreaking havoc in Sickbay. All of the connections in several biobeds had
been *chewed* through, rendering the eqiupment inoperable. Otherwise the
inventory is adequate, although if we keep going on these top-secret
dangerous missions, we'll need to conduct crew-training sessions in triage
and emergency medicine.
The accident on Decks 10, 11 and 12 was handled marvelously by our
well-trained emergency medteams. I would like to recommend Ensign Smile and
LtJr Ellen for commendations on their excellent assisstance of the medical
staff.
I look forward to conferring with Dr. Bashir while on DS9. My paper on
Romulan neurophysiology is due to be presented in a few weeks, and I've heard
that xenoneurology is one of his specialties.

We were still in the badlands. We had finally found the Maquis base.
Now it was our job to destroy it, with minimun casualties. Scully had us
assemble a team to come up with plans on how to destroy the base.
Suggestions were flying, and I can't really remember who suggested what.
I think I suggested that we send a virus. Eventually we assembled two teams,
one headed by me. We sent a virus, and then a specifically directed ion
beam.
Both were succesfull. The Maquis base was succesfully destroyed. However as
wew were leaving the area, our ship suffered a hit. We are now on our way to
DS9 for ship repairs.

***Computer, Open Duty Log***
During this mission, we were in the badlands looking for a base that would be
instrumental in a maquis attack.
Biobeds 2 through 5 were not in working order when I tried to activate them.
Ltjr Valdyr, Ens Jay, Ensign Nick Smile, and I tried to figure out what the
problem was, and I found that all of the connections to the back of the
console had been severed. Nick confirmed this and noticed that they appeared
as though they were bitten off. Immediately I suspected a changeling,
because...well, it would not be difficult for one to morph their hand into a
jaw-like-object and cut all the connections. I also began
to fear that maybe someone was counting on the biobeds being
non-operational... for an attack. On either one person or the entire ship. If
our medical facilities were inoperable, it would give the enemy a great
advantage. I notified Neil of my concerns, however, I think he was occupied.
At this point, an ion burst, or something (nobody tells the doctor whats
going on) hit the ship. This, I understand, is a natural phenomina that
occurs in the badlands. Decks 10-12 lost power because of this marvel of
nature. Ellen, Nick, Valdyr, and myself went to administer medical aid. Soon,
I realized that some of the worse cases needed to be transfered to sickbay.
So I gave an order: All of the patients who were badly wounded, and beyond
the help of a med kit were to be transported directly to sick
bay where I would attend to them. We had two patients who had severe
lacerations - complete with crushed tissue, and a few puncture wounds. Our
other patient had head trauma.
I have heard a rumor that our port warp nacell exploded. Doctors are the last
to know about these things. I do know, however, that we are en route to Deep
Space Nine for some major repair work to something with our warp drive.

kiddnapped them from their runabout. LtCmr Kurn is in charge of the ship
while the Capt. and XO are away. We are currently chasing them into the
Neutral Zone. EnsJay and I neutralized the sheilds on the
