LtCdrTamara Duty log, continued...
As Captain Klindt brought his phaser to bear and interrogated the
Klingon, I informed Damara, explainig the situation and requested she scan
the rocks in the vicinity to see if she detected any minerals which might be
confusing the scans. In the meantime, the Captain had learned from this
captured Klingon that there were Bajoran prisoners in one of the nearby cliff
caverns. We carefuly climbed to the opening of the cavern and spotted 15
Bajoran children and 10 adults. As the Captain was closest, I
threw him the extra comm badges I had brought along and motioned for him to
distribute them surreptiously to the Bajorans. Captain Klindt caught the
attention of a Bajoran girl and talked her into handing them out. Just as she
had distributed all but one of the badges, one of the Klingon guards noticed
her and asked what she was doing. At that point, the Captain had no choice
but to stun the guard and order an emergency beamout.

Lieutenant Commander Tamara's Duty Log, continued....
We arrived safely back onto the ship. The children are being given
complete physicals by Docter Kate. After they are in good physical shape, I
will need to begin the complete psychological evaluations. As far as we've
been able to determine on short notice, the majority of the children are
orphans. One in particular, a young boy, seems extremely attached to
Commander Mason. Some of the crew have already evinced interest in adopting.
The Doctor and I have arranged quarters for the children near
sickbay and several crewmembers are becoming regular visitors to the newly
adapted Children's Ward.

Tamara checked her chronometer just as Commander Mason stepped into
her office. She smiled warmly at Peri. "Right on time, as usual I see." Peri
smiled back at Tamara and took a seat. "Ready when you are, Counselor."
Tamara: "How old were you when you decided to join Starfleet?"
Peri: "I don't remember ever thinking about *not* joining StarFleet....I
come from a Starfleet family..."
Tamara: "Tell me about the first ship you were on...."
Peri: "The USS Hecate NCC-1842...I was assigned to engineering..."
::smiles as she remembers:: "I loved that ship...What
do you want to know about it?::eyes twinkle::The specs?"
Tamara: :::grins back at Peri::Hecate, Earth mother..a bit ironic,eh?"
Peri: ::looks questioningly at the counselor:: "Ironic? How so?
Tamara: "Well, a star ship named after a goddess who was tied to Earth...
I like it. If you could be assigned to any department on the ship,
which
would it be? Engineering?"
Peri: ::thinks for a moment:: "Well, I do *love* working in
Engineering...I suppose I get that from my grandfather...but
I don't think I'd trade my current post to work in any
department..."
Tamara: "What is your favorite holodeck theme, Peri?"
Peri: "Hmmm...well, I suppose it depends on my mood. I have a
great rock climbing program set on one of the moons of
Krodor..."
Tamara: "Rock climbing, I've always meant to try that..."
Peri: You're more than welcome to join me sometime, Tam! I'd
love to have a climbing partner!"
Tamara: "Sounds great, Peri. Ok, what sort of activities, besides rock
climbing, do you enjoy in your spare time?"
Peri: "Aside from rock climbing, I love to hike, I cook, read, sing,
do needlework, meditate...oh, lots of things..."
Tamara: "It's traditional to have a feast before you are assigned to
a new post. What did you have before you took your post on
the Odyssey?"
Peri: ::looks surprised:: It is? ::chuckles:: I never did that! Looks
like I have some serious feasting to do......to catch up!"
Tamara: ::grins wickedly:: "Yes, Peri. thats the best part of changing
posts...I do it when I change ranks too! Ok, what's your
preferred planet for shore leave, and why?"
Peri: ::looks wistful, says softly:: "Earth... What family I have is
there."
Tamara: "Where is that, Peri? I mean, which continent?"
::gives Peri an understanding look...home does that for her too::
Peri: "They're in San Fran..."::voice trails off::
Tamara: "I've been to California, it's truly beautiful, Peri...How long
since you've seen your family?"
Peri: "Too long..::sighs:: I haven't seen any of them in a year and
three months."
Tamara: "Oh, that is a very long time. I know where you're going on your
next shoreleave!::grins to perk Peri up:::
Peri: "I hope so! Pops isn't as young as he used to be. I'd like to spend
more time with him."
Tamara: "I'm sure he's very proud of you. What sort of music do you
enjoy on your off duty? You mentioned singing..."
Peri: "I have very eclectic tastes...I love almost every kind of
music I've been exposed to...but I admit to being especially
fond of Turlough O'Carolan..."
Tamara: "Do you speak any language besides English, Peri?"
Peri: "I speak a few languages, among them: Klingon, Vulcan and
Andorian..."
Tamara: "That must come in handy...Know any Betazed?"
Peri: ::grins lopsidedly::"...a smattering of Betazed, yes..."

The Odyssey left Deep Space 9 to go to a klingon prison to rescue some
bajorans ( who had been captured by the klingons) from the prison. Things
went pretty much as planned. The prison was on a small planetoid, so an away
team beamed in, and was discovered by a klingon, who after a little
threatening by Captain Klindt, told the AT which way the Bajorans were. They
went there and cautiously passed some com badges out to the bajorans, and
they were rescued. While on the Odyssey, Lt Steph and I figured out
a way to detect cloaked ships, by using a time space scan, it is possible to
detect cloaked ships, since large objects (such as vessels) make a small
groove in the space time contiuum (or something like that, So sue me I
minored in temporal mechanics!). Anyways we detected, using those scans,
about 4 klingons ships, 2 decloaked, we hailed them but they never responded,
and also 3 on the way! But the AT beamed back in time, and we got the heck
outta there! But the only thing that puzzles me is why didn't
the klingons fire? Klingons prefer a straight fight to using cloak, and they
would have fired? Perhaps they didn't fire because that would most likely be
considered by the federation an act of war? Or maybe it wasn't klingons who
took the bajorans, maybe it was something else, something more powerful,
testing us? Seeing if we can negotiate, or prepare for battle. Whatever it
is, Klingons don't act like that. But it may be something that's not klingon,
or romulan, or anything like that. Maybe it's
testing us, preparing us for war..............

LT. Steph's Duty Log
Cheif of Tactical
SD 1196.19
Our mission had an easy enough objective: rescue some prisoners. It
seems that some Klingons had raided a Bajoran base. The Bajorans that
survived were taken prisoner and shipped to an asteriod prison camp
somewhere. We went in search of the asteriod and found it shortly. Strange
enough, we saw no Klingon vessels and no planetary shield. Also, there
weren't any life signs detected on the asteroid. Our away team beamed down
and started a search. Meanwhile, Ensigns GDT and TomTrek and I started
to think about the problem which arises when one tries to detect cloaked
vessels. Then I got an Idea: look for small "dips" in space-time which are
created by massive objects. We started the modifications and scanned the
surrounding area. We detected nine cloaked vessels! Soon after, about three
decloaked and raised shields, locked weapons. I did the same and I waited.
Strangely enough, the Klingons did not fire upon us! MEanwhile down below,
the away team blasted afew klingons and found the Bajorans.
They beamed up to the Odyssey and we sped away without a single shot between
the ships being fired. Strange...

Duty Log
This was my first mission aboard the Odyssey, also my first assignment.
We were directed to rescue some Bajorans, recently Klingon prisoners, from an
asteroid in the Badlands where they were being held. I was a member of the
away team which beamed down to rescue them. Our scanners were not
functioning properly due to dilithium content in the rocks, so we were
surprised by a Klingon. (Whom the Captain had no trouble interrogating as to
the whereabouts of the prisoners.) We found the prisoners and
LtCdr Damara recalibrated the sensors. The two of us stood guard at the
passageway while the Captain the LtCdr Tamara placed com badges on the
Bajorans, who were promptly beamed aboard. We beamed out just before the
rest of the Klingon guards arrived in the chamber, and before the cloaked
Klingon vessels which had been tailing the Odyssey attacked.
Personal Log
It took me a few hours to realize just how strange this first mission of
mine was.
I think the rest of the crew is in agreement that the Klingons did not behave
normally at all. Not only was the behavior of the ships unsual, it was odd
that the Klingons would leave the prisoners completely unattended.
An interesting development occured aboard the ship during the mission ---
Ensign Trek and Lt Steph proved an old theory of my last host that under the
right conditions, cloaked ships could be detected due to temporal anomalies.
Speaking of anomalies, just after I beamed back to the ship, I had a
strange sensation of some watching presence, as well as some sensory
misfunction similar to that which I experienced while in my fourth host. I
reported it to Dr. Kate, and I suppose I should speak to Lt Cdr Tamara about
some strange dreams I've been having.
It's rather excting having so many Bajorans aboard ship. I've been
thinking of asking them to organize a religious service aboard ship before
they leave, or at least asking them to share some of their ideas with us.
There is not a more faithful race in this quadrant, and my recent experiences
are bringing back memories of my little jaunt through the wormhole...

Lieutenant Commander Sarvok Cha'Tavek
Strategic Operations Officer
USS Odyssey
On this mission, the Odyssey was sent to rescue all Bajoran prisoners
from the Klingon penal colony at coordinates 775.837. It was supposed to be
a simple rescue mission, but then again, is it ever? We made our way to the
coordinates without trouble. The Captain then assembled an away team, which
he commanded. I strongly objected to him leaving the ship, since a Captain's
place is on the bridge. And since he was taking Commander Mason and
Lieutenant Commander Tamara with him on the away team, I
was going to be left in charge. Despite my strong objections, he did not
listen and beamed to the surface with the away team. Almost as suddenly as
he beamed to the surface, we picked up four cloaked Klingon warships. The
Klingon ships surrounded us. Two of the Klingon ships decloaked, but did not
open fire. We then detected three more Klingon ships approaching. We hailed
the Klingon vessals, but they did not respond. This is very strange behavior
for Klingons. The lead Lieutenant (Junior Grade)
K'Nuchi to believe these were not Klingons. I also agreed with this. It
was very strange.
While on the surface, the Captain's away team came across the kidnapped
Bajorians and proceeded to evacuate them off the surface. We got all members
of the away team and all the Bajoran prisoners off the surface without
difficulty. The Klingon ships again did nothing. Accoarding to the Captain
and others on the away team, there were a few Klingons around the area and
did not resemble a prision camp of any sort. This is all too strange.
Something is definitely wrong here. We then broke orbit
and entered warp. The Klingon ships did not pursue.
This entire mission did not make any sense. It all went too easily. I
expected some resistance. I will look over the sensor readings from this
mission so I can hopefully get more information.

::Algar sits in quarter rubbing his chin thoughtfully:: Computer start Duty

-Log opened-
It was a most unusual mission we have done. I know that's not the
first time I have stated this but this one beats them all. It was a simple
resuce mission into Klingon territory in the disputed Cardassian, Bajorian
area near DS9. We enter the system with trouble and the Captain assembled an
away team which I noticed the Captain was commanding. This isn't so unusual
but he also decided to take Commander Mason with him. I know starfleet
frowns on Captains leading away teams but most of the
time the XO goes and the Captain stays or vice versa, but in this instance
they both went. I wasn't going to openly quesetion the Captain's orders but
it did strike me a bit odd. I was biting my tongue when they beamed down to
the surface. Just then the Red Alert sounded and the Odyessy was flanked by
decloaking Klingon warbirds. I rushed to the bridge in order to offer my
help but the remaining crew was already ontop of the crisis. What struck us
odd was that their was no attempt of commuication or
any overt act of battle. Strange behavior for Klingons::Mumbles Algar:: I
suggested by altering their scans by projecting Holograms of other ships or
by somehow activating their claoking devices shutting down shields. But no
action was taken. By either side. Where they baiting us? On the surface
the Captain's away team found the kidnapped Bajorians and proceed to evacute
them off the surface. We managed to beam them off with no problems. Again
the "Klingons" did nothing. According to Klindt and
others on the away team their was a few Klingons around and the area did not
resemble a prison camp of any sort. Something wasn't right about this. We
left orbit and entered warp, once more the "Klingons" did not pursue.
Nothing seems to make sense any more. Ever since we were marooned and the
ship taken, nothing has made any sense to me. Maybe I'm paranoid. But I'm
willing to bet that something's "Rotten In Denmark." ::Algar reads his log

Our mission was to investigate rumors of a klingon penal colony on an
M-class asteroid in the Badlands. If the rumors proved true and such a colony
did exist, our goal was to rescue Bajoran and any other Federation prisoners.
After scanning several likely prospects, we discovered the one on which the
penal colony was located. The rumor appeared to be fact. An away team
consisting of Captain Klindt, myself, Lieutenant Commander Tamara, Lieutenant
Gill, Ensign Fetterman, Lieutenant (jg) Kitkara,
Lieutenant McKenzie, Ensign Torres and EnsTorzel, beamed down to the
asteroid's surface and began our search for the prisoners.
The prisoners, what few there were of them, were easy to locate...almost
*too* easy...and they were surprisingly poorly guarded. To my experience,
Klingons are more efficient than that. We encountered little resistance and
soon found ourselves on a ledge overlooking the prisoners' communal holding
area inside a large, natural cavern. The Captain slipped down unobtrusively
and beckoned to a young bajoran girl. He quickly convinced her to assist him
by handing out the extra comm badges we had brought.
She was able to pass them out to all of the prisoners except for one very
small boy who was playing alone on the far side of the cavern. Before she
could reach him, a party of klingon guards was spotted approaching by the
lookout we had placed at the entrance. The Captain was forced to decide to
beam back to the ship without the boy; the needs of the many outweighing the
needs of the one.
Somehow, I'm still not quite sure how, I found myself speeding along the
rim of the ledge and then clambering down to the boy. The Captain had spotted
me and delayed the beam out order as long as he could. I reached the little
boy, grabbed him up and held him close with only enough time to advise the
transporter room to remodulate to beam up two on my comm signal. Moments
later I rematerialized in the transporter room with the rest of the away team
and the last group of the now freed prisoners.
Strangely, when I lowered the little boy to the ground and tried to send
him off with the rest of his former playmates to Sick Bay for evaluation, he
refused to go. He grasped ahold of my leg and wouldn't let go. He's a
stubborn little thing and seems to have adopted me...

We are on a mission to Risa. As part of Alpha team it will be my duty to
do whatever my team leader, LCdrSarvok deems necessary for success of the
mission. We have beamed down to the planet, recovered information for the
mission from the Risian computers. During this time, we had to down a few
guards. Despite my loathing for weapons, I had to shoot a guard in order to
keep the team leader safe. So far the mission is going as desired. One
injury to our team, a slight burn to Algars wing! It is
good to have the shapeshifter on our team. Before we got here though, we
had to fly on the freighter. I must say I enjoyed that immensely. I do love
older vessels. We will be going into phase two soon. This may turn out to
be the most interesting part of the mission.

The Odyssey was ordered to Risa, but for anything BUT shore leave. One of
Risa's moon, Alao, had been captured by rebels, possibly controlled by the
Essentialists. They had taken everyone, government, tourists, everyone,
hostage. The Odyssey was loaded with a freighter. We went into civilian
clothes and we all went on the freighter. Team Alpha was beamed down near the
main complex, which the rebels had captured. While the team I was on, team
beta, was beamed down and we were captured, as planned. When we
got in Capt Klindt helped free the hostages by accessing some power panel
(don't ask me how, I got lost after a while). But we weren't out yet. We
began to climb through some version of jefferies tubes I believe. We haven't
got out yet, and I hope team beta is able to help get us out from this thing.
I don't much like tubes.

Lieutenant Commander Tamara Zekad-Silona
Second Officer/Counselor
USS Odyssey
Tamara sat in a corner of the tunnel. She was becoming a bit bored with
watching the crewmembers attempting to access the computer terminal. She
fished out a pad of paper and a pen and decided to write a log.
A rebel political group, based on a moon of Risa, had seized the
government building in Risa's capital. Over two thousand people in that
building and several nearby buildings had been taken hostage. The Federation
had not yet established relations with the new faction, so the Odyssey was
sent to free the hostages, and attempt overthrow the rebels at any cost.
We were to do this in two teams. The first team, headed by Lieutenant
Commander Sarvok and Lieutenant Commander Damara, were ordered to infiltrate
the rebel base on Risa's moon, Aloa. They were then to tap into their
computer systems and access informmation on anything relative to an attempted
overthrow of the rebel government. After all the data is transferred to the
supply ship, they were to establish a base camp in the dense jungles of Alao.
The second team, headed by Captain Klindt and Commander Mason, was
ordered to beam down to Risa in civilian clothes, attempt to be taken hostage
and then investigate the situation. I was assigned to this team. We needed to
find out the rebel's plans and talk to the hostages, as they had a first-hand
view of the situation.
We were also to gain access to the underground tunnel network and set up a
base camp within.
Phase 1 went well for the Beta team. We were able to gain access to the
tunnels in a relatively short period of time. Commander Mason did an
excellent acting job while distracting a guard from Captain Klindt's efforts
at the access panel to the tunnels. Ensign Herr was hurt in the struggle, I
am still not sure how bad his wound is. I was able to glean some firsthand
information from the hostages. Most of it telepathically, however. Verbal
contact was frowned upon by the guards. I disliked intruding
on the hostages thoughts in this way, but I had no choice. There was an
underground movement among the hostages. However, they had only made a few
plans, as of yet. And the lack of weapons was a great handicap. We were
unable to bring weapons with us as the guards would surely have discovered
them. By the end of today, we had gained access to the tunnels. At this
point, we are attempting to access the terminal annex.
Tamara put the paper and pen back in her pocket and resumed watching the
tunnels.

Tamara entered the fighter bay, padd in hand. She
glanced around at the fighters, looking underneath for
Sarvok's feet. She finally spotted his boots near the
fighter at the far end of the bay.
"Sarvok! It's Tamara. Are you ready for your interview?", she called
across the bay.
The boots started moving toward her. She finally spotted
him as he rounded the nose of the fighter. He ruffled his hair
and hurried to join her.
"Sorry, Tam. I forgot all about this thing. It's time I took a break,
anyway." He led her to the far end of the bay where a couple of
cartons were stacked. He brushed one off with his hand and motioned
for the counselor to have a seat.
"Thanks, Commander. Let's begin. When did you first decide you wanted
a career in Starfleet?
Sarvok took a seat next to her and rubbed his chin a moment.
"Well...I would have to say the moment I found out my mother
was a Starfleet officer. When she told me, I just decided to
follow in her footsteps."
Tamara looked a bit surprised. "Oh, your mother was in Starfleet?
What did she do?"
"She was the Chief Tactical officer aboard the USS Lexington."
"Sarvok, what is your favorite holodeck simulation?"
Sarvok leaned back in the chair, enjoying the chat. "I would have to
say my Fighter simulation."
The counselor leaned forward and grinned, changing the subject.
"I understand you and Damara are now an item. How did you two get together?"
Sarvok noticed Tam's interest and grinned. "This had better not be
in your gossip column. Well....we first met on the Lothlorien. But,
I was only there for a short time. When she came to visit the Odyssey,
something just clicked."
::leaning back in her chair::"Tell me about the first ship you were on,
Commander."
"Hmm, the USS Castle? Well....not much to talk about there. We were
just a small vessel patrolling the border of the Neutral Zone. We never
really got involved in many fights, which was good. Basically uneventful
stuff, but it gave me a lot of experience in ship's systems."
Tamara made some notes on her padd. "What do you enjoy doing when
you're off duty, Sarvok?"
Sarvok thought for a moment. "Hmmm....well, spending it with Damara,
if she is not busy. Of course, she usually always is. It's difficult to
coordinate schedules on a starship. So, I just go to Club 6 and have a
few drinks and talk with friends."
Tamara smiled wryly. "Try coordinating time when your loved one is
the Captain of his own ship. I know what you mean. So, do you have
any hobbies?
Sarvok ran his hand through his hair. "Uhh...well, I collect weapons,
which you probably already know."
Tamara grinned. "Yes, I think the entire crew is aware of your private
arsenal. By the way, how did you get Captain Klindt to give you a fighter
of your own?
Sarvok looked up in amazement. "Klindt....give me a fighter? He never
gave me one. I got this one from the Captain of the Klingon vessel
I served aboard during the Federation exchange program. Captain Klindt
allows me keep it on the Odyssey."
Tamara looked at Sarvok and raised her eyebrows. "Wow..he gave you a
fighter? You must have made a great impression! All I ever got was a
handful of "gah" when I participated."
Sarvok looks down modestly. "Well....I did save his ship and crew."
Tamara leaned forward. "Oh? I didn't know that. Tell me about it."
He shook his head slowly. "I would rather not talk about it. Bad memories."
Tamara put her hand on Sarvok's for a moment. "Ok. I noticed that you
have a lot of medals in your room. Which one means the most to you?
And why?"
Sarvok thought for a moment, picturing his medals. "Hmmm....that would
have to be the Bronze Star I received while on the USS Castle. It means
the most to me because I think that was the one I deserved the most out
of all of them."
"Oh? What did you do, Commander?"
Sarvok looked at Tamara and smiled slowly. "Well...I rescued a group of
prisoners from a Rihannsu prison camp."
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
"That sounds pretty dangerous, Sarvok. But then, you're a dangerous guy!"
Sarvok grinned. "That I am."
"Do any of your weapons have sentimental value?"
"Yes. My silver kaleh. It was given to me by my father before I
left for Starfleet Academy. It is the only thing I have left of him."
Tamara got to her favorite question. "It's traditional to have a feast
when you transfer to a new post or rank. Did you do that?"
Sarvok raised his eyebrows and smiled. "Really? It is? I did not know
that. I guess I have some feasts to catch up on now, don't I?"
Tamara shakes her head that no one is aware of her favorite tradition
in Starfleet. She plans her feasts in advance.
"Ok, Commander. If you had a romantic evening with Damara planned,
what would you do? Basically, describe the date..."
"Well", he pauses and thinks for a moment. "I would probably start out
with a walk in the Arboretum, since she seems to like that place."
Tamara listened with interest. "Mmmm...sounds nice. Then what, Sarvok?"
"Then I would probably take her to the holodeck and use the new program
I made for her. She has not even seen it yet."
Tamara, seeing a scoops said,"Oh? What's it like?"
Sarvok smiled at Tamara, seeing the glint in her eye. "In my opinion,
it is very romantic. But, I will not tell you about it, as she will
probably read this interview."
Tamara nodded and grinned wryly."Well, you have a point there.
Thank you very much, Commander, for allowing me this interview."
Sarvok nodded and stood up. "Anytime Tamara."
Sarvok walked back over to his fighter plane while Tamara made her way
back to the fighter bay doors. She turned back to catch a glimpse of
her long-time friend rounding the nose of his fighter. She smiled softly
and exited the bay.

Chief Engineer- USS Odyssey
A trip to Risa...I never thought that I would see the day when I would dread
that! Well not actually Risa, but the Risan moon Alao. Commander Sarvok
leaded the Alpha team which I was a member of. Our mission was to infiltrate
a rebel base on Alao that had assumed control of the Risan government. I
modified by Advanced Technical Analysis Tricorder to emit an ionic pulse to
disrupt the primative fusion generators they were using. While the power was
down, the rest of the team entered the complex to
access the computers and find out the rebel's plans. I waited a long time
until Sarvok contacted me again and told me to keep the power down for just a
little longer. That was the last I heard from him. I have tried to contact
them again, but there has been no response. I am beginning to worry that the
team may have been captured. I have set up camp and will wait a little
longer for their return.

What follows is what happened to LCdrSarvok, FsLtKXyl, and EnsTorres (the
part of Alpha team that entered the rebel compound) while they were
downloading the information from the main computer core at the rebel base on
Alao.
Sarvok looks over at Kate, who is still downloading the information from
the main computer core. "Come on Kate! We got about five more minutes till
they get the power back on in this place, and then we will be trapped!"
Her fingers are flying over the consul in front of her. "I'm trying my
best, sir. There is just so much info to download. Give me three more
minutes."
Sarvok looks over at Torres, who is standing guard at the door. "How
much longer till those guards burn through that door?"
"I would have to say about two more minutes, sir."
"T'lr M'th," Sarvok mutters a curse under his breath. He look over at
Kate quickly. "You've got two minutes! Take as much info as you can, and
then we are out of here."
"Aye sir," she responds.
Sarvok taps his combadge, "Sarvok to Gill. How much longer can you keep
that power grid down?"
"About four more minutes, sir," Gill replies. "It is getting harder and
harder to keep it down. I will keep it down as long as possible, sir."
"Understood Gill. Sarvok out." Sarvok turns to look at the door and
sees that the guards have almost cut halfway through it. He then pulls out
his SIC tactical tricorder and scans the area around him. He smiles as his
tricorder now has a map of the entire compound. "This could come in very
handy for later," he thinks. "I will send it to Gill's tricorder, just in
case." He types in a few commands and the map is sent to Gill's tricorder.
Kate looks up from what she is doing. "I'm done sir. Information has
been uploaded to the freighter."
"Excellent! Now...both of you, into the ventilation system!" They both
comply and enter the vents. Sarvok turns back to the consul at the computer
core. He enters in a large amount of encryption codes into the computer.
The computer then beeps a few times, and chirps out, "Internal sensor
system has been disabled. Disabling internal cameras. Disabling all
internal forcefields. All internal security systems have been disabled. All
records of security breech have been deleted."
Sarvok grins as he hears all of this. Then he mutters to himself, "This
was almost too easy. Almost as if they expected us to infiltrate their
base......" The thought then dawns upon him. He looks over at Kate and
Torres. "Now! We have to get out of here!"
He goes into the ventilation system after them. Sarvok taps his
combadge. "Sarvok to Gill. Lieutenant, pull back into the jungle. This was
a trap. Await furt........"
The communication is suddenly cut. Gill taps his combadge. "Gill to
Sarvok, come in sir." He waits for a few seconds, then taps it again, "Gill
to Sarvok, are you there commander?" All of a sudden, four guards appear on
top of the outer wall of the compound. They start to fire at Gill, but he
escapes into the jungle.
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
Back inside the compound, the lights go off then back on as they switch
from auxiliary power to main power. The computer's voice is then heard
again, "Main power has been restored. External security systems have been
brought back online. Internal security systems and internal sensors are
still disabled."
The small team of Sarvok, Kate, and Torres crawl along inside the
ventilation system till they reach a room that appears to have been
abandoned. Kate takes the vent cover off the wall, and the team crawls out.
Kate walks over to one of the chairs in the room and sits down. Torres
follows her and sits down next to her. Sarvok leans up against the wall to
face them. He looks down, shaking his head in disbelief. "I knew this was
too easy! I should have seen that it was a trap! Something must be
wrong with me. Usually I can smell out traps easily."
Kate looks up at him. "You can't always know when something is a trap.
None of us are perfect."
Torres nods. "She is right, sir. You couldn't have known this was a
trap. None of us did."
Sarvok looks up at them, and smiles slightly. He then pulls the SIC
tactical tricorder from his side and opens it. He brings up the map of the
compound that he got. He walks over to the other two, and shows it to them.
They then start to plan a way of escaping.

Tamara entered sickbay and glanced around for the Doctor. Then she spotted
her in her office. She made her way to the door and grinned. "Hello Kate,
still have time for the interview?"
Kate looked up, her eyes a bit unfocused as she adjusted from her deep
concentration. "What? Oh! Yes. Sorry, Tamara, I forgot about it completely."
Kate gave a last longing look at her console and sighed, leaning back in her
chair. "Ok, Commander, shoot."
Tamara took out her padd and began the interview:
" I understand you are the daughter of a Vulcan princess. What led you to
leave Vulcan and join Starfleet?"
"Well, Tam, my father was human, a pilot. He gave me a great love of the
stars and StarFleet."
"Tell me about the first ship you served on. What was the name of the ship?
What was your position?
Kate smiled fondly to herself. "It was the USS Sarek, now decommissioned. I
started out as an Lieutenant, but when the captain disappeared, I was
promoted to temporary Captain, flew her on her last mission."
"What drew you to practice medicine?"
"I have a great desire to help people, and a special aptitude for caring for
the sick. I can't recall ever wanting to do anything else."
Tamara smiled at Kate. "I must admit, you are the finest doctor I've ever
worked with. I understand you have a pet, a canine. Tell me about him."
Kate looked down and smiled. "Cameron is a year old Golden Retriever, fixed
male. I I found him, as a pup, badly treated just outside of John Hopkins
Hospital. Took him home, and well, we get along great together. Love at
first sight I guess."
Tamara looked down at her questions. "What recreational activities to you
engage in in your spare time?"
"Well, Cam and I go on long walks. I love horseback riding, and my books and
music, of course. Then there is always cooking."
Tamara grinned. "Ah, yes. During one of our missions, when we were stranded,
you made some excellent stews from native animals and plants. When did you
learn to cook? And why? It is a fascinating skill in these days of
replicators."
The doctor looked at Tamara seriously. "Well, Tam, while Vulcan males go out
alone into the desert to prove their manhood, the women got out with their
teachers to learn domestic skills. I took to cooking, which my mother hated.
Father loved exotic meals and fresh game alike. I loved to cook for him."
" What is your favorite holodeck simulation?"
"Believe it or not I have an Earth, Wild West program, I can play Indian or
be a bad guy or...lots of possibilities there!", Kate said with a gleam in
her eye.
Tamara leaned back in her chair. "Tell me about some of the most interesting
cases you've come across as a doctor."
Kate thought for a moment. "I've had a lot of 'interesting' cases. However, I
believe the most interesting from a personal standpoint were the Rigilian
orphans. They were so sick and in such bad shape. Saved all but one."
Tamara leaned forward. "Yes, I understand you received the Rigilian Medal of
Honor for Bravery. Tell me about that."
Kate looked into space for a moment. "I saved an orphanage full of children
during a firestorm there, then nursed them back to health."
Tamara noticed the doctor had gotten very quiet and realized she would
probably not wish to discuss that incident further.
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
"If you hadn't joined Starfleet, where do you think you would be now?"
Kate smiled. "Ah, flying somewhere among the stars."
Tamara grinned back. "Yes, me too, Kate, anyway I could. If you could be
placed in any post on the Odyssey, with the exception of Medical, where would
you like to be? And why?"
"Hmm. Medical is always my first great love. However, being a Science officer
is a close second. Although a taste of command is heady stuff too."
Tamara stood up and closed her padd.
"Thanks, Kate, for giving me the time for this interview. I really appreciate
it."
Kate stood up also and walked the counselor to the door. "Happy to help out
Tam."
As the counselor left sickbay, the Doctor hurried back to her desk and was
soon lost in her work once more. Tamara hurried down the corridor to meet
Lieutenant Commander Sarvok for her next interview.

IT had just been a few days after I heard our mission breifing. A
group of readicals had taken control of Risa and had taken hostages. I was a
little worried... had a relative who lived on Risa. Our group was to
infiltrate the government by being taken hostage. I prepared for our mission
by taking a Swiss Army Knife- complete with laser cutter. We came in an old
freighter and landed in a spaceport. Soon after, our group split and we went
our seperate ways. I went to the door of the building
and rung the bell. Sure enough, we were grabbed and taken hostages. We did a
pretty good job of acting like scared tourists. After whimpwering and such,
for a while, we ended up in a room with other hostages and a few guards. No
problem there, after all, they only carried a couple phaser rifles! Our
attack was kind of... spontaneous. We
surprised the guards and hit them with all we had! A few of us accessed
thecomputers, and I with the help of some fellow crew members carried an
fellow injured mate. We soon heard alarms and ranoutside, escaping to a pipe.
That's where I am now!

Damara relaxed in her shuttle as she piloted it toward the Odyssey's last
known location.
"That's odd," she thought to herself, "I wonder why they're at Risa? Of
course, it's just my luck that I'm attending a science conference while the
crew gets to have a good time there!"
She started thinking about Sarvok, wondering if he was taking advantage of
the various pleasures that Risa had to offer. She smiled as she remembered
their time together on the jungle planet. "We were able to be with each other
almost all the time. It was wonderful." She sighed, "Of course when we
returned to the Odyssey, life got back to normal. I've been so busy trying
to catch up on my work that I really haven't had a chance to see him very
much. And then this darn conference came up. I didn't
even get a chance to say good-bye to him."
Damara was brought out of her reverie by the computer's announcement that
they were approaching the Odyssey. Damara easily piloted the shuttle into
the Odyssey's docking bay and set it down lightly. She disembarked and
looked around, almost expecting Sarvok to meet her there. She frowned
slightly and tried to contact him. ~~Sarvok?~~
No answer. ~~Sarvok, can you hear me?~~
Again, no answer. "He must be too far away for him to communicate with me."
She knew he was alive -- she could sense it. And there was something else
she could sense as well, a vague uneasiness, a feeling of being trapped.
"Wherever he is, he's in trouble."
Damara began walking toward her office. On the way, she spoke to the
computer. "Computer, locate LtCmdr Sarvok."
"LtCmdr Sarvok is not on board the Odyssey."
"Yes, I know that. Where is he?"
"LtCmdr Sarvok is currently on a mission."
"What sort of mission?"
"That information is classified."
"Computer, this is LtCmdr Damara Seven. Display the mission brief on the
terminal in my office. Authorization code Seven Alpha Seven."
"Understood. Authorization code accepted."
Damara walked into her office and sat down at her desk. She briefly scanned
the mission brief and then went back and read it a second time more slowly.
"So he's on the moon." She looked at her chronometer. "But he should have
checked in by now. I know something has gone wrong." Damara's blood ran
cold as she thought about the dangers that he could be facing right now.
There was no telling what those rebels would do to a Federation officer.
"I've got to help him." Damara stood up and quickly exited her office. As
she walked, she tapped her comm. badge. "Damara to Security."
"Ensign Gard here, sir."
"Ensign, meet me in Transporter Room 2."
"Aye, sir."
"Damara out. Computer, I will need appropriate clothing for a reconn mission
on the Risan moon."
"Acknowledged."
Damara entered the transporter room and nodded to Ensign Gard. "Beam me to
these coordinates, Ensign." She handed him a PADD with the coordinates for
the rebel base. "I want to be approximately 100 yards outside of the
compound. Understood?"
"Understood, sir."
As Damara felt the familiar tingling sensation of the transporter, she
thought to herself, "I didn't even get a chance to tell him good-bye."

::morphs into a rat and looks through vents looking for any sign of
Sarvok's
team:: ::Thinking:: Okay Algar, you have to calm down. The team needs help.
If you
can't communicate with the team something's wrong. Let's start at the
beginning:
We were assigned to regain control on Risa. A rebel group had taken
over the
planet's government and thrown the planet into chaos. Captain Klindt
separated the
crew into two teams. Alpha team which I've been assigned to was supposed to
land
on the Risan moon Alao in an old freighter and proceed to get any or all
information
on the group of rebels. That much went smoothly. We landed without incident
and
we broke into the building housing their computer core. I provided a
distraction by
changing into multiple forms chasing away guards or having guards chase me.
The
jungle actually helped me "ditch" my pursuers. Due to the dense foliage they
did not
see a steep drop that led to a pit with sheer walls. I changed into a hawk
just in time
to see them fall head over heels into the dirt. I then flew back to the
building to see
what else I could do. When I got there the rebels where mobilizing and it
looked like
Sarvok and his team hadn't gotten out yet. I decided to stall for time by
morphing into
a Terradon and dive bomb the rebels. I managed to draw their attention and
at the
time it seemed like a good idea. They began to fire their phasers at me and
I tried to
out manoeuver them but with my increased wingspan and overall size I was
clipped by
a phaser blast and sent spiraling down to the ground. Once I hit I morphed
into my
liquid state and oozed into a drain and found myself in the building. Which
leaves me
right back to where I started from.

<<OOC: I thought I posted this! And I didn't read my mail til today, so
unfortunately the Captain's reminders were read late.>>
Duty Log
Our mission was to go to Risa and gather information about the new rebel
government, whose base was on the moon Alao and who had seized the capital
and surrounding area along with hostages. We entered Risan space aboard an
old freighter. The alpha team, led by Sarvok, was to beam onto Alao and
infiltrate the compound. The rest of us, the beta team, with the Captain
Klindt, were to beam into the capital as "civilian tourists" and be taken
hostage.
When we arrived in Risan space I began scanning the space and bodies for
vessels and defenses. The rebels have a few small ships orbiting the moon
and scanning approaching vessels, as well as arrays on the planet operating
at a very high capacity. The compound could not be scanned-- it was
protected by a field which the primitive scanners on our vessel could not
penetrate.
My suspicions about the rebels (I thought that they were connected with the
Essentialist movement) were affirmed when we discovered that the weather
grid had been altered to provide only minimally pleasant weather conditions,
and only in selected areas like the capital. The rest of the planet was
suffering severe storms.
Upon beaming down we approached the capital and were taking hostage. I
spotted the leader of the rebel guards for this part of the building and
recognized him as one of the Essentialists who had been protesting on Risa.
During a fight which broke out as we attacked some guards I took him hostage,
after killing a few guards. One of our crew suffered more than minimal
wounds, the rest were unscathed. We managed to gain access to the interior
of the building and the engineers and I began to work on
the computer system under direction from the Essentialist.

Ensign Tony Fetterman
Duty Log
SD 9611.30
I took up my position on the perimeter of the camp with Commander Damara
and the others. I inquired if she could contact Commander Sarvok via her psy
abilities. Unfortunately, for some reason, it did not work.
Commander Damara gave permission for me to take up a position that would
enable me to drop a tree on the guard shack to our north, to provide
Commander Sarvok and the others with a safe egress. I moved out with all due
caution and stealth. I arrived at a likely prospect of a tree and settled in
to wait.
The shield over the compound flickered momentarily, however they had
automated backups as well. I took this as a sign that Commander Sarvok and
the others were getting the job done inside and could probably use a
distraction right about then. I received permission from Commander Damara to
create a diversion.
Lacking the proper materials to set up any kind of effective trap, I
decided to use myself as bait. I stepped out into the roadway leading up to
the area and fired once at the three guards in the guard post. The shot was
absorbed by their shielding, however they reacted as hoped.
They called for reinforcements and hit the alarm. This caused the
guards inside the compound to direct their attention outwards, hopefully
allowing Commander Sarvok and the rest to ease their way out. Ten of their
guards responded to the alarm and headed out of the compound.
I fired my phaser killing one guard as they exited, then dived for the
opposite side of the road to lead them away from the rest of the crew in the
woods. Using the underbrush, I moved to a flanking position and switched my
phaser to stun. I moved to near point blank range on one guard and stunned
her with a shot to the back. I then dodged away as phaser fire began probing
the position.
The shields dropped and stayed down this time. I moved in on a third
guard intending to stun him as I had the last one. He somehow sensed my
approach, turned and fired hitting me square in the abdomen. I returned fire
and stunned him.
I then moved back to the position where I had spotted a likely looking
tree. I fired at the tree base at an angle. The tree intersected the
guard shack laterally collapsing the entire structure. I then moved to the
remains and stunned another guard still moving within.
I checked over the top of the now log and confirmed that the rest of the
compound was clear of guards. Having heard the phaser fire still going in my
absense, I surmised that the others in the away team outside the compound
decided to join the fight. I moved back into the underbrush searching for
the remaining guards.
I attempted to get the remainder of the guards to focus their attention
away from the other away team members, so I abandoned stealth and went
crashing through the brush as loudly as I could. The guards pivoted and
focused on me as planned. I turned and fired on the nearest one
(approximately 20 meters). I forgot to reset my phaser from low stun, so my
shot was wasted.
As I dodged the return fire, I reset my phaser and took aim on the guard
I had spotted before. I returned fire on him and killed him with a shot to
the head. I moved into position on another guard as quietly and quickly as
possible.
Before I could fire, I was beamed aboard the merchanter ship. I
confirmed that the entire away team had made it back aboard and then
apparently blacked out from my wound.
I awoke in sick back with Dr. KXyl hovering over me. She tended to the
phaser burn and told me that Commander Sarvok had carried me down to
sick-bay. I thanked her and retired to my quarters for the evening.

Computer access file Fetterman, Tony Personal Log, begin recording. I
had a bad feeling about this mission from the start. After countless
incursions under fire and overwhelming odds, the numbers finally caught up
with me. I took a bad phaser hit in the abdomen and further humiliated
myself by passing out in the transporter room.
Dr. KXyl told me that Sarvok brought me down to sick-bay. I will have
to thank him for that. Gods what a botch up job!
<<Becomes restless and eases off the bed to begin pacing the room.>>
We were completely unprepaired for our portion of the mission. We
should've gotten the blueprints for the building and briefed on them before
hand. We should've had an external method for shutting down the shields and
demolition packs as well.
<<Pauses in his pacing to smack a fist into his cupped left hand>>
I fault myself entirely for not suggesting it. I know better than that.
My lack of rank here has me second guessing myself saying my superiors know
better than I what is required.
Only problem is we don't have a Chief of Security to coordinate things
with. Having been in command before, I should be taking care of these
over-sights and suggesting avenues and approaches for ground ops. It's
unfortunate, but we really aren't prepared away team-wise.
<<Stops pacing and slumps his shoulders with a heavy sigh, as if the weight
of the world was on his shoulders.>>
I need to begin offering to help organize the away teams materials so we
are better prepared for these planet operations. I have no intention of
getting burned again just because we didn't decide to bring a shield damper
or det packs. In short, I need to begin offering my experience in these
style of operations.

Computer, begin duty log: Now I have 2 wounded men in my sickbay! The
mission to Risa accomplished its goals, sortof. Although Beta team did
rescue the hostages, and much information was retreived from the computers,
Sarvok, Torres, and I were stuck in the compound on Alao for awhile, and 2 of
our team were wounded during rescue our attempt. The information we brought
back will have to be analyzed to see how much use it will be to the
Federation in future attempts to disband the rebels. There were
just too many killed for my peice of mind. We are supposed to be a peaceful
group. Killing gaurds where ever we go is not the way to broadcast our
peaceful intentions. Even though I know it was necessary, I find any waste
of human life apalling. That fact that I had to kill, is not an experience
I hope to repeat in future. I would do it again to protect a superior
officer, my hopes are that with better preperation, I won't have too.

USS Odyssey
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SD 9611.30
::Damara sits in her office finishing up the last of her work for the day.
Computer, open my duty log.
Computer> Duty log open.
Upon returning from my science conference, I discovered that the Odyssey had
been dispatched to Risa. Apparently, a rebel political group had taken over
the planet and were holding hostages. Sarvok had led a team to Risa's moon
where the rebel group had a base. Since Sarvok's team had not reported in,
it was assumed they were trapped on the base. I beamed down to help with the
rescue.
Once there, I met up with Lt. Gill, EnsFtrman, LtAlgar, and LtjgKNuChi. We
began to formulate a plan for getting into the rebel compound.
Unfortunately, our hands were tied until a way could be found to bring down
the forcefield surrounding the building. I was sure that if Sarvok was still
able to move around freely, that he would find a way to cut the power. I
tried to contact him telepathically, but I was unable to do so.
Gill had a map that Sarvok had been able to send him earlier and we began to
study a way in. Gill felt that Sarvok and the others would probably be
hiding in some vents near the back entrance, so we positioned ourselves
there. EnsFtrman requested permission to prepare a little surprise for the
guard. After hearing his idea, I approved of it and he moved off to a tree
located near the guards. Meanwhile, Algar and Knuchi moved off to see if
they could find another way into the compound.
Soon after that, the power went out, but the back-up generators kicked in
almost immediately. We didn't have a chance to get inside the building. We
were running out of time, so EnsFtrman created a diversion and managed to get
the guards to chase him. They had lowered the forcefield at their entrance
and Gill and I were able to slip inside.
Once inside, I followed Gill as he followed the map to the possible location
of Sarvok's team. Once we got there, though, we discovered that they were no
longer there. We began a search of the area and finally found them trying to
disable the back-up generators. We then began working our way back out to
the entrance. Algar had been wounded, but we managed to get him outside.
Once Ftrman joined us, we were able to beam up to a transport that was in
orbit around the moon.
While Kxyl worked on Algar's wounds, we set a course that would get us close
enough to the Odyssey to be able to beam aboard her. Soon after that, we
approached Deep Space 9. We are currently docked there.
On Risa, we found ourselves in a tunnel. (Lt) Cdr Tamara, Captain
the access(sp) panel and when the hostages the Captain and (Lt) Cdr got over
to it, helped them in. Towards the end of it all, the gaurds were getting
suspisious(sp) and we needed a distraction. (Lt) Cdr Tamara started doing
something or another, and the Captain and I got the rest of the hostages into
the tunnel. All except for one, which the gaurds shot.
(Lt) Cdr Tamara and Captain Klindt got the gaurds out of the way, and then
we were beamed into the freighter, then to the Odyssey.
Having completed our mission to Risa, we are now back aboard the Odyssey.
While in the capitol, Lt Steph, Ensign GDT, Ltjg Tom, and I were responsible
for accessing the computer system. My hostage gave us the access codes. We
disconnected the terminal to avoid engaging an alarm created by accessing the
system with those codes and also scanned the building to locate the rest of
the Beta team and the hostages. We also used the com system to create a mock
earthquake alert, sending the guards to
shelters and to repair some "damage." After doing this, we crashed the rest
of the system from another terminal.
Finished with the computers, we led many hostages to safety through the
tunnel and located the transporters using the one functional terminal. Steph
and Tom had gone looking for what they thought might be an underground
shipyard. We then beamed ourselves and the hostages to the freighter, and
then left the system before any Essentialist vessels could pursue.
After we beamed back aboard the Odyssey, I discovered that my Essentialist
hostage had gotten away and is somewhere aboard the ship-- hopefully
pretending to be a Risan hostage if he hasn't already escaped and done
something more heinous.
One last item of note-- the phaser coils mysteriously blew out for no
apparent reason. I am hoping the Essentialist terrorist has not gone from
fundamentalist oppressor to sabateur.
The Odyssey was sent to stop a rebel group that had taken over the
pleasure
planet of Risa. The crew was split into two groups. Klindt took command of
one team
and LCdr Sarvok was given the other team. I was assigned to Sarvok's team
and we
were sent to the Risan moon called Alao. When went down in a freighter and I
went
to cause a distraction. The team succeed in entering the rebel's encampment.
Unfortunately the team was separate and Sarvok, KXyl, and Ens Torres was
captured
by the Rebels. Already suffering from several injuries I entered through the
air ducts
and proceed to drag myself to their rescue. ::Winces as Algar tries to move
his injured
shoulder:: I was injured while distracting them, I was clipped in the
shoulder by a
phaser blast and at the time I was a terradon. So I fell from quite a height
and I was
definitely in some pain. Damara arrived and took control of the situation,
unbeknownst
to me Lt(jg) KNuChi was in the same air vents with me. We came across on
another
and she helped me to the an overhead compartment. At this time Sarvok
escaped,
Damara and the broke in and we all met at the reactor. I went in and was
shot again
and I went in and out of consciousness. KNuChi came to my rescue and carried
me
to safety even after I'd changed back into my natural form. I found myself
outside and
the team was once again in a fierce battle with the rebels. KNuChi and I
"rode" to
their aid. KNuChi once again saved my life and helped on board the ship. I
believe
she saved my life about three times already.
We were then beamed into the Odyssey
and I was taken to sickbay were I am now residing under the Doctor's care. I
hope to
see Lt(jg) KNuChi soon so I can thank her personally for saving this
Changeling's life.
Duty Log
We started this mission in asisting the Risa government in removing a rebel
problem, in the capital of Risa. As the mission briefing said "Over two
thousand people in the capitol and several nearby buildings are being held
hostage."
When we got to the surface a couple of guards had to be delt with which was
accomplished quickly. Then Lt Gill and I quickly located the main computer
and a passage to it, which was nothing more than a "crawlspace"as a couple of
crew members refered to it. I was acting as a guard for Sarvok as he
attempted to access the main computer. A couple of guards came in the
computer room, suprised we took them out, but not before on of them fired and
hit out escape "crawlspace".
Subject: Trouble in Paradise 2
I returned from shore leave to find myself in a situation I was totally
unfamilar with. The Odyssey had been sent to Risa, the crew were divided
into teams to accomplish several but linked tasks.
I was assigned to Alpha team upon my arrivial and shortly afterwards
found myself in a tunnel backing up Lt Algar.I guess he was as surprised to
see me as I was him but that wore off instantly and we began working as a
team to get to the generator room or to find Sarvok, which ever came first.
LtAlgar seemed to be having trouble, so he asked if I could help him down
the tunnels and we made our way to the generator room. As we
approached our objective, I thought I heard something but was not able to
verify it so we proceeded to open the hatch that led to the generator room.
Lt Gill showed up about this time and Lt Algar decided to lead the team
into the room. He Morphed into a crystal polar bear. I followed armed with
one of my knives. Lt Gill had a hand phaser.As we entered the room. Lt
Algar spotted a guard and grabbed him but before he could react, he was
shot by a second guard, who I took out with the throw of the knife. Lt Gill
and I got to Lt Algar about the same time, just as he was collapsing. We
tried to contact the others and Lt Gill took out the last guard.By this time
I
had grabbed LtAlgar and Lt Gill and I proceed to take Lt Algar back to the
outside. While moving toward cover, Lt Algar turned into a liquid state and
I took off my jacket so he would have a warm place to rest in. I decided
not to leave him so I carried him toward the safety of the outside and the
bushes. As we approached the light, I heard Lt Algar yell to duck and as I
did he morphed enough to shoot a guard that would have killed me. He
was strong enough to be able to carry his own weight to the safety of the
bushes. We made it to the forest where we dropped behind some trees.
I then checked the area for guards as Lt Algar pulled out his phaser and
handed it to me. I looked behind him ashe was and proceed to throw my
second knife and killed the guard that was heading toward us.He tried to
raise the others and in time, after a few minutes we were ordered to
proceed back into the tunnels to assist with the rescue mission. Before
returning to the tunnels, I did retreive the knife, and followed Lt Algar
back into the area. I should say I rode Him back into the area for he had
turned into a Rhino beast to create better cover for us both. I fired and
continued to fire his phaser until we had cleared the gates when his leg
gave out and I was forced to jump. We encountered on more guard before
we secured the area. I notified LCdr Damara that LtAlgar was down and
the area was secured but was not sure for how long and to hurry. I went
over to him and got him to his feet and started for the entrance. As the
others joined us it was clear that he would need help to get out. I picked
him up and carried him out and was met by KXyl who took control of the
situation and Lt Algar.The final fight of the area took place as we waited
for the freighter with all of us standing off the guards as one unit. It was
a
Glorious Fight.As the Alpha team beamed aboard, I continued to cover the
area until we were all on board. Ftrman was hit as we left the ground and I
covered him until we were safe on board, where I left him in good
hands,Sarvok's, and proceed to my conn station.
I took the helm and headed toward the Odyssey where we would beam
over. It was about this time that I finally checked with sick bay to see how
Algar was doing. FsLt. KXyL informed me he was doing fine. I was very
glad to hear that. About that time, red alert was sounded and I plotted in an
evasive course in case it was needed. I was oreder to lay in a course for
DS9 and did so and locked it in and proceeded to enter the safe area in
what seemed to be record time.
Duty Log SD 9611.30
The Odyssey was ordered to go to Risa, or more specifically it's moon Alao.
Some rebels had taken control of the moon, and taken just about everyone
hostage. So the Odyssey was loaned a freighter and everyone went aboard. when
we got within trasporter range of the planet, we beamed down in teams. There
were 2 teams, team Alpha (LCdr Sarvok's and LCdr Damara's team) and team beta
(Capt Klindt and Cmdr Mason's team) <<I might have the beta and Alpha mixed
up>>. I was on Capt Klindt's team, and our
mission was to act like a bunch of scared tourists, and let ourselves get
caught. And we did, we were taken into a large room, with a power conduit
inside. So bunch of officer's (including me) started a bit of a riot, we were
knocking out the guards and stuff like that. So while we did that, Capt
Klindt was cutting some wires at the conduit, disabling the alarms. After we
had knocked out all the guards (and Klindt was finished) we went into a
drainage pipe with all the hostages that were there. Then Lt
Steph, Ens Torres and I <<I think that was it or maybe Torres wasn't there
sorry if I left anyone out>> tried to find a computer terminal, while the
rest of them tried to free more hostages. When we got to the terminal we
contacted Starfleet and told them of the situation, and advised them to send
some ships. then Alpha team somehow broke through the defenses and all the
hostages (and the teams to) were beamed up.
Note: I'm not sure exactly what happened to Alpha team or what their mission
was.
Duty Log
Stardate 9611.30
Lieutenant Commander Sarvok Cha'Tavek
Strategic Operations Officer
USS Odyssey NCC-613556
Our mission to Risa went off almost as planned. I do not know the whole
story about Beta team, but should be debriefed very soon. Alpha team, my
team, was sent to a moon of Risa named Alao. We were supposed to infiltrate
the rebel base on Alao. I had Lieutenant Gill stay outside to keep the power
generators down as long as possible. Ensign Torres, First Lieutenant KXyl,
and I entered the base to retrieve as much information on anything relative
to an attempted overthrow of the rebel government. We
managed to do this without any flaws. We uploaded all info to the transport
in orbit of the moon. By this time, I already had an internal map of the
compound, so I sent it to Gill's tricorder, in case my team was to get
trapped somehow. And, it was a good thing that I did, because seconds after
I did this, the power came back on in the compound, and we were trapped as
the out force field came back online.
After some planning, Kate and I decided to dissable the main power generator
and the backup one, in an attempt to lower the force field down. We got the
main power generator down, then a few seconds later, the backups kicked in.
It was at about this time that several security patrols swarmed over us. We
got to the backup generators, took out the large amount of troops guarding
it, and dissabled it. Seconds later, Damara and the rest of Alpha team
entered the compound, and we left together. We then
beamed back to the transport and headed for the Odyssey. By the time we got
there, Beta team was already well aboard.
Although the mission went almost as planned, and we took very light
casualties, something still bothers me. Usually, I am able to pick out a
trap. And, as soon as we uploaded the information to the transport, I
relized it was. But... I am still puzzled as to why I did not notice
earlier. Possibly my mind was somewhere else at the time. It was almost as
if the rebels were expecting us to infiltrate their base. If they did know
about it ahead of time, I wonder who in Starfleet told them. There was
definately someone high up leaking information to the rebels. Although, I
doubt we will ever find them.
Tamara stood outside Damara's quarters a moment. She knew this could be one
of the finest interviews yet, giving Damara's species. She prepared the
questions in her mind and announced her presence. The door opened
immediately. She entered and noticed Damara looked a bit sad, but then the
Borg smiled and motioned for her to have a seat.
"Would you care for something to drink?", Damara asked courteously.
Tamara smiled. "Thanks, Dam, I'll have some hot tea, orange spice sounds
nice."
Damara nodded and walked to the replicator. She came back a moment later
with the tea and placed it in front of the counselor. Then she took a
seat across from her.
Tamara took a sip of tea and began.
"Tell me about your life as a Borg. We know so little about your
species."
Damara looked down for a moment. "Well, I'm not sure I can tell you
very much. I don't remember a whole lot about being on the Borg ship."
Tamara tilted her head, puzzled. "When were you assimilated? Or were
you created Borg?"
"I was created as a Borg.",Damara said in a low voice.
"What were the circumstances involved in leaving the Collective to
join Starfleet?"
Damara leaned back in her chair. "Well, I was a Borg scout.
My explorer got trapped in a nebula. All of the systems went down and
I was losing life support. A Federation science vessel found me and
beamed me out before it was too late."
Tamara tried to imagine bringing a Borg on board the Odyssey. "How were
you treated aboard the Federation vessel? Borgs are generally not well
thought of, Damara. Present company excluded, of course."
Damara nodded to acknowledge the compliment. "Not very well, I'm afraid.
I was thrown into a Federation prison. They thought I was a spy. Later,
a Vulcan named T'Kal mind melded with me and gave me a sense of identity.
He also learned that I was not a spy, so they released me."
Tamara looked shocked. "I'll bet you were very scared and lonely at that
time in your life. Where did you go when you were released?"
Damara shrugged. "It was a long time ago. T'Kal took me to the Daystrom
Institute. I stayed there for two years."
Tamara was fascinated. "Yes, I can see they would be very interested
in you and your implants. Did you enjoy your stay there?"
Damara smiled for the first time since the interview began. "Yes -- I
had been injured in prison and they replaced my left eye with an android
eye. A Klingon prisoner tried to kill me and I was injured in the
fight. They also gave me android hair so I look more "human".
Tamara looked bewildered. "So why did you join Starfleet?
You could have returned to the collective at this point. After all, it
was your home."
Damara shook her head. "I can never return to the Collective. That is not
an option for me."
"Why not? I don't understand, Damara."
Damara looked the counselor in the eyes sorrowfully. "I would lose my
identity again -- my sense of who I am."
Tamara nodded her head in understanding. "Ahh..that is a precious gift,
Damara. Tell me about your time at the Academy."
"My academy years were very difficult. I faced a lot of prejudice there
because I'm a Borg. You'd be surprised how many people had relatives
who died at Wolf 359. I was taunted and even had my life threatened
while I was there."
Tamara lowered her eyes. "Well, a lot of people throughout the Alpha
quadrant were killed by the Collective. That's not something that's easily
forgotten. Or forgiven."
Damara looked away, sighing. "Yes, I know. All too well."
Tamara hesitates a moment before asking this question. "Tell me, Damara.
If we encountered the Collective again, would you aid Starfleet with
information? Or would you prefer to stay neutral?"
Damara shot Tamara a look of surprise. "Of course -- my
loyalties are to Starfleet completely. It's funny you should mention that.
On the Loth, we had a training exercise that involved my being kidnapped
by the Borg and reassimilated."
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
Tamara shivered in disgust. "That sounds horrible!"
Damara nodded and hung her head. "It was very traumatic for me. I had to
attack my own ship! They ended up using a self destruct while I was on
board. I almost quit Starfleet after that. I was afraid that it would
really happen one day. I hadn't realized before that what a danger I
could be to my friends."
Tamara shook her head, thinking that test was a bit unfair. "But now that
you've faced that situation, you feel more comfortable?"
Damara thought for a moment. "Well, not more comfortable. I know it can
happen. But my friends were very supportive. They said it could happen
to anyone."
Tamara reached out and touched Damara's hand for a moment. "I know these
have been difficult questions for you, Damara. Thank you for not being
insulted and for answering them honestly."
Damara smiled. "I have no reason to be insulted -- and I'm always honest.
I haven't learned how to lie yet.I had a friend who taught me how to
'exaggerate' though", she said with a wink.
Tamara rolled her eyes and leaned back in her chair. "You are getting to
know me pretty well, Damara. So, do you have a favorite Holodeck program?"
"Yes -- my favorite is a program given to me by my friend, Ahrele."
Tamara, who was fond of Ahrele herself, said "Tell me about it!"
Damara grinned. "It's a program of her -- so I will have someone to talk
to. I've installed holoprojectors in the arboretum so I can talk to her
there."
Tamara leaned forward in her chair. "That's fascinating. But how can she
respond when you tell her about new things happening to you? How can all
the proper responses be pre-programmed?"
Damara explained. "Oh, it's completely interactive. She programmed it to
respond the same way that she would if she were really there. Of course,
it's not the same thing."
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
Tamara thought it would be wonderful to have a program like that for
keeping in touch with Sean. "It sounds like a wonderful way to keep in
touch. Do you record every use of it and forward it to Ahrele?"
Damara said ruefully, "I haven't been because I don't know where she is
right now. She's head of the Special Operations Group and their location
is a secret."
Tamara looked thoughtful. "Ah, I've heard of that group. So, now to the
personal aspect of the interview. You aren't required to answer any
question you don't want to, Damara."
Damara nodded."Go ahead."
Tamara tried to think of a polite way to ask such a forward question. Then
just decided to ask. "Tell me about your feelings regarding Lieutenant
Commander Sarvok. Are you angry? Hurt? Sad? I know it must have been a
shock."
Damara clenched her hands in her lap. "You have asked me a very difficult
question, Tamara. It's something I've been asking myself. How do I feel?
Some of these emotions are still new to me -- it's difficult to express.
I had never been in love before I met Sarvok. Now.... well, I just don't
know." Tears form in her eyes.
Tamara handed her a tissue, nodding sympathically. Damara smiled weakly and
wiped her eyes.
"Tell me, Tamara, has this ever happened to you?"
Tamara looked up in surprise. "Well, yes, actually. But he spurned me. I
ended up dating Sean Silona...Who I fell in love with and married,
of course."
Damara put down the tissue and looked at Tamara with interest. "So, you
were able to fall in love with someone else?"
Tamara nodded and smiled. "Yes, Damara. But it took a while to fall in
love with someone new. Everytime you fall in love, it's different."
Tamara leaned back in her chair and stared into space. "Sometimes it's
just as intense, but different. You will never feel love for anyone
exactly the same as you feel for Sarvok. But yes, you will love
again. I'm sure of it."
Damara shook her head. "I just can't imagine loving anyone else except
Sarvok. Having a relationship is a lot harder than I thought it would
be. I'm afraid I may not be cut out for it."
Tamara gave Damara a hug. "Damara, you are sweet and kind and very loving.
I guarantee, you will love again. But you have to get over your first love
before you can let another man into your heart."
Damara leaned back, still hugging the counselor. "Thank you, Tamara.
You've made me feel better".
Tamara smiled at Damara as the hug ended. "Well, I think we need to
conclude this interview. I want you to know this has been one of the most
interesting and enjoyable interviews I've ever done."
Damara looked surprised, thinking she had ruined the interview by crying
over Sarvok. "Really? Thank you, Tamara. That's very nice of you to say."
Tamara said seriously "I would also like to say that I consider you to be
one of the finest beings I have ever met. Thank you for allowing me this
moving and enlightening interview."
Damara walked her to the door. "You're welcome. Goodnight, Tam."
Tamara exited Damara's quarters, thinking over the interview. She sighed as
she thought of the lonely moments Damara was facing ahead. Then she took a
deep breath and hurried back to her office to meet Ensign Torzel for a
counseling session.
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
Crew, this is my version of Torzel's counseling session. Just sending it to
you as I'm posting it, also.
________________________________________________
Tamara was seated in her office, reviewing some of the crew files. When her
door chime sounded, she glanced at her chronometer in surprise. Ensign Torzel
wasn't due for another 10 minutes. "Enter", she said, raising her voice
slightly.
Torzel walked uncertainly into Tamara's office. "Hello, Counselor."
The counselor's calm demeanor put him instantly more at ease.
"Hello, Ensign. Nice to see you", she smiled.
"I wish I could say the same Counselor. The last time I was in an office
like this I was on Trill- Being examined after some incidents regarding my
joining, to my previous host.I believe my current difficulties are related."
Tamara gestured to a chair. "Please, Torzel, have a seat."
After he was seated, she smiled softly. "Well, I can promise you I don't
bite. What seems to be the problem? Perhaps if you gave me some
background?"
The ensign leaned forward in his seat. "Of course. My first host was Trill
mystic, one of the first joined Trill to experience spiritual phenomena."
Tamara cocked her head to the side. As far as she knew, the Trill were not
known to be an exceedingly spiritual people. "That sounds fascinating!", she
said encouragingly.
"Yes, he was quite adept at what ancient Terrans called "astral projection.
It was never determined how this might affect the symbiont. It seemed to
handle the...stress...quite well. However, my fourth host was a half-Vulcan
woman. She had advanced telepathic abilities. The symbiont had difficulties
being joined to her, although they were very minor, including only such
things as temporary disorientation
and picking up extraneous thoughts. The host was also quite enamored with
Vulcan logic, thus keeping most of the problems in check."
The counselor wanted to be sure she understood. "So, the original host
abilities transferred into the symbiont? And the symbiont carried this
ability to the other hosts?"
Ensign Torzel nodded. "I believe that is what occurred. However, my current
problems are more directly connected to my last host. Before being joined,
Torzel was romantically involved with the previous, female, Brex host. She
was a Starfleet scientist who was studying wormhole temporal phenomena.
While conducting an experiment in the wormhole, her runabout was caught in an
anomaly. The host was killed. Brex survived long enough to be transferred
into the body of an unconscious Bajoran woman. It
survived there en route back to Trill, where it was joined to Torzel.
During the time in the wormhole, the Brex lifeforce spoke with the Prophets."
Tamara frowned in thought. "That seems strange. That a symbiont would be
transferred to a host with which the symbiont was romantically involved. I
don't see how that could be allowed. The emotional repercussions in any
host/symbiont relationship would seem to preclude joining two persons who
were already involved."
Ensign Torzel looked at the floor. "The reasons for that have never been
determined to my satisfaction. The priests who tend the symbionts are
involved with assigning the hosts. Perhaps they made the decision based on
Brex's experience in the
wormhole."
Tamara raised her eyebrows. "So, the symbiont is given no choice as to the
host with which he must join? Neither the host's nor the symbiont's opinions
are taken into consideration?"
Torzel looked at Tamara directly. "That is correct. The symbionts do not
communicate directily until joined. They can only give vague
impressions....and I'm sure I was giving an impression of attraction to
Torzel. One other host related item: my third host participated in many
shamanic ceremonies among the Terran Native people of Dorvan III."
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
The ensign leaned back in his chair and got to the point. "Now--to describe
the actual problems. Since Brex was joined to Torzel,. I have been
experiencing various episodes of disorientation, deja vu, and sometimes lost
time as well. But the real problems began when the "Bajorans" came aboard.
I detailed all of that in my recent logs, so I won't bore you unless you want
more detail."
Tamara shook her head. "No, Torzel. That won't be necessary. I make a point
of reading unclassified logs of crewmembers who make an appointment with me.
It tends to save time later." Tamara gathered her thoughts for a moment.
"Ok, it seems to me the common thread in your problems are the extreme
spirituality of all of your hosts. I agree. It seems as if the hosts
feelings and abilities were carried on thru the symbiont from host to host."
Torzel nodded. "That is normal."
Tamara continued. "Now, this has got to be a fairly common thing for Trill. I
mean, dealing with all the memories, feelings, etc of the previous hosts. I
would think the problem would acellerate as the symbiont acquires a large
number of hosts", she thought out loud. Suddenly she asked "Torzel, do you
meditate?"
Torzel looked a bit surprised. "Yes, often. Although I do not actually
engage in specific spiritual disciplines like my previous hosts. Except for
last week, with the Bajorans."
Tamara continued her train of thought. "Have you ever attempted to access the
previous hosts one at a time? Perhaps you are getting all the emotions and
feelings at once, perhaps that could cause the disorientation and sense of
deja vu."
The Ensign shook his head. "That is a complex ritual, and is generally
reserved for a time when a Trill has many close friends who can...take on the
personalities of the previous hosts. I was hoping to perform it sometime
later in my starfleet career in this host. My other hosts were
less..social...than Torzel."
Tamara considered the possible benefits and harm that could come from
accessing the hosts at this stage. "Hmmm. It sounds to me as if you could
benefit from it now. All of your hosts had very strong personalities. It
must be difficult to keep them all in check."
Torzel sighed. "Indeed. Although the personalities do not actually conflict
in joined Trill, except perhaps those of my half-Vulcan and Bajoran hosts."
"I wish I could help you." The counselor paused, thinking. "There are no
other Trills on board. Have you ever experienced hypno-therapy? It sounds as
if you are experiencing something akin to Multiple Personality Disorder. Only
not quite that distinct. A blurring of the personalities."
Torzel raised his eyebrows and allowed himself a small smile. "Well, the
shamans on Dorvan II hypnotized me many times, but not exactly for therapy.
And after I was joined to Torzel, I was hypnotized by the priests who wanted
to find out what Brex learned from the Prophets. Brex couldn't remember
anything about it until hypnotized."
Tamara leaned forward, determined to come up with a solution. "I think
Torzel's mental condition is more significant now than Brex's. Do you need a
leave of absence to go to your home planet? Or do you have ideas for
performing the ritual on the Odyssey? I am sorry, but I am unfamiliar with
Trill practices and customs."
Torzel paused. Then he said hesitantly, "Well, I do not require Trill for the
ritual. Any sentient beings will do. But it is a necessity that I be close
friends with all of the participants. It is a very sacred ritual, and it
does require a priest from Trill."
Tamara leaned back in her chair and got out her padd. "All right, how many do
we need? One for every host?"
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
Torzel nodded. "That is correct. That is including the Bajoran, who although
was not
counted as the seventh Brex host, would still be represented. My last
concern was regarding the "Bajorans." I have heard the concerns of some of
the crew that the Klingons we encountered were not really Klingons. I am
worried that the Bajorans may be similarly...unusual. But I have no way to
determined whether or not all of my
sensations were the result of my disorder."
Tamara made some notes. "Yes. Right now it would be very difficult to tell.
I think we should do the ceremony as soon as possible to get your perceptions
sorted out. Who would you like to include in the ceremony?"
"Hmm." Torzel paused in thought. "FsLt Tracy."
Tamara began writing down the names.
Torzel continued, "Also Lieutenants Steph and Tom. And Ensign GDT. Dr.
Kate, too. I still need two more people. Would there be any way we could
get people from off the ship? I have one very aged friend on Dorvan and
another on Vulcan."
Tamara thought for a moment. "Well, that would be up to the captain. What
about Sarvok? and Damara?"
Torzel nodded. "I almost suggested them. But I am concerned that a former
Borg could be at risk. Her individuality still might not be secure, and the
host personality might be able to take possession of the body permanently."
Tamara tried not to laugh. "I promise you, Torzel, Damara is a very strong
woman, Borg or not. It can't hurt to ask her."
Ensign Torzel shrugged and smiled. "Well, if she is willing, I would
certainly not protest. I hope the priest wouldn't. As to Sarvok, that would
be fine if you think he would be interested."
The counselor checked her chronometer and smiled. "All right Torzel, we have
a plan now. I suggest you ask the possible receivers for past hosts. As soon
as you have seven of them, let me know and I will inform the captain. I will
do everything I can to ensure your quick recovery."
Torzel walked out of the office very relieved. "Thank you counselor. Have a
good day."
