Duty Log
Stardate 9608.2
Today we fought some Romulans on the neutral zone and they didn't live to
tell about it. We were however severly damaged and to make matters worse
some of the crew were taken over by some sort of alien presence. I was
ordered to be in charge of the bridge while the commander went down to help
out. I sealed off the bridge as a precaution and sat in the big chair and
checking out several systems. We eventually got repaired and our crewmembers
back to normal. This was just another days work.

We've been running on yellow alert for the past couple of days.
We're out near listening post 4, which is about halfway between Starbase 7
and the planet Bolarus, within the Neutral Zone.
Security has had double patrols to guard a ... mystery guest...
for our latest assignment. I don't know who our guest is; I think only Cmdr
Tnagra knows. Not that I'm the type to pry -- 'cause I'm not trying to -- but
I can feel the dampening field eminating off that section as we perform our
patrols. It must be somebody very important, and all this mystery certainly
has the crew's interest piqued.

Rogue stretched in her quarters. It had been a long week, and she
had pulled a few double shifts, doing Alpha and Beta duty shifts together.
"What I really need is a nice long bath," she grumbled to herself.
She rolled her neck, trying to work out some kinks, and did a few slow t'ai
chi movements.
Rogue headed into the suite's bathroom to run a nice hot bubble
bath...

The day started out as it usually did WIERD. We were proceding on course to
the southern region of the neutral zone when we picked up a distress call
from planet Ardana. We diverted our course and proceded to the planet. When
we arrived they said that there was no problem. The Cmdr thought it was
suspicious so he choose LtCmdrDoran to lead a small away team. She choose
Ahrele and myself and we beamed down to the planet. We met the governor and
he assured us it was all a misunderstanding. At one
point the LtCmdr seemed very ill but she said she was fine. Then the
governor touched me on my shoulder and thats the last thing I remember before
waking up in engineering with my uniform burnt from a phaser blast. I am
told that the away team was taken over by some sort of alien, unknown what
type, and that we attempted to take over the ship while they were fighting
Romulans. I am also told that I hypoed Ens Dave, now Ltj Dave, and knocked
him out, and that I shot Ens Katara, now LtjgKatara, with a
phaser and knocked her out. Ariell said that she finally stopped me after
firing a few phaser blasts at me, the alien must have made me pretty strong.
Many people were prompted, they all deserved it.

We encountered the Romulans today. It was suppose to be a peaceful delegation
with our "guest", as he was casually referred to, Ambassador Spock. He left
in a shuttle and was attacked. I saw it coming a mile away, of course... like

LTj Dave,
Engineering.
Main issue was, the Commander helped Spock to get with a shuttle to a peace
conference.
After the Loth was attacked and the Romulans wanted Spock we had to get that
shuttle back ASAP. We hardly got it - so everything is okay at last.
Besides the usual "Tractor beam, main phasers, transporter, warp engines off
line!!!", we could supply the stations with energy, even tho sometimes with
less than usual.
I'm getting more and more tired about that malfunctioning ship.
We should forget about it, sell it to the Ferengis and get us a new one,
where the engines and energy supplies doesn't break on every mission.
I have to report that there is a possibly High Danger in Engineering.
Whilst LT Mog was replacing something, I got no more information than
"+tap+ Dave, that will be avalible to you when I deem it nessisary!".
I want the Commander and Captain to take seriously care about this, cuz I can
not guarantee for the ship being in the best possible state without knowing
which circuit is broken.
This can be a question of life and death, and for today, I prefer life.
For this, I seriously request an interrogation or an order about this.

This is wrong,
it must not be "request an interrogation" but "request an intervention".
( Sorry, I'm still struggling with the language. )
If this again is the wrong word, what I mean is simply someone has to do
something so that Engineering works as a Team and not the lonely Rambo-style
way.
We all need lots of information during the missions, and we all need it very
fast, so if a device breaks, the ones in charge and/or the ones using this
device must get informed about what is malfunctioning.
I hope this is clearer now. If not, please someone let me know,

Lt Kevin1: Operations Officer, USS Lothlorien
Well, I returned from my two weeks of leave to find out that everything
was pretty much the way I left it with the exceptions of a few promotions. No
unusual system problems on the Lothlorien. She is indeed a fine ship.
However, we recently took on a pretty bad beating from the Romulans which I
believe will take us weeks to repair all of the damage. We lost warp power
for a considerable amount of time, something that should never happen. Just
an example of one of my many projects to work on. The
cloaking device seems to be handling really well. However, our auxilary and
emergency power and backup systems have a slow response time when called
upon. But then again I may still just be getting used to this ship. Hopefully
I get things running smoothly again.

DUTY LOG STARDATE 9608.11
::Damara is sitting at her desk in the Science Lab::
Computer, open duty log.
C> Computer log open.
As requested by FsLtAhrele, I have been in contact with the science vessel
that was assigned to investigate the aliens that invaded the planet Ardana
last week. The investigation has been very frustrating for them since they
can find no sign of the mysterious aliens. Nor do they have any idea what the
goal of the invasion was. Their final conclusion is that the Lothlorien's
discovery disrupted any plans the aliens may have had to conquer the planet.
Apparently, the aliens were unaware of the
sophisticated technology they would be up against. Since the Lothlorien was
able to conquer the aliens by fairly simple means (sleeping gas or phaser
blasts), the aliens must have retreated to wherever they came from. The
science vessel's report to Starfleet will reflect this fact and close the
file, at least for now.
As for other news, this Friday the Lothlorien had the honor of escorting
Ambassador Spock to what was hoped to be a peace conference with the
Romulans. Unfortunately, when the Ambassador left the Lothlorien in one of
our shuttles, he was attacked by a Romulan warbird. The Loth was able to
intervene, however, and rescue the Ambassador.
::Damara looks over at the tank containing the fish retrieved so far from the
Arboretum. She turns to her computer::
Currently, I am attempting to identify the fish that were brought back from
the Delta Quadrant. I have definitely determined that there are at least two
separate species -- possibly more -- since Ahrele and I haven't yet succeeded
in getting all the fish from the pond.
::Damara thinks back to that day in the Arboretum when she and Ahrele had
first tried to capture the remaining fish. She remembers how funny Ahrele had
looked soaked from head to foot. She smiles in spite of herself and then
chuckles when she recalls the equally funny vision of their Tamarian
commander trying to help Ahrele out of the pond and ending up in the mud
himself::
::She shakes her head:: %Shaka% ::and then realizes that the computer is
still recording::

Tonight we were to make our rendevous to drop off our mystery

honor to have escorted him this far. We sent him off in one of our shuttles
towards a Romulan peace conference, but some warbirds decloaked and fired at
us and the shuttle.
Somehow we got the Ambassador's shuttle back on board, but the
Ambassador was wounded. Currently he is undergoing treatment under Dr. Chid

Following a training mission which involoved Damara being "re-assimilated" by
the Borg I began to montiro her thought activity. She suffered from what I
would equivocate to stress and feelings of guilt and fear.
After monitoring her for a period of a few days I felt that it was necessary
to talk to her. She had reached a point that I wasnted to try to avoid her
staying in for long. She had falen into despair.
Damara doubted all of her actions, and began to think that she was a constant
danger to the crew. She expressed to me a feeling of satisfaction when she
was "Re-assimilated" by the Borg in the training mission. I have a feeling
that a lot of it has to do with the realism that the holodeck gives to its
participiants. I think that Damara's circuitry actually believed that she
was assimilated and part of the Collective.
I tried to convince Damara of her worth to the crew, and that no one hates
her because of the exercise. She expressed concern about the relationship
that she and Ahrele have. I told her that she shouldn't worry about Ahrele.
Later on I found out that Damara and Ahrele did talk. They now have things
settled between the two of them. I am sure that this will help Damara
progress back to how she was before the trating mission.
I think that the crew learned a valuable lesson from this exercise. I think
that different crew meembers are just a little too confident aobut their
abilities. I think that this exercise made us all realize just how easily
and quickly things can turn on us. It just happened that Damara was the tool
in that holosimulation.
What if it had been a real Borg attack? We need to prepare ourselves for
that event and make sure that we do everything in our power to prevent anyone
from taking another crew member off of our ship ever again.
I tried to tell Damara that she has amny friends here that would make sure
that it wouldn't happen again. Was it a test to see what Damara would do if
she were reassimilated? Was it a test to see where our weaknesses are or was
it just a test of our emotional reponses to losing one so dear to this crew.
No one can ever know, but the one who originally made the program and I am
sure that he will never tell. :-)

Yes I am actually.

I have returned to my quarters after a very unusual and fast paced shift. We
set a course for the Neutral Zone when my shift began. Commander Tnagra felt
it necessary to personally oversee the departure of our "guest". He left me
in command of the Bridge. In lieu of the Captain's and the second officer's
absences he made me acting first officer. This was an honor that I had not
anticipated.
A shuttle was equipped, per Tnagra's instructions by LT Josh, with 2 days
supplies for the guest to use. I was curious about who the guest could be
with all of the precautions that were being taken to assure our guests
safety. When the Commander, LT Rogue and the guest left the area that must
have had a dampening field around it I finally found out who it was.
Our guest was Ambassador Spock. I then understood why security was so
important to this mission. It also concerned me that we were just dropping
him off in a shuttle near the Neutral Zone. I could feel the tension in
Commander Tnagra, as well as in other crew members.
Our worst fears were realized when a Romulan Warbird decloaked and began to
attack the shuttle. We hastened to protect the shuttle by any means that we
could. Ambassador Spock was taken to sickbay. We fired multiple times on
the Warbird, but we still sustained some damage.
I tried to find out what was going on in Engineering, but was ignored. I am
still not sure yet why this happened. I received a response from Liuetenant
Junior Grade Dave, but I could not get a reply from Lieutenant Mog. This
distressed me. In a time of crisis I needed his constant communication, and
I received none.
During the battle Ahrele was knocked unconscious. I tended to some of the
wounded on the Bridge while Commander Tnagra commanded the Bridge. When he
left I again was placed in command. Ahrele was beamed to sickbay.
I was summoned to sickbay when Ahrele would not regain consciousness. A
short time after I got there she began to respond to me, and she woke up.
They detained her there for a few more hours for observation.
I noticed that Ambassador Spock was still in sickbay when I left. The
Commander was not taking any chances for his security. Anyone who did not
need to be in sickbay was quickly ushered out. There was a security guard
posted to the door when I left as well.

Engineering.
It makes little sense by now to write Duty Logs, since I'm working on TC all
the time.
If some of you would like to get involved in the discussions or receive a CC
when I ask about something, please let me know.
Those of you, who don't know what this TC thing is all about, there is a FAQ
(a paper with Frequently Asked Questions and their answers) about TC. Just
gimme a message and you got it.
Everybody is invited to give suggestions - but at this point it makes no
sense to write a log about which items are added or changed.
TC, the Talking Comp interface to our onboard computer, is designed to be a
kewl talker if you ask him. He will reply if you ask your panel "Do you
remember me ?". But everything that this buddy can is under discussion, so
everybody is more than welcome to ask and maybe give suggestions.

On our mission today I had an unexpected but was honored by the presence of
Ambassador Spock. We had been carrying him for a short while but all
information about who he was, was classified. Then while I was working in
sickbay I was called down to Shuttle Bay 2 and there I met him. He was in
perfect health as usual and was sent on his way. He was to negotiate with
the Romulans about our informal war, but the tried to kill him hitting his
shuttle. The Lothlorien went in and rescued him, he wasn't
badly injured just a few minor bruises and cuts, but it will be a few days
before he can proceed with his mission again. Also FsLtAriell has been
unconscious for the past several hours, I don't know why.

USS Lothlorien Operatrions Officer Log, Stardate 9608.17: Lt Kevin
As our encounter with Romulans started in a battle, it ended in a peace.
An agrrement with the Romulans was finally reached to change the size and
positon of the Nuetral Zone. Hopefully this will lower the number of negative
encounter we have the Romulans, and maybe this was the first step in a long
road to a peace with the Romulans.
Operations Center is funtioning with in normal parameters. Nothing
unusual of the sort to report in this log. Maybe we're finally getting the
repairs done on this ship that were needed. Despite her problems and her
unusually accident prone warp drive engines that seem to lose Ant matter
containment and go critical during every mission, the Lothlorien is indeed
one of the best ship in the United Space Federation. Even the new USS Stealth
which was christened this past week doesn't even come close to
measuring up to the same standards of the USS Lothlorien.

Today's mission proved to be a success. The Lothlorien delivered Ambassador
Spock to the peace conference without any major problems. The recent problems
with the warp drive engines seem to be resolved for now. Although I am
concerned with a radiation leak in the Jefferies Tube. That should never
have happened. A ship as well built as the Lothlorien should not be plagued
with these constant repairs. I am going to order a review of the entire
system. Engineering is going to examine this ship from top to
bottom.
I have promised the Commander that this ship will be operating at peak
efficiency, and that's exactly what is going to happen. Although Commander
Tnagra will now be leaving the Loth, I still intend to see to it that the
Lothlorien is one of the best ships in the United Space Federation.
I haven't seen any of those frogs lately, so hopefully they have all been
contained. I understand that FsLTAhrele has arranged to send them to various
zoos and research facilities around the Federation. This is probably a better
idea than some of the suggestions I've heard from the crew. Some want to eat
them and some want to keep them as pets! Given the fast reproduction rate of
these particular amphibians, I just don't think it's a good idea to keep them
on board the ship!

::Ariell is straightening her office after the days clients:: Enter. ::She
calls out still looking at the floor::
::Tnagra walks in when the door opens::
::Ariell looks up and turns around to see who is at the door:: Commander.
How nice to see you. What can I do for you?
Evening, Counselor. I wondered if you had a few minutes.
Yes of course. Please have a seat. ::She motions to the couch::
::He looks at the couch:: Perhaps we could get something to drink in 16F?
Yes. ::She looks at him curiously:: That would be fine. ::Ariell sets down
the items in her hand and walks towards the door::
::grimaces:: Good. ::waves his hand towards door::
::Ariell walks out into the hall::
::Tnagra follows her out::
Secure door.
::They walk towards 16F. Ariell is very curious as to why they are going
there in the first place. She looks briefly at the Commander and then back
forward again::
Counselor... (breaking the silence).
::Ariell stops briefly and looks at the Commander. She listens as he
speaks::
I wanted to discuss with you whether you had made any decisions about
applying for Command Training to become a Lieutenant Commander. ::keeps
walking::
::She is a bit taken off guard. She starts to walk again:: I had been
thinking about that a little sir. I was going to look for someone to assist
me in preparing for the test.
::They arrive at the door of 16F. They walk in. 16F is lightly occupied::
I just hadn't found anyone yet who would. ::Ariell and Tangra walk into
16F::
::Tnagra walks up to bar. He orders:: 2 Plumerian Fruit Juices ::gets

::Ariell continues to talk to Tnagra as they walk to their table:: I know
that my time is coming up soon sir, but I didn't want to go into the training
unprepared. ::Sits down::
::Tnagra hands Ariell one of the drinks::
Thank you. ::takes a sip of the PFJ:: ::She looks at it:: Interesting
drink. ::She takes another sip::
Well, I would be pleased to help train you for the test.
::Ariell looks up from her drink:: You would??
You seem surprised, Counselor?
Yes I guess I am. ::She fumbles to gather her thoughts::
::Tnagra watches her::
I thought that ..... I mean ..... I didn't think that you trusted me
anymore... Sir. :: She adds ::
::Tnagra snorts:: Counselor, I don't know why you had that impression.
::Ariell watches the Commander:: On one of our last missions you refused my
counsel sir.
::grimaces:: You advised that I should arrest 3 senior officers who were
acting funny?
::Ariell snickers:: It must have seemed odd sir. I just couldn't convey to
you what I was feeling from them. I knew that it had to be unnatural.
Next time, I'll just throw the entire senior staff in the brig and sort it
out later. ::grimaces::
::Ariell laughs out loud and then catches herself::
::Tnagra takes a swig of the PFJ. He can feel the rush of the wine flowing
through him::
::Ariell quickly looks around the room to make sure that no one is staring at
her::
Actually, counselor, I wanted to discuss something else, too.
::Ariell feels a change in the Commander:: Yes Commander.
I am concerned that the cold war with the Romulans is pushing the crew over
the edge. This is a very stressful time.
Yes it is. I have noticed an increased amount of stress in the crew,
including yourself. It does have me concerned. I know that things have been
difficult for you since you were left in charge of the ship at such a
volatile time.
::stretches neck:: I have felt it too. With Ambassador Spock on board, and
Captain Scott away....
But Commander, ::She interjects:: Your needs are just as important as
theirs.
::Tnagra again snorts:: #Shaka#
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
::Ariell knows the meaning of that word all too well. Ariell reaches her
hand across the table to his clawed hand:: You have to think of yourself as
well. ::Her counselor side takes over:: When was the last time that you
actually relaxed?
::Tnagra doesn't remove the counselor's hand. Instead he takes abother swig
with his free hand:: I forget. ::He can feel the tension flowing out of him
due to the effect that the PFJ is having on him::
Well then I would say that it is time for you to relax again. ::Ariell
realizes that this would be an opportune time to try to use persuassion on
the Commander. She knows what effect the wine is having on him::
::Tnagra drains the glass, and motions for another::
Why don't we take a stroll Tnagra. ::She tries to see if he allows the
further familiarity::
Certainly. ::waves off the bartender::
I think that a walk in the arboretum would be lovely right now.
The arboretum..... ::There is a slight cringe in his thoughts:: How about
the holodeck instead. ::Tnagra recalls the incident at the stream and starts
to feel a little itchy::
That would be even better Tnagra. ::Ariell gets up from the table. She
takes the Commander's hand and walks to the door::
::He follows alongside of Ariell::
::When they enter the turbolift Ariell stands next to Tnagra. She can feel
the wine and how it is affecting him slightly::
::When the turbolift doors open they exit the turbolift and head for the
holodeck::
Do you have a program in mind that you would like to use Tnagra?
No...do you have any suggestions?
Hmm. Do you like sunsets on the beach?
::He shrugs:: #Kahlin#
::Ariell looks at Tnagra. She realizes that she needs to recheck her list of
familiar Tamaraian phrases:: I don't think that I am familiar with that
phrase.
::Grimaces:: Sunset on the Beach would be fine. Sorry, Counselor. The Wine
must be affecting me.
::Ariell programs it into the holodeck:: Good. ::She hastens to correct
herself:: I mean that is alright Tnagra.
::The doors open to a beautiful grassy scenery with hills in the background::
::Tnagra enters::
::To the left the sound of water can be heard:: There is a lake over here.
::Tnagra looks around slowly::
Most of this is just like the spot that I relaxed at on Betazed near my home.
I love mountains so I added a few to this program.
::Tnagra nods still looking around::
::Ariell leads Tnagra over to the water:: I love the fresh smell of the lake
after it rains here.
::Tnagra follows close behind Ariell::
::Ariell leads him through a small batch of trees; Here it is.
::Tnagra inhales the scents of the beach::
::The vast lake can be seen in front of them:: Isn't it wonderful? It is
almost intoxicating.
::Tnagra hears the word intoxicating....sits down on the sand::
Are you alright Comm ... Tnagra? ::She sits down next to him::
I'm fine. I am just tired.
Here lean on me. We can just lay back here and watch the sunset. This spot
has a very nice view of many of the stars. I used to try to count them when
I was young. I dreamed of visiting each one in Starfleet.
::Tnagra lies back, resting his head on the sand::
You don't make very much time for yourself do you? ::Ariell looks at Tnagra
in a different way then she has before. He just seems so different here then
the person from the Bridge::
::Tnagra lays on the beach with his head resting in the sand and his eyes
closed::
::Ariell continues:: You have surprised me Tnagra, and not many things
surprise a telepath. You are not all that I thought you were. It is a shame
that I didn't notice it sooner.

::He hears Ariell through the fog of the first stages of sleep:: How so,
Counselor?
::Ariell senses an almost peace from Tnagra. She is glad that the wine and
the setting are finally allowing him to relax at least for now::
I always thought that you were. ::She stares at him:: I mean you always
seemed unapproachable, but then again you are my commanding officer. I dont
know. ::She pauses:: Please call me Ariell. ::She stumbles on:: Now I see
that it was just my own foolishness that didn't allow me to talk to you like
this sooner. ::Ariell looks up at the darkened evening sky. The sun has set
and the stars are begininning to shine::
Ariell.... ::His voice is soft::
::She looks back down at Tnagra:: Yes Tnagra..
You are not a fool.
I'm not. ::Ariell says softly::
Tnagra's breathing becomes slow and regular, his eyes closed, fast asleep on
the wet sand of the beach.

Sir,
I am requesting to take the Command Training courses and exams as we
discussed the other day. Please let me know when it is convenient for you to
assist me in this quest. If you have reconsidered your offer then please
feel free to witdraw your invitation to help. I will understand.
I would also like to suggest that you take an hour every day at least to
relax yourself. Even if you do not do something for fun you can still relax.
Use the hour to just get away from your daily duties. This could mean
reading and interesting PADD (NON Work related), a walk in the arboretum
perhaps, or even just soe socialization with the crew. You need to take some
time for yourself. You will be more of a hinderance to the crew when you
push yourself then a help.
I enjoyed our little talk the other night. I hope that I hear from you again
soon.

The Lothlorien received a message for Ambassaodr Spock while I was in charge
of the Bridge a few days ago. Shortly after I forwarded the message to the
Ambassador Tnagra ordered us back to the neutral zone and we were back off.
Upon nearing our destination we were joined by Captain Scott who happened to
be onboard a Romulan warbird. We were all quite surprised when the warbird
decloaked. I know that I was relieved to see that it was Scott and not a
trigger happy Romulan Commander.
The Lothlorien was escorted by the warbird and a convoy of other Romulan
attack vessels. A shuttle containing Ambassador Spock, Lieutenant Commander
Doran, Lieutenant Junior Grade Sierra and myself departed the Lothlorien to
head for the conference meeting place. Lieutenant Chid was beamed down later
to the planet when Commander Tnagra realized that we were in need of a
medical official other than myself. It was decided that I was to be there in
an advisory position for both the Captain and the
Ambassador.
While we were on the planet Starfleet advised us that Commander Tnagra was
being promoted to the rank of Captain. He is being given the command of the

SD 9608.18
I have just returned from a two day peace conference with the Romulans. I
was assigned to assist Captain Scott and Ambassador Spock in creating a peace
between the Romulans and the Federation. As it stands now it looks like a
possible goal.
Captain Scott agreed to move the neutral zone towards Federation Space by two
light years. The Romulan peace negotiator was at first reluctant to agree to
this. He wanted the neutral zone to be moved back five light years. The
Captain realized that too many Federation planets would be encompassed in
that five light year area. That was why he suggested only a two light year
move.
Captain Scott began to negotiate with the Romulan negotiator after Ambassador
Spock started to feel ill again. Spock still has not recovered from his
injuries when his shuttle was attacked by other Romulans on our way to the
conference to begin with. Ambassador Spock was beamed aboard the Lothlorien
after it appeared that he was food poisioned as well as all of his injuries.
Fortunately the conference itself went without further incident. I am
awaiting the captain's orders as to whether or not I need to return to the
planet for more meetings with all of the negotiators.
All information on the peace conference itself is regarded as confidential to
Starfleet.

Oh Well (Fleetwood Mac, 20th Century).
Have been working on TC for another 12 hours and gotta call it quits for now.
Many commands that are issued towards the computer are answered by TC now.
He replies as "COMPUTER>", "TC>", "TURBOLIFT>" etc.
The most difficult taks is to determine what carbon based lifeforms really
mean when using words like "cut out", "offline", "are back" etc.. Their
language is that messed up, compared to a real, strict logical computer, that
it sometimes seems to be a desperate job to keep up translating this to real
clear expressions.
So the fun stuff is no problem and I splitted the system up into 5 programs.
One will take care of the crew member's location (but to start, it only
covers the Lifts).
one is for easy talk and chat, one for alerts and the main one to determine
the status of our different devices.
It will look like this:
TC> Status at Mission Time: 00:13:55 Warbirds: YES Ship on RED ALERT.
TC> Shields: 70 % Transponder: ONLINE Hullbreeches : Deck(s) 23
TC> Weapons: AUXILIARY WarpEngine : DOWN ImpulseEngine: DOWN
TC> Energy : OKAY CloakingDevice: DOWN (Ship not cloaked)
To check it and correct or expand the program it needs a test run over the
logs.
And to be sure a correction doesn't produce another error (programmers will
know what I mean) you have to run the modified program over all logs to make
sure it works.
This takes terrible amounts of time, since I gotta read the log and check if
TC really understood what was going on.
Well, I can guarantee that typing "TC, status" will produce a sum-up like
above that is nearly everytime correct. In cases it is not, I can only point
to our WarpEngines, a device that's always broken as we all know.
But Engineering has prepared something that will keep us flying in the future
even with a broken Warp....
Okay, I've had it for now, more tomorrow and hopefully a demonstration before
the next mission on Friday EDT.

I have spent the last several days studying the results of the scans that I
have taken since entering Romulan space. The most interesting celestial
object that I have located has been a nebula located near the planet on which
Ambassador Spock has been conducting the peace talks.
The nebula is 4.37 AU's in diameter and consists of highly charged neutrino
particles. I would find a closer examination of this nebula fascinating and
a possible value to the Federation data base. I am currently correlating all
of the collected data for transfer to Memory Alpha.
Our ship is undergoing a major change of command. Commander Tnagra has been
promoted to the rank of captain and has been given the command of the USS

leaving the ship. Capt Scott has not told us who Starfleet is sending to

crew regarding this issue.

Unfortunately I fell asleep do to my lack of sleep, luckily a visiting LT

During this time I listened to what was said about the new peace treaty
being worked out with the Romulans. Ambassador Spock became ill and had to

was rotten. Luckily Captain Scott took Spcok's place and signed the peace

Due to the negotiations that still needed to be carried out Captain Scott had

none other than Captain Tnagra, he was going to take the ship to DS9 where he
would take a shuttle to his new ship the Darmok. I wish I could find out
information about it but it Starfleet Classified. I also note the some of
the crew needs to come in for their regular physical, but the crew members

they won't hide for long ::evil grin:: . On our way home we picked up a
distress call from a Romulan ship on their side of the NZ. We of course
proceeded to help them but when we got their most of their crew was already
dead. They all had aged considerably, I could not ascertain how. I was part
of a small AT when we beamed over we saw the same thing. I soon noticed that
the Romulans started disappearing, I stated that we should not stay here any

First I took TC apart and tried to get it together again.
It was necessary because the program got too big, and even tho well
structured, it's more simple to maintain an external routine than an internal
one.
I got no experiences so far about the changed answering speed.
This took 10 hours,
and then I checked loads of databases to find material about the newly
discussed limits of our universe. In detail it is the speed of light, that
nowadays tend to be defined as infinite, altho we know exactly its speed, but
if you change the space component you can of cuz come to the conclusion, that
the speed is infinite.
I found - and hoped for it BTW - some material about the subspace theory that
is what a warp drive makes possible at all.
This again took nearly 8 hours but now I got some highly interesting stuff I
only need to find the time to listen to.
I sent a memo to All, in case someone is interested in the scientific aspects
of our travels with the USS Lothlorien too.

"Computer, open duty log. Voice authorization CSO alpha 1.
Chief Science Officer's Log SD9608.27.
On our way out of the Romulan neutral zone to drop off Capt Tnagra at DS9,
the Lothlorien received a distress call from a Romulan ship inside Romulan
space. The transmission was garbled, but we could hear enough to know that
they were experiencing a warp core breach. I notified Capt Tangra and he
called for a conference of the senior officers to discuss options. In light
of humanitarian reasons as well as the new peace treaty between our peoples,
it was decided that we would indeed render aide to the
ship.
Upon arrival at the ship, an away team consisting of FstLt Ariell Johannson,
FstLt Damara, Dr. Chid and Ens Wusley beamed over to the ship to see what
they could do to assist the Romulans. Massive amounts of radiation were
coming from the Romulan's ship posing a health risk to the away team and the
Lothlorien. After beaming the away team over, we activatied the metaphasic
shields to protect the ship. Tactical and science sensors were tied in with
the away team's tricorders so that analysis of the
data could be done faster.
Analysis of the away team's tricorder readings indicated that the Romulan
crew was aging very quickly. Within minutes most were dead and there was no
indication why. Power levels of fhe Romulan ship's engines continued to drop
until they were at 0%. Energy readings onboard the Lothlorien began to drop
and it was decided that the away team needed to be beamed back and the
Lothlorien needed to leave the vicinity before we suffered the same fate as
the Romulan ship. A containment field was activatied
to protect the crew from possible exposure to something brought back by the
away team. Until we can determine what caused the aging process aboard the
Romulan ship, we must assume that the cause is possibly contagious and keep
the away team isolated.
Capt Tnagra attempted to engage the Lothlorien's engines after the retrieval
of the away team, only to discover that we too were dead in space. Energy
levels are at 0%.

The Loth received a distress call from a Romulan ship deep in the Neutral
Zone. Once we were there, I was order on an away team with Ariel, Chid and
Wusley. The first thing we noticed is that the Romulans had apparently aged
incredibly fast. I ran a diagnostics on their engines and found that their
power had been completely drained. My first thought was that something was
draining the energy both from the engines and from the people on board --
causing the advanced aging. I began searching for a source
-- whether mechanical or biological -- which could be siphoning off the
energy.
I had determined that the source was not on board the Romulan ship, and my
next thought was that the energy was being directed to the planet. However,
my investigation was interrupted when the Away Team was suddenly beamed back
to the Lothlorien. I can only assume that the Loth was suffering the same
power drain as the Romulan ship and the Captain decided to leave. While we
were on board the Romulan ship, I had tried to get a report from Engineering,
but apparently communications weren't working. As
soon as we returned, we discovered that a containment field had been
activated around us -- perhaps because they suspected that the aging was
caused by something that could be passed on to the crew.

Duty Log, about SD 9608,23.
Written on SD 9608,31, 0330 to 0645 Lothlorien Time.
LTj Dave,
Engineering,
Computer Systems.
The starting point of the mess:
At SD 9608,23,
a few moments after a questionable signed peace treaty, we were at the
Neutral Zone when we picked up a distress call from a Romulan Warbird on the
Romulan side of the Neutral Zone.
Nearby, a civilizated planet.
The Romulan ship had a warp core breech according to their distress call and
already effected us with their radiation.
The Romulan Captain asked us to evacuate the planet.
We raised the metaphysical shields and beamed over an Away Team, altho the
Romulan Captain asked for help about the planet and told the Away Team to get
outta the broken ship.
Nevertheless the AT stayed there and questioned the Romulan crew about the
cause of this disaster.
I've not succeeded in convincing them to leave. The Romulan Captain told our
team to leave too.
Meanwhile the Lothlorien's warp engines went slowly from green to yellow
altho I saw no extra load.
Finally the warp containment was at condition yellow. The energy got lost,
and I still have no evidence about the exact target in space-time where it
was sucked to.
I requested information from Science multiple times but still got no one.
The breached warp core engines of the Romulan ship of cuz didn't worked
anymore and their energy went down too.
So did ours, and we lost the shields.
Fact was, that some kind of energy got sucked up by somewhat.
No matter or mass disappeared on the USS Lothlorien, so it can't have been a
gravity problem.
The constantly loosing (drained) energy does not correlate to the accelerated
aging process of the Romulans and of our AT being at their space-time.
Since not every energy was drained (it would have included matter and the
constantly flowing energy that supply our ship's devices (from a TurboLift,
Transporter, or a panel) a filter must have controlled the flow.
Even tho I have no complete information, I assume, that the Lothlorien's
energy was routed in another way the Romulan energy disappeared.
The accelerated time around the Romulan ship is no explanation for the energy
loss.
The cause of the Romulan core breech is unknown.
Engineering tried to convince the Captain to get outta this place, but we had
no success.
I activated a containment field around the Engineering Dept. to have somewhat
safety.
The AT noticed that the Romulan crew not just died but disappeared.
Possible explanation:
The dying process was that fast, that they only seemed to disappear, but in
fact they putrefied.
But the way the accelerated aging was reported by our Away Team members
denies this, because the accelerated time must have been even more
accelerated.
So at the moment a Romulan disappeared, our members must have aged very very
fast. They don't look like that, so this theory is wrong.
Finally (far too late to my opinion at the mission) the AT was beamed back
and held in a containment field inside the Transporter room.
The point is, to my judgment, that the Romulan ship was at another space-time
than we were.
Around the Romulan ship, time seemed to be bended.
The Romulans aged much faster than we did, a process not known as an effect
due to radiation.
During the presence of the Away Team, the time of the Romulan crew (and
possibly their ship too) seemed to be quicker than ours.
The disappearance of Romulans could be caused by an even more accelerated
time, which would have killed our Away Team too (of would at least have
speeded up aging of the AT much more), if they had the same time the Romulans
had.
So the "accelerated time" was in effect for near to death Romulans only.
For this, a space-time disturbance can hardly be the cause, since there must
have been a separate disturbance at the space-time area of each dying
Romulan. This is too uncertain to be an explanation.
There is absolutely no relation between the USS Lothloriens energy loss and
the - maybe - bended time.
But

Written on SD 9608,31, 0330 to 0645 Lothlorien Time.
LTj Dave,
Engineering,
Computer Systems.
There is absolutely no relation between the USS Lothloriens energy loss and
the - maybe - bended time.
But since our energy loss got smaller, when we moved a bit more away from the
Romulan ship,
any explanation MUST FIT BOTH the aging process and disappearance of single
individuals at their unique places.
Conclusion:
If the area around the Romulan ship was in a space-time where time flows
quicker and accelerates, that means changing the "time speed" it must have
effected our Away Team much more than it did.
Since only parts of space or matter disappeared, this scenario must have been
controlled.
The only way to do this, is, to my opinion right now (with eyes falling down)
- a Holodeck.
The holodeck, better say area, well, this theory would explain the energy
loss onboard the USS Lothlorien, if this energy was rerouted to build up an
holographic image of a Romulan warbird.
The place where the energy was "stolen", must be very close to the reactors,
since otherwise the changed routing would have been monitored on my consoles.
If this is right, the one who build up the Romulan ship including the
sensations (in the philosophical meaning) our Away Team encountered, must
have tampered with my consoles in Engineering, so that my readings still
showed no energy problem.
This theory can be wrong, but it explains everything that we experienced.

Oh yes, that's right. Then make this a supplemental log.
C > Acknowledged.
Once the Away Team had beamed back to the Loth, we were held momentarily
within a containment field in order to determine if the mysterious aging was
somehow contagious. However, it was soon clear that the quarantine was not
necessary when others on the Lothlorien began to age as well. So the Captain
ordered the containment field to be released. Ariell began to experience
pains in her abdomen, but Chid was unconscious and therefore unable to take
care of her. As soon as Captain Scott realized this, he
came to the transporter room to help Ariell. Once he had examined her, he
announced that she was going to have a baby! I watched with amazement as
Ariell's stomach slowly started to get larger. Apparently, the aging process
had accelerated the growth of the fetus. Captain Scott helped Ariell to get
up and they left the transporter room to go to Sick Bay.
Meanwhile, I was having problems of my own. The mysterious energy drain had
finally begun to affect my Borg components. As I lost energy, my systems
began to shut down one by one and I was soon paralyzed on my left side. Much
to my surprise, (newly promoted) Captain Tnagra showed up in the transporter
room. I suggested we use a repulser beam to push us away from the Romulan
ship and perhaps get us far enough from the area to stop the power drain.
Tnagra relayed this information to the bridge and,
since I couldn't walk, he carried me back to the bridge. When we arrived, we
discovered that the repulser beam had not worked. Just like all the other
energy, the beam had been sucked into a vortex of some kind.
Lieutenant Dave suggested that we load a shuttle with anti-matter and send it
on auto pilot to the vortex. The resulting explosion would hopefully seal the
energy vortex. Lt. Feklhr attempted to pilot the shuttle but there was not
enough power for the shuttle to work. So Tnagra ordered me to beam Lt. Feklhr
with the antimatter to what was left of the Romulan ship. Fekhlr placed the
antimatter in strategic parts of the ship in timed devices set to explode. I
was able to beam him back just in time because
the explosions began almost immediately. I can only assume that the aging
process affected the timers and they caused the antimatter to explode
prematurely. Anyway, the antimatter explosion worked and the vortex was
sealed. The Lothlorien was able to achieve warp and we left the area
immediately.

Duty Log about SD 9608,30, starting at 21:22:09 Lothlorien Time.
LTj Dave,
Engineering,
Computer Systems.
I'm not feeling comfortable about writing this Log.
Not at all.
That's why it's delayed again.
Since this is a report to my superior officers, I need to state that the last
experiences effected my emotions, which is an unnormal state for me.
This is a Duty Log,
but I can not avoid to add personal statements, specially since Engineering
still has no complete explanation for everything what was going on.
I feel responsible for finding the explanation.
I'm thinking about possible explanations since we were up to warp velocity at
SD 9608,30, 22:15:36 Lothlorien Time.
I can't believe that it's in fact nearly 50 hours I'm thinking about it.
The search for a complete explanation has a higher priority to me as the Duty
Log, but after all, it had to be done.
LT1 Damara just left the lab, meaning the Engineering Department.
She's damned concerned about the dilithium crystals.
I didn't mentioned a thing about it. Maybe I should have. Dilithium Carbonate
is so harmless... D. Oxolate isn't just the right thing to use as a spice,
and the crystals, okay, a decay is inevitable when it controls the
matter/antimatter reaction, but our reactor readings are all okay. I see no
danger but she got more experience with this ship.
OKAY. So here we go.
We were still near to the dead Romulan Warbird, where obviously every Romulan
has died
or disappeared or simply left the holo scenario. The ship had no energy
anymore.
The USS Lothlorien's relative velocity was zero.
Our Away Team was still in a containment field in the transporter area.
TAC checked their status, so did I at the Engineering.
Our energy was low, but it would have been enough for one normal Impulse
start.
Since Damara was still in the containment field I could only communicate her
via combadge.
We both agreed the source the energy was drained to wasn't the Rom bird.
Again we agreed to get the ship outta this place, this time the Captain
agreed.
I begun to shut down everything that wasn't needed, whilst the Captain joined
the Away Team still in the transporter room, giving the Bridge to Captain
Tnagra.
TAC noticed in impact from a torpedo, but I didn't cared about it. I assumed
that I better trust myself only. Where the heck should this torpedo came from
???
Whilst shutting down the energy supply for decks that weren't in use, I
called around the entire ship to check if someone is in Sick Bay, but I
received no answer.
I called the acting Captain, no answer. Instead the holo Doc replied.
So I shut down the Doc, and could finally shut down deck 22. If I would have
gotten an answer we would have been at a point were we had 20% energy left
instead of 10%.
I shut down another deck, and erected a containment field around a hull area
that was reported to be weak.
The Rom. bird fell apart. It was reported as an explosion, but what energy on
that ship should cause an explosion ? Since TAC continued to report about
exploding torpedoes (ours !!) the nightmare was perfect. On the other hand it
was such a no-sense happening that it started to get boring.
Ariell gave birth to a kid or two and since Captain Scott took her to Sick
bay, I had to put this deck online again.
Immediately after that I reported we should start the Impulse engines and try
to get outta this area.
At this point Captain Tnagra left the Bridge and handed it to FsLt Ahrele.
Well, I was kinda [snip] off.
I set the weapons offline to have their standby power too.
At this point, Ahrele could activate the Impulse engines to try to accelerate
the ship.
I got no confirmation, besides a message that the ship didn't moved and the
energy disappears into space.
TAC was still busy deciding weather to rescue Feklhr or the torpedoes or
whatever and no news from the Bridge.
Now I've finally had it.

Now I've finally had it.
I took the TL to the Bridge. Fine thing that the TL knows where the Bridge
is, and the computer still worked perfect (well anyone any doubts ? <BG>) -
since I never was on the Bridge before.
Whilst on the way I rerouted my consoles to the Bridge via the combadge and
voice recogn system. Works fine.
Meanwhile Ariell was about to give birth to another babe and it was obviously
party time in the transporter room.
On the Bridge I immediately asked Ahrele about the Rom bird.
No answer in time so I asked about the reflector shield.
My ad hoc plan was to build up a reflector shield with 50% of our energy
around the Rom debris and to fire onto this shield to get a repulse effect.
At this time Captain Tnagra forwarded Damara's idea to use the tractor beam
in inverse mode, what would result in the same effect, but if it worked, with
more power.
My idea was to be on the safer side using as less energy as possible, so I
thought the very weak effect of firing would show if the reflector shield
worked at all for this kind of impulse technique.
I would have felt more comfortable if we at least move at all.
We didn't only had a relative velocity of zero, we had a communication near
to zero too.
Feklhr was firing before the shield was fully erected. I didn't believed in
it, but maybe Ahrele had already erected the field, so I asked her. I got no
answer and it wasn't clear weather we moved or not. Instead she told Feklhr
to use the tractor beam.
He activated it and it sucked into a vortex near the Rom debris. More energy
lost for nothing.
Finally Feklhr was willing to discuss the situation and after a minute or two
Ahrele asked for options.
I need to state that I can't work with this slow response time. I'm sorry to
say it, and I REALLY don't wanna hurt anybody, but during a disaster where
the entire ship with all crew was about to get destroyed (not just not
moving, we could as well got sucked into the vortex as well) folks must react
faster.
Later I found out that it was for technical reasons that we lost precious
time. This must change !!
The real me, the IN being, decided to stay in this human body and to stay on
this ship, so I'd prefer that everything works instead that I dematerialize
and go back to IN.
Life support was reported to fail on decks 16 to 18. I already shut down
these decks half an hour ago, since there was nobody and we needed energy -
so no need to interfere.
Feklhr made the suggestion to abandon ship - I disagreed because if we did,
we still were in the space-time where obviously everything was going nuts.
Ahrele agreed to close the vortex, whilst Fekhlr thought about calling
Starfleet for help (when the heck should they be here ?).
Now Captain Tnagra arrived on the Bridge, carrying Damara. She couldn't walk
cuz her Borg systems were offline. Oh well, good to have her on the Bridge !!
I explained my idea to load a shuttle as full as time allowed with antimatter
pods, then load up the shuttle itself to the maximum power (with the
shuttle's own energy) and put it on an autopilot course to the Romulan wreck.
I used this trick already at Earth time 1968 when I was on a ship held
captured in an energy field on Mura. It works real good.
I don't know why Feklhr wanted to pilot the shuttle, instead of using the
autopilot system. Maybe his Klingon temper ?
Captain Tnagra suggested to use the transporters to carry the antimatter to
what was left from the Romulan ship.
Again my thought was to use as less energy as possible, and the shuttle only

Captain Tnagra suggested to use the transporters to carry the antimatter to
what was left from the Romulan ship.
Again my thought was to use as less energy as possible, and the shuttle only
needed a small impulse to get to the Rom ship and maybe to the vortex simply
by gravity.
We were working on it when Captain Tnagra ordered us to use the transporter.
Damara locked the transporter whilst Feklhr tried to leave the Loth with the
- already filled - shuttle. Confusing, but in such a situation communication
can break down.
Suddenly, as of Captain Tnagra's order, Feklhr was beamed over with the
antimatter pods and Damara had a close eye on him. I can't say who of us hit
the buttons first, but we beamed him back - a few milliseconds before it was
too late. So Feklhr wasn't toast as he thought a second ago. (Altho I do like
toast.)
The antimatter collided, the vortex closed, our energy was back and raising.
We immediately got on full Impulse and then on Warp.
My hottest mission so far.

"We have concluded our rescue attempt of the Romulan vessel, unsuccessful in
saving any lives.
After returning from the Romulan ship, the away team was placed in a
containment field to determine if they had been contaiminated with a
contagious biogen. After scanning them thoroughly, I detected no such
hazaard and recommended that they be released.
The power drain continued on the Lothlorien and despite the fact that
engineering said that our engines were generating power, the power was being
drained by the vortex off the Romulan ship's stern, and the Loth was unable
to move. We attempted to use a repulser beam to push off of the remains of
the Romulan vessel, but this proved unsuccessful. The beam was pulled into
the vortex.
The recommendation was made to close the vortex using antimatter. Feklhr
volunteered to deliver the antimatter via shuttle but attempts to launch the
shuttle failed. It too suffered from a power loss.
Lt. Feklhr was transported to the Romulan ship with the antimatter, he was
brought back right as the explasion occurred. The explasion closed the
vortex and power immediately began returning to the Lothlorien. This allowed
us to make a hasty departure. We are currently enroute back to Federation
space to deliver Capt Tnagra to DS9.
Capt Scott announced to the crew tonight that he is taking a leave of absence
from Starfleet. The Lothlorien will be getting a new captain. We are
currently waiting for our new XO as well.
I can sense increased tension from the crew. Many officers are unsure of how
this change of command is going to affect them. I will do what I can to help
make this transition period as smooth as possible.

SD 9608.23
The peace conference has ended. The Ambassador and myself are back onboard.
Captain Scott stayed behind to finalize and notorize all of the peace treaty
documents. He is expected to rendezvous with the ship at our coordinates.
What are our coordinates you ask? Well we were on our way to drop off
Captain Tnagra at Deep Space Nine. He was supposed to be taking a transport
from there to his new ship. We took a slight detour back to the Neutral Zone
though.
The Lothlorien received a distress call from a Romulan ship near the border.
After a meeting of the senior officers, it was agreed that we should indeed
offer our assitance to the ship. I think that we were all hoping tha this
action would seal a better trust and relationship with the Romulans. This
plan backfired on us.
When we arrived at the ship and Away Team was sent over. Doctor Chid, Ensign
Wusley, First Lieutenant Engineer Damara, and myself beamed over to the
Romulan ship. We were greeted by some extrememly aged Romulans. Their
captain kept muttering something about it being too late for them.
Damara headed to their engineering to check the engines and find out what
disabled them. Chid tried to tend to the wounded and sick, while I sent
Wusley to try to find a cause for the aging. Our visit was cut short because
of the rapid aging of the crew. It was the general concensus of the Away
Team that we needed to get off of the ship.
We were finally beamed back to the Lothlorien after some difficulty in
beaming us back. When we arrived on the transporter pad we were greeted by a
containment field that we were not allowed to get past. The crew probably
fears that this aging process is caused by a contagion. If so, releasing us
would be a risk to the crew. SO, we are stuck here on the pad, hoping that
our fellow crew members will indeed find a reason for the process so that we
can be released.

SD 9608.30
The away team and I were being held by a containment field in the transporter
room. When It was decided by Captain Scott and Captain Tnagra that we were
not carrying any type of contagion, the field was released.
That was when everything seemed to go wrong for the away team members.
Whatever aging process and energy drain that had been affecting both sides
began to effect us as well. Damara began to feel a major drain on her
systems, and I went into labor. (See personal log)
Captain Scott came immediately down to the transporter room and helped me
into sickbay. He treated the labor pains and helped to deliver my twins (see
personal log)
The ship was constantly suffering from power losses and system shutdowns.
Eventually we were able to exit the area. I do not even know how. All I
know is that we finally made it away from the area and our lives went back to
normal for most of the crew.
I don't know much more than that. I was very busy in sickbay trying to gain
control of a situation that I could not have any control over.

Rogue walked back to her quarters after the promotion ceremony and party in
the forward lounge. She had wanted to stop in the arboretum, too, to see how
that was coming along, but for now she was tired.
She entered her quarters. "Computer, lights, dim setting." The lights came up
softly. Rogue still felt a little off-center about being back. All these
changes! "Computer, play..." she thought about it for a moment, "Marlene

Chief of Security, duty log
Whewww.... it's been a whirlwind these past couple of days. I was happy to
see Scott and Tnagra again, albeit briefly.
USF Ryan will be taking command of the ship. I understand that he last served
on the Odyssey... or is it the Stealth? Oh well. I'm looking forward to
working with him, he seems like a very direct and forthright person. And...
he brought aboard his captain's fighter. I like to see a captain who's
involved in the action.
The Lothlorien has been slightly modified, including upgrades to our
tactical/weapons banks, and the additions of three fighters.
:::grins at the thought of getting behind the piloting controls of one of the

We had a rather large promotion ceremony this evening. Ahrele and Ariell were
both promoted to Lieutenant Commanders. Ariell was also named as Second
Officer. Chid, Feklhr and myself were granted the rank of First Lieutenant,
and I was also moved up to Chief of Security, now that J'Lena is gone. Ltjg
Wolfe was moved up to be my Assistant Chief of Security.
I am happy to have my promotions, and glad to see that Wolfe will be my
second-in-command. She has done a good job in security and works hard. I hope
that I will live up to our new Captain's expectations in my department.

Computer, open duty log for LT1 Damara.
C > Acknowledged.
Today there were several officers on the Lothlorien who received promotions.
Ahrele became a Lieutenant Commander and, as far as I am concerned, it is a
well deserved promotion. Her sister, Ariell also was promoted to Lieutenant
Commander. She was also named as Second Officer. However, this promotion may
be bittersweet for her because she has recently given birth and there is
apparently a problem with the young ones' growth. Because of their premature
birth, they are in danger of terminating. I have
sent a memorandum to Ariell offering my services. I hope to be able to
devise some equipment which will accelerate the young ones' growth at least
enough so that they are no longer in danger of terminating.
Those were not the only two promotions, however. Dr. Chid was promoted to
First Lieutenant as well our tactical officer, Feklhr. Lieutenant Rogue was
given a promotion to First Lieutenant as well as assigned as Chief of
Security and Lieutenant Wolfe became Assistant Chief of Security.
These promotions were the last official act of Captain Scott and Captain
Tnagra as commanders of the Lothlorien. As I've noted in my earlier logs,
Captain Tnagra has been assigned to a new ship, the U.S.S. Darmok, and he
left today to begin his new command. Captain Scott is also leaving the
Lothlorien. He announced today that he will be returning to Starfleet Academy
to take some classes, although he was not specific about which classes he
will be taking. Before leaving, he turned command of the
Lothlorien over to Captain Ryan.
Our new Captain has already begun to make changes to this ship. He has
ordered upgrades of the weapons, engines, and shields. Needless to say, this
will keep the Engineering Department very busy!

INTERSHIP MEMORANDUM
-----------------------------------------------
TO: Lieutenant Commander Ariell
FROM: First Lieutenant Damara
It has come to my attention that you have recently given birth to two young
ones. I have also been told that because of their premature birth, caused by
the energy vortex we recently encountered, that they are in danger of
terminating. I would like to offer my services in this matter. Because of
my, shall we say, "unique" heritage I may be able to devise a system that
will hopefully increase the rate of maturation for your young ones.
I will make no guarantees, but I do know that such a system is possible. The
Borg have routinely accelerated the growth of their offspring for decades.
Unfortunately, because I am no longer connected to the Collective, the exact
specifications for the equipment is not known to me. But I do have a general
idea of the process.
If you are willing, I would like to try to modify their incubators
accordingly. Before I do anything with the young ones, I will, of course, use
the modified equipment on laboratory animals in order to ensure the safety of
the process.
Please let me know as soon as possible if you are interested in trying this
procedure.

First I was busy answering messages for 3 (in words: three) hours.
Gosh - the USS Lothlorien is really "a ship that never sleeps".
(Maybe a proposual for the "Bridge Plaque Dedication: There will be an
answer, let it be ..." ?)
One of these messages was a wish from LCdr Ariell, about having a look at her
babies from her quarters and her office.
Altho folks might be wondering, I like those task when "feelings meet HiTec".
For this, I installed a camera and an additional router at Sick Bay at
SD 9609,07, 18:00 Lothlorien Time.
Cuz some folks might feel uncomfortable when I fool around with there stuff
or
even do some work at their places, I activated a trace, so the Log is
attached.
I couldn't get hold of Ariell to let me in to her office and quarters to
place
the monitors there - but this can be done quickly, "Plug'n'Play" .. <BG>.
I proceeded with getting familiar to our new M-13-C Bio-Neural Duotronics
Main Computer.
There will be no problems cuz it is totally downwards compatible with the old
model.
But of cuz I want to take the advantages to speed up some tings, including
our virtual
crewmember TC.
BTW, before I forget, I got a request from someone from another ship about
TC.
I didn't told him anything, besides that this project is classified.
Around 2100, whilst "fooling around" with a subsystem I was about to tune, it
crashed.
No other systems were involved, since the backup system immediately
responded.
But this damned crash took me 12 hours til SD9609,08, 0339 Loth Time.
I think I better take a nap and continue afterwards.

Tonight, I witnessed something I didn't think I'd see for a long time.
Captain Scott formally handed over the Lothlorien to Captain Ryan. I will
miss the Captain, but change is always necessary. After his lengthy speech, a
long promotion ceremony followed adding further confusion to the ships
already uncertain chain of command. 1st Lt. Ariell as well as 1st Lt. Ahrele
were both promoted to Lt. Commanders, Lt. Rogue was promoted to Chief of
Security, not to mention 1st Lt., Lt. Feklhr was promoted to 1st
Lt. as was Lt. Chid. I was also promoted, though not formally, to Asst.
Chief of Security. I only hope I can live up to everything Rogue expects of
me. After the ceremony we went to 16 forward to have some drinks. I had had
a bit too much coffee before the whole thing, ::frowns:: because I was afraid
I would fall asleep in the middle due to my unusual sleeplessness lately.
Well, anyway I was doped up on caffeine, and those damn drinks that I had
just made it worse. Synthahol never did sit right in my
stomach, which is one of the many reasons I don't drink, but hey, it was a
special occasion. So everyone talked, Feklhr and Chid played chess. Then they
got into a fight. I'm okay with a little roughhousing, but when it got worse,
I decided to go break it up. I had to pull them off each other to stop it.
Well, that was my excitement for the night.

Okay, back on Duty again and the day starts fine.
Well, it's 1910 my time, but 1310 Loth Time.
Fine, cuz Ariell just called and authorized me to open her doors, to set
up the monitors. I need a working relationship to those I'm in contact with.
But first I checked the crashed subsystem in the normal way, cuz I was still
too sleepy to walk around and carrying them damned heavy weighted old
type monitors. Working on this kinda stuff gets me awake. Yeah.
The integrity security feature I added works real good.
I will add this to every system I work on.
Second I checked the system "the brutal way".
I found some obsolete routines I deleted and changed the calling main task
accordingly.
Then I added and tweaked another data security feature.
This works that great that I added it to all systems I use.
I think that everybody should add these two things.
I'll wrote an INTERSHIP MEMO about it.
Then I carried the two monitors for Ariell to her office.
(They are supposed to let her have a view at her babies and the readings
regarding them.)
Well, that's done, and I worked on TC to speed him up.
I prepared the subsystem for him very careful, to ensure he gets more
power.
Meanwhile our Captain requested the CMOS security feature I offered
in my INTERSHIP MEMO - and I hope he got it running okay.
That man is real quick. He wanted to install it himself, and I got
no answer till now whether it's okay or not. Would like to know it.
Whilst still busy with TC I got a request from TAC, LT Josh.
His program to adjust the shield's frequency is less accurate when there
are gamma rays.
That's quite normal, the only help is to have more computing power.
I allowed him to open a separate virtual machine on our M-13-C to get this
power.
Hope to read about the results soon, this is a very ** interesting topic **
Josh
is about to explore.

Captain Scott and Captain Tnagra relinquished command to Captain Ryan. We
were informed by Captain Ryan that his XO will be coming along shortly. We
are waiting to see who exactly it is going to be. It has been rumored that
it will be someone named Neil.
After the ceremony, Tnagra and Scott boarded a shuttle together and left the

a get to know party. Introduced myself to Captain Ryan and offered my
