Candace was born on Mars Colony to Jonathan and Karen Nehera.
Candace was discovered to have a unsually high I.Q. at age 2. When Canadace
was 3 her sister Julia was born. Julia also turned out to have a hign I.Q.
The girls were close. They helped
each other on asignments and did everything together.
Candace never had many friends her age. Most of her older friends
got assignments on ships, when she was just getting into the Academy. Her
sister was her only friend until she met Katrina Myers, Kibby Jelk, and Klarg
Son of Kalar, who were young scholars like herself. They hung around together
and studied. Katrina and Candace even roomed together at the Academy for 2
years.
She decided to transfer to the USS Roddenberry in December of
9700.00. When she attepmted to leave, she was so called "brainwashed" by
fellow crew member Lt. (JG) Jake Vargo. He eventually returned her to the
Roddenberry after holding her hostage for the night. He is currently being
held in a high secruity pinel colony.
On Stardate 9803.03, Candace Nehera married fellow crew member
Lieutenant Commander Edward Darign. They were married by Captain Stewart
Scully, and she was given away by First Lieutenant Sidney O'Connor.

I was born on the Terran homeworld to a Klingon mother and a Betazoid dad. I
was raised in the Little Poland district in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA.
Because of my rather colorful heritage, I have always been intrigued with
languages and cultures. I also have had a struggle dealing with the aspects
of my inner self--conflicting emotions, identity, etc. I guess that's why I
gravitated toward linguistics, anthropology, and
psychology. After graduating with honors from the University of
Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a BA in psycholinguistics, I taught school for a
while. I then went to U.C.-Berkely for an MS in psychology, and received my
MD via correspondence course from Harvard Medical School. Later I moved to
San Diego where I met my husband, David (a human). We were married after a
longtime friendship.

My field of choice was (and is) that of psychiatrist and fashion designer
specializing in chic straitjackets for Psychbay patients. After additional
courses at Starfleet Academy, I was posted to the USS Roddenberry as
counselor on Stardate 9606.15. I served briefly as CMO after Dr. Valdyr
transferred to the USS Eclipse. My husband Dave resides on the Roddenberry as
a civilian and is a freelance graphic designer.

My native language is English, and I am fluent in French and German. I have
a novice-level working knowledge of Polish and Spanish, and a moderate
working knowledge of ASL (American Sign Language). Unfortunately, my parents
chose not to speak Klingon or Betazoid at home; I know only a few words in
each language and have just begun a formal study of Klingon with the Klingon
Language Institute. I would also like to learn Vulcan and Ferengii. I'm
fascinated by "unknown" languages with a different psycholinguistic base from
those languages we most commonly encounter, for example, the imagery-based
language of the Tamarians.

I enjoy serving as ship's counselor on the USS Roddenberry. I am intuitive,
assertive, and have some telepathic skills. My sense of humor is on the wacky
side, so I can strongly relate to the rest of the crew, many of whom reside
from time to time in Psychbay. My interests include, but are not limited to,

Mavelle is about 5'5 ft tall. She weights about 105 lbs. Her skin is tanned
lightly.  Her hair is about mid-chest length.  It's neither curled or
straight, just bodied enough to define her soft hearted face and to seem like
waves of the oceans.  Her hair is dark brown with soft highlights.  However,
Mavelle refuses to have her hair down so she always styles it into a tight
French twist.  Her eyes are her best features.  They are said to be full of
mystery, understanding, and complete knowledge.  Deep lilac, her eyes are
considered jewels of any race for no one has been discovered to wear the
color with charm and beauty.

PERSONAL HISTORY:
Mavelle first grew up as Serenity Marie Troi. Believing she was part of the
Troi family, she grew to understand and respect what the responsibilities of
a Troi was. However, as she was stationed onboard the USS Integrity, she
discovered that her real identity was erased from her memory as a child. She
went back home to discover the truth. Upon returning Serenity changed her
name to her birth name, Mavelle Katara Rand. Only known information states
that Mavelle had been genetically altered to "host" the countless souls of a
past civilization.

Mavelle was believed to have been born on Betazed. She was the daughter of
Katrina and Andrew Rand, rulers of the 1st House until the experiment. She
studied to become a physcologist and ambassador until she was 18. Upon just
turning 18, she decided to join Starfleet against the wishes of both her
sister and mother. Mavelle, even though knowing about the conspiracy, still
keeps a close tie to Deanna and Lwaxana Troi.

INTERESTS/ABILITIES:
Mavelle loves fine arts with a passion. She is most interested in Earth's
early fine arts development around the Victorian and Renaissance era. Mavelle
loves to act and can do it well. But her best talent is her wonderful voice.
She can carry a tune without a musical instrument to help her. Many times, as
a cadet, she was asked to be the entertainment for small gathering and such.
She can also plays the flute, violin, and  piano. Mavelle also enjoys
reading old Earth classics and science fiction novels. Her favorites are War
and Peace, Pride and Prejudice, and Jane Eyre. In her free time, she often
stays in her quarters and writes or reads. Mavelle is a complete telepath.
 Mavelle also loves to ice-skate and has even won a silver Olympic medal in
the games in Vienna, Austria.

WEAKNESSES:
Mavelle is a mixture of stubborness and loyalty. She has a tendency to not
back down from an arguement until she is proven to be wrong. Plagued with a
soft heart, Mavelle has been known to be difficult when it comes to an issue
she believes in. She is a strong believer that an officer is dedicated, not
only to the captain but mostly to the crew.  She also has a tendency to
receive extremely serve headaches due to emotional stress or from what she
calls "telepathic overload" (the memories of the experiment and the addition
of the telepathic strength of the lost souls of those encased in her).  She's
been known to get annoyed when a doctor approaches her to treat her injuries.

Mavelle is extremely outgoing at times, but in her heart she is incredibly
shy and quiet (though most of the crew don't believe it).  She has been said
to be extremely kind and caring to her friends and will stay clear of her
enemies to avoid a conflict unless provoked to do otherwise.  She also wears

dimension. He met a cadet named Kate Lup in a bar on Earth following a

He was stationed aboard the Uss Roddenberry, and despite his "my way or the
high way" attitude about orders, has managed to work his way to
LieutenantCommander. Pending further investigation, the rest of Jay's

As stated, Jay was not born on Earth. He was born in another dimension, and
somehow made his way to Earth. After graduating the academy, he was posted
to the Roddenberry. Following a series of missions that have been
classified, Jay's biological form and essence were radically altered to his
current state of being.
Psychologically, Jay is a bit hot tempered or stubborn, always believing he
knows the best way to do something. Despite this, he was able to make
friends with a few people on the ship, one of those people even wormed her
way into his heart, and they eloped.
Jay works well enough with the crew on missions, but off hours he likes to be
alone, to relieve the stresses of life. He can usually be found in the
HoloDeck, perfecting his battle skills, drawing in his room, or just spending
some time with Kitty.

Brief History and Evaluation Report.:

The First Born from a Human Father and a Vulcan Mother both very
involved with Starfleet and the Federation council respectively Daniel
Mancuso had a typical "human" childhood in the outskirts of the city of San
Francisco ... he attended the Fleet's School and graduated in the top 5% of
his High school class.. he was very able and active in sports and other
extracurricular activities ... he was voted most likely to become a Teacher
by his
Graduating classmates.. and he proved them right in a way.. after graduating
he took the Academy entrance exam and passed it on his first try ... he
gravitated to the ops and com area and didn't let go of that graduating from
the academy in the top 3% of his class ... all his posting emulate that
liking toward Operations and Communications...all the while he Has always
maintained A high level of physical workouts and sports. Enjoying basketball
and
American football.... His love for computers has always stayed with him and
its pictured in his extensive Holodeck programs. Ranging from simple
panoramic views of planets to elaborate sports programs and personal combat
programs....

Mr. Mancuso, has been very mobile in his posting due to his ability to
teach others that which he knows ... in many occasions he has given training
session to fellow crewmates. and has certified them for systems operations
(He Has Starfleet-Evaluator status and Certification Approval 55-011, in
Ops,Nav,Com, and Stel.Cart.)in many areas ... his expertise in communications
traffic and Starship operations has earned him the respect of his CO's in
the Past. Including Captain Jean Luc Picard of the late Starship Enterprise
(Ncc-1701D), who was his CO in the Stargazer. In many occasions Starfleet

that I am Out in space. It is there that the real problems arise. Not in a
classroom. Its out there that I can be of much more help to keep all of
our ships and crews alive in the face of the unknown....." Mr. Mancuso had
been on Earth assisting the crews that have been docking on Spaceport 1 and
debriefing other Operations and Communications officer from the Starship's
coming from the deep space missions ... Shortly after this interview he left
with the crew of the USS Saratoga.

In short. Mr. Mancuso's record has been exemplary ... unfortunately his
upward movement has not been as great as his experience dictates.. due mostly
to his constant transfers ... they have made it rather difficult for his CO's
to really get to know him enough to evaluate him for a promotion as fast as
he should have been ... in the Psychological profile of Mr. Mancuso this
evaluator asked him if he felt chastised because all of his
Graduating classmates had their own commands and he was still a Lieutenant
Commander ...His answer was... "As long as I can do the job I like and
Starfleet is happy with it I'm OK to go up slowly. But I intend to be
Captain someday. And I'm working for that goal....." Mr. Mancuso is
Assertive and Very Goal oriented and has a very good balance of education and
Mental Control. His Vulcan training and Background helps him stay Cool under
fire.
This was verified by the Lifeboat Survivors of the USS Stargazer which
drifted in space for 2 weeks until they were rescued by another Starship.
His crewmates, have testified of his total control and his undivided
attention to those of the crew that could not handle the pressure of the
confined spaces of the lifeboat he was in...

On a more personal note... Mr. Mancuso has 2 brothers and 2 sisters
that are younger than him. They are all in Starfleet and have their own
Careers in the Service...

Mancuso's Father Commodore Peter Mancuso Was stationed as the Sector 001
Defense Coordinator and His Mother Syban, KY is the Vulcan Attache for
Offworld Operations of the Vulcan Embassy on Earth.

Two Years ago Ambassador, Ky was recalled to Vulcan for deliberations to
the possibility of the unification effort by Ambassador Spock with the
Romulan Star Empire. Commodore Mancuso was Taken ill and had gone through
two surgical procedures to extricate malignant nodules in his Lymphatic
system. Later Commodore Mancuso Died of post-Operation complications.

found that he was in command of a prototype runabout in a secret shakedown
cruise on the gamma quadrant, all communication and telemetry was lost after
a few months...No word was received by Starfleet Command on the progress or
failure on the Runabout since its passage through the Bajoran Wormhole on

Case History:
Subject was rescued from an escape pod that passed through the Bajoran
wormhole from the Gamma Quadrant, No record exist in Starfleet of the subject
leaving Federation Space and No orders were issued to this Officer to go on
any mission to this Quadrant.
Initially Starfleet Intelligence suspected that this was an attempt from
The Dominion to Infiltrate Starfleet Command But after Blood Testing Proved
the Subject was Human other considerations came into effect. Extensive
Consultations have been done with other members of the command structure of
the Research & Development Branch and it has come to our knowledge that
testing of a new Type of shuttle was initiated without consent from the
Federation Council or Starfleet Command.
The Subject had extensive and massive injuries encompassing 75 percent
of his body with loss of the right eye and needed amputation of the right leg
at the knee. Extensive regeneration of the skin on the remaining part of the
leg was needed and a cybernetic implant was installed. Before an optical
replacement for the right eye was installed the subject declined the
procedure. As is typical with subject's that have passed through stressful
situations part of his hair has turned white.
Psychologically he is healthy, therapy sessions should be instituted by
this Doctor or by ship's Doctor should he go back to active duty in a
Starship. I am recommending such therapy sessions for the next 6 to 12
months on a weekly basis and a reevaluation at the end of that time.
The Subject was extremely difficult to manipulate or control after the
recuperation period of his injuries passed, his need to "be alone" resurfaced
time and again. He has had trouble accepting instructions and orders from
superior officers and has acted in a negative attitude. Since therapy
started his attitude has changed to a more subdued one and his actions toward
command figures have changed to a more orthodox one. Although he still
feels more comfortable in solitude than in the company of others he has
started to play the instruments he had learned in the past. I recommend his
re-instalation to active duty and transfer as soon as possible to a Starship.

Personal Logs From Entity Spy

Arbmos...a sentient being part of the silent legions of the Dominion...the
perfect Mole... a complete duplicate of the original...memories, identifying
marks even DNA sequence. Perfectly duplicated, or better the alien was
undetectable since it lost its original body to become the new duplicate.
When the body died it died with it. A one way trip to complete the mission.
It was a perfect plan, with the changelings all ready in
place in various ranks of Starfleet and the Federation council it was easy
for Arbmos to pass through the filtering system and the blood check and the
DNA scans and every test that the body of Danny Mancuso was subjected to, to
prove he wasnt a changeling. After the Jem Hadar caught Mancuso just before
he came to the wormhole threshold they incarcerated him and then informed the
founders of the Starfleet officer they had, they then contacted the
network of spies and moles throughout the federation and Starfleet command
and found out who this lonely and broken man was. they decided that it would
be beneficial to have a spy working in one of the federations best ship's
hence Arbmos was activated and was Taken to the detention cell were Dan was
held. Arbmos could remember now the process as he evolved slowly from
proximity and acquired all the physical and mental characteristics of this
man.
Then the final step was the memory transferred...after that Arbmos became
The Man.

Addendum II to Personnel Jacket:

The Entity Named Arbmos died helping rescue the real Daniel Mancuso from
the Dominion Prison Asteroid. Lt. Commander Mancuso was rescued by the crew
of the USS Columbia. Were he was later transferred for active duty after his
recovery. His sense of Humor has been slowly returning to normal and his
scars are almost gone at this moment. Due to his extended stay in the prison
camp Starfleet intelligence has kept An eye on Mr. Mancuso just in
case he is another entity in disguise....

LT Logan Volox

1: Increased mental ability with high aptitude in the applied sciences.
During testing at the Starfleet Academy, LT Volox was shown to have high ESP

Species: Tarake (a type of a Changeling). Tarakians are different from

can apparently morph endlessly. Tarakians are different. They can keep a
'solid' form endlessly. However, the action of changing form is very tiring
and cannot be done very often without much rest, and is also made more
difficult by illness or injury. Original location of this species is
unknown, but suspected to be in the Delta Quadrant. Speculation is that some
Tarakians came through an unstable worm hole to the Alpha Quadrant. Their
Home World was a very hot planet - a ringed world with a binary star - two
white dwarfs. The planet was so hot that normal organic life could not
evolve. The Tarakian Changelings came from a small continent at a polar
region -
probably the coolest place on the planet. A group of Tarekians now live in
the Beta Quadrant on an outpost-type colony that is friendly with the
Federation.

Also, Tarakians mature differently than most humanoids. They enter puberty
approximately a decade (sometimes more) later than most humanoid species.

Biography:

Kate entered Starfleet Academy at the age of 20. After 3 years of studying
at the Academy, Kate graduated first in his class. After being given command
of the soon to be decommissioned USS Sarek, Kate went on to take Surgical
Techniques course, feeling that medicine was more important than command.
After finishing this course Kate was then assigned to USS Odyssey. During
Kate's time aboard the Ody she met, worked with and bonded to Sarvok
Cha'Tavek. After having their daughter, Elizabeth Jora, and transferring to
the USS Eclipse, Sarvok disappeared, to reappear aboard the USS Darmok, with
his old love Damara. Since Kate knew Sarvok no longer cared for her, and
wanted to be with Damara, she ended the bond in a ceremony on Vulcan, with
the help of her friends KNuChi and Algar. Soon after, in a special Klingon
ceremony, Kate and KNuChi became blood sisters. Kate had transferred back to
the Odyssey shortly after Sarvok transferred to the Darmok, where she served
as Chief Science Officer. A short time later Kate was transferred back to her
beloved sickbay as Chief Medical Officer once more. Kate is worked on
several scientific projects. Genetics has become an avid interest, thanks in
part to a mission to stop a meteorite from hitting Bajor. On one of the
larger fragments, the AT found what looks like a new, genetically engineered
JemHadar.

Ethan arrived on Earth in the early 1600's. His original intention was to
study the primative inhabitants for his thesis' he had to write to get his
PhD's in Sociology, Psychology and Social-Psychology. When his race was
nearly destroyed by the Borg, he decided to make a life for himself on Earth
and vowed he wouldn't allow the same to happen to his new home.
He began trying to subtly influence the inhabitants through his own
children, towards advances in the sciences and a more balanced form of
government. In the late 1600's, under his name at the time (Baron de la
Brede et de Montesquieu) he wrote a vitally important book called 'De
l'esprit des lois' (The Spirit of Laws), he was residing in Paris at the
time.
Time passed and the advances came slowly, far more slowly than he had
anticipated. In the early 1700's he relocated to the large land mass in the
northern hemisphere everyone was calling "The New World". During this period
a woman he was seeing gave birth to his favorite son of all his children,
Benjamin. He was the child that most took to heart Ethan's teachings, with
over 500 inventions to his credit; Benjamin refused to patent anything that
would be of general benefit to mankind. Ethan had spoken of Paris so often
while Ben was growing up, eventually Benjamin went there and became the
Colonies ambassador to France.
A variety of names, locations, wives and lives later, he found himself back
in America yet again, having relocated from Poland. With the advent of World
War I and having so recently emigrated from one of the invaded countries,
Ethan could no longer remain aloof so he joined the military. When the war
ended, Ethan was shocked to discover he'd actually enjoyed being in the
service during a time of war. It brought out both the best and the worst in
people and he found it brought out the best in himself.
Before Pearl Harbor happened, Ethan had already joined the military and was
placed in the U.S. Army Rangers. This single event was to shape the next 500
years of his life. From then on, he served only in Special Operations Units
during times of war. Until fairly recently, he had considered his most
dangerous tour of duty from 1992 to 1996 during the Eugenics Wars. Now, just
having "retired" from the newest Starfleet Clandestine Special
Operations Unit, known simply as the Anti-Borg Specialist Unit, the Eugenics
Wars seem now like a walk in the park to him.
He has a sizeable collection of antiquities, enjoys most forms of physical
exercise, including sports, loves to play chess (tri-level and standard),
reads voraciously, has an unusual "empathy" with animals (except for snakes)
and is a very good listener. His rank at the time of his latest retirement
was Command Sergeant Major (SO Units use different ranks than the rest of
Starfleet).
Ethan currently has multiple PhD's, numerous Masters' and a host of BA's.
To date, he has earned nearly every possible award, ribbon and commendation
in Starfleet and the Federation, including the Medal of Valor and the Medal
of Honor. The only one he's never received in all his time in the service is
the Good Conduct Ribbon.
Because of his height and muscular build, most people are shocked to
discover he's more than exceptionally intelligent. He has a habit of
furrowing his brow when he's thinking, this gives him the appearance of being
pissed off, even when he isn't. Because of his Starfleet record (since the
Romulan Wars in 2156), nearly everyone is surprised to discover he has a
well-developed sense of humor and taught courses SFA 117 and SFA 127 -
Artistic
Expression I and II. Thanks to compound interest and several pensions from
when he's "retired" over the years, he is financially secure for the rest of
his life. Selling off a couple of his antiquities would accomplish much the
same thing, though he never would because of his personal attachment's to
them.
The day Kate T'Lara had received her own Command, he immediately applied for
a transfer. It was flatly denied, so he resigned from active service (not
for the first time either), bought a runabout, had it quickly customized to
his specifications and hot-footed it to the Roddenberry in the hopes that she
would allow him aboard as a civilian advisor. Kate had been a student of his
at the Academy and Ethan had instantly spotted her remarkable innate
abilities of Command. He has followed her career every step of the way,
since the day she graduated, using his various contacts.

PROPULSION SYSTEMS

The Roddenberry, designed and built by R&D specialists including USFBR&D
Senior Director Alexander O'Brien, is the conglomeration of proven and new
technologies recently made available to USF vessels. The Modified Nebula
class was deemed acceptable as a testbed vessel, and after several major
upgrades, systems refits and installations, and structural modifications, the
Nebula Advanced class was born.
The Roddenberry is one of few Starfleet vessels to incorporate a dual warp
core assembly. This new approach, finally made possible by several major
leaps in technology, allows for a substantial increase in power availability,
as well as the security of being able to lose a warp core. Both warp cores,
to facilitate maximum power production, contain dilithium focus lenses.
Seperate M/ARC ejection and isolation systems have been installed, and while
the two cores are run by a central operations system, there are auxiliary
support systems for each seperate core. Engineering is in no way dissimilar
to that of a Nebula class starship, save that instead of the one central warp
core, there are now the two cores symmetrically positioned 3.5 meters apart.
The Roddenberry implements the use of two warp nacelles, as is standard on
most Starfleet vessels; however, each one is much more powerful and efficient
than those of the original Nebula class. Each M/ARC supports the nacelle on
it's side. The port warp core supplies power to the port warp nacelle,
starboard to starboard.


NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEMS

Due to the speeds the Roddenberry must keep up and the implementation of the
navigational deflectors, more powerful and efficient navigational systems are
required.
The navigational deflectors have been increased in power by 201% over the
rated maximum of a Modified Nebula class to counter objects impacting the
ship at higher relative velocities. Also, the navigational deflectors
decrease stress on the warp nacelle support pylons, in conjunction with the
structural integrity fields.
In addition, the navigational sensor array has been upgraded to support
near-transwarp velocities, continually scanning 360 by 360 degrees every 3.9
picoseconds, and feeding the information directly into the primary
navigational subprocessors.


TACTICAL/DEFENSIVE SYSTEMS

TACTICAL MULTITASKING:

Weapons system multitasking allows the ship to fire more than one type of
weapon at once. It sends weapon signals along diverted routes so that they
don't cross each other and confuse themselves. The multitasking system is the
primary operation system for tactical.
The "fire at will" system transfers total control of tactical systems to the
computer in battle situations. It is a "last chance" system, designed so that
the ship locks onto all enemy targets and fires continuous barrage until
ordered to pause the enemy is destroyed, or the ship which is operating "fire
at will" is destroyed. If paused for 2 min., the system will automatically
deactivate. This system is controlled by the automation system and
operated by the multitasking program.
Tactical analysis of all systems is a function which gives the Tac. officer
up-to-the-minute information on all systems, and increases operation speed of
the weapons system. A screen on the tactical station's panel offers the
information on each system as requested, or shows pertinent tactical
information, such as phaser power, torpedo readiness, reserves, and how many
of each type are available. Also, extended information on shield strength and
power, damage control, security readiness, and power reserves for diversion
to tactical systems. This is another advantage of the multitasking system.
The newest addition to the multitasking system is a new weapon targeting
system. The system will display a grid on the tactical panel which will
display the information on the configuration of the enemy vessel, such as the
locations of its critical systems and areas (such as main power, weapons
systems, etc.) This allows the Tac. officer to target a specific area of
space or a specific point on the enemy ship on which to fire. A weapon select
screen
appears, allowing choice of phasers, ion blasts, torpedoes, which kind, and
strength.
In addition to the multitasking system, the Roddenberry supports multiple
weapon power systems. Besides extremely powerful phasers and photon
torpedoes, there are optional energy supplies for different weapon effects.
These will be discussed later.

SHIELDS & DEFLECTOR:

The deflector system is the primary defensive system on all classes of
starships. It is a series of powerful deflector shields that protect both the
spacecraft and its crew from both natural and artificial hazards.
Like most force field devices, the deflector system creates a localized zone
of highly focused spatial distortion within which an energetic graviton field
is maintained. The deflector field itself is emitted and shaped by a series
of conformal transmission grids on the spacecraft exterior, resulting in a
field that closely follows the form of the vehicle itself. The field is
highly resistive due to mechanical incursions ranging from relativistic
subatomic particles to more massive objects at lesser relative velocities.
When such an intrusion occurs, field energy is concentrated at the point of
impact, creating an intense, localized spatial distortion.
To an observer aboard the Roddenberry, it appears that the intruding object
has "bounced off" the shield. A zero-dimensional observer on the intruding
object would, however, perceive that his/her trajectory is unaffected, but
that the location of the starship has suddenly changed. This is somewhat
analogous to the spatial distortion created by a natural gravity well, and is
typically accompanied by a momentary discharge of Cerenkov radiation, often
perceived as a brief blue flash. The deflector is also effective against wide
range of electromagnetic, nuclear, and other radiated and field energies.
The deflector systems utilizes one or more graviton polarity source
generators whose output is phase-synchronized through a series of subspace
field distortion amplifiers. Flux energy for the Primary Hull is generated by
7 field generators located on deck 10. The Nebula class starships had 5
generators on deck 10. Four additional generators are located on the
Secondary Hull, as opposed to the three found on regular Nebula class
starships. Two
additional generators are located in each of the warp nacelles. The
Roddenberry includes 4 backup generators if any of them fail in a crisis
situation. Each generator consists of a cluster of thirteen 46 MW graviton
polarity sources feeding a pair of 680 millicochrane subspace field
distortion amplifiers.
Providing shielding against the entire spectrum of electromagnetic radiation
would prove far to energy-costly for normal cruise mode use. Additionally, a
full-spectrum shielding would prevent onboard sensors from gathering many
types of scientific and tactical data. Instead, Cruise Mode operate at the
relatively low level (approximately 5% of rated output) and at the specific
frequency bands necessary to protect the spacecraft's habitable volume to
SFRA-standard 347.3 levels for EM and nuclear radiation. During Alert
situations, shields are raised to defensive configuration by increasing
generator power to at least 85% of rated output.
The metaphasic shield was introduced about 3 years ago by a Ferengi
scientist. However, with recent improvements made by Starfleet has made the
type one metaphasic shield seem obsolete. By using the main deflector dish we
have been able to enhance the metaphasic shield. The new metaphasic shield
has been classified as the Type II metaphasic shield which operates at 225%
of optimal compared to the old metaphasic shield. It allows the ship to stay
in
standard orbit around a star for generally around 24 hours before the
radiation penetrates the shield.

The following modifications to the shields were proposed by the late
Johnathan Drake, Computer Resource Officer, and approved and implemented by
Chief Engineer Ray Packard and Acting Captain Jalilar Valdyr on Stardate
9806.27:

1. Liquid Crystal shields- generate two thin high powered force fields around
the ship, then flood the space between them (About three centimeters) with
gaseous quartzite. The low temperatures in space should liquefy the gas. It
will stay in liquid form because of the heat of the force shields. If the
outer shield is punctured, the crystal will immediately solidify, and become
totally impregnable. We would have to fly near a star to get it off of us.
If that happens the ups are that no enemy weapon of any kind or any
transporter beam can penetrate it. the down side is that the same goes for
us...nothing gets out. This would come in handy later. I suggest we run with
this one if we get into dire straights.
2. Atomic modulation of the Shield frequency. - The shields are generated by
exciting molecular particles with a High energy plasma stream. If we modulate
the Plasma stream to the higher frequency band, we'll get a different
modulation...maybe one that we can keep up in the bad lands. Also if we swap
out the dilithium particles in the shield emitters with some Calcium bromide,
we'll get a whole new shield configuration, one that I know will work in
the Badlands.
3. De-evolution of the shields- The Constitution class starship shield design
allowed for tuning of the shield frequency to a specific energy pattern, to
keep it out. In later ships (Excelsior and up) the shields were designed with
a broader scope. they try to keep everything out. If we reprogram the shields
with a constitution configuration, we could tune them to the energy pattern
of the Badlands.

ARMORED HULL:

The Roddenberry incorporates an advanced design in hull armoring that has not
until recently become possible. Early starships were painted with a light
grey thermocoat, coloring the ship as well as adding a minimal level of
armor, and protecting the primary hull exterior from heat effects. However,
this process was eliminated as of the refit of the Enterprise, having been
found that the thermocoat added little protection, but added several thousand
more tons to the weight of the ship.
The increased strength of the hull is due mostly to the discovery of a new
material, quadmium alloy. This alloy is considerably more resilient than
duranium or duranium composites. Also, included in the alloy are small
amounts of superinsulative material thus reducing the effectiveness of most
energy weapons, and decreasing heat damage. Finally, the hull is made to
ablate to ablate rather than rupture, thus allowing it to last longer,
especially
under the incendiary detonations of photon torpedoes.


PHASERS:

As installed in the original Nebula class, the main ship's phasers were rated
as type X, which were once was the largest emitter available for starships.
They were capable of producing 5.1 megawatts. The next generation of
shipboard phasers, the XII (installed on the Roddenberry), is capable of
directing 11.6 megawatts, dramatically increasing damage inflicted upon an
opposing spacecraft. These are new phasers designed by the USF Bureau of
Research
and Development for use on all USF vessels, replacing the now obsolete Type X
arrays. The USS Roddenberry carries slightly upgraded models of the newly
designed phasers. In addition, the Roddenberry carries two Type XII-A
subspace multifrequency phaser array prototypes. This weapons system has yet
to see widespread testing, but it is believed the effectiveness of the new
array will be proven by its installation on board Roddenberry. Presently,
technical information on the Type XII-A phaser array is restricted to
authorized personnel only.
The XII phaser banks are located on the battle section aft array, nacelle
plyon array, and the battle section ventral array. The Type XII-A phaser
arrays replaced their Type XII counterparts on the saucer dorsal and ventral
areas, thus bringing this new weapon to bear immediately on all targets.
A typical large phaser array aboard the original USS Nebula consisted of two
hundred emitter segments in a dense linear arrangement for optimal control of
firing order, thermal effects, field halos, and target impacts. The USS
Roddenberry is carrying in the large phaser arrays the increased number of
three hundred fifty emitter segments, capable of improving the overall
performance of the phaser system. Groups of emitters are supplied by
redundant
sets of energy feeds from the primary trunks of the electro plasma system
(EPS), and are similarly interconnected by fire control, thermal
management, and sensor lines. The visible hull surface configuration of the
phaser is a long shallow raised strip, the bulk of the hardware submerged
within the vehicle frame.
The first stage of the array segment is the EPS submaster flow regulator, the
principal mechanism controlling phaser power levels for firing. The flow
regulator leads into the plasma distribution manifold (PDM), which branches
into two hundred supply conduits to an equal number of prefire chambers. The
final stage of the system is the phaser emitter crystal.
The ion blasts disable most ship's systems by ionizing the power systems.
This renders affected systems inoperable, but not destroyed. The effects of
ionic flooding dissapate over time, and no known remedy has yet been found.
Also, these blasts have the effect of activating plasma coils, which are used
in cloaking devices. The cloaking device would engage, thus rendering the
ship vulnerable for a short time.


QUANTUM TORPEDOES:

The standard photon torpedo carried by the Nebula class is elongated,
eliptical tube, constructed of molded and expanded duranium and plasma bonded
terminium outer skin. The complete casing of the Nebula class torpedoes
measured 2.1 x 0.76 v 0.45 meters and masses 247.5 kilograms dry weight. The
new quantum torpedoes installed with Roddenberry has the same dimensions of
the previous photon torpedoes, but the weight has decreased from 247.5
kilograms
to 232.0 kilograms, utilizing a new propulsion system that decreases weight,
yet increases maximum effective tactical range to 5,525,000 kilometers. The
torpedoes are designed so that with a few adjustments to existing hardware,
any class starship is able to use them.
Nebula Advanced class photon torpedoes use a multimode sustainer engine that
is capable of almost breaking the warp barrier. The Roddenberry quantum
torpedoes have engine modifications that decrease weight, as above, and
slightly increase speed and target accuracy. Accuracy is rated to have
collision within 0.59 meters of the true target or closer.
The actual firing operation occurs in 4 launcher tubes, 2 in the forward
section of the AWACS package mounted on the secondary hull, and two in the
aft section of Deck 31
Each launcher is downstream from six loader stations where the M/A fuels are
injected six torpedoes at one time in the new Roddenberry.
Also, a high-energy plasma generator has been installed to interact with the
torpedo systems, and may be used to charge torpedoes instead. The plasma
torpedoes have a more profound effect on shields, draining those defenses
much faster then standard torpedoes. Also, the shield generators would
eventually sustain plasma shock and be disabled. Plasma shock causes minimal
permanent damage to the generators, but takes an extended period of time to
wear
off. Plasma torpedoes, though one of the most effective shield smashers
available, cause negligible damage to the hull, and especially to armored
hulls such as that of the Roddenberry. Minor burn damage and almost no chance
of hull penetration are the extent of plasma torpedoes, though exposed system
components, such as shield and deflector generators, may sustain plasma
shock.

RIPPER BEAMS:

One of the most destructive weapons technologies we've ever worked on, the
ripper beam is, in fact, a combination of many standard technologies into a
devastatingly powerful and destructive weapon.
The ripper beam is, simply put, a tractor/repulser weapon. The beam, when
fired, utilizes both the pulling properties of a highly-tuned tractor beam in
combination with the pushing powerful of a repulsor, or reverse-polarized
tractor beam. In the beam, the sections of each are random, and throughout
the pulse, change constantly. Instead of phasering through the hull of the
opponent's ship, it rips the hull to pieces, causing massive metal fatigue
and
hull deterioration throughout. Damage caused by a ripper beam is
significantly more difficult to repair, and forcefields cannot always conform
exactly to the often bizarre shapes caused by this attack.
Ripper beams, while extremely powerful, do have a few limitations. First,
their range is limited; in comparison with phasers, which have a virtually
unlimited tactical range, ripper beams is only effective at ranges of 750,000
kilometers or less, range disappation increasing rapidly after about half a
million kilometers. Also, ripper beams cause some structural stress to the
ship on which they are implanted. The Roddenberry's AWACS package, however,
has been suitably reinforced, and few if any problems are anticipated for the
first 20 years of operation.

COMPUTER SYSTEMS:

The USs Roddenberry uses a standard LCARS Computer and interface, though
several modifications and changes have been made by crew members for use at
their workstations, or Holo-programming.

incidents, demotions, loss of face, and whatnot, actually happened in SIM.

Special Abilities: Jay is a powerful telepath and bioluminescent. These
conditions resulted from a run in with an alien entity which transformed Jay
into his current state. Further information regarding that incident is
highly classified.

As for other skills, Jay is an exceptional shuttle pilot and equally skilled
shuttle mechanic.
Jay has mastered the Katana sword, and also has exceptional knowledge of most
StarFleet and non-StarFleet weapons.

History: Most of Jay's history has been either erased or classified, and
known only to his friends. It is known that, in his original humanoid form,
he was not of this dimension, and his people were murdered by the Romulans.
Jay swore vengeance that day. Jay roamed for a while, as a freelance pirate
for hire. He ended up in a San Fransisco bar, talking to Ensign Kate Lup, a
science officer from the Uss Roddenberry. Kate persuaded Jay to enroll
in the Academy, which Jay did, finding it his quickest way to get back at
the Romulans.

Academy Record: Jay managed to bribe and cheat his way into StarFleet
Academy. However, the teachers made it hell for him, and he began to fail
many classes. However, he recovered, and managed to pass all of his classes.
Graduated last in his class. Since his ambition was to kill all Romulans, it
blinded his better judgement. He majored in Security, and minored in
Tactical.

StarFleet Record: Jay's record is nothing to crow about. It ranges from
mediocre to downright horrible. He has been cited many times for assault
upon other officers, talking out of turn, disobeying orders, willfull and
unwillfull destruction of StarFleet property, reckless endangerment of other
officers, abandonment of duty, and insubordination. He has botched numerous
away team missions. Most recently he was under the scrutiny of the High
Command for classified reasons. Higher Security Clearance is needed to
access this information.

Upon completion of a court martial, Jay was demoted and transferred of the
Roddenberry. After serving a short stint as Chief of Security aboard the Uss
DarkPath, Jay resigned from StarFleet.

For about a month, Jay's wherabouts were unknown. Following the short
dissapearance, he showed up at Starbase 401. He enlisted in the StarFleet
Marine Corps and served for a short time before being requested back to his
position aboard the Roddenberry. he accepted and serves in his old post of
Chief of Security aboard the Uss Roddenberry.

Mental Profile: Jay has been judged "insane" by his friends, and "close to
it" by a Counsoler. He swings to the extremes of the emotional spectrum,
laid back one minute, and utterly insane with rage the next. He either
doesn't take something seriously, or he takes it too seriously. Most of the
time, thankfully, he tends to take things not seriously enough.

When it comes to decision making and order following, Jay is very rash. He
will not hesistate to disobey and order if he believes there is a better way,
or his way (Which he sees as the better way) to do it. He finds authority
hard to stand, unless it is him.

When it comes to order giving, Jay is less rash, but still not perfect. He
doesn't tend to think things through as much as he should sometimes, and if
the situation is to tense, his personal motto tends to become "Damn the
torpedoes! Full Speed Ahead!"

Rear Admiral Scully once (accurately) described Jay as being a "Wild Gun."

Disciplinary Record:

While posted as ACE on the USS Rachel B. Hawkings with a War Time Field
Commission of First Lt. Lt. Sharp left her post in the middle of a military
attack in so endangering the lives of all the crew since her departmental CO
had issued orders to man the warp core console and maintain core integrity at
high levels to keep it from breaching. If other crew members of the
engineering section had not taken her place the Hawkings would have been
lost with all hands. Upon terminating the attack a security team was
dispatched to find Lt. Sharp and she was found in the arboretum with no
recollection of were she was or what had transgressed in the last 3 hours.
After being formally charged with dereliction of duty and reckless
endangerment plus AWOL status and not following direct orders from a CO she
was court marshaled the plea of temporary insanity was heard and a
psychological
profile was done and it was found that Lt. Sharp was lucid and in perfect
Psychological health. She was stripped of rank and sentenced to 4 years at
the NewZealand Penal Camp on Earth. After 2 years and on behest of Admiral
Sharp an Inquiry was instated and the penal record or Convict Sharp was
evaluated and found to be exemplary. The Military Review Board issued a
reduced sentence verdict on good behavior and Miss Sharp was Re-instituted to
Starfleet on a probatory basis with a rank of Ensign.

Divorce Verdict:

Ensign Sharp was married to Doctor Richard Fultran CMO of the USS Rachel B.
Hawkings. After the Court marshal of his Wife, Doctor Fultran Filed for a
divorce on the grounds of Annulment. The court did not accept the charge and
so the Doctor changed the grounds to not wanting to be associated with a
convicted felon. The courts approved the divorce with the concent of Convict
Sharp and it was made official on 2374.

Doctor Flutran was later transferred to the USS Putnam and was subsuquently
Killed In Action when this ship was destroyed by a gravimetric mine on the
Cardassian Frontier.
