DUTY LOG: USS MARQUESAS
Stardate: 9712.04.00:01
Quell, Thomas H., Ensign, Deck Officer of the Day

[Began Duty Log at one minute past midnight, Ship's Time. Postflight
inspection report received from previous conn officer. No pending message
traffic.]

00:01--Took conn from LtAsted. Switched to third watch mode, in which
subroutine C-47 expands its basic mission of monitoring nonessential systems
to become a ship-wide security and environmental systems controller.

00:17--Discovered irregularities in elecrtoplasma system taps. Might be the
source of power degradation in crew living areas and waste management decks.
Initiated a scan of power transfer conduits to isolate the problem.

00:19--Located faulty ptc. Systems affected not critical. Logged for
maintenance repair when day shift reports.

00:45--Observations of deck duty officer: Graveyard shift aboard a starship
bridge is as lonely as it gets in Starfleet Command. I am technically "in
command" of the USS Marquesas, but would take no action outside standard
operating procedures without alerting the XO, who would notify the Captain.
The exception to this "don't get original" rule is, of course, I would be
expected to take whatever action is required for the safety of the ship.

00:35--Ensign Panthro paced onto the Bridge and worked at his Security
Station until 01:48. He gave no orders and left the without a word.

00:58--Checked impulse engines to see if they were back on line. Negative.
The lack of impulse power is becomming a real challenge to my helmsman's
skills. Maintaining an orbit with docking thrusters alone is trickey, even
with the Central Computer handling the complex sequence of mini-bursts
necessary to hold the ship in a steady path around this planet. As a helmsman
without impulse power, I feel like a man whose only choices are to crawl or
sprint.
Starships need to walk softly among the gravity wells of a solar system.

01:32--Message traffic from Starfleet Command. Routine; holiday greetings
from several senior officials in Federation. Posted to appropriate department
heads. Info cy to Captain's reading file.

01:58--Checked security monitors on all decks. On line and functional.

02:20--Lt. Avia Winter surprised me with a progress report on repairs,
delivered in person and accompanied by a plate of three sandwiches and a
thermos of Colombian coffee. She'd replicated the midnight snack for her
engineering night crew and added me to the gift list because I was alone on
the Bridge. We spoke briefly about the impulse engine repairs, then she left.
I ate two ham sanwiches and sipped black coffee while reviewing her progress
report. Two more days until impulse was on line. Posted the report to the
Captain's Reading File.

02:49--Checked warpdrive conduit temperatures. All w/in tolerances.

03:07--MSG traffic from Starfleet Maintenance. Routine; bulletins about
mandatory upgrades and refittings. Posted to Chief Engineer's reading file.

04:14--Solar flare. Shielding not required at this distance. Estimated
denegration of ship's systems <1%.

04:47--MSG traffic from Starfleet Medical. Routine; new treatments for flu
and colds. Posted to Chief Medical Officer's reading file.

05:21--Ate the remaining sandwhich; coffee long expired. Returned thermos and
plate to replicator.

06:13--Checked boat dock and shuttle bays by monitor. Ran automated systems
checks on
both Runabouts. No discrepancies noted. Docking bay doors discovered to be
11.3 degrees centigrade; too cool for the inside of a shuttle bad. Noted
abberant reading and posted maintenance request for Environmental Controls.

06:35--Priority MSG from Starfleet Command. Logged as
"Personal/T.S.--Restricted" for CPT Wit. Posted to his reading file.

06:46--Additional Priority MSG traffic; same as above.

07:10--Began sysrtems check of Science and Engineering Stations.

07:19--Computer reports faulty plasma conduit in starboard nacelle. Reported
to engineering duty officer for imediate action.

07:21--Systems sweep complete. Results posted to tech log.

07:25--Sensor readouts for night watch posted to Security log. No
abnormalities.

07:45--Executed helm/nav postflight checklist.

08:00--Turned over conn to CmdrMaarek. Relieved of duty.

~~~ Captains Ready Room ~~~
Looking out the room window, Wit looks at the stars in the
Cardassian/Dominion section of space. With the ship patroling the border at
1/4 impulse, more of the details of each star can be seen. They look more
beautiful at this speed. Wit thinks as he takes in the full view the window
provides him. "Yes we must slow down and smell the roses, " he says softly,
remembering an old earth saying.
Returning his attention to the PADD in his left hand. He continues to
read the latest orders.
"....... after repairs to the Impulse drive are completed. The
Marquesas is to continue its routine patrol of the Fed-Card/Dom border. At
2210 on 9712.07. The Marquesas will set course 126.768 Mark 23 at Maximum
warp. You are to continue that course until you have reach Edis-4. The
fourth moon of the planet Aronius. Setting a standard orbit on the side
hidden from Aronius. You are to await further
orders.
MISSION OBJECTIVE
{Classified}
[Clearance-07+]
Entering his clearance code; Wit finishes reading the message. Getting
up from his chair, he's in no hurry to confirm his suspicion. "Computer
display Aronius and standard surrounding area, " He asks while standing next
to a holocommunicator.
A large sector of space appears in the holocommunicator. On one side of
the sector a light blue line zig-zags around a variety of stars and planets.
On the other side of the line is the Federation insignia. On the direct
opposite side of the sector is a red line. It also zig-zags around a variety
of planets and stars. However, on the other side of this line is the Romulan
insignia
"Computer, highlight Arondius, "Wit requests after giving a slight nod.
A planet about one-third into the neutral zone is highlighted.
"Computer why is this planet important to the Federation?"
"Level 15 Clearance Crystal required for such information."
Grining, Wit lifts up the wall plaque of the Marquesas and reaches
behind it. Taking a small rose colored crystal from the back; he walks to
the another wall and rapidly knocks on the wall seven times. A small section
slides up and a tray with a small holder in the shape of the crystal, slides
out.
" I knew my times working for Quark would someday pay off, " chuckles
Wit as he places the crystal in the tray holder. Once the crystal is placed.
The tray slides back into the wall. The wall section slides down and blends
in with the rest.
"Now what importance is Arondius to the Federation?"
" It is sometimes used by the SOG for covert operation training. Mostly
used when the operation involves underground or cave work"
"I see. Computer erases all logs of this from your memories and replace
the timeframe with program Wit, cover file Delta," instructs Wit.
"Complying, complied."
Wits nods as he straightens the wall plaque. Suddenly he senses someone
with him. Quickly turning around, he faces an empty room. With the sensation
still nagging him. He sets the next mission in motion.
"Ensign Quell. Program the course 126.768 mark 23 to be reached
anywhere along this border, " he orders.
" Aye Sir. Course 126.768 mark 23 from anywhere along this border,"
Confirms Quell.
Just as quickly as the sensation appears. It disappears.
Shaking off the feeling as just a mild case of pre-mission jitters. Wit
sits back in his chair and returns to viewing the slowly passing stars. Not
realizing how wrong he was about the sensation.............
USS Marquesas
NCC-606719
"Computer, open duty log." The computer beeps.
"Just my side of the story for our mission. This is not a full report.
Anything else is covered in the other officers logs."
"I helped Shilo put the bird back into its nest and then climbed the
plateau. Me fingers were numb by the time we reached the top. I've never
climbed a rock in me life. Upon arriving at the top, there was a cave
entrance. One thing I did notice was how plain the top of the plateau was.
It was flat with little bumpiness."
"We moved into the cave, and I went near the monolith. I was then
surrounded with a warm pink light. I had never felt so good, full of life,
so much energy. I reached out and touched it, and the whole away team was
transported deeper into the cave."
"There a humanoid named Telaris Re greeted us. I immediately formed
some special connection with her. Her presence had the same effect as the
monolith did. She talked to us and gave Lt. (Jg) Sexton a data crystal."
"We were transported back to the ship, and the ship moved through a
wormhole back to the Fed/Cardy boarder."
Duty Log SD: 9712.07
Computer, Open Log
Computer:> Log Open, Recording.
To say my duty shit of 9712.07 was normal would be in error.
The Marquesas set course for Romulan Space, more precisely the neutral
zone and a small asteroid field. Once we arrived we were to wait for further
orders. While en route Ens Quell and the Captain acted, ::Pauses and thinks::
strangely. I am unsure as to why, but the Captain showed emotions which I
believe were that Quell had threatened him or something, however Quell just
sat at the Helm. However Quell was unresponsive for a short period of
time. (This wasn't when u got punted)
Once we waited a Jem'Hadar Warship approached the first reaction that
came to Panthro was to goto Red Alert which I would agree with, however Wit
had us remain at Condition Green(Green Alert). We were then hailed by the
Jem'Hadar Vessel. Which turned out to be under Federation control, Commander
Maeve was in command of the vessel.
CmdrMaeve beamed over and Asted and I were ordered to the Captain's RR.
Once we had all gotten in the Captain proceeded with the mission briefing.
First Lt Asted and a group of 4 or less will move into Cardassian space and
neutralize one of the white distribution plants for the Dominion, this if
successful will severely limit their supply of white in this quadrant.
Lt Avia Winter was in command of the Marquesas while CptWit gave the
briefing, I soon exited the RR and was told to take command. I relieved Avia,
but she was worried about what I did not know, however it was Shilo whom
worried her. Apparently something happened to Shilo I have not been briefed
on the details shortly before I allowed Winter to go Wit and Quell passed
each other as Quell exited the lift and Wit entered it, what surprised me was
what Winter said as she came up to Quell, I did not make it out clearly, but
Winter for some reason didn't like Quell. Quell returned to his post after he
asked me.
Asted was talking with Panthro about the AT which he'd been assigned
since Panthro had been chosen to go with them. Our course was set for
Federation space with the Jem'Hadar ship in our shuttle bay (or tractored).
We entered Federation space and are beginning phase 2.
«SECURITY OFFICE, SUPPLY ROOM»
Preparing for his departure Steven takes four standard issue Federation black
jumpsuits. He lays them on the table. Opening a cabinet using his security
clearance, he takes four class three tircorders.
He taps his comm. badge. "Lt. Sexton, Lt. Hernandez (Frank), Ensigns
John and Panthro, please meet me in the security office." with a stern voice.
Continuing, he loads the equipment into his bag. He picks up a padd
and writes a few things down for the mission.
Equipment request:
5 type 3, phaser rifles
3 packs of compression grenades
12 proximity bombs
1 interlaced fused explosive
He sets the padd down and replays the action of Panthro on the bridge
in his mind again. "Computer, open duty log."
"After I had received my mission orders, I began to assemble my team.
I asked Panthro to gather a few things, and after he did he asked of the
mission. I told him that we had something important to do.
I avoided the obvious, for one he didn't need to know right then and
there. I held, but he insisted that I tell him. Despite his massive size I
held my ground. If I don't feel I should tell him our mission then I will
not."
"When the time is right he will find out. Not anytime sooner.
Computer, end and save log."
Wit sits alone at the table nearest to the main viewing window. He
intently goes over his PADD reports. A cup of Raspbeery iced tea rests in his
left hand
SOD DUTY LOG USS MARQUESAS: 9712:13.13:00
Security Officer-of-the-Day: Quell, T.H., Ensign
He quickly goes over the entries until several of them catch his eye.
17:40--Resumed roving patrol, Deck 20. Checked airlocks at Docking Ports.
Tricorder readings indicate continuing temperature disparity on inside
bulkhead of airlock. The bulkhead registered at 11.3 degrees C, just as I
discovered in Shuttle Bay "boat deck" while Deck officer (stardate 9712.04).
Reported again to maintenance.
02:15--Resumed roving patrol. Checks made on Environmental support and Waste
Management Deck. Discovered another temperature abnormality, this time on
bulkhead near waste expulsion port. Same temperature: 11.3 C, as oppposed to
normal ship temperature of 20.5 degrees C. Filed a strongly worded
maintenance report and posted to Captain's reading file.
04:10--Deck 29. Serious maintenance discrepancy. Chief Valerik discovered a
stress point on antimatter storage pod #17. Due to the potential hazard to
the ship, I awoke maintenance officer and requested immediate corrective
action.
Concerned, he taps his Commbadge. " Wit to Winter.
" Winter here, Captain."
" When was the last time the anti-matter pods were given a complete
check?" Wit inquires.
"Sir the last 25 percent were check ...... four days ago."
" Very well, Lieutenant. However, on your next duty I want ALL the
pods checked."
"Sir that will take 3/4th's of the duty shift the whole shift to
complete. I would...."
" Lieutenant I am aware of the time costs. Take half of your engineering
staff and half of the maintenance staff and work on them."
"Aye Sir, " dryly answers Winter after a brief pause.
Wit continues reading the report. Something about Chief Valerik that
doesn't sit well in his mind. Why does this name bother me?
"Sir, First Lieutenant Asted reporting, " Asted says sharply from behind
Wit.
Turning around to face his 2nd officer. He sees Asted in full covert
gear. " Sir, I just wanted to report that the AT is all set, everything is
aboard the Jem' Hadar ship, and ready to go."
"Very good Lieutenant. Set course to 134.45 by 343.56 Mark 2 and we'll
follow you until we near the Federation-Dominion/Cardassian border. Good
luck and your Gods Speed."
"Aye Captain and thank you." Asted sharply salutes, turns, and heads to
the lift.
Watching the Lieutenant leave, Wit gives a quick silent prayer. The
lifts opens and Asted enters. As the door closes Wit taps his badge. "Wit to
Maarek. Commander have Ensign Quell set course to 134.45 by 323.56 Mark 2.
Engage four minutes after the AT departs and come to a dead stop 250k meters
from the border."
"Acknowledged, Captain," responses Maarek.
" Computer what is the time?"
" Time to get back to your physical, Captain," is the computers reply.
" Computer, did Chief Shilo program you to responed that way?"
"Yes, but Piqua Bu did most of the programing"
Shaking his head, he quickly downs the iced tea, stands and heads to the
Turbolift. Dropping the glass into the recycler along the way...............
Steven turns around as the ground shakes and a bright yellow glow
fills the air. It lights up the jungle terrain and animals make strange
noises with the explosion. Steven stops and turns to the tattered away team.
"Ship self-destruct" he says. He watches Frank hobble along with
Dennis. "Why don't we stop and rest here."
With a sign of relief they drop their equipment. "I'll be right
back." Steven says as he takes his rifle and a tricorder. He moves off a
distance from the rest of the team, making extensive scans with his
tricorder.
He stops and leans on a tree native to the planet. He touches his
hot forehead with has a horizontal gash in it. ~~ This humid wet planet
won't do our wounds any good. Infection city here we come! ~~ he thinks.
Steven leans back and takes a deep breath of the hot humid air. He
looks into the purplish sky, the sun beginning to set. ~~ I have a mission
to keep... Frank is just slowing us down... ~~ Shutting the thought out,
"WHAT AM I THINKING?! Do you realize what you just thought?!?" he says to
RE: Unknown craft reports
BEGIN TRANSMISSION >>>>>>>
There has been confirmed reports of an unknown craft in our sector;
traveling far below impulse. It was first believed that it's eight nacelle
engines were nuclear driven because of speeds below those of impulse.
HOWEVER, the times spotting ships changed course to investigate, the craft
within reaction times rivaling the newest Starfleet ships, went into warp.
As of this time it's defenses or weapons are unknown. Yet, it has been
reported, but not confirmed, that it has some sort of Forward weapon.
If spotted, use extreme caution. It is feared that this could be a
Dominion prototype.
I feel so tired but I couldn't sleep if given a seditave. I have just
finished working on Steven Asted. I almost lost him !!! He is more than just
a crew mate he is a good friend. I am certified in telepathic healing but I
have not practiced in three years. I know CmderMaarek would have been the one
to do it but I couldn't wait. Asted was slipping away. Giving him a push
mentally along with the medications seems to have worked. But
only time will tell for sure.
I am glad Winter is alright. She was not hurt seriously but could have
been. Evidently Chief Valerik knew she was aware of a sabotage. If Tom had
not gotten there when he did she might have been killed. I wonder if the
Captain knows Winter and I knew about Tom? I feel I should have told him but
I was bound by patient confidentiality. But if he knew would he see it that
way? I don't know if under the circumstances I should tell him or not... No I
will have to give this more thought before I act on it.
I better go and check on Steven and Tom...
My shift started out with Cadet Bu and I in sickbay. We were preparing
for the
Captain to come in to complete the physical we had started a while ago. At
that
time his T-call count had been elevated. Once the Captain arrived I asked Bu
to
check on his T-cell count again, it is still elevated. At this time I can not
find any
physical reason for this. I do think stress and lack of rest can be the
cause. We will have to keep checking on this once in a while.
All of a sudden I got a strong feeling the AT was in serious trouble. I
contacted Winter telepathically and asked her how bad it was for the AT and
she answered BAD . The Captain ordered the Commandor to leave, leaving the
AT when they need us.
I am truly concerned about CptWit. I am pretty sure it is stress and
lack of a good nights sleep, but with all that is happening he wont be
getting any better soon. I will just have to keep an eye on him.
The AT is in need of medical help but there is nothing I can do at this
time. I will have Bu prepare sickbay so if we..NO.. when we get them we will
be prepare.
I hope Winter is doing ok. I think I will just have to go see her when she
gets off her shift. I know she and Frank are very close. This has to be a
real strain on her.
I cannot get the thought of Quell out of my mind. It seems every time I
turn around I seem to have him on my mind. He and I do need to have a talk I
would like to find out what is going on with him. After my visit with Winter
I will go back to my office in sickbay and go through his med records. He had
help....
~~~ Captains' Ready Room ~~~

Wit scans over the promotion and awards list in his PADD. "Computer,
make a notation that all promotions and awards are granted. Also, remind me
to present them after the next duty shift," he says after pressing his left
thumb onto the PADDs' thumb reader.
"Acknowldege, " returns the computer, "and when are you going to let me
out !!" the computer quickly adds in a totally different female voice.
For a brief horrible moment; Wit thinks the computer has once again
become intoxicated. Reconizing the voice, a slight smile appears on Wits'
face. "Katie? Katie is that you???" He questions.
"Is it me?? You know anyone else with this lovely voice???"
Wit lets out a loud chuckle. "No, I guess not."
" So when are you going to let me out. This drawer is dark and my
casing is getting dusty."
" Has it been that long," he asks after remembering the last time he saw
her.
" It's been six months, 18 days, 12 hours, 43 minutes, and 12.56
seconds. Basicly the entire time you have been Captain, plus some."
" Wow, it has been long, " he says while standing up. " Time to get you
out and introduce you to my command."
" Why that is really nice of you," she says in her best sarcastic voice,
"Don't you think you better first submit some logs??"

"That's right! I have been busy with the next ship promotions. Time has
sliped by once again. Would you be so kind and return the computers' normal
voice. So I can submit my Duty Log and return to let you out."

"Captains Duty Log opened and recording," responses the computer in its
normal voice.

" The Marquesas is currently orbiting a moon just in the Federation
side of the Dominion/Cardassian border. The convert mission met a large Jem
Hadar force and ensuing fight caused the confiscated Jem Hadar scout ship to
crash on the Dominion controlled planet.
"At this time no word from the Away Team as been received. However,
rescue plans will be planned on the assumption that there are survivers.
"Ensign Quell reported that his duty shift was for once, quiet, " Wit
says while rubbing the back of his head.
"There has been some rather distrubing occurances aboard lately. I have
Quell and Panthro investigating them.
" With a gleem in Lieutenant Shilo and Cadet Bu eyes, I let myself be
poked, probed, and punctured for their amusement. They found nothing
seriously wrong. Just a slight T-cell elevation. But to them it's serious.
Even though they cannot find the cause. Most likely it's from stress. Yet, I
don't feel stressed.
" That's it for now. WIT OUT."
" Logs closed and submited, " returns the computer.

" Inform Commander Maarek to meet me here in 30 minutes, " Wit remarks
as he exits the room........

The Captain was is quite a festive mood as was most of the crew. It
seems the earth holidays effected everyone.

We were just cruising along when our sensors detected a disabled Ferengi
ship. The ship seem to be haveing trouble with it's cargo and wanted us to
take it off there hands. This is very strange for a Ferengi ship. The cargo
consisted of a little fat man and some animals. They were creating havoc on
the Ferengi ship.

Wit all of a sudden left the bridge and returned with a tree which he
set up on the bridge and put ornimants on (I supose this must have something
to do with the earth holidays).

All of a sudden the next thing we knew the little fat man and his
animals were on our bridge. Before he left he gave all of a a gift. Well
Asted got a piece of coal though I am not sure why.

That must be how holidays on earth are.

"He gave the bridge to Commander Maarek and left the bridge.
While the Commander and the Ferengi Captain were talking the Ferengi tried to
give us his cargo and let us keep part of the profit. This didn't seem like
any Ferengi I have ever seen."

"I mean only taking part of a larger profit that they could get?
Then from the TL Wit emerged with a Christmas tree. He set it in front of
the view screen and Frick (the Ferengi Captain) began yelling as his cargo
got loose from his ship."

"It transported itself to our bridge. It turned out to be Santa

Our mission had changed from simply standing by to running into and
retrieving our downed crew members on a classified mission to destroy a
Dominion White supply station. The mission was completed, however not without
incident. Lt. Commander Frank was injured during the mission and as that
states they were retrieved.
Captain Wit had an plan of course which in short would use the nearest
sun to our AT's position as a cloak for our ship once we had retrieved them
if we were being pursued by enemy ships. Which would have the metaphasic
shields online. The Metaphasic shields would enable us to go into the suns
corona and hide from other ships sensors. We would also leave a debris field,
inside of the field was a probe which could monitor ships beyond the sun.
We knew that our team was in danger and set course for them. We had a
problem with the metaphasic shielding at this point and I helped in
Engineering to restore it. Lieutenant Winter should be commended for her
quickness in Engineering. I also was in error about the damaged or
malfunctioning part. This doesn't happen often, but fortunately Avia saw it.
As stated in the opening of this log the AT was retrieved. However it
was not totally without incident. The Jem'Hadar and Cardassians were heading
towards the planet and our position. We used the plan Captain Wit had laid
out which sent us into the suns corona which held the Jem'Hadar and
Cardassian Ships at Bay. The debris field seems to be holding up our story
and we are waiting out the other ships. We should be able to stay in the suns
corona for about nine or ten days. Possibly more depending on power
consumption and our current storage.

My Duty shift started in sickbay with two new ensigns. EnsLJway and
EnsYuri. EnsLJway is our new medical assistant and EnsYuri is our new science
officer who I suspect will also be helping out in sickbay at times. We no
sooner got started with a short tour in SB when EnsLJway spotted what she
thought might be a bomb.With everything that has been going wrong on the ship
lately I was also concerned at first. As
it turned out someone was just playing a joke on her. I do not like that kind
of thing in SB.

Once everything calmed down we got SB ready for the AT. As we were
getting things in order Cadet Bu showed up for her shift. Once again she
reported in late I am going to have to report her to the commander if she
continues to be late.

The AT has finally made it back on board . It looks like Frank has a
broken leg.
I still need to check the rest of them out .

Steven and the other AT members re-materialize on the transporter
pads. The insides of the ship less colorful than the fire fight down in the
Dominion base. Relaxing Steven steps off the pad with his supply bag in
hand. Without hesitation he walks straight to the TL.

"Security Office" he states to the computer. The lift beings to
hum. He checks his chrono. "3.....2.....1.....Well that should take care of
them." The lift stops and Steven steps out and walks over to the security
back entrance; the only sound heard are his feet hitting the floor.

He opens the door using his security clearance and dumps his bag
on a desk. Suddenly his comm badge beckons him. "All away team members
report to sickbay ASAP." He frowns and instead heads for the bridge to
inform the Commander of the possible success.

Just as he steps out into the corridor again the red alert lights
go on and the ship shakes a little.

We reached the Maquis base and formed an away team. Several of the crew
were on it, and we beamed down into a cavern. Suddenly, Maquis soldiers
started attacking us. It seemed as if they came out of nowhere. There were
many of them, and they were relentless, but we managed to take them down. We
had noticed that there was a hidden passage in the wall. We moved through it
to find something quite unexpected. A Cardassian ship.

We boarded the Cardassian ship and started to get familiarized with the
controls. We knew that we would be called to use it at a later time. The CE
Raven, it was called. We were getting prepared, making sure the controls
worked properly, and learining our posts. I noticed that the Security station
was rather big, and that wasn't too pleasing. The Cardassians are too
nervous.
The Marquesas crew was to pilot the Raven to Deep Space Nine before the
fleet got there and take out as many ships as we could. I was quite welcome
to the idea. A skeletan crew would man the Marquesas until we returned.

An away team, composed of Security and Tactical Officers, hidden in a
Dominion cruiser, were sent on a covert mission to destroy a white supply
base on a nearby planet. The team slowly crept up on the planet and opened
fire on the base. This drew a great deal of attention to the ship. Around a
dozen Dominion ships showed up and opened fire on the single our ship. We
made a crash landing on the planet. We must now wait for the Marquesas to
settle it's problems and come and rescue the team.

Duty Log-Stardate 9712.21

The ship was steadily moving along in a random direction at Warp 5 when
we detected a small disabled Ferengi craft. Everyone, who seemed in a cheery
mood from the Earth holidays, suddenly became concerned for the greedy toads.
I have recently become very intriguied by Earth's holidays, especially after
this mission. The ship seemed extremely battered by some unknown means. A
Ferengi Daimon, by the name of Frick appeared onscreen when we hailed
the ship. We continued to offer assistance while the Ferengi kept avoiding
the question. This started to piss us off. Finally he got down to business,
as he should have in the beginning. Then he offered to sell us his cargo for
5 bars of gold-pressed latinum, and upon delivering it, we would recieve 15
bars. Something immediately sounded fishy about this because the Ferengi
would lose profit. He then told us the cargo was an obese man and 8 reindeer.
This struck me as rather odd. All of a sudden a large sled of some sort lead
by, surprisingly enough, 8 live reindeer burst out of the side of the Ferengi
vessel. Suddenly, a very obese intruder appeared on the bridge with a large
sack. Naturally, I assumed it was full of bricks or doorknobs, so I yelled
"intuder!" and trained my phaser on him. Suddenly, presents appeared at all
our feet and he dissappeared. A very odd ordeal.

Note: Asted is now a Lieutenant Commander. Congrats Asted!

{{{{{{{{ Marquesas Brig }}}}}}}}

Wit stares blankly for a few minutes as Lieutenant (JG) Quell makes his
escape and heads to Main Engineering. As Quell approaches engineering, Wit
shakes his head; breaking himself out of his trance like state.
Confused, Wit looks around the room trying to understand his
surroundings. With the quickness of a flash flood. Wit knows remembers what
has transpired. Looking into the once occupied cell and now finding it
empty. Wit taps his commbadge. "Commander Maarek, Quell has escaped. If I
was to venture a guess. I would say he's on his way to Engineering. If he
shows, place him in restraints. If he so much as flinches, vaporize him!!!
Understand? "
Wit orders with every bit of anger he can muster.

"Understood, Captain, " returns the Vulcan Commander after a long pause.
"I am also looking for Lieutenant Winter as we speak."
Looking around the room and tapping his fingers on the brigs' control
console. Wit ponders his next move. " Acknowledged, Commander. I shall be in
Engineering after I stop in my quarters," informs Wit.
Why must the Captain stop at his quarters at a time such as now. Wonders
Maarek as he continues his search for Winter. He is not acting logical.

Returning to the secured rifle storage panel. Wit enters his code, opens
the panel door, and removes the rifle he earlier placed. For the "good of the
ship", he thinks as he checks the Type Two rifle once again. That's a bunch
of crock. Shouldering the rifle, Wit exits the brig with an urgency he hasn't
felt in a while....

Returning to the secured rifle storage panel. Wit enters his code, opens the

ship", he thinks as he checks the Type Two rifle once again. That's a bunch
of crock. Shouldering the rifle, Wit exits the brig with an urgency he hasn't
felt in a while....

The sight of a starship captain striding down the ship corridors with a
Type Two phaser rifle on his shoulder is not a common occurence. So it's no
surprised to Wit the he receives a few odd looks but, being the captain, he
is not questioned until he stops to wait for the Turbolift.
A group of new ensigns stare at Wit and continue to stare as they pass
him. A bolder ensign stops and turns back towards Wit. " Sir, if I may ask
the captain a question," asks the ensign after the required salute.
"Ask away ensign," answers Wit returning the salute.
"Thank you, sir. I was just wondering why you were carrying a rifle?"
The TurboLift opens and Wit steps to enter. "Target practice, ensign.
Target practice," repiles Wit with a grin as he enters the lift.
The lift door closers and the ensign is left with an "Oh" expression on
his face.

Inside the Lift, Wits' own expression changes to a frown. "Deck Four, "
Wit requests as he remembers the last time he was betrayed. It was over 25
years ago.
Returning from a successful raid on a Cardassian storage building, his
cell was making their way up Paazar Mountain. When, without warning, they
were ambushed by a small Cardassian patrol. As it turned out, only one of
his group was captured; his bride of two weeks. He latered learned that
Marrissa died from injuries received from Motag, a Cardassian investigator.
It wouldn't be until Wit was a junior officer on the USS Potemkin and a
chance
meeting with Motag in the ships brig. That Wit would have his final act of
revenge.

The Turbolift stops and the doors open. Wit exits and heads to his
quarters.

Having found that Takacar, a friend and member of Wits' cell, was the
betrayer. Wit decided death would be too good for Takacar. Taking a more
appropriate and demeaning course of action. Wit, with a dull jagged cutting
tool, cut off Takacars' right ear. Thereby showing the sign of betrayal and
loathesomeness for all the Bajoran people to see. From that moment on
Takacar was scorned and avoided by all the Bajoran people. He was even
ridiculed
by the Cardassians for getting caught. To this day Takacar is living, if you
can call it living, as a loner.

"Katie, audio and visual, " says Wit upon entering his quarters. " I
have something very important that needs attention and you are the only one
to get it done. More importantly, you are the only one I can completely
trust."
Marrissa, I once promised you that if I am ever betrayed again. That no
one, besides myself, will be hurt. I will keep that promise...............

proceded to escape. Winter was in trouble in engieneering. I had to stay in
SB and take care of my patients as we were short handed and I knew the
Captain would call me if he needed me.

As my shift was about to end Winter and a Chief Valerik were brought to

Wit watches her as she disappears into the ships mainframe.
"Ohhhhhh, nice.. " she remarks as her voice trails off.
Wit nods and begins to shuffle.................

Dealing himself a hand of Solitaire, Wit begins the wait......

~~~~~~Time passes slowly. But must carry on. Some of the best years. Have
come and gone... 3 hours pass ~~~~~~
With the care of a surgeon. Wit brings the last card closer to the top
of his house of cards. Closer and closer the card gets to the stack until
it's 1/4 inch away from the card house.
"BINGO," exclaims Katie as she emerges from the compter interface.
With the sudden noise, Wit prematurly drops the card; causing it to knock
down two hours of work to in two milliseconds.
"Ahhhh, " Wit sighs as he looks up. "It took you awhile. I was begining
to worry."
Dressed in early 1930's attire, Katie takes a long puff from a two foot
cigerette holder. "Say Big Boy. Did Clyde miss his Bonnie?" she asks while
chewing gum like a cow chews its cud.
"Well lets say I was getting a bit bored. Find anything?"
Changing into her normal clothes. She points her right forefinger at a
PADD on a table. "All infomation is transfered to your PADD."
Going to the table, Wit sits and punches in his code. " What was the
holdup," he asks as he begins to read.
"It was the code Quell and his StarFleet Intell contact used."
"Hard?" he questions while still reading Katies two hours of work.
"It was hard because of its simplicity. I was looking for all the know
types of codes, starting from ones used now and worked my way back to the
early 20th century. But I was striking out and was about to admit defeat;
until a wim came upon me. I tried a very simple code and that was it !!!
Hard, cause no one would have thought of trying it and simple in use."
"Which is?" He asks while still reading.
" Simply A equals 1, B equals 2, C equals 3, Etc, etc. When they got
into the double digits. They simply used any letter to seperate the numbers.
So the word ABC would be 123 in their code. Cat would be 31Z20. Simple, yet
hard."
Wit answers with a nod. "So he wants the implant removed," Wit says
softly....
there with Commander Maarek, and later had learned that he had escaped and
fled to engineering. That's where he apparently attacked Chief Valerik and
LOG OPEN, MR. QUELL.
In the turbolift, enroute to Engineering. I'm making this log as I go, hoping
that somebody will pick up the pieces if the enemy agent kills me. I just
escaped from confinement. Damit, I didn't want to do that. I was ready to sit
in the Brig until the Captain understood that I'm not a threat to his ship,
but when I felt the presence of a high-order psionic mind and realized he was
attacking Avia....I couldn't ignore her telepathic screams. If this
rat is what I think he is, nobody aboard the Marquesas can handle him but me.
Captain, when you receive this message, please believe me. I am operating
under strict orders from Starfleet Command. I have been directed to
neutralize the Dominion presence on this ship by any means necessary, to
include leathal force. Computer, where are we?
ENGINEERING DECK, MR. QUELL. ::Lift halts. Door snaps open.::
Kill the lights. Scan for lifesigns and weapons.
AFFIMATIVE. TYPE ONE PHASER, CHARGED AND SET TO KILL. TWO LIFESIGNS. ONE IS
LIEUTENANT WINTER. THE OTHER IS UNKNOWN.
Species of intruder?
ALSO UNKNOWN. INTRUDER IS LOCATED NEAR THE WARP CORE MONITOR PANEL. LT WINTER
IS ALSO LOCTAED NEAR THE WARP CORE--
Is Avia okay?
LT WINTER IS UNCONSCIOUS. BODILY STATE UNKNOWN. MEDICAL READINGS REQUIRE--
Shut up...can you get a lock on Avia and beam her to sickbay?
NEGATIVE. WARP CORE IS EXPERIENCING AN OVERLOAD. ANY ATTEMPT TO TRANSPORT LT
WINTER MIGHT FURTHER DESTABALIZE THE MATRIX AND PRECIPITATE AN IMMEDIATE WARP
CORE BREECH.
How long until the overload reaches critical mass?
FIVE MINUTES TO WARP CORE BREECH.
Jeez! Notify the Captain--call Panthro and request security.
TRANSMITTING REQUEST.
I'm creeping along in near-dark now...the half-light of the blue warp core
casts eerie shadows among the consoles. My psionic senses are open, but I
can't find anybody. That means he's blocking me...he knows I'm here. Good--he
needs to fear me. ~~Do you hear me, you rat? I'm a Giocondan...I'm your equal
or better...come out and fight, Dominion coward.~~
~~Why should I fight you? We are family.~~
~~Family? You're a saboteur...an enemy agent!~~
~~So are you.~~
~~What are you talking about? Have you harmed Avia?~~
~~I haven't killed her, yet. All in good time. She lured you here to me, as I
knew she would.~~
~~Why? You could have called me telepathically.~~
~~Now, you are outcast. Now you understand why we must fight against the
Federation, my son.~~
::Images flood my mind...warm skies...red sand beach with four crescent moons
hanging like the fading smiles of a band of Cheshire Cats...laughter...a
woman's laughter...::
~~Who are you?~~
~~Ta'Rika Helolith Geibortakh of the Giocondan, wife of Darius or Terra.~~
::My hands tremble...I reach to steady myself against a bulkhead...::
~~You're my Mother?~~
~~Help me complete this task, Tom. Then we'll transport to my ship and go
home. Your father is waiting for us in the Beta Quadrant. We'll be a family
again.~~
~~You're dead! You were killed when your ship exploded in hyperspace...~~
~~I survived...I am an agent of the new power in the Galaxy...your people,
the Giocondans, have been allies with the Dominion for six thousand years.~~
::A plan forms in my mind. I have to know!::~~What really happened to your
ship, the SS Midori Hanna?~~
~~The Hanna merely disappeared...I traveled home and was sent back as an
agent. I must destroy this ship. Its mission is hostile to the Dominion. It's
crew is loyal and cannot be swayed. And there are too many telepaths here~~
~~All right, Mother. I will join you.~~
~~I am so glad, my son!~~
::Sneaking my power up to full enhanced...Gotcha, you bastard...::
"Computer, lights!" I shout. ::A man with a phaser in hand stands by the
Warp console. It's Chief Valerik. I send out a sunburst of radiant, psionic
energy--glad Avia is beyond pain unconscious--and he slams against the
console, gagging on the telepathic overload.
I rush to tackle him, and the phaser scuttles across the floor.
Valerik doubles up and shouts in pain as my shoulder impacts his stomach. I
fall with him and we're grappling, rolling across the deck. Landing on top, I
sit up and grasp his shirt, punching him three times, hard. His head snaps
back with each blow, and green blood trickles from his nostrils.
"Impersonate my momma, will you?" I hit him again. "She was lost on the SS
Orion--not the Hannah!"
I continue to beat Valerik with my fists, cursing him for hurting Avia and
sabotaging the ship and trying to kill everybody aboard...I call him a
traitor and a spy and a lot of evil names in several languages...
I never even hear Commander Maarek and the ship's Security Police arrive.
Don't know what is happening as an enlisted sailor slams the side of my head
with the butt of his phaser rifle. I fall to the deck beside the unconscious
Chief Valerik. Green blood trickles from both our heads...blackness...I am so
tired....darkness...rest....
LT QUELL, DO YOU WISH TO END YOUR LOG?
Computer, this is Commander Maarek. Close Quell's duty log with this entry:
Apprehended. Enroute to the brig under restraints.
MR. QUELL'S LOG ANNOTATED AND CLOSED.
Computer, please note in my Supplemental Log: LT Winter and Chief Valerik
enroute sickbay. I have no information about why Quell attcked the Chief.
Obviously, there is a logical explanation to all this. We shall study the
data and determine the cause. Close Personal Suplemental.
SUPPLEMENTAL LOG CLOSED, COMMANDER.
I called Sickbay and asked for them to come down, but upon evaluation of the
situation deemed it more logical for us to beam up to sickbay. I also
informed the Captain of what had transpired according to the information
given to me by the security officer.
Upon arrival I lifted Winter onto a bio bed and Shilo began to take
care of the new patients. Mr Quell and Valerik were also placed on bio beds.
Once the Captain arrived he had both Quell and Valerik placed in full
restraints. A wise precaution. Quell appeared to be mumbling incoherently
while I was standing near him I thought I heard him say something about warp
core and sabotage. I instinctively called down to engineering and found that
the
situation was dire indeed. The Red Alert Sounded as the computer recognized
the breach in progress. I quickly left the sickbay for engineering my other
home.
Once I arrived I saw Frank and Ensign Negron. We quickly worked
together to get the warp core offline and into a powered down state. Venting
Warp Drive Plasma and locking down the injectors was part of this process. Mr
Negron opened the Dilithium Crystal frame to reveal a device which apparently
caused the malfunction and the almost catastrophic warp core breach. However
an interesting point to this device is where its probably origins are,
Gioconda. Currently the device is secured in a security locker under high
level security clearance. Due to it's nature of being the only piece of
viable evidence. This 'lead' as it might be called by a police officer of the
20th century earth might also want to 'follow up' on the lead.
I have been summoned to sickbay, apparently Chief Shilo believes I
maybe able to help Commander Asted. I am interested in what he has planned.
Lieutenant(j.g) Quell and Chief Valelik had apparently gotten into a
fight in engineering and were rushed to sickbay. Frank was beginning to ask
me about something, but I was called to sickbay by the Captain. I got a
Security team of four and headed down there. I had the chief put in
restraints and posted Ensigns Danyluck and Loehrer to be Quell and Valerik's
personal escorts. We stuck around for a while to make sure everything was
alright,
then we departed.Everything is fine now, everyone involved is recovering, and
Valerik has been contained.
time
I am not sure what is the cause of all this.
We have a new ensign who has arrived for his physical, EnsNogren, I
assigned
Piqua Bu to do the physical. I will ask her to report any findings.
While administering to Asted Commander Maarek notified me of three more
patients he was bringing to SB. LtAWinter, LtjgQuell, and a Chief Valerik.
The
Captain arrived just after the new patients and told me to keep Quell and
Valerik
in level one restraints. The Captain then pulled me aside and told me to
remove
the implant in LtQuell once he could withstand the surgery. As his head wound
was superfical I was able to perform the surgery right away.
I will have to stay in SB through the next few shifts in order to keep
the Chief
Wit sits in the Captains chair reading the latest Federation news on his
PADD. He finishes an articale about the USS Eclipse testing a new type of
shield and it's Captain having her second set of triplets. On a sadder note.
He reads about a Commander Zinnius, a fellow Bajoran, having to stay on Penal
Colony Resurrect because of fatal injuries sustained while on the planet.
He remembers reading about the Commander and how he was surely
going to have his own command one day. The Prophets do act in mysterious
ways, Wit thinks.
" Captain, the revised ETA to the Starbase 133 is 2210, " reports the
helmsman.
" Acknowledge, Lieutenant," Wit returns as he gets up and goes into his
Ready Room.
"Computer open Captains Duty log," requests Wit as he sits behind his
desk.
"Logs open, recording"
"The ship is currently enroute to StarBase 133. There I plan on
delivering Chief Valerik to base security. After that I have no plans. Lt.
Commander Asted is better, but, from Shilos' report, he is still not out of
the woods yet. Quell is recovering from the surgery to remove his implanet.
Winter has been released and his doing light duty, " says Wit before pausing.
" Captain, do you wish to continue?" asks the computer after a long
silence.
"Yes, to continue," responses Wit after a while longer. " While searching
for communications from Quell, Katie also came across some routine ship scan
logs. It seems that officers that I thought were loyal to me and the
Marquesas are not as loyal as I thought. What to do about them. I have not
decided. However, I will by the time we reach 133. I do know this. Lt
Winter has payed for her disloyality. Hers, will not be as severe as Lt.
Shilos'.
" On a more positve note. Our new assistant engineer, Ensign Nogren,
performed remarkablity. First day on the job and he discovers an unknown
to come," chuckles Wit. " WIT OUT."
"Closing captains Duty log"
" Now what to do about Shilo?" says Wit.
LtAWinter : was addmitted to SB on 9801.11. She was unconcious do to
lack of O2 I administered O2 and she came around very quickly. She was
released shortly afterwards but on light duty. I feel she will recover with
no lasting effects.
EnsNogren : being a new ensign he was given a physical by LtjgPiqua Bu
medication. We will do periodical checkups on him to keep it under control.
He was released for duty.
LtJgQuell : was addmitted on SD 9801.11 unconcious with a head injury.
He was placed in level one restraints on the Captains orders. Once his
Duty Log
Stardate: 98•01•17
Lt. Commander Steven Åsted
Second Officer / CTO
USS Marquesas
NCC-606719
The turbo-lift hums and stops on deck four. Its doors swing open reveling a
bright corridor. Steven steps out of the lift; a Lieutenant walks by and
nods. Do I know you? He thinks. He nods back acting like he knows the
lieutenant.
Trying to remember which way his quarters are a strange look appears on his
face. “Computer, where are my quarters?”
COMP> Lt. Commander Steven Åsted, your quarters are on deck four, section C,
room 281.
He looks at the door in ahead of himself and decides that is to the right.
He walks the deck paying close attention to all the rooms and sections. He
finally comes to section C, room 281.
He punches his key code in. That’s strange that I remember that and can’t
even remember where my room is! Thinking to himself again.
As the door part he steps inside to a dark room. Its coolness gives him
goosebumbs. “Computer, raise temperature to set preference.” The computer
beeps and the temperature rises. Steven goes to his tidy desk and sits on
the chair. As he sits it gives him a sense of familiarity.
“Computer, begin a duty log.” He waits for the computer to acknowledge. “I
have just returned from the Marquesas’ sick bay. I was told by the chief
resident there that I had suffered memory loss and - imbalances -” He pauses
at the word imbalance. “...In my brain.”
“I don’t really remember anything. I only remember waking up in Sick bay
with a young looking woman staring down calling my name.” A mental picture
of her develops in his mind. “After a few days of tests she has let me come
back to my quarters, which I had trouble finding.” He shakes his head.
“Well, I couldn’t remember where there were to be exact.”
“But, she has let me go and is going to let me return to LIGHT duty. She
told me that she will be seeing more of me until she figures out what was
wrong.”
He thinks for a moment. With all the medical techniques and equipment they
can’t do everything. “Computer, end log.”
Steven access from his personal computer the last few weeks pertaining to
him and any strange behavior. He finds several logs and reads them. He
doesn’t like what he reads. He also reads a few memos from the Captain and
Commander telling him of the current situation of Quell and the other unknown
person.
He stretches his tired arms, “I think that I’ll get her some flowers,” he
says out loud. He spends the next 30 minutes replicating the right kind. He
lifts the assortment of flowers and smells them.
They don’t smell like garden-grown but they’ll do. He takes them down to
sick bay and enters. The quietness foreign to him. He goes into the office
and lays them on the desk. He finds something to write on and he puts
Shilo’s name on the outside.
Folding it he writes only two words inside: Thank you
It appears that our troubles with Mr Valerik are only begining.
We had set course for Starbase 133 where we were to drop off Mr Valerik
for his trail. Mr Quell and Asted were at their duty stations after having
cleared rigourous Medical Tests in sickbay. Captain Wit resided in his Ready
Room through out the majority of the trip meeting with Lt. Winter for quiet
some time, I however am not previy to what they discussed. However Lt. Winter
did not appear happy.
Once we arrived at Starbase 133 I ordered Mr Quell to come into a
Standard orbit and so informed the Captain. I also ordered Lt Sexton to
escort Mr Valerik to the transporter room 1 to be beamed off the Marquesas
and to his holding cell aboard the Starbase.
There was a slight miscalculation on our part apparently, Mr Valerik was
able to escape, the drugs with which we were administering to him to suppress
his powers seemed to be inadiquate for his strengh which almost proved deadly
to Lt. Sexton. At this point I had informed Captain Wit.
Not soon after this was the alarm signaling that the shuttle bay doors
were being overrid open. I of course had Mr Asted prepair a Tractor beam to
hold the runabout here, however he entered warp short of clearing the
Marquesas to avoid the Tractor beam. A wish decision by himself. Dr Shilo was
on the bridge awaiting to meet with the Captain and I had recalled that Mr
Sexton was injured and I informed Shilo of this fact and the Captain allowed
the Doctor to do what must be done. Namely finding and mending Mr Sexton.
With Valerik in our runabout flying out at Warp 6 presumably the maximum
speed of the Dunable Class Runabout we were faced with two options that I
saw. One To follow him where ever he lead us or, Two to allow him to go.
However I believe the correct choice was to follow him to his source. Which
we did, of course.
In following Valerik his Runabout lead us into unexplored Beta Quardrant
Space. I can only assume he was prepaired for this contingent and has
prepaired a neatly layed trap, however this maybe be proven false without
futher information.
My shift started out fairly normal, with no major emergencies. I was called
to the Captain's Ready Room. He wanted to discuss my recent breach of loyalty
towards him. He told me that he was very dissapointed in me, and that he
never wants this to happen again. The incident will not go on my record,
since I didn't actually break protocal, but I am sure Wit will not soon
forget it.
I was extremely dispirited when I went back down to Engineering. Frank
picked up on this and we talked for a while about it. At first he found what
I was saying very confusing, since I wasn't making much sense. I managed to
put together a sentence or two coherently and I think he understands now.
I'm not really sure why his reprimand effected me so much, but it did. I
know from a couple of courses I took at the academy on the psychology of
different races, that Bajorans value loyalty above all and that to break that
loyalty is considered very bad. It probably had something to do with my
psi-senses, which I have been reluctant to use for some reason since this
incident with Valerik.
I heard from Shilo that Dennis was brought in for injuries from Valrik.
Apparently he escaped his custody, and sent a bolt of some sort of
thought-energy through him. She is not yet sure what will happen to Dennis.
At the moment, Valerik is somewhere, though we're not sure where.
COMPUTER, OPEN DUTY LOG. POST THIS TO THE CAPTAIN'S READING FILE, AS WELL AS
THE SHIP'S PADD.
LOG OPEN, LIEUTENANT QUELL. POSTING AS REQUESTED.
TO THE CAPTAIN AND CREW OF THE USS MARQUESAS: (Official report to Starfleet
Counter-Intelligence, attached.) I am creating this log because I want an
unencrypted copy in the Marquesas duty files for everyone to read.
I take this opportunity to publicly apologize to Captain Wit, Commander
Maarek and my immediate superior, LtCmd Asted, for the actions I took in
regard to my covert operation aboard this vessel. I was recruited for
Starfleet Academy from my father's shipping company. I did not have the
academic strengths required for admission to the Academy, since I was
educated non-traditionally. The only way I could be admitted was as a
"special" student--
specifically, one designated to be a Counter-Inteligence Agent. I accepted
this role with a rather romantic notion of spying as a noble calling.
However, the prospect of spying on members of this crew, whom I had begun to
regard with respect and friendship, quickly became repugnant to me and I lost
my idealism. I repeatedly attempted to terminate my CI status, but each
request was denied. Finally, in desperation, I resigned from Starfleet, but
that was rejected by the highest levels of SFCI. With great personal
distaste, I followed orders, as a Starfleet officer must do.
The result was that I entangled LT Winter and Counselor Shilo in my intrigue,
because I needed telepathic confidantes who could step in and complete the
work in case the enemy agent eliminated me. I was under strict orders to tell
no one; I violated those orders when I confessed my secret mission to two
fellow telepaths. I was also ordered in no uncertain terms to deny any such
mission existed and under no circumstances to alert the command staff
that SFCI had infiltrated this ship. To my eternal discredit, I followed this
latter order instead of exhibiting the moral courage required to trust my
Captain and tell Starfleet 'no! '
There is a very strong probability that SFCI will attempt to have me
reassigned to another vessel or placed in some other covert operation,
possibily even replacing the psi-enhancer which Dr. Shilo removed. I will not
comply with any such order, even if it means court-martial. My first choice
would be to remain aboard the Marquesas as her helmsman, learning my job from
the best crew in Starfleet. But, that decision is out of my hands.
In any event, you have my deepest apologies for my actions, and my solemn
oath that I will never display anything but fierce loyalty to this ship and
her crew as long as the Divine Power allows me to seve among you.
Lieutenant (Junior Grade) Piqua Bu
Assistant Chief Medical Officer, USS Marquesas
Stardate 9801.27
BEGIN DUTY LOG
I started off by being ordered by Shilo to report for duty in Med-Bay ten
minutes before my shift was scheduled to begin, although there were no
patients. Ensign Liz Janeway (medical assistant) was there before me. She
had medical problems - continuously vomiting. She was not drunk (hung over),
she didn’t have a stomach tumor, and she isn’t pregnant. I have no idea what
the cause of her vomiting could be. She also refuses surgery, although I’m
absolutely positive she needs it. She also refuses to be examined by anyone
but herself and refuses all suggestions of treatment (although she did take
the Pepto Bismol I offered her). And she also refuses to reveal the results
of her self-examination.
Yuri came by (she’s now stationed in Science, a very exciting position!), and
so did Dennis (our chief of security). Dennis had some problems, but he was
in a state of denial as to what was really wrong with him. I was absolutely
positive that Dennis needed surgery, but he kept denying it. I will ask
Shilo about his condition. Yuri speculated that Dennis was simply drunk.
Maybe Dennis and Liz have the same stomach ailment.
progress. Quell was immediaitly jump by the chief. Since I knew it was
Quell's fight and that he wanted to get even. I did not interfere, much to
the dismay of John. The fight was brief and ended with the death of the
chief.
With the detection of some nearby Jem Ha'dar. The away teams were
ordered back to the Marquesas. With four torpedos, well placed by Ensign
John, the outpost, as well as any Jem Ha'dar was destroyed.. WIT OUT."
Duty Log
Stardate: 98•01•29
Lt. Commander Steven Åsted
Second Officer / CTO
USS Marquesas
NCC-606719
Two feet repeatedly patter down the corridor on deck 4; like the
drums during the highland games. Steven's heart pounds and sweat drips off
his forehead as he jogs with a runner's high; feeling no pain he rounds the
corner.
He stops almost dead in his tracks when a group of small children
block the entire way. "Ewww! That man's all wet!" says a little girl
pointing.
Steven pushes his way through. "Sorry 'bout that-" apologizes a
middle aged woman in charge of the kids. He waives her off and smiles.
"Don't worry about it."
Once through the group of noisy kids he begins to jog again. His
entire shirt wet along his back and down his chest. He continues through the
deck until he reaches his quarters.
Once inside he takes his wet shirt off and throws it into the middle
of the floor. He lays down and extends his legs out. Stretching he bends
his entire body forwards towards the floor, almost touching it with his
chest. Holding there - "Computer, open duty log."
"I am ready to return to FULL duty, probably despite the doctor's
wishes. But I will nae wait around for her trying to find what is wrong with
me. I should take it easy...I read through my past logs and medical logs and
found that this has happened once before."
"I don't remember it though. But then I haven't remembered
everything lately. However, if anything like this happens again, I'm sure
that I will receive a medical discharge. I've just got to watch meself."
He slowly lifts his body up and stretches in another position.
Finishing his stretches he gets up and goes to the replicator. "White grape
juice." With a shimmer the glass with a clear-ish liquid appears. He
quickly downs the juice.
"Umm...I think I'm done computer. End log." The computer
acknowledges and he goes into his bathroom and gets into his * working *
sonic shower.
:::just getting back to her quarters after her WMD . Shilo decides to take a
shower before sitting down to write her logs. As she enters her bath area she
notices clothing and towels on the floor. ~~Bu~~ darn she is so messy.
Maybe some soothing music will help. computer..play music where I left off.
All of a sudden a loud and obnoxious sound comes from the speaker. Aaah
computer..music off. "Bu" even her music is messy if that is possible.
I am personally going to see that Bu,s shower is fixed! Giveing up on the
shower she gets a cup of hot tea and sits down::
I checked into SB and found everything in order with the exception of Bu
not being there as she should have been. I then reported to my post on the
bridge. The Captain and the Commander were getting two AT ready to go after
Chief Valerik. I did want to go with them but the Captain put me in charge of
the ship. I was a little nervious about this but I felt this was a good sign.
He is already showing he has faith in me again.
There were no emergncies on the Marquesas but the AT's were not so
fortunate. It seems the Captains team did find Valerik, and Quell and he got
into a fight. Tom was injuried but Valerik lost his life. The Commanders team
found more of the crystals so we now know the origins of the warp crystal.
Once the AT's returned the Captain took over the bridge. I hope I will be
given the chance to sit in the big chair again.
COMPUTER, OPEN DUTY LOG.
DUTY LOG ACCESSED, LIEUTENANT QUELL. STARDATE 9802.01.13:36
I am recovering from the knife wounds suffered at the hands of Chief Valerik.
The flesh of my forearm has completely been regenerated, and my blood loss
compensated by a combination of blood expanders and CMO Shilo's medically
creative stimulation of my bone marrow to accelerate hemoblobin growth.
Today, I completed a re-calibration of the sensor array at my helm station.
Even though it's a duplicate station, I want to be certain I can access
everything that Science and Ops can scan. Never know when their stations
might be down, or vacated. And it helps for the Helmsman to be able to see
where he's flying and what's out there.
RECOMMENDATION: Continued involvement with Dominion/Cardassian combatant
ships will likely result in further hostile action against the Marquesas.
Since the shields and containment fields are not impervious to enemy fire, I
recommend the Captain consider implementing SF Regulation 590-48(c): 'Any
vessel in a known hostile environment shall require such key personnel as the
Captain deems necessary to suit up against possible explosive
decompression and airloss.' Suggest we consider requiring ten percent of the
crew to don spacesuits whenever the ship goes to Red Alert.
REQUEST: Two hours holo-deck time at the end of the next watch, one charged
to my power ration and the other to Counselor Shilo, providing she has
completed her special assignment and is available.
NOTES: It's good to be a regular crew member.
COMPUTER, CLOSE DUTY LOG.
LOG CLOSED, LIEUTENANT.
STARDATE 9802.03
Lieutenant (Junior Grade) Piqua Bu
Assistant Chief Medical Officer, USS Marquesas
BEGIN DUTY LOG
I started this day in Sickbay. Shilo was on the Bridge (after she woke up,
late, and therefore reported to duty, late). Ensign Liz Janeway (medical
asst) and Yuri (science asst) were there. I had Liz sterilize the the
Intensive Care Unit. And I had Yuri run a diagnostic on the medical
department’s computers.
We were called to an away team. It was led by Dennis (I think) in disguise.
Ensigns Nogren and Yuri and I were on it. We were to beam over to a derelict
cargo ship and see what we could see. We saw dead bodies. It is my
conclusion that they all died of “old age” (meaning failures of body organs,
such as circulatory, renal, pulmonary, digestive, and endocrine system
failures). We beamed back to the Marquesas with two chambers, neither of
which I
examined.
END DUTY LOG
