History:
Jim was born on Earth in a small town located North East of 'The Cape',
Florida. He lived with his mother, Beth McKnight-Brody and his father James
Brody Sr. until he entered Starfleet Academy at age 18. Before entering the
Academy Jim was working with Deep Sea Exploration at age 15 while still
living at home. After he turned 18 he became eligible to join Starfleet
Academy and jumped at the chance to explore the new, the final frontier as
some
called it.
Jim's academic roster was rigorous. He of course as many students do
didn't do very good in all of his courses and subsequently had to reapply to
the Academy before passing and graduating 45th in his class. He's official
first duty as Cadet was Security Officer around the Academy which he had
requested, due to his friends still going threw the Academy, he figured he
could still see them until they were able to graduate.
Along with Jim's Security Training he also has a vast background in
piloting Runabouts, and various types of shuttle Craft, though never was a
member of the Nova Squadron he did receive recognition for his skills as a
pilot. On Stardate 9801.01 Cadet James Brody was promoted to Ensign and given
a new assignment aboard the USS Potemkin in the Security Department. Prior to
this his friends; McFallen, Bently, and Poe graduated Starfleet Academy
as new Cadets. Though the transport left for the Potemkin before he could
find out where his friends were posted.

withing starfleet until he receive his first official post aboard the USS
Potemkin where he currently serve's as ACSCI which was a shock to most of his
family as he had double majored in science and in engineering,and they
thought he would end up becoming an engineer,because of his experiences
onboard the freighter Midnight. He however is thrilled to be where he is,and
hopes to continue onward until possibly one day having a command of his own.

PERSONAL HISTORY:
Robert was born in Winterset, Ia to Jacob and Nicole Boone. He was taught at
an early age about farming and botany from his parents, His father a farmer
and his mother a botonist.
Robert did not wish to be a farmer, but had a mild interest in botany, but
wanted to leave Iowa to persue a career in space, particularly to enroll in
Star Fleet Academy.
He was always interested in protecting others from harm, and had the ability
to percieve danger coming with his ESP. Boone is very quite and keeps to
himself alot, he is very shy and is high
strung, often nervous around others. He is a very good officer though, and
when in the line of duty a crises arises he is calm and
collected and puts his nervousness aside. He is very suspicious of all things
and people he does not know, or trust.
His ESP and basic survival instinct signals him whatever the situation
is,when something is wrong, yet the ESP cannot tell him what the exact
problem is, just that there is a presence of danger.

Mission:
The mission of the Brig Control [BRCO] sub-detail is to provide a
secure environment of the main Brig and Detention Facilities on Deck 5. This
involves securing, monitoring & looking after any prisoners in the Brig at
any given time and monitoring the security cameras, placed all around the
ship, thru the monitors at the security control panel from the Brig office.
Brig Control works with the Security team toscout out, and monitor all ship
wide security concerns and SECTM would escort any prisoners to the BRCO area
for holding. BRCO also secures the area within the Brig to maintain security
and control of the environment of any opposing force or threat to the safety
of the crew, thru the escape of the prisoner from his holding cell.

The Brig Control sub-detail's main area is located Aft on Deck 5, the
Brig & Detention Facilities. The Brig area houses all of it's equipment, and
the holding cells as well as the main security panel, where the security
monitors are to monitor the ship wide security cameras. There are also
several computer terminals and interfaces. The Computerterminals allow direct
StarFleet access to all criminal records on file. The terminals also contains
a direct link to the communications systems, allowing incoming messages and
outgoing inquires & information to starfleet as to the nature of the
prisoner(s) being held, and communications with the roving Security Team on
the status of their security detail, and rounds.

one third Romulan. With each passing year of my life, my mother would tell
me a little more about the world she left. There were times I longed to see
Romulas but I never told my parents. I knew their feeling on that subject.
I never had a normal childhood. I would watch the human children laughing
and having fun. I was never asked to join in the fun. I lead a mostly
solitary life. When I was old enough to enter the Academy, something in my
blood made that desire strong. I never had any friends there either, so I
dedicated my years at the academy in study and learning. With my years of
learining, a need began growing. A need to heal and to learn more and more.
Education: I graduated first in my classes at school. Received numerous
awards and merits for my scholastic achievements. I was hated even more by
my peers for that. My years at the academy brought more commendations and
scholastic achievement awards and I finished in the top 1% of my class.
Starfleet Credentials: Upon graduating from the academy, I was posted
aboard the USS Potemkin as an ensign. I was promoted to Lieutenant junior
grade after about two months aboard. I perfomed my duties to the best of my
abilities and even though I didn't think any one noticed the little things,
they did. Through hard work I was promoted to full lieutenant. I was proud
of my promotion. Recently, I was promoted to First Lieutenant for continuing
hard work and dilagence. I finally became accepted for who I was and not
for what my parents were. I finally can say that I have friends.

I joined the crew of the Potemkin as they were patrolling the Cardassian
border, and arrived just in time for the doc to pull me down to Sickbay for a
physical. That was a pretty good meeting, Lieutenant Storm, the doctor,
turned out to be a Part Human / Romulan / Betazoid. It was nice to see
another Romulan face. I was worried that no one was going to like me, but I
think I can pretty much say goodbye to that
notion.
So I had the physical, and about 3/4 of the way through it, the ship
took some hits. The gravity in Sickbay went out, and left us floating. That
brought back some unpleasant memories. I think the only part of the Academy
I really hated was the Zero-G training. It makes me sick to my
stomach....ugh. So I ended up blacking out, I think.
I came to a bit later, and headed over to where Aimee was hanging onto a
biobed. I'm glad I didn't throw up, it would have totally ruined any impact
my being Romulan had on the crew. So anyway, I wasn't able to report for
security, I'm still going to, but I'll have to finish my physical first. I
honestly don't see why all the groans and "I wish you luck"'s when I went for
the physical were necessary. I liked sickbay and everything.
I hope I can join this crew and help out a lot, they seem like a very
good group. I'm just a bit self-conscious, I wish I had someone to call back
on Altima 2, to talk to and explain my feelings. It's so much easier to talk
to someone... do they have a counselor on this ship......?

Ensign Revik is a young Vulcan, and as such is in the prime of his life. He
has a genetic history of Trakkis Disease, an incurable disorder that affects
middle age Vulcans and leads to symptoms of extreme xenophobia, a strong
desire to return to the family, and violent outbreaks. It is unclear whether
Revik himself has this disorder in his genetic makeup, as it normally only
becomes apparent during the ages 50-90.

Father : Ambassador Strak, Vulcan envoy to the Trill homeworld. Age 97, has
held position for half a century.
Mother : R'Kenth, Vulcan scientist. Died age 62, when Revik was 14.

Other: Revik was engaged to a joined Trill, Kirtis Fel; she died on stardate
7907.19. During the next year, Revik entered Starfleet academy.
GENERAL FAMILY INFO: As a Vulcan family away from the homeworld, Strak and
R'Kenth endeavoured to teach their son traditional Vulcan disciplines. Revik
was compliant, but seemed to prefer the Trill lifestyle and humour. Strak
disapproved of his son's engagement. It seems that Revik and Strak have had
little contact since Revik's departure from Trill. Revik has since embraced
his heritage.
PERSONAL HISTORY
Starfleet holds little data on Revik's personal life; his duty logs are often
short and to the point, and his personal logs are heavily encrypted implying
a strong wish for privacy. His failure in explaining his reasons for leaving
Trill led to him nearly being rejected from the academy, but his sponsor,
Captain Kinkaide, convinced the admissions staff to be lenient.

SPECIAL ABILITIES / NOTES ON PHYSIOLOGY
Due to her Vulcan heritage, Sierra has demonstrated strong, but limited,
empathic healing abilities and telepathic skills, which increase through
touch. She is highly intelligent; possesses keen Vulcan hearing; and is
physically stronger than humans (due to Vulcan physiology). Sierra has the
pointed ears of a Vulcan and the nose ridges of a Bajoran. Her
daughter has inheirited these same physical traits.
PERSONAL HISTORY
Sierra grew up on Bajor, Betazed and predominantly on Vulcan. She attended
Vulcan Science Academy for four years. After graduating from VSA, she worked
for a variety of firms, predominantly on Vulcan and Sol, as a consultant and
researcher, including the presitigious Daystrom Institute. She decided to
join Starfleet on the recommendation of her cousin, Lt. Cmdr M'Hawarr Khymm,
applying to the Academy at the (terran) age of 60. Due to her father's
death at the hands of the Cardassians during their occupation of Bajor,
Sierra has a strong dislike for the Cardassian Empire.
Sierra has always excelled in her studies. She likes to fly, play sports,
paint, hike, and demonstrates a knack for strategy games like tri-level chess
and strategeum. She has recently taken up her enjoyment of kaltow again. She
also enjoys baseball and soccer.
Sierra met and became involved with Dr. (FstLt.) Darryl Ryder after her
posting to the USS Darmok. During their engagement, they went through the
mindmeld ritual, and Sierra discovered Dare's previous experiences against
one of the greatest threats against the UFP, the Furies. They were married on
SD9612.13 in a ceremony officiated by Fleet Captain Tnagra aboard the USS
Darmok. They combined both of their last names
(M'Hawarr and Ryder) to form a new name, symbolizing their union: Rhydarr.
Lieutenant Tryst Kotani served as maid of honor, and Lieutenant Jonathan
Yular was best man.
After Sierra found out that she was pregnant, Dare and Sierra seperated in an
attempt from Dare to protect his family against the Furies, whom he felt were
going to return for him. The nightmares came true when the Darmok was
investigating a strange spacial phenomenom at system JMP-983, and found
themselves in an engagement against the Furies, SD9704.09-16. After killing
the Vergo of the lead Fury ship and having his pagh
restored, Dare saw Sierra safely onto an escape pod before returning to
finish off the Fury ship. He steered the ship into the planet, and the
resulting explosion ripped apart half the planet. Dr. Ryder was presumed dead
on SD9704.16.
Sierra gave birth to their daughter, Taryn Angelique Rhydarr (9 lbs. 14 oz.),
on SD9704.23. She returned to Darryl's home in the Bennikar Valley on Bajor
to recover from the chain of events that had occured. During that time, she
discovered that Dare had been working for The Circle on Bajor, as well as for
Starfleet. Also while on Bajor, she was approached by Dr. Lewis Zimmerman for
use of her likeness as the interface for the new
long-term counseling program (LCP). She accepted and the AK-4 Long-term
Holographic Counseling Program subroutine Delta 489 (AK-4 LCP) went online
SD9705.10.
Dr. Darryl Ryder, nee Taren Dar, was found not to have died in the Fury
wreckage, but rather had been transported across part of the galaxy. He was
found by Commander Rydelik of the USS Cuautemoc in the Core Systems, and, in
an arrangement with Starfleet, returned to duty on board the Darmok as a
Starfleet Intelligence officer, SD9706.
Sierra was promoted to Commander on SD9706.06 and posted as Executive Officer
to the USS Potemkin on SD9706.12.
While on a surprise visit to see her husband at Titan Station on SD9708.25,
he surprised her by announcing that he wanted a divorce.
Sierra earned Captaincy and command of Outpost Cousteau on SD9709.11.
She was transferred to Captain of the USS Potemkin on SD9711.06.

DEFENSIVE SYSTEMS : Standard Deflector Shields; Metaphasic & Ablative
Capabilities
The deflector system is the primary defensive system on all classes of
starships. It is a series of powerful deflector shields that protect both the
spacecraft and its crew from both natural and artificial hazards. The shields
of the Akira-class starships operate using a nutational device known as the
Nutational Shield 3.1. Every ten seconds, the shield modulations changes.
This greatly effects the shield efficiency of these ships.
The Akira-class starships are also equipped with a metaphasic shield, which
allows the ships to remain in a sun's corona for periods of up to 28 hours.
The metaphasic shield allows the Akira-class vessels to study a sun's corona
very thoroughly.

WEAPONS SYSTEM : GENERAL OVERVIEW
The Potemkin-C incorporates two new weapon systems. They include the phaser
cannon and the tricobalt device. A Phaser Cannon, or most commonly known as
the Disruptor Cannon collects a large amount of phased energy and bundles it
in a cohesive shell. This shell is either magnetic or graviton based;
however, over distance it does dissapate, leaving the phased energy to escape
into space, rendering it harmless. The cannon uses a pulse
modulated graviton shell to hold the phased energy together, the energy
itself being fed directly from the warp engines [instead of from batteries
supplied by the warpcore].
The design of the Tri-Cobalt device is highly unique in the Alpha Quadrant.
It uses a three- tier warhead. One compartment is loaded with antimatter, one
with around 14 Quantum filaments, and another with appropriate amount of
Tri-Cobalt. Upon impact, a number of particle collisions and energy reactions
occur within the warhead. Firstly the Quantum filaments are released into the
Tri-Cobalt chamber creating a cascade reaction, mixing the
Tri-cobalt into a highly volatile mixture. A millisecond later the magnetic
containment field around the antimatter is released and the active Tri-Cobalt
and antiproton bundle mix together creating a lethal explosion.
The Standard Photon Torpedo has been in use now for over 100 years--their
design has changed very little although their targetting systems have. They
carry a standard load of 50% Matter [slush deuterium ion] and 50% Anitmatter
[antiprotons]. The resultant explosion of the collision can result in varying
degrees of damage to starships. The Quantum Torpedos use artificial Quantum
Fillaments as a power source. A Quantum Fillament is a natural
source of energy found in space. It has no mass and if triggered just right
can release almost astronomic amounts of energy. Using reading taken by
science teams studying natural filaments, the designers created small
artificial filaments. What makes a Quantum torpedo so powerful is that the
warhead contains 50-100 small artificial filaments. These can be powerful.
Something that could be loaded into a torpedo when their made and remain
stable
throughout a mission. The designers found such a power source in the form of
the Quantum Filament.
MEDICAL FACILITIES : DECK 4
The Medical Department on board the USS Potemkin is charged with providing
medical and health care to the ship's company and all attached personnel. The
Medical Department, under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer and
highest ranking Assistant Medical Officers, is principally located in two
Sickbay facilities on Deck 4.
The primary facility, located fore on the deck, consists of two medical
intensive care wards, the primary surgical suite, an attached laboratory, the
CMO's office, a small nursery, air purification and containment field
operations, and the main medical equipment lockers. The secondary facility,
located on the port side of the ship, also on deck 4, is similar to the
primary facility but features an additional, dedicated surgical suite, a
null-grav
therapy ward, and three dedicated biological/medical research suites. Also on
deck 4, port, are the medical laboratories. Opposite the secondary facility,
on the starboard
side of the ship, is a dental care office, a dedicated Obstetrics/Gynecology
center, and a full biohazard isolation unit. The center of deck four houses
the isolation surgical suite, physicians' offices, and the Virology Center.
In an extreme emergency, if the influx of patients overwhelms the deck 4
facilities, the large, lower Auxiliary Vessel Bay can be converted into an
Emergency Triage Ward; corridor junction nursing stations may be established
on the route between the deck 4 medical facilities, and the Emergency Triage
Ward.
SECURITY/TACTICAL FACILITIES : DECK 5
The Tactical/Security Department on the USS Potemkin is dedicated to the
safety and security of its ship, its crew, and all attached personal. To
promote security, the Tactical/Security Department utilizes the latest
technolgy, follows strict security protocol, adheres to an intensive training
and review schedule, and fosters design creativity in its team members.
The Tac/Sec Department is lead by the Chief Tactical/Security Officer [CSEC]
and the Assistant Chief Tactical/Security Officer [ACSEC]. In addition, the
department is divides into sub-details. Each sub-detail is lead by a Team
Leader. The current sub-details are. Forensic Sciences [FORSCI], Brig Control
[BRCO], Torpedo Control [TCO], Security Team [SECTM], Armory Control [ARMCO],
and Technology Developement [TECH].
The Tactical Weapons Module (TWM) is located on the "roll bar" of the ship.
It houses the Phaser Cannon and a Torpedo Launcher. The Phaser Cannon and the
TWM Torpedo launcher are mounted on an omni-directional mount. The mount can
swivel in a full 360º circle givening complete coverage by these weapons. The
(TWM) is just one of many possible "Roll Bar" modules that can be attached at
any major Starbase.
RECONN SUITE
Located on the alpha deck of the port dual secondary hull, the Reconn suite
systems are currently classified to authorized personnel only.

BACKGROUND :
THE EARLIER YEARS
Janar was born to the High Priest and Priestess Jondalar and Anara. She was
raised to one day become a ruler sitting on the Council of Theros. Her
schooling began as soon as she could walk. She was schooled in the fine arts
of diplomacy and telepathy.
Growing up she proved to be a tiny, yet agile girl. She was delicate and
beautiful; her parents treasure in a family of three large brothers. She was
named after her grandmother. Her father, not particularly caring for his
somewhat pushy and over-bearing mother-in-law, insisted her brothers call
her by their family name, Janar. Being the boys that they were, it turned
into Janny shortly thereafter. Up until the age of seven she was treated
just like any member of the family. However, she proved to be very
different from the rest.
She was able to not only read the minds of others, but influence their
thoughts as well. Anara pleaded with her husband to allow her to ask the
Council for Janny's pardon from the Theros. Jondalar, finally recognizing
that his daughter was no ordinary Betazoid, approached the Council on the
matter.
The Council of Theros agreed and the child was sent to the farthest sector of
the Alpha quadrant to the Feldonian Empire. On the planet Felpurn she was
raised by the Felpurrs. These agile creatures have quick reflexes like their
ancient Earth ancestor, the feline. They are fast, smart, and extremely
personable. They have the ability to turn and move their bodies with a
strength unknown to virtually any of the other races. All of this combined
with their magical nature was now open to little Katerina.
BEFORE STARFLEET
The Felpurrs taught her the deadly skill of the crucial kill and the wondrous
power of the mind. She has the ability to alter thoughts as well as levitate
objects, but always for the good of the cause for which she fights. She is
a very loyal creature.
After the almost-destruction of Felpurns' sister planet by the Romulans,
Captain Picard (who had answered their distress call and came to the
Felpurr's defense) impressed by her performance, encouraged her to join
Starfleet.
Another officer equally impressed, but for other reasons, befriended her
while the Enterprise was at Felpurn. Her and Picard's First Officer became
quite friendly and she even saved his life from a poisonous snake when they
were camping in the mountains together. The confrontation with the
Romulans sparked the desire for excitement and a yearning for exploration in
Katerina. No longer content to study and examine from afar, she wanted to
be right in the action, but felt a dutiful loyalty to her teachers. Her
sister creatures saw the unrest in her and approved involvement with
Starfleet Academy.
STARFLEET ACADEMY
Her zest for learning allowed her to graduate with the highest of Honors in
the top five of her class. Although she sometimes found herself out of the
good graces of the Academy officers when she used her gifts to reach for
things rather than get them herself. Because of her early cultural switch,
she found herself interested in learning about other species, planets, and
ways of life. Any free time found her gazing out at the stars wondering who
was out there. She knew that one day she would be a Science Officer on a
starship.
THE DARMOK

After graduation Katerina Janar (Ens Janar) was posted as Assistant Science

PERSONALITY PROFILE
Janar's small size is not to be underestimated. Her lightning speed, grace,
and agility will allow her to stay up there with the big boys. Her former
Sensei, LT1 Xian Trax, further trained her in the legendary art of
Ninjutsu which allows the learned to effectively hide from their opponent
while in battle. Further intense covert training w/ her Reconn partner,
Akarn, enhanced her abilities considerably.
She is very friendly and willing to accept almost anyone, providing they
have StarFleet's best interest in mind. She has an incredible sense of duty.
She is quite peaceful, but will fight for those with whom her loyalty lies.
Her amazing high intelligence and telepathetic abilities allow her to have a
strong influence on others'. She is an asset to any team for her stealth
qualities and mind control. She always gives her all and
expects anyone she works with to do the same. She is not afraid of a little
work and is always interested in finding new ways to do things.
A Betazoid at heart, she loves beautiful things--clothes, classical music,
antiques, books-- however, you can find her during her free time clad in
jeans and cowboy boots exploring Earth's rugged country like Montana or
Wyoming with Nika. Although many times she has been found in a hollow-deck
honing up her combat skills with a Klingon warrior!

Robert was born in Winterset, Ia to Jacob and Nicole Boone. He was taught at
an early age about farming and botany from his parents, His father a farmer

Robert did not wish to be a farmer, but had a mild interest in botany, but
wanted to leave Iowa to persue a career in space, particularly to enroll in
Star Fleet Academy.
He was always interested in protecting others from harm, and had the ability
to percieve danger coming with his ESP. Boone is very quite and keeps to
himself alot, he is very shy and is high
strung, often nervous around others. He is a very good officer though, and
when in the line of duty a crises arises he is calm and
collected and puts his nervousness aside. He is very suspicious of all things
and people he does not know, or trust.
His ESP and basic survival instinct signals him whatever the situation
is,when something is wrong, yet the ESP cannot tell him what the exact
problem is, just that there is a presence of danger.

The following information is general guidelines for personal conduct aboard
the USS Potemkin. The following guidelines are not necessarily reflected on
all ships in the USF. :)

G E N E R A L I N - S I M G U I D E L I N E S
The weekly sim is held Thursdays, 10:00 - 11:00pm Eastern in PR USS Potemkin.
Although the hosts will do their best to conclude the sims in a timely manner
(usually by 10:50pm so that awards and promotions may be given, and all
ship's business concluded by 11:00pm), we will run over from time to time. If
you absolutely cannot stay late, please contact the CO and XO via IM before
the sim begins.
Please try to be in the sim room about 5 minutes early, to assist us in
starting in a timely manner. You should have already read the Mission
Briefing before the sim, as some weeks are more complex than others, and the
MB will be, in general, out by Wednesday at 9pm at the very latest. [We will
do our best to have them out by Tuesday evening, so you'll have 2 days to
prepare]. If you have questions about the Briefing,
please contact us when you read it, not 2 minutes before the sim starts.

To help cut down on confusion during sims, we have a set of symbols that we
use from week to week. They are :
# - Bridge
@ - Away Teams
$ - Sickbay
% - Other vessels (ie. alien vessels, shuttles, etc)
& - Engineering
You would preface your type in the chatroom with the symbol, ie:
CptnSierra: # +ENG+ Engineering, this is the bridge, we need more power!
If you are someplace else on the ship, the use of symbols or [place locators]
(ie - [Brig]) is at your own discretion.
Please try to minimize <OOC chat>. We don't mind some commentary; it's when
whole <OOC conversations> are held in the room that we lose our patience,
because it is distracting to other simmers who are attempting to pay
attention to the sims. Mucho gracias, merci, etc. :)
Chain of Command : During the sim, the hosts really need to pay attention to
everything that's going on. If you have questions, arrive late, or need
something cleared up, please IM your DH (Department Head). If your DH can't
answer the question -- or you are the DH <g> -- then you should IM the XO.
The only person who should really be IMming the CO midsim is the XO.
Blatant plug for a cool AOL plugin: Really have a hard time keeping up during
sims? Both Janar and myself swear by PowerTools (available at keyword : BPS).
You can set different people's names to different colors; PTs also help
organize IMs into a single window; plus a lot of other nifty features
(including that IM "answering machine" I use). You can try it free for 30
days, or register it for
like $25 I think (I've had PTs so long I can't recall). The new AOL4.0
integrates some of these features, but not all.

G E N E R A L C O U R T E S Y
We are all human beings on the other side of our terminals; please treat one
another with the same courtesy and respect that you would like to receive. If
you are having a problem with another simmer, and have tried to work it out
between yourselves to no avail, then please contact your CO and XO.
If you have a problem with the CO, please contact the XO; and if you have a
problem with the XO, contact the CO. If you have a problem with somebody, and
have already tried contacting the command staff, and they were unable to help
you, then your last resort is our High Command (HC) rep, USFShodan. However
please keep in mind that contacting her is a last-means-only resource.

A T T E N D A N C E P O L I C I E S
If you know you are going to be absent, please give the time and courtesy to
contact the CO, XO and 2O before the sim, so that we may plan the sims
accordingly based on the number of people we expect to be there.
LOAs (leave of absences) are extended absences that are expected to last a
minimum of 3 consecutive weeks, and are pre-notified to the CO, XO and 2O.
After three (3) consecutive unexcused absences, you will be dropped from the
roster. It is unfair for us to continue to hold a position in the roster for
people who are not coming to the sims. If you want to leave the ship or
transfer, please take the time and courtesy to contact the CO (CptnSierra)
and XO (CdrKJanar) about doing so. NAKU names in the mailstring are annoying
to everybody.
If you want to be able to continue simming with the ship, but know that you
have an uncertain schedule, we can retain you on the mailstring as "Gamma
shift crew." You will still be expected to contribute some logs; you will
retain your rank and position but in a Gamma shift capacity. [Normal roster
is "Alpha" shift.] ie. EnsNoname, Gamma shift Asst. Medical. When you are
able to make sims, you will be assigned on duty
on an as-needed basis.

P R O M O T I O N S
The following information is from the USF Handbook, available online at
http://www.sector001.com (USFHQ). Remember that these are guidelines only,
and may be adjusted accordingly by the host staff of each particular vessel.
VII. When Will I Get Promoted?
Don't be discouraged if you are not promoted the first week. No one ever is.
The USF, just like any other organization, has a few minimum requirements you
must fulfill before you can get promoted. These include specialization in
your particular area, participating in a certain number of sims, and writing
all of your Personal and Duty logs. Below is listed the MINIMUM requirements
you must meet before you can even be considered for
promotion.
RANK REQUIREMENTS (MINIMUM GUIDELINES)
Ensign: 0 Sims (All USF members start off as Ensigns)
Lieutenant Junior Grade: 4 Sims, a Character Biography, and 4 Duty and
Personal Logs
Lieutenant: 12 Sims, 12 Duty and Personal Logs and Area Specialization
First Lieutenant: 20 Sims, 20 Duty and Personal Logs, and some Leadership
Abilities
Lt. Commander: 28 Sims, 28 Duty and Personal Logs, and Advanced Leadership
Abilities
All ranks beyond Lt. Commander are considered to be USF Staff and must be
appointed directly by the Admiral.
Keep in mind that the above are *guidelines only*. Absences, lack of writing
duty and/or personal logs, lack of sim participation, poor attitude, and
other factors can all contribute against getting a promotion. If you feel
that you have been actively participating, and are not being promoted, please
contact the CO and XO to find out what reasons there may be that you are
unaware of.

L O G S
All simmers are expected to write one duty and one personal log per sim
attended. [Stories usually count as personal logs, unless they are of a
duty-related nature]. They should be a minimum of at least 10 sentences/2
paragraphs, and must be posted to the USF Boards in order to count towards
promotions.
Because of the effort involved with writing, not to mention that something
written in a log may affect your character, as a matter of courtesy, you
should read all the duty/personal logs that people write. [Re's on the other
hand, as repeatedly discussed, are not required reading, and nobody should be
offended if their re's get ignored or deleted. <g>]
However, we are not policing who reads whose logs, so this is all the
discussion you'll get on this subject. If something is very important for
people to know, put "IMP" in the subject line of the email.

Background : This is any information necessary for the background of the
plot. Planet or other celestial bodies involved (if you don't have a name,
that's okay, it can always be made up later), etc. This is the type of

Other info : Other information that should be kept in mind about this
plotline, or how it fits into the overall Potemkin storyline. Do you want to
introduce a recurring antagonist? Does it tie into an old personal log?
Supply that type info here.
Main antagonist : Who/what is the main antagonist [person, place, item] we
are fighting against? Remember, an antagonist is not necesarily a "who," it
can also be a "what" [plague, anomoly, etc].

Rough Outline : These are the goals that should be accomplished within the
course of the sim. You can be as specific as you like. If you go with
breaking your idea down into time increments, your increments should be no
smaller than five to ten minutes. Due to the fact that the "unexpected" often
happens in sims, it's more reasonable to try to hit a few main points than
expect that a sim will go exactly as planned down to the minute. <g>
Subplot(s) : A really good plot will have enough facets that everybody will
have something to do to contribute to the overall sim. However, that's not to
say that certain sims aren't more departmental-specific than others; and that
is not necessarily bad, either. However, if you come up with a sim that is
very single-dept. orientated, it is a good idea to provide an alt/secondary
sim plot that other depts. can contribute to.
Departmental Duties : Who should be doing what? Is there a dept. that needs
to receive specific information in order for the sim to properly evolve? Add
that info here.

K'Vada is a what one would call a tall, dark man. Besides the obvious
features one expects a Klingon to have, K'Vada is constantly reminded of his
tragic past by a long, jagged scar which runs from the back of his hand to
his elbow. He is fairly lean and his Klingon features are extremely accented
on his face (e.g. bone plate on forehead w/ intersecting bones). His teeth
are unusally straight for a Klingon.

Early Life:
Up to the age of 7, K'Vada led a normal Klingon life on a colony on the
Earthward border of the Klingon Empire. He spent a great amount of time
wrestling and fighting with his cousins and two brothers, who were 21 and 35
at the time. Quickly discovering how easily he overpowered his companions,
K'Vada took up the art of the ancient Klingon weapons, mastering the
bath'lef.
The young Klingon had his fortunes reversed as he soon his colony was
attacked by Romulans. Rumors collected in an official investigation by
Starfleet read that there is a high possibility that the colony was designed
to receive and transfer tech<VIOLATION OF STARFLEET SECURITY PROCEEDURE/

Tragedy:
K'Vada's brothers, serving upon a K'Vort class battle cruiser in a mission to
eliminate Romulan outposts, were ambushed by ships using stolen Klingon
technology. With blood pulsing through his veins, the young warrior stole a
shuttlecraft and flew into Romulan territory.
Seeking out any Romulans he could get his hands on, K'Vada crashed his
cloaked ship straight into a Warbird. Beamed aboard, the boy challenged the
captain.
Defeated, a long Romulan letter was carved into the Klingon's forearm, and he
was left in the disabled ship, drifting slowly through space.
Disenhearted and disabled, he returned home to find it burning and covered
with filthy Romulans. Captured, he was sent to a prison camp in the Carraya
system, imprisoned for 2 years. A hate for Romulans was slowly built up,
along with the ablity to control his temper well... for a Klingon.

Training:
Rescued by the USS Enterprise, K'Vada decided to take up residence on Earth.
Living in Japan, he developed skills in martial arts including Tae Kwon Doe,
Judo, and Karate, studying under the great martial arts master Yoshitomo. It
was difficult for him, as a Klingon, to fully grasp the "inner peace"
concept. Under his master, he also learned the art of meditation, which
calmed his short fuse. Not entirely, of course, as he has been involved with
several incidents in which he has lost this control.
At age 13, K'Vada applied for Starfleet academy. He was not accepted until
age 15. There he studied modern weaponry, hand-to-hand combat, tatical
shuttle combat, psychology, and military history. He graduated with honors,
with the exception of a demerit for an incident involving a Ferengi and the
purchase of a dagger.

Assignments:
K'Vada's first assignment was aboard the USS Darmok, which, for a great
timespan, held a campaign in the Gamma Quadrant. K'Vada served with the
Darmok in the Security Department for over 9 months, first under now retired
Fleet Captain Tnagra and then under the current captain of the Darmok,
Captain Ahrele Johannson. The USS Darmok now serves extensively in the Beta
Quadrant.
After an incident concerning an interrogation of an Orion Syndicate member,
K'Vada no longer felt capable as one of the ship's security officers. He
took a position on the USS Potemkin-B, where he served alongside some of his
former Darmok crewmates such as Fst.Lt. Amber Trent, and Commander Sierra
Rhydarr, and under Captain Alexander "Putty" O'Brien.
After the destruction of the Potemkin-B, K'Vada was assigned with most of the
crew to the Potemkin-C, an Akira class vessel.

Personal Information:
A certain thoughtfulness preceeds any action that K'Vada makes, making him
less impulsive than most of his race. This does not say much, however, as
Klingons can be most unpredictable at times. The only predictable reaction
of K'Vada is that towards Romulans. However, this trait seems to be
changing.
Modern technology is a difficult concept for him to grasp. On the Klingon
colony, the lifestyle was very basic, consisting of farming and ancient-type
weapons manufacturing. Because of this, he is only adequete in phaser
fire-fights and preffers to use hand-to-hand combat in his holodeck training.
Fst. Lt. K'Vada, despite all his training, feels insecure at times about his
decisions. He experiences many human emotions at times, such as pity. His
Personal Logs seem to be very in-depth for a Klingon. This is, perhaps, an
effect of his life on Earth. Yet, in the heat of battle, K'Vada will switch
into a state of uncaringness, living only to fight.
It was somewhat of a shock to himself when K'Vada fell in love with a Rihan
woman, Ltjg. Lanel, due to the fact that he had sworn to destroy the Romulan
empire.
He became equally heart-broken when Lanel left the ship suddenly... K'Vada,
unaware of what had happened, was suddenly alone. Very alone.

FAMILY HISTORY
Bjorn's father was actually a desendant of a member of an ancient Earth
music group called ABBA. The music ability has flowed through the
generations. Bjorn is a great musician playing the tuba, eletric guitar, as
well as singing. On stardate 9202.13 He recieved the destinction of being the
youngest condiuctor chosen to lead the Betazoid Philharmonic. His mother is a
Betazoid diplomat. His family traveled alot and has always felt at home
onboard
starships. Bjorn is an only child, and as such has always been somewhat of a
loner. Princess is his baby puppy who goes everywhere he goes. She is a very
finicky eater.

is an only child and is the first of her family to be joined. This has given
her an added responsibility to live up to her parents expectations. She is

Katherine Celin, female, artist who lived on the Teneran ice cliffs, located
in the coldest reaches of the southern hemisphere. She was noted for her
paintings of the spectacular two hundred foot high ice cliffs that shimmerd
with color just before dawn. She was never married, but was rumored to have
been romantically involved with the fabled guardian of the cliffs.

Tarias Celin, a sullen serious male Trill that worked in the Trill Embassy
based on Earth in San Francisco. He was married to a Human/Terran, Cynthia
Ghirardelli, who traced her lineage back to Domingo Ghirardelli, the famed
maker of premium chocolate in San Francisco. They were divorced after
several brutal battles over the chocolate heiress' obssesion with Truffles.

Lara Celin, female, was stationed at the Trill Federation Embassy and was a
mediator between Trill and all visiting governments. She excelled in public

married and died in a hoverskiing accident on the purple waters of the beach
resort, The Selipsis, on the Trill homeworld

Although part Vulcan and born on Vulcan, Ellax does not exhibit any of the
expected physiology of Vulcans except for a slight pointing of the ears and a
somewhat quicker intellect. He does seem to be somewhat empathic but it is
not under his control. Although he strives for logic, he argues, "It is
illogical to deny the existence of emotion. Logic serves, but emotion
enhances."

PERSONAL HISTORY
Ellax Tegar grew up in the shadow of an older boy named Ben Sisko, and it
was Cmdr. Benjamin Sisko that eventually persuaded him to apply to Starfleet
Academy. Although the intervening years and different personal tastes have
dulled their friendship to the point of mere acquaintance and old memories,
Ellax drops by Sisko's father's restaurant in New Orleans whenever he gets
the chance. And he eagerly supports Jake Sisko's
writing and corresponds with the younger man on occasion.
PRE-ACADEMY EDUCATION
All through his schooling, it was recognized that Ellax had an exceptional
intellect (when compared to Humans). Although on Vulcan he could barely keep
up with the full-blooded Vulcans as they advanced in their studies, partly
due to the fact that he was distracted by emotions that his Vulcan peers were
learning to disregard. But when placed among Humans on Earth, he far
surpassed his age group, and quickly earned the respect of
his teachers and elders. Soon he was earning honors and commendations.
Eventually he attended the Universite du Sudoestern Louisiane (USL) in the
heart of Louisiana's ancient Acadian district as an Engineering major.

PERSONAL HISTORY
Born on earth to John and Janet Junior; grew up in the United States in the
former state of Wyoming. Served abord the private freighter Midnight since
earth age of 12, and then went on to Starfleet Acadamey.During which time he
met and married his now Ex-wife Melisa and had his daughter now 5 years old
Anna.After graduating starfleet acadamey on star date 9001.14 He was
involved in some project's within starfleet until he receive
his first official post aboard the USS Potemkin where he currently serve's as
ACSCI which was a shock to most of his family as he had double majored in
science and in engineering,and they thought he would end up becoming an
engineer,because of his experiences onboard the freighter Midnight. He
however is thrilled to be where he is,and hopes to continue onward until
possibly one day having a command of his own.
