Carova looked around at the ancient bridge of the vessel that He,First
Lieutenant Ryan and Mister Sandavol had beemed over to. The tricorders had
estimated, by the use of carbon dating, that the bridge was at least 500
years old. Carova was both impressed and intrgued by this find. But he
wondered why it was traveling the path it had chosen. Not yet able to find
the answer he waited patiently while Aegis worked her
computer magic to try to get hold of this vessel and maybe find the answers
they were looking for. Carova resided to a corner using the video record
option on the tricorder to take a log.
Duty Log
Commander Carova Devarough
XO Kemo Sabay
NCC 9765
SD9805.12
First Lieutenant Ryan and myself are current on the bridge, the
lieutenant is making headway. Hopefully it wont be long before she can break
into the system and we can get control of this vessel. Mister Sandavol has
beemed back to the Kemo to the sickbay with a life form. I am stilling
waiting for his return and update on his find.
First Lieutenant Ryan was attacked already when she first tried to enter
the system, fortunately the defense mechanism..a metallic round ball was not
fully charged and only delivered a mild shock to the Lieutenant. I can only
hope that all the defenses are not fully charged and there is no real danger
here. But we are still taking precautions and staying more alert to our
surroundings.
Upon Mister Sandoval's return I will dispatch him to the engineering
section of this vessel and hopefully if First Lieutenant Ryan is unable to
break into the the computer fully that Mister Sandoval can find a way to
deter this ship from its current course.

Captain's Log SD9805.24
The Kemo Sabay remains near Vulcan after intercepting a ship that was on its
way to the peaceful planet. The ship appears to be automated, though there
have been conflicting reports about lifeforms aboard. An away team is aboard
and is attempting to disarm the vessel before it decides to take shots at
someone with something other reduced power. I am awaiting a report from
sickbay in regards to Marcus Sandoval beaming back from the alien ship. I
am uncertain as to whether he was injured or if he beamed back with another
injured individual.
We have left a small search team back on Vulcan to continue the search for
LCdr Jack Ryan. He disappeared down an old lava tube after helping to seach
for the missing section of the Guardian artifact. I am hopeful that since
the volcano is now dormant, he will be found with relative ease and the team
will be ready to beam back to the Kemo upon our return to the planet.

as I could tell, completely sane.
I first reported to the bridge "::takes the plate of gagh and the mug of

ordered by the captain to go to sickbay and use the help of the doctor,
Lieutenant (Junior Grade) T’Kul, to find the commmander.
When I arrived at sickbay, I exchanged brief pleasantries with the doc, and
then set out (with the doc) in finding the commander. When we left sickbay,
T’Kul asked the computer where Ryan was, and, replying in it’s emotionless
voice, said the Science Labratory. The two of us proceeded down the hall,
across the decks, and made our way to the Lab. We arrived a short time later
to find that not only was the commander not in the lab, but that he had
placed his comm badge in the lab to, basically, make our job a whole lot
harder.
So, the doc and I were… "::takes a forkful of gagh and puts it in his

ship, when I was suddenly hailed by the captain, who informed me that someone
had activated the cargo transporter in the Carbo Bay. I said goodbye to the
doc and headed, at a brisk pace, to the Cargo Bay.
I arrived at the cargo bay to find it empty, but I knew that he must have
slipped up somewhere. So, I proceeded to look around the CB, when I couldn’t
find anything, I hailed the captain and informed her of my situation. She
then asked… ::thinks for a moment::… no, she ordered me to check the
transporter and see what coordinates he had beamed down to. I checked, and
saw that Ryan had beamed onto the planet, the northern continent.
I was then told by the captain to take a security detail to the planet and
retrieve the commander, I beamed down and immediately saw an entrance to a
cave. So, I walked over to the entrance and walked in. After walking a few
meters inside, I spotted a figure, it turned out to be the Commander. I was a
bit wary at first, but after I reported in and informed the captain, I felt
alright.
The commander was very cooperative, and beamed up with me. I had been ordered
to beam directly to sick bay, so, I did as was told. When we (the commander
and I) rematerialized in sickbay, I thought everything would be okay. I was
wrong.
In a nutshell, the commander tried to escape, well he DID escape from
sickbay, but did not achieve in getting very far from it. The doc and I,
reunited in a sort of way, gave pursuit. Although the doc was much faster
than I, she did not take the commander down. She probaly would have if she
was carrying a sidearm, luckily, I was carrying my phaser, and shot the

We have successfully retrieved L Cdr., JP, from Vulcan, alldough he seems to
be in good physical condition, I am concerned about his mental state, I have
asked him to report to SB for some tests but I have been unsuccessful. I have
reported my concerns to the Capt. recommending that she order jack into SB at
once. ::::notices Ens. Sergei entering SB::: Computer pause
Log-----------------------
::walks to her desk:: computer resume Log, SD
9806.04---------------------------------
Ens. Sergei and I were ordered to look for L. Cdr., JP, whom to my surprise
was not acknowledging the capt's orders to report to SB, I prompted the ships
computer to give me his exact location and the reply was "the Lab ," although
for some reason, perhaps because I had seen and assessed him minutes before I
suspected he would not be there.
As Ens Sergei and I approached the Lab, entered, we were not too surprised to
see that Jack was not there, and not only that but that his state of mind was
set to deceive us by leaving his com badge on his desk. At this time Ens.
Sergei was summoned to the cargo bay where the computer had detected an
unauthorized transport to Vulcan, we then parted ways due to an emergency
medical transport I had to take care off.
As I barged in SB, I noticed Marcus had placed the patients on Bio beds and
had activated the E. L. S. S. he turned to me with a look of relief as I
entered the room, he then left to carry on with his orders.
I immediately started to scan the "beings" and found that their organic
composition was rather unique and was found in our M. Database, I proceeded
to take blood and tissue samples to run them through the universal M.
Database when the Capt arrived at SB concerned about the origin and status of
our patients and recommended me to run the samples through the Vulcan M.
Database, which I immediately did and came across With very interesting data,
I wasabout to report my finding to the capt. when I heard her ordering Ens.
Sergei to beam up with L Cdr., JP, directly to sick bay and seconds later
watched as they materialized right in front of my desk. I prepared the Hypo
with a mild tranquilizer as fast as I could, because somehow I had a hunch
that Jack was not about to take it mildly, and I was right he just waved at
me and left the room ignoring the Capts orders to remain, and headed off down
thehall towards the Lab. I immediately pursued him Hypo in hand, but this
only caused him to start running, Ens Sergei pursued him as well phaser in
hand set on stun, I did manage to catch up with him, but never got him to
stop until I saw him drop, flat on his face under the effects of the phaser
stun "prescribed" by Ens. Sergei.
We both then carried him into SB, and placed him on a bio bed, and as I
looked at him unconscious, couldn't but wonder what inner drive had taken
over him that provoked this fascination over these beings he had interacted
with in Vulcan, I shall study the data extensively, to try and figure out how
these "Vulcans"no longer beings, thanks to the information on the dBASE,
became or have been or were so different organically as to the present
populationof Vulcan.

The Atmosphere in the escape pod occupied by Ens. Nava, Lt. Sergei and
myself was rather gloomy, it had not been easy for any of us three to see the
destruction of our ship, our home for so many months. What a noble vessel
she was, and at last brought us back home.
It was rather quiet in the pod, just light talk about the what's and why's of
the recent events, even though he didn't mention it, I could see in Lt.
Sergei's face the worry and agony of not knowing if Jack had made it to a
Pod, there had been some mention of it, how he went back to the bridge to
engage propulsion systems to put the ship as far away as possible From the
escape pods to keep us safe from the warp core breech, but as we mentioned it
Nava couldn't help herself and showed signs of guilt as she mentioned she had
the opportunity to do exactly that before she left her station, but
everything had happened so fast, and Capt. Trista so insistent, that her
bridge crew complied with her evacuation orders on the double, she had no
time to think about It, in fact, she added, it did not occur to her to do
so.
Although we assured her, Jack would be fine, that certainly he'd made it to
his pod, the expression of guilt in her face did not minimize.
The three of us from time to time would look out the small view port in
search of the other escape pods floating in space, in hopes that somehow,
some way we could confirm each others doubts, such as, on my part if any one
was in need of medical assistance, what about the crew in engineering, if
they made it out? were they injured? and here I was, watching with the
necessary emergency equipment that I had taken from SB with me, for what? At
this
point it was useless, why did I even bother taking it in the first place.
The conversation between us three was short and painful, the Vulcan in me
kept me calm and gave me the ability to supply my pod-mates with logical
conclusions that at the time were difficult to grasp.
We had no idea if our distress call had been reached by anyone, it was
logical to assume that someone would have received it, but at this point
after 36 hours, and with our comm systems down we were starting to face the
possibility that we would not be reached in time.

the shuttle turned left, encircling the great vessel, the crew in unison
sighed as they read... USS Kemo Sabay NCC 9765-A. As the crew arrived at the

SD9902.03
The new layout in the Sick Bay had Tasha fascinated, she had felt a bit of
anticipation performing the routine physicals to the last crewmen who had
reported as ordered. She looked in her PADD to make certain all crewmembers
were accounted for, she rose her brow when she realized that, with scarce
time before the launch, there had been no word from StarFleet as to who would
be commanding the vessel, and furthermore, had not reported in for their
physical or quarter assignments. Setting down the PADD on her desk, she
walked around the sick bay with her hands behind her back, she nodded
slightly at the nurse who kept herself busy at her station uploading all the
information on the crew in the medical database. Tasha completed her survey
of the "very modified" infirmary, then headed back to her office to take a
look at the EMH program StarFleet had downloaded on this new vessel. After
carefully
considering the program she decided she would make a few modifications. She
sat at her console "Computer access EMH program protocols" Tasha's brows
raised as she heard the computer's reply "Please enter security clearance
code" "Chief medical officer Lt. Juana Anastasia T'Kul 657 gamma echo" she
responded as her fingers tapped away on the pad, she knew exactly what she
needed to modify, she had heard about it, on different ships, and from enough
crewmembers. She decided that this program would not only be considered
efficient, but friendly and with great bedside manners. She then stopped for
a second to consider if she was the ideal person to make these modifications,
but after a few minutes of thought, she continued with her work.

Tasha took the cup of tea from Nurse Monroe, thanked her and headed back into
her office, where she heavily sat back down on her chair. " Computer,
initiate log recording" as she sat back on her chair and sipped on her tea,
the all too familiar computer response was heard, " Recording in process, you
may begin when ready" She set the cup down next to her console, and glanced
over to where Nurse Monroe and the EMH who will now be
referred to as Dr. Yazji were interacting or rehearsing his modified
programming. She couldn't make out what the words were, but just by the look
on Nurse Monroe's face, she knew that Dr. Yazji would be needing some further
adjustments. She then turned back to her console and initiated her log.
"After receiving our XO Commander Carova and completing a routine physical
and finding out at last who will be commanding this vessel, I took it upon
myself
to make a few modifications on the EMH program, which I report with some
amount of worry, that the task has been a resourceful one. I have asked Nurse
Monroe to assist in the modifications, but it seems that the more I modify
him, he becomes more independent in his choice for programmed responses, this
was not the original intent, but it seems that this particular program has
the ability to retain its memory, even though you delete the information,
and to make matters worse, He utilizes the new enhanced information, to his
own benefit, it sort of seems that he has a "personality" of its own. For now
he has selected his own name, Dr. Monzer Yazji and he has worked around the
activation process in a way that he has the ability to activate and
deactivate himself at leisure. I have found it a little unsettling the fact
that he feels that all the medical personnel are intruding in "his" sick bay,
but I have confidence that with a little more work, he will not only be a
great EMH but a CMA as well if needed. On the other hand, I have been
informed that our new Captain will be boarding soon, I'll be looking forward
to seeing her again, as I did Commander Carova, and performing an extensive
physical upon her before she reports to her bridge.

With Commander Carova onboard, all departments were busy getting ready for
the Kemo's departure. Captain Trista was asked to report to the Klingon

ship preparations and modifications for this mission, he noticed the ship had
two different sets of warp core assemblies, he got engineering working on it.
He left the installation and Calibration of the Klingon
sensor arrays in the expert hands of Lt. Sandoval and Ltjg ShiAr. As he
headed back to the bridge he couldn't help but feel confident, knowing that
the Kemo would be ready for her scheduled launching in two hours. At the
bridge Ens. Nava reported all systems functioning within normal parameters.
He sat down on the command chair and looked at his chronometer. He sighed
with anticipation as he stared at the blank main view screen. He couldn't
help but
wonder, as he waited for Capt. Trista's arrival, what new adventure this
mission would bring.

"Computer, open Duty Log" said ShiAr, as she sat down in front of her
console. She set down her cup of fragrant Vulcan tea.
"Log accessed, proceed when ready" replied the computer.
Our departure from the Martian dock has been delayed due to a glitch in our
sensor arrays. We have ordered some special equipment from our Klingon
contacts and it arrived with a slight delay. I was ordered by Lt Sandoval to
notify him as soon as the shipment arrived.
The Klingon shipment arrived at 2130 hrs. Ensign O'Maley and I proceeded to
take it to Stellar Cartography (after a short 'tete-a-tete" with the delivery
boys from the empire). We have installed the new sensors, and they are on
line and operational. The next step is to perform a full range diagnostic,
and align the array with the ship's standard sensor grid. The sum of both
systems will be of great value on our future missions.
We have not yet met our Commanding Officers. We do know that we are to be
commanded by Capt. H. Trista and Cmdr. Carova.
End log.
ShiAr finished her beverage and disposed of the cup. Then she picked up her
multi-phasial catalytic space modulator and headed towards the new sensor
array. They had to be ready before their commanding officers arrived and
gave the order to launch.

Reporting: Lt. Tasha T'Kul
The USS Kemo Sabay is ready to launch, all department heads have reported,
all systems operational and functioning at 100%. The crew has been summoned
to shuttle bay 2, where the Captain's yacht has docked. As she disembarked,
she stood in front of her crew and briefed them on the upcoming mission. "My
name is Capt. Tristoncia Habrandona. This vessel is about to take part in a
historic joint scientific investigation with The Klingon Empire on SD
9901.22. A strange anomaly appeared near the border of the Beta quadrant.
Several ships from both the Federation and the Klingon Empire were dispatched
to investigate, because of its location, it has been decided that both, the
Federation and the Klingons will have equal opportunity to investigate this
phenomena. The Kemo Sabay has been selected to lead the investigation, our
state-of-the-art equipment supplemented with the equipment we received from
the Klingons, makes us the perfect ship for this mission." With this she
ended her briefing, and ordered all departments to prepare for launch. The
Kemo Sabay is now on her way to join forces in an unholy alliance, to find
the source of this mysterious anomaly. The adventure is only beginning.

Lt. Tasha T'Kul
Tasha sat at her desk rather pensive, after she and Nurse Monroe reassembled
the layout in Sick Bay, after Dr. Yazji the very advanced and modified EMH
had taken it upon himself to make "a few" changes to suit his liking. She was
now certain at this point that the modifications she had performed, had not
been very assertive, and the point now, she realized, that it was futile to
try and delete them from his program, due to his very advanced ability
to retain the data. It had become somewhat of a challenge to Tasha to try and
obtain from this new model, the personal attributes that she had hoped for,
but as it was turning out, she would have a very "independent" EMH program,
that would have the ability to activate and deactivate as he deemed prudent,
in which case, could prove most efficient.
"Computer initiate duty log recording" just as the computers familiar
response could be heard, Tasha was interrupted by a crashing sound that came
from the Intensive Care Unit. Tasha rose quickly and headed to that area of
the infirmary, to find Dr. Yazji arguing with Nurse Monroe. "Nurse Monroe,
could you explain to me what is going on?" she asked as she approached them.
" Oh Dr. Vulcan, I am happy to see you, I need you to tell this :: turns to
face Monroe:: nurse, to let me arrange my sick bay the way I think will work
most efficiently." Tasha, walked over and leaned down to help Monroe with the
surgical support frame that had fallen on the floor, and as they both set it
back up on the bio bed, she turned to face Dr. Yazji. :: smiling falsely::
Dear Dr. Yazji, how good to see you as well, I am glad to see you are using
your abilities to activate and deactivate at your leisure. Now,
regarding the arrangements here in sick bay, I'll have to ask you to please
do not, and let me rephrase that for you, DO NOT, make any changes to the
layout or distribution, and that my dear Dr. ::smiles again:: is an order.
The Dr. did not take that order smoothly, he looked astonished, " Well, if
you think that my knowledge and the experience and the expertise of thousands
of eminent physicians contained in my database are not sufficient to be
considered, in a time like this, when I say that it would be best to
rearrange some of the hardware in this infirmary ... then.. you must not be
as good a Dr. as I had thought you were, so..if you will excuse me. Computer,

back to her office to finish her duty log.

"First Contact"
SD 9902.24
Lt. Tasha T'Kul
"If Spock were here, he'd say that I was an irrational, illogical human being
for going on this mission ... sounds like fun!" James T. Kirk
The USS Kemo Sabay was nearing Q'Nos, and she was brought into standard orbit
by Ltjg Nava, where the away team, composed by; Comdr. Carova, Lt. Sandoval,
LtjgShiAr, and Ltjg Fer'ran beamed down to meet with the Klingon delegates at
Q'Nos. Chalok, met with the away team and briefed them on the new
developments the Klingons had made with the probes sent into the anomaly.
Although this "First Contact" had, to this point, gone by smoothly, Chalok
had
made it very clear, as he stated ... " To be candid commander, I do not know
why they felt that StarFleet was needed." Adding a touch of resentment to the
fact the Kemo Sabay had been sent there to unify forces with them.
While the Away Team was at Q'Nos, The Klingon Delegates had sent Captain
Gowrak to the Kemo to make an assessment on the capabilities of the vessel,
and to make certain that the new Sensor Arrays, property of the Klingon
Empire had in fact been installed and remodulated properly to work
efficiently. For some unknown reason, this arrogant Captain insisted to be
shown to the bridge, although DR. T'Kul had already twice reminded him that
area was
restricted. She couldn't help but wonder ... for a first contact, the
Klingons were too eager to get access to the bridge.
The crew of the USS Kemo Sabay would like to congratulate Ltjg Nava on her
promotion.

USS Kemo Sabay
SD 9902.24
Duty Log
After successfully installing the new Klingon sensor array, ShiAr left the
computer running a full diagnostic, and further programmed it to run a full
range of sensor scans. The Klingon technology would certainly enhance the
capabilities of the Kemo Sabay, but it was full of unnecessary programs that
ShiAr had had to bypass. She had also had to re-route some of the original
sensors on the ship, in order to get it all to work together.
As these programs were running, ShiAr had left with Commander Carova and Lt
Sandoval. They had gone down to the planet's surface to meet with the
Klingon scientists. Since the Klingons had been monitoring the anomaly
closely, they had vital information that was necessary for the success of the
mission. Commander Carova, Lt Sandoval and ShiAr accompanied by Lt F'erran,
from security, met with Chalok, the head scientist in charge of the
investigation. He updated the team from the Kemo Sabay with some
fascinating information. But mostly, they had come to the conclusion that
the only way to get conclusive data was to actually enter the wormhole.
ShiAr had questioned Chalok about controlling the probes once they entered
the anomaly. It seems as though once these probes entered the anomaly, they
lost control, and the probes never went to the same place. Although all
probes had been recovered. It would be very interesting to see if two
research vessels could enter the anomaly at the exact same time and end up in
the same place. The flight would have to be precisely timed, and ShiAr had
no
doubt their skilled helm officer Nava could handle the challenge, but were
the Klingon pilots as skilled?

Duty Log
We have concluded our brief meeting with our Klingon counterparts. Our
mission, although still unclear, presents many challenges. We haven't been
able to determine if our Klingon allies are keeping vital information from
us, but the information we have received from the probes launched into the
anomaly, are sufficient to allow us to proceed with a certain level of
confidence.
We know that the portal to the anomaly is stable, and that it is large enough
to accommodate two large spaceships entering simultaneously. We also know
that once the anomaly is engaged, we will lose helm control, as there appears
to be a spacial current, an electromagnetic flux that changes polarity at
random intervals. It is not apparent whether we will lose any critical
systems, and for this reason, all vital functions have triple back-up
safeties. Life support will take over any other priorities if there is a
systems failure. I have recommended to Lt Sandoval that we limit life
support to decks one and two, and that all personnel gather on those decks
while we engage the anomaly.

" All good things come to an end .... " ( Q )
The Kemo Sabay and the Klingon "Science vessel" were about to enter the
anomaly, when 12 Klingon Birds of Pray decloaked and fired upon both research
vessels, making their way through the anomaly. Before the anomaly was
destabilized and collapsed by the efforts of the Klingon science vessel, the
Kemo engaged in pursuit of the enemy Klingon fleet that had attacked them.
Once they reached the other side of the anomaly, the science
and tactical departments located thousands of other "exits" with totally
unknown destinations. The Kemo's mission was now to stop the Klingon enemy
vessels at all costs, to keep them from claiming this anomaly as their own
and to keep them from obtaining the artifact that Lt. Sandoval and Lt. ShiAr
have determined to be capable of causing and producing wormholes in space.
During this pursuit, the Kemo has now entered an area of space through one of
the exits, and the sensors have not determined their exact location in the
Galaxy.

When the Hull Breaks
A Joint Log
By Lt Jg. ShiAr and Lt Tasha T'Kul
USS Kemo Sabay
SD 9903.17
ShiAr and Jadzia continued their conversation, in spite of the fact the Dr.
Yazji, the EMH had disapproved of Lt ShiAr doing anything, ShiAr had
theorized that the device, or Gatekeeper, as she had dubbed it, was possibly
a life form. She had sought out Dr. T'Kul to ask her opinion.
"You say it is possible that it might be a life-form? How have you arrived
at this conclusion?" inquired Tasha.
"Well Dr." replied ShiAr, "After running scans on it, we discovered that the
nucleus is riddled with what seems to be a circulatory system. But instead
of circulating blood, or another similar substance, the flow consists of
neutrons and protons."
"Fascinating" replied Tasha, "but how does that make it a life-form?"
"Uncertain," was ShiAr's reply, "the only thing that leads me to this line of
thought is the fact that there is nothing in its composition that is
machine-like. Furthermore, it was rendered inactive, or unconscious, by a
low energy Verteron pulse, which seems to have stunned it." "I have reason
to believe that not only is it a life-form, but that it creates these
wormholes as a means of traveling and exploring the universe, much like we
use our
spaceships." Concluded ShiAr.
"This is all very interesting," said Tasha, "I would like to see our guest,
where is it?" inquired Dr. T'Kul
"It's in cargo bay one" replied ShiAr, "lets go take a look at it"
ShiAr and Tasha left sickbay and headed to take a look at the mysterious
being.
When they arrived at their destination, they encountered a forcefield, and
behind the forcefield they could see that the Gatekeeper was gone, and only a
huge hole on the hull of the ship was left to explain what had happened.
Both scientist stared in silence; then, as if their minds were one, they
agreed to head to the bridge to find out what had happened. "Then I shall
resume my work on the data we have retrieved from the Gatekeeper, perhaps I
can
further our understanding of its function and/or purpose," concluded ShiAr.
With that said, they turned towards the turbo lift hoping to find some
answers on the bridge of the battered ship.

USS Kemo Sabay Sim Summary SD 9903.24
by: Tasha T'Kul
"You say history considers me dead. Who am I to argue with history?"
Captain James T Kirk
The Kemo Sabay is at all stop. After LtjgNava navigated through the asteroid
field, the Science team got to work on establishing sensors and our definite
location in the Galaxy. Ltjg ShiAr and Lt. Sandoval had tried to utilize the
tractor beam to contain and beam back the "device" that had been expelled
into space when the Kemo hit one of the largest asteroids, causing a hull
breach in cargo bay1. Their attempt had
failed, and out of nowhere, they witnessed how the "devise" was beamed into
what seemed "thin air." They concluded, it must have been a cloaked ship.
Captain Trista called all senior officers to her ready room, the Science
department had finally established their location. As they all gathered and
sat around the conference table, Lt. Sandoval lead the meeting with the
astonishing news that the Kemo, was now in the BETA quadrant, and that it had
traveled 7,000 light years while going through the anomaly, and at its exit,
that asteroid field they had encountered, was no asteroid field. It was the
remains of an existing planet that had somehow exploded just minutes before
their arrival. Just then Ltjg Nava's voice came through the comm system
acknowledging a ship headed directly towards the Kemo with weapons armed and
ready.

Assistant Science Officer
USS Kemo Sabay
SD 9903.34
Duty Log
ShiAr had returned to Stellar Cartography. The meeting in the Officer's
Lounge had been brief, but sobering. In short, they had been pulled into an
artificially generated wormhole, had emerged in the Beta quadrant, into a
rain of planetary debris, damaging the ship's hull and compromising the
navigational controls. And to top it all off, they had lost the device that
had created the wormhole, and with it, their ticket home.
The Captain had ordered the Science Department to plot a course home, and
ShiAr was working on matching the maps downloaded from the Gatekeeper, to the
ones in their own databank. It was late, and even though her shift had
ended, she couldn't stop what she was doing. She had brought her pet
'Catastrophe' to keep her company. The big ginger tabby was perched on top
of the console and was purring contentedly.
"Computer, open duty log, authorization ShiAr 8893," said ShiAr.
"Authorization acknowledged, logs accessed. Proceed when ready," came the
familiar response. ShiAr paused briefly, then she began:
"By the information downloaded from the memory banks of the device know as
Gatekeeper, we have been able to determine our position in the Beta Quadrant.
Without the benefit of a wormhole, it will take us 7.6 years at maximum warp
to reach the Alpha Quadrant and sector 001. I have plotted the shortest
possible route, however, there are anomalies and other unknown phenomenon,
which may delay or shorten our journey home. Therefor, the standard
deviation for these calculations is at best 0.8 Earth years. The stellar
maps we have been able to study contain several thousand gigabytes of
information regarding nebulae, stars, black holes and planetary systems that
merit further research. Even though there is some information on them in the
data retrieved, it has not been properly decoded, which only leads to more
confusion, and an enhanced sense of curiosity about these events."
End log
ShiAr finished entering a series of commands to the current program. She had
been able to coordinate the Klingon sensor array data, with their own. Now
it was up to the computer to cross-reference the information from the
Gatekeeper with their own, in order to find other possible wormholes created
by the device. They needed to find both their Klingon allies, and foes,
possibly retrieve the Gatekeeper, and find a shorter and faster way home.
"Come on Catastrophe, let's go to bed," said ShiAr as she picked up the big
feline. She turned on her heel and retired to her quarters, wondering if she
would be able to get any sleep.

Duty Log
The Captain had left Stellar Cartography in a hurry. ShiAr and Lt Sandoval
looked at each other wondering what was going on. In an uncommon way, ShiAr
sat down at the console and paused; she then turned to Marcus and raising an
eyebrow she said: "it seems as if we may have encountered some Klingon ships
that may be in the neighborhood of 90 to 100 terran years old!"
Marcus sat down slowly and made himself comfortable. Crossing his arms and
putting his feet up he nodded and replied, "that would corroborate our
findings with these three maps. Somehow we went through a temporal rift in
the wormhole, and went back to a time previous to the peace treaties with the
Klingon Empire." After that brief moment of reflection, LT Sandoval put his
feet down, stood up and straightened out his uniform. "I had better get
myself back to the bridge ShiAr, the Captain will be needing me at the
Science station. Carry on with the mapping of the region. It will be
interesting to compare the new charts with the ones we have from Starfleet,"
he said. Then he turned crisply and exited the room, leaving ShiAr to her
work and her own reflections.
As the computer continued to download the data from the sensor arrays, ShiAr
walked over to the tactical display to study holographic projection of the
three superimposed maps. She then went into her small office and sat down.
"Computer, access duty logs, authorization ShiAr 8893.03" she ordered.
"Authorization acknowledged, logs accessed, proceed when ready," was the
familiar reply that came from the machine.
Duty Log, SD 9903.31
We have traveled back in time through an anomaly, which we have been unable
to detect. This has placed us in a delicate position, for it would appear as
though we may have come upon a conflict between a Klingon vessel and a
Starfleet ship, the Starfleet ship being that of the eminent Capt. James T.
Kirk.
Lt Sandoval and I have informed the captain of our findings with respect to
the age of the stars we have matched up, using our own data, the data
retrieved from the device (the Gatekeeper), and the maps we are currently
charting. The discrepancies in the maps have suggested a temporal
differential of approximately 90 to 100 years.
Closer analysis of the charts in conjunction with the data from our sensors,
may help us to locate this temporal anomaly, in which case, we would be able
to return to our own time in space. Otherwise, as LT Sandoval has suggested,
our 8 year journey back to the Alpha Quadrant, and sector 001, would place
us some 82 years before our era.
End log.
The nuances of time travel and its effects on past, present and future, was
still a subject that many people had a difficult time conceptualizing. There
were so many ramifications and possibilities, even her Vulcan logic couldn't
grasp them all. But it was a fascinating subject, and that was what ShiAr
had on her mind as she continued to chart the stellar systems that the sensor
fed into her computer.
"A fascinating subject" she said under her breath, "fascinating".

USS Kemo Sabay's Sim Summary
SD 9903.31
by: Lt. Tasha T'Kul
"Seize the time, Meribor. Live now; make now always the most precious time.
Now will never come again." ....... ---Captain Jean-Luc Picard
With the ship's sensors now back on line and receiving all incoming data
from the star systems located in the Beta quadrant, it became more of a
puzzle to try and compare them to the data from the "Gatekeeper" for some
reason, the ship's sensors located and identified the same stars, nebulas,
and so forth with the slight difference that they seemed 82 standard earth
years younger. The conclusion was reached by the entire Science
team, the Kemo had gone through a temporal rift when entering the anomaly.
The bridge crew had been quite occupied trying to figure out why their
sensors were picking up a StarFleet signature, and as they approached, they
became mesmerized to find not other than the USS Enterprise NCC 1701-A
commanded by Capt. James T. Kirk . Captain Trista was summoned to the Science
lab to receive the report that only confirmed their present situation, and if
memory served her well, she knew that the Enterprise would be on their way to
a peace treaty with the Klingons, but the Klingons of 82 years back, not the
ones on an intercept course to their ship.

Lt Jg ShiAr
Assistant Science Officer
USS Kemo Sabay
SD 9904.07
Since Lt Sandoval had been summoned to the Bridge, and Dr. T'Kul had gone to
Sick-Bay to see what the problem was with the EMH, ShiAr returned to her
work--station.
After hours of working on the computers, trying to restore the lost data, she
had to assume that it might not be possible to do so at all. She had
explored all avenues, tried all backup systems, all to no avail.
"I shall return to analyze this problem later," said ShiAr, not resigning
herself to the loss of all of that important, and utterly fascinating stuffe.
She left the computer running a deep recall program, accessing the Klingon
databank and backup systems. "Perhaps I should concentrate my efforts on
something else, it should offer the opportunity to clear up my thought
process." "I shall proceed to Cargo Bay 2 and continue with the analysis of
the
Gatekeeper." She then exited Stellar Cartography, and taking some sensor
boosters, she headed towards the turbo lift.
Nobody had been able to alert the Science Department that the reason for the
power fluctuations, and the concurrent loss of data, had been in part
attributed to a fluctuation in neutrino levels in the cargo bay where the
device had been stored.
When she arrived at Cargo Bay 2, ShiAr paused outside the doors. She sensed
that something was not right, but she couldn't explain the feeling. Taking
precautions, she examined the panel outside the bay for any recorded
abnormalities, and seeing none, she proceeded to enter.
The blast took ShiAr completely by surprise. The Gatekeeper had charged the
bay with neutrinos, and then departed, leaving a high concentration of energy
behind. ShiAr had unleashed that energy when she opened the bay doors. She
had been thrown across the hall and slammed into the opposite wall with such
force, that she had fractured her skull, and as she lay on the floor, in a
pool of blood, the neutrinos dispersed themselves throughout the ship.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tasha T'Kul
Duty Log
SD 9904.07
Tasha exited Stellar Cartography accompanied by ShiAr, the news of the
recovery of the "Gatekeeper" was too exciting to pass on. As they walked down
the corridor towards the turbo lift, Tasha's communicator chirped with the
all too familiar voice of the EMH, Dr. Monzer Yazji. Although Tasha had tried
to ignore his plead for help, managing a slight smile as she heard his voice
break up as he asked her to report to Sick Bay to check
on his program. Tasha was well aware of the power surge that had overcome the
entire ship, rendering several systems inoperable, and as much as she wanted
to at last see this famous device called "Gatekeeper" she excused herself
with ShiAr, assuring her she would catch up with her as soon as she was able
to stabilize Dr. Yazji. To her surprise, ShiAr had attempted to reach to
Tasha's humorous human side, as she responded "let his program continue to
malfunction, with any luck, you'll be able to delete is and start from
scratch" Tasha did manage to smile at the idea, but immediately headed back
to Sick Bay.
As she entered the Sick Bay, she found that Nurse Monroe, was trying her best
to keep a straight face as she tried to calm the EMH who was having a "cat
fit" as she very well put it. Tasha took a closer look at the EMH program or
at what was left of it, she had to admit it was rather humorous indeed, Dr.
Yazji could be seen only partly, it was like if he had been cut diagonally,
so she could only see one of his eyes, part of his nose, only one ear,
one arm which kept motioning up and down with the erratic sounds that his
voice emitter was capable of under this circumstances. Tasha could not
contain it any longer, she then made a perfect imitation of his now very well
known sarcastic remarks with a smile, then turned to the console and
terminated his program. She then sat down at the console and initiated a
level three diagnostic on all systems in Sick Bay with Monroe's assistance.
As they
waited for the main computer's reply, Monroe stared at Tasha smiling. "What
is so funny Monroe?" Tasha asked of her, "The way you imitated the EMH with
such perfection and then just shut him off. He had it coming didn't he?" she
said amused. Tasha nodded and smiled, then the computer's announcement was
heard overhead throughout the Bay, "Diagnostic complete, all systems are
running within parameters." Tasha then stood and headed for the door, she was
really looking forward to finally see this marvelous device, as she
approached the door, Nurse Monroe called out to her "What about Dr. Yazji? "
Tasha turned to her and said "That can wait for later". With that said and
out of the way, she headed to Shuttle Bay 2, where ShiAr awaited.

As ShiAr continued to monitor the sensors, she thought it might be prudent to
record the events, for things might change very quickly. She took a moment
to enter into her duty log what had happened on the bridge.
"Computer, open duty log, authorization ShiAr Omega Chi 9308.8," she said in
a quiet voice. "Authorization acknowledged, log accessed, proceed when
ready," was the familiar reply from the computer.
ShiAr paused for a moment to gather her thoughts, then she began: "we have
passed through another anomaly in our search for the Klingon vessel, and for
Chalok. I suspect that the Gatekeeper created this wormhole as well. As we
exited the anomaly, we found ourselves in the atmosphere of a large planet.
My initial scans have shown large amounts of vegetation, primitive in nature;
consisting mostly of ferns, philodendron, lichen and moss. Our
sensors have also detected a life form, very large in mass, although not
carbon based. Because of our precarious situation, and the lack of data on
this life form, I have recommended that we phase our ship out of visible
frequency, in order to study the planet's inhabitants."
End log.
Just then, ShiAr experienced another brief lapse of consciousness. This was
the second time. She had to hold on to the console in order to not collapse.
There it was, definitely a presence in her mind… as if someone, or something
were trying to communicate with her. She felt the vegetation around her, and
a feeling of loss, of despair, it was all very confusing.

Chief Medical Officer's Personal Log
Lt. Tasha T'Kul
SD 9905.04
After carefully determining the pros and cons of having an operational EMH in
Sick Bay, Tasha decided it was time to bring him back. Ever since that power
surge, which corrupted his program, the Sick Bay had been rather peaceful and
quiet. Tasha had considered this option several times throughout the ten days
he has been deactivated. But the decision had been made, the EMH would in
fact
be activated, although modified, and if in fact she could not perform the
modifications, then she would have to take the matter to the Captain, and let
her make the final decision. Tasha took her place at one of the Medical
consoles, and initiated the modifications, a while later she realized, that
one of the EMH's subroutines was totally inaccessible. This bothered her, she
knew she was dealing with one of the most sophisticated and new programs
StarFleet had to offer, and it pained her to acknowledge that she might need
assistance from Engineering. " I'll will have to remedy that deficiency as
soon as feasible" She said to herself, as she accessed different subroutine
files that needed her attention. Raw information began to flash across the
screen, operating-system symbols, and numbers, all in a jumbled disarray.
Hundreds of screens of data, most of it garbled, appeared in quick
succession. She then leaned forward and generated a decoding algorithm in her
mind, and mentally overlaid it on the jumble, seeing order amid chaos.
Minutes later, she was reading it swiftly. She then proceeded to make the
modifications on the program. She had given this matter such thought, she had
even created a program designed to eradicate all evidence of her tampering.
This way, once the EMH was activated, he would have no way of knowing his
programming had been changed, or modified. It was a tedious task that took
well over 6 hours, but at last, she had completed the new programming, with
the exception of that subroutine. She then looked at her chronometer, it was
05:45, she knew Lt. Sandoval would be reporting for his shift shortly, so she
decided to meet him in Engineering to ask for his assistance.

SD 9905.12
Dr. T'Kul and I have been researching the species of this planet with the
information we were able to gather before we were taken by the youth.
It is my observation that it is highly unlikely that this species would
consider us a threat of any kind. But by the same token, they would probably
deem us too insignificant to be of any valuable assistance, due to the
enormous discrepancy in our physical sizes and characteristics.
It is my recommendation, as a Science Officer, that in the event that we are
able to communicate with Mega Formicidae again, that we try to convince it
that the ship is in fact, a communication device. That in order for us to
better communicate, it is necessary for the ship/device to be out in the open
field. That we, the crew, are of equal or larger size than they and, that
we are in orbit. This would allow us to interact with the species on an
equal plain.
If we can convince them of this, then we, the real crew, should be able to
move about outside of the ship, acting as tools and monitoring devices of our
imaginary selves who are in orbit.
As for the disease itself, we currently have insufficient data. Dr. T'Kul
will have to interact more closely with our friends in order to obtain the
information she needs to treat this rare disease.

Tasha went over the settings on the clam shell once again without taking her
eyes off of Commander Carova, who now lay peacefully inert, she then looked
up and nodded at Dr. Yazji, who stood by waiting to take over for her. As she
gave him the final instructions on the care of her Commander, Tasha glanced
over to her office where ShiAr awaited her return with all her calculations
on hand in her PADD. Tasha then glanced back at Commander Carova then
back at Dr. Yazji. "Please report any changes on his condition to me
immediately Dr." The Hologram Doctor just smiled and said "Why, of course Dr.
You needn't worry, I'll call you if I see a blink of his eye" Tasha thought
for a minute before responding, then she reconsidered and walked towards her
office without saying another word. As she entered her office, she closed the
door behind her. ShiAr went over her calculations once again out loud.
"We would have a mere 15 centimeters on each side. Although we both have a
fair amount of flight experience, I still think it would be wise to request
someone with a bit more experience, this could get a bit tight out there and,
I'd like to minimize the risk factor as much as possible" Tasha nodded then
turned towards the window in her office where she had a clear view of the
surgical frame bed occupied by Commander Carova, then she let out a small
sigh "Well, there is your pilot and he is not going anywhere. Any
suggestions?" ShiAr let out a smile as she said, "I was prepared for that
question, and yes I happen to know who could get us through just fine ... Lt.
Sandoval, I have seen him do things on a shuttle that you would consider hard
to believe. I think he would be our best choice" Tasha nodded, then said as
she motioned ShiAr out the door "Well then lets not waste more time, I'll get
the pertinent authorization from the Captain while you break the news to Lt.
Sandoval. I'll meet you in shuttle bay 2 in 15 minutes." They both walked
briskly out of the sickbay, then turned opposite ways on the corridor.

Sim Summary, SD 9906.16
Reporting Lt. Anastasia T'Kul
After successfully getting the Kemo out of the giant alien's home, and
after Commander Carova embarked on one of the shuttlecrafts to go after the
medical/science team who had collided after attempting to retrieve a tissue
sample from one of the adult beings. In hopes for a solution to their life
threatening decease. The USS Kemo Sabay had picked up a Klingon ship on long
range sensors, Lt. Sandoval also noticed that
this Klingon vessel was projecting some kind of Ion beam, which in fact was
the cause for these aliens to fall ill and then surrender shortly to their
death. Captain Trista ordered the capture and immediate beaming of the
Klingons to the Kemo's brigs. The USS KemoSabay is now at a short distance of
one of the many singularities that might return them back to the Alpha
quadrant. The only pending matter is to disengage the beam, and make certain,
this
will be the only medical course of action to reestablish the health of those
enormous beings, who fascinating enough, were able to establish a telepathic
first contact with one of our crew.

By Tasha T'Kul
As the Kemo Sabay went through the anomaly that hopefully would return them
home, Cdr. Carova picked up a distress signal. The signal was weak, but it was
identified as a Federation signature. Once the ship had gone through, Lt.
Sandoval picked up a ship on sensors, he was able to identify it as an Aurora
Class. From a distance they thought they had encountered the USS Darmok, but
as helm brought them closer, the crew was paralyzed
with the surprise. Ltjg Nava took the ship about, close enough for the
science team to put the ship on screen, all the bridge crew remained silently
astonished as they were all able to read the registry on the saucer. "USS
Kemo Sabay." Captain Trista ordered an immediate scan of the vessel, and Ltjg
ShiAr was unable to detect any life signs aboard. The Captain then decided to
send an away team to board the vessel, she needed some answers. What were
they looking at here? Their future? Or was this the joining point of a
Parallel universe? Cdr. Carova, Lt. Sandoval, and Doctor Yazji the ship's EMH
are now in transporter room two waiting to be transported to what could be
the most inexplicable away mission ever.

************************************************************
Tasha entered the Science Lab to find ShiAr working at one of the consoles
with Ensign Amarillo. She quietly approached and stood closely behind,
observing them at what they did best. ShiAr turned to face the new ensign;
"You have a keen interest in the sciences ensign." The young ensign replied
with a smile on her face "I was recently posted on the Kemo Sabay as an
Assistant Science Officer and yes I have a fascination with
Science." ShiAr nodded with a raised brow. "It is evident, your knowledge is
impressive."
In the background Tasha cleared her throat to attract the attention of the
scientist, ShiAr turned and greeted her. "Doctor, may we assist you? Tasha
nodded to them both, letting a slight smile turn the corner of her mouth,
then she looked straight at ShiAr, "Indeed Lt. I'd like to discuss our
current position with you".
ShiAr took that as an invitation to explain her findings, and proceeded; "I
have been running scans on this ship, and after analyzing the readings, I
have come to the following conclusion: it seems as though this Kemo Sabay has
gone through several portals." Tasha Put her hands behind her back and
listened carefully. "The readings show a residual Neutrino buildup on its
hull which might indicate it has gone through some anomalies created by our
friend the Gatekeeper. I have cross referenced the readings with the small
amount of data we were able to retrieve after out friend left us."
Tasha raised her brows, "Now that is a name I hadn't heard in a while, why
would you think it could have something to do with our current situation?"
she inquired.
"As I said before doctor, the neutrino buildup matches the pattern of the
anomalies created by the Gatekeeper. Every time we have gone through one of
these anomalies, the readings have been different, but I have been able to
establish a definite pattern for the created ones, vs. the natural
occurrences."
ShiAr turned away from her console and raised a brow awaiting a reply from
Tasha, who just stood there, speechless.
"Of course I have not been able to establish a correlation between these
neutrino patterns and LT Nava's condition" she continued, "I am uncertain of
this, but I have theorized that our proximity to
this 'mirror ship' has affected her psychologically, and thus her symptoms
are psychosomatic."
"That is a very interesting theory Lt.," said Tasha, "I for one, have come to
you because I have been unable to establish a physical motive for her
condition," she concluded.
After a moment of deliberation, ShiAr responded "I would not be surprised if
this were a rift in the time-space continuum and we are actually looking at
our future."
At that point, Tasha knew she was not the only one on board who suspected
this. "I have had the same thoughts Lt. What I need to establish at this
time, is how being in this rift in the present and looking at our "future" as
you put it, could affect Nava in such a way."
ShiAr stood to her full height and arranged her uniform. "That my dear
doctor, is something my scanners are unable to read from here."
Tasha nodded to that comment, "I had already taken that into consideration,
Dr. Yazji is transporting over to the ship as we speak, I cannot tell you how
eager I am to hear from him." ShiAr nodded, " As am I, even with our
enhanced Klingon sensors, I cannot perform medical diagnosis". Ensign
Amarillo had overheard the entire conversation and she interrupted when she
heard the mention of the Klingon sensors. "Excuse me Sir, did you say Klingon
sensors? She asked curiously, Tasha and ShiAr turned to her and nodded,
"That is correct ensign. We are here on a joint mission with the Klingons."
ShiAr informed her new Science assistant, then turned her attention back to
Tasha. "I would personally like to go over to the Kemo however, Lt Sandoval
is already over there, so we must wait patiently for their return," she
concluded, letting out a slight sigh. "I think we all would like to check out
the other ship, this situation is a very unique one Lt. to say the least."
ShiAr looked at Tasha and nodded, " indeed it is Doctor. In the meantime, I
shall pursue my analysis of the neutrino patterns so that I can present a
report to the Captain. If I am correct in my assumptions, we may be able to
find our way out of this maze of anomalies by retracing the neutrino trail
and using the degradation pattern as a map".
Tasha gave her shipmate a supportive nod; " Patience has never been one of my
best traits. Are you certain we cannot research this any further with the
limited data we have? I find myself feeling a bit anxious and, that Lt. is
hard for me to admit. I fear that if your assumptions are correct, this
could affect other members of the crew".
Just then her communicator chirped; "Sick Bay to Dr. T'Kul," Nurse Monroe's
voice came in clearly." I have finished the lab work on Lt. Nava, and doctor,
think you should come in and see this yourself". Tasha's brows raised as she
looked at ShiAr. "Acknowledged Monroe, we are on our way, Tasha out." Tasha
motioned ShiAr to follow, they rapidly headed out of the Science Lab, and on
her way out ShiAr turned to Ensign Amarillo, and instructed her to
continue to scan the "other" Kemo Sabay. She happily complied. As they made
their way into the sick bay, Nurse Monroe was standing at the entrance,
waiting with the PADD already extended in Tasha's direction. Tasha took the
PADD, glanced over the data quickly and looked at ShiAr. " This is most
interesting, come, lets go into my office". She said as she motioned the
direction with the PADD in her right hand, ShiAr followed her closely, they
entered
the office, Tasha took her seat at her desk and motioned ShiAr to take the
chair in front of her, then handed her the PADD.
As ShiAr went over the information Tasha summarized it for her; "Most
irregular. Somehow ... Lt. Nava's hemoglobin has been ionized, binding with
the oxygen. The bond seems to be unnaturally strong, not permitting the
release of oxygen into the tissue. This at least explains the dizziness,
blurred vision and the general anoxia symptoms she had". "Excuse me a moment
Lt." Tasha walked out of her office instructing Nurse Monroe to begin TriOx
injections for Nava, after a blood replacement with synthetic hemoglobin.
She then sent out a ship-wide notice to all humans and other red-blooded
species on board, to report to sickbay for the same treatment.
After a few moments, Tasha returned to her office. ShiAr nodded to her and
continued, "have you determined what caused the strong molecular bond?" She
asked setting the PADD down on the desk.
Tasha thought about it for a few seconds before responding. " I have given it
some thought, but my theory will most definitely need a more scientific
basis, and that is one of the reasons I am seeking your assistance. You
see, with the information you have just provided, I suspect that when the
shields were extended, the neutrino buildup may have caused a molecular
reaction in the hemoglobin, ionizing it, thus
binding it to the oxygen in a strong way"... She was interrupted by an
incoming communication. "Ensign Amarillo...to ...s.ick...he..lp" The faint
voice faded out and never returned. Tasha and ShiAr were up in no time,
Tasha with her medical emergency kit in hand. They both ran out of sick bay
and made it to the Science lab only scarce seconds after the emergency call
came through. They made their way inside the lab, and there they found her,
on
the floor, with her vital signs in a flat-line.

Pathological Report:
The subject was admitted in Sick Bay at precisely 18:00 Hrs. She was DOA at
intake. Subject presented a bluish tone throughout her entire dermis, her
eyes remained open and her pupils dilated, in accordance with post mortem.
Spirometry procedure was then initialized, to determine the presence of
pulmonary diseases such as; Orthopnea, chest wall abnormalities, Chronic
obstructive pulmonary disease, cystic fibrosis, interstitial diseases,
Guillain-Barre syndrome.
Tissue and blood samples were taken from the subject to determine any
abnormal laboratory finding such as: chest radiograph and blood gases.
Clinical Application:
The measurement of viatal capacity (VC) primarily reflects parenchymal
function. PEF primarily reflects lung recoil, parenchymal involvement and
strength.
All clinical tests failed.
The measurements of Raw or Gaw, on the other hand, predominantly reflect
airway caliber. Most Raw in normal subjects resides in the larger airways
above the fourth generation and includes the oropharynx. According to Hogg
etal, peripheral airways (<2-3mm) contribute approximately 20% to the total
resistance in normal subjects.
Subject testing showed no resistance or tolerance.
Conclusion:
Subject died of massive respiratory failure, caused by the inability to
sustain the minimum amount of oxygen in the blood, causing an acute
myocardial infraction.

USS Kemo Sabay Sim Summary
SD 9907.28
Reporting Lt. Tasha T'Kul CMO
While exiting one of the thousands of wormholes in this sector of space the
USS KemoSabay has now encountered an aggressive Vulcan ship, which fired upon
the Federation vessel without any warning or provocation. The constant exits
through these different anomalies, has caused major power failures throughout
the ship setting it in a difficult position to fight back. The surprise
attack has raised many questions
throughout the crew, because of their alliance with the Vulcans. But there is
no mistake at all, all sensor readings indicate that they are in fact
Vulcans. The only other possibility could be that we are in different
reality. The Vulcan ship has asked us to power down and to prepare to be
boarded. Captain Trista has complied taking note of several officer's
objections, and has ordered the crew to report to transporter room two to be
beamed off the
ship. Several senior officers including the Captain have managed to elude
the Vulcan guards and have been able to remain aboard. The crew will be
subject to a trial for breaking rules and regulations on this so called
"Vulcan Space." To this point we ignore the kind of laws and consequences we
will be set upon, so it is of paramount importance that we somehow find a way
to reunite the crew and take back control of our vessel.

Tasha thanked Nurse Monroe as she took the PADD containing Commander Carova's
lab results from her. She had been working around the clock to establish a
way to neutralize the effects of the Borg nanites, but so far, all her
attempts had been unsuccessful. She sat down heavily on her chair, tossing
the PADD on her desk and closed her eyes a few seconds in an attempt to
regain her concentration. A few minutes later, she picked up the PADD and
studied
the results, hoping to find that the previous treatment had initiated the
remission process. She went over the information several times before she
finally threw the PADD across her desk. "This is not logical!" she said as
she stepped out of the office, nurse Monroe turned in her direction with an
interrogative look in her face "What's wrong Dr.?" Tasha stared at her, and
as if thinking out loud responded "I, or rather we have performed all
necessary
treatments known by the federation in regard to Borg Nanite remission, all
the data in the medical files supports the different treatments as being
successful ... However, we have not been able to make them work on Commander
Carova. These nanites have the same biochemical composition, as any others,
which the federation has come across with but somehow, these in particular
are not responding in the same manner, in fact, they are not responding at
all. That is illogical!" Monroe watched her pacing the sick bay like a caged
lion as she spoke "There must be something that we are missing ... something
we have overlooked ... there is a factor in the equation that we have not
considered ". She turned to face her observant nurse "But what is it?" Monroe
stood speechless, she had been working double shifts since Carova had been
placed in the stasis chamber, she had ran out of ideas her body ached
with exhaustion. "Dr. if I may say this much ... " Tasha turned to face her
"yes? she replied keeping her hands behind her back as she usually did when
she was in one of her thinking modes. "I think, Sir, we should let it rest
... At least for a couple of days ... We have been totally dedicated to
solving this and I think we are caught in the mid of it ... We are not
thinking clearly anymore, I think we need a break, get some sleep, get out of
this
vicious circle and return rested and with new ideas ... Sir". Tasha observed
her as she spoke, there was logic in what she was trying to explain, and she
had to admit she was right. "Very well, lets clean up here and head off to a
nice warm meal and well deserved rest, we will catch up with our normal
duties tomorrow at 08:00 " with that, she turned and headed to the Stasis
Chamber to program the next cycle while Monroe cleared off the lab and left
the sick bay leaving Tasha and Carova behind. Tasha stood there, observing
how the Borg nanites had in just a matter of days, taken over Carova's body.
They were spreading rapidly, even in the stasis unit, which logically would
have stopped the process. There was something very different about these
particular nanites, something not seen or documented before. "Precisely" she
said with a frown" If these nanites are behaving in a totally different way
and have to this point, been unresponsive to all known treatments, we'll just
have to come up with a totally new procedure, wont we?" She checked the
vitals on the screen and adjusted the gas levels and with a slight nod, she
said, "Sweet dreams Commander".

Tasha materialized in the shuttle just as she was about to shoot Ensign
Trent, thankfully the transport had caught him and everybody else for that
matter, off guard and she took advantage of this to immediately activate a
level 10 forcefield in the back area of the shuttle where the three afficers
were located.
There attitude was that of delusion, and paranoia, and as Tasha continued to
scan for their vitals, could see that they were becoming just as erratic as
their attitude. Tasha noticed that the scans on the three officers showed
that the production of endorphins was very elevated and erratic. The cause of
this was still unknown, but for now she had to concentrate in finding the way
to reduce or stop these high levels of Myelin.
Tasha settled down next to Fae, and setting her TC down beside her she
tactfully requested the frozen body of her husband for further examination.
As Fae, gently nodded her approval Tasha tapped her comm badge to let the
Kemo know that she needed them to beam the body of Fae's late husband to sick
bay. Tasha then asked to speak to the EMH and uploaded the data she had for
the three officers to the main medical frame in sick bay and discussed with
him the procedure to follow with the body he was about to receive.

By: Dr. Tasha T'KuL, CMO
SD 9912.01
To: Captain Trista
cc: Commander Kayla
Subjects: First Lieutenant Marcus Sandoval, Lieutenant Trailblazer and Ensign
John Trent.
My findings so far on all three subjects is as follows:
After careful deliberation, I have found that in all three cases, that their
nervous systems, which normally are able to relay information from their
brain to other parts of their bodies via a series of chemical reactions at
the level of the nerve cell membrane through a delicate yet deliberate,
concentration of ions on both sides of the membrane has been severely
deteriorated. Normally the fluid inside of the cell is strongly negative
compared with
the fluid outside, normally creating a force of stored energy called "resting
potential"
The over production of Cholinesterase has altered the polarity phase of the
nerve impulse which has a regenerative aspect resulting from the positive
feedback of membrane potential, sodium conductance and sodium influx.
Membrane depolarization occurs when potassium efflux restores the internal
negativity of the membrane.
Because of the surplus amounts of Myelin added to the outside of the nerve
along with intermittent gaps, the impulse can therefore jump from node to
node and increase speed considerably, thus maximizing conduction velocity,
and therefore exposing the entire system to overload.
This condition, needs to be controlled at once, because this acceleration can
cause a total nervous brake down, to the point of shutting down all brain
activities thus causing brain death.

Reporting: Fst. Lt. Tasha T'KuL
The last anomaly exit was entered as they tried to follow a probe that had
been sent in, upon reaching the other side of that exit, they encountered a
huge pile of debris, and as the ship approached it, a run down vessel
initiated an attack upon them. After communications were established with the
torn down vessel, Faenella, an old woman stated her claim on the debris and
welcomed an exchange with the
Kemo. An away team was dispatched to make the necessary arrangements for the
trade. Fst Lt. Marcus, Lt. Trailblazer, Ens. Trent, Lt. ShiAr and Dr. T'KuL
beamed to the ship and initiated the trade. Just minutes later all the males
in the away team became erratic and neurotic. Tasha and ShiAr tried by all
means to control them, but somehow their nervous systems were resistant to
all means at hand. Faenella then broke up in tears and hid from fright, as
she told the Doctor that they were suffering from the same illness that her
late husband had died of. Tasha asked the Kemo to transport them all to a
shuttle, trying to get away from the exposure. Once aboard the shuttle, Fst
Lt. Marcus, was able to brake through the containment field that up to that
moment had held him and started tearing up the panels. Tasha then beamed him
to the transporter buffer to keep him and the rest of the team safe, but
his pattern was degrading, and the power supply that was transferred to the
buffer was overloading ... it was just a matter of seconds as the team was
beamed to the Kemo and the shuttle exploding into bits and pieces.

The events leading to the Kemo Sabay's current predicament have become clear
to the me. Not having allowed myrself to be dazzled by all the advanced
technology that surrounded them on the surface and in orbit, I have
concentrated my efforts on finding out how they had arrived to their present
level. The results have raised a concern for our safety, and our compromised
position, being locked in a synchronous orbit.
I have reported to Commander Peterson and we have beamed back to the ship to
discuss these findings with the Captain.
My findings have uncovered the reason behind the secrecy and high security
placed around the technological advances of the planet. They did not develop
this technology by themselves. It is clear that these people were visited by
the devise known to us as the Gatekeeper, and that they somehow gained access
to it's databank, downloading millions of terraquads of information.
Unfortunately for them, this technology was far more advanced than their
own natural state of evolution, and although it has provided them with many
advances, they are missing the technology that links their past with the
present; technology which we posess. This is explains their more than
curious interest in our technology.
Now it is up to the Commanding Officers to secure the ship and its
technology, and to leave the system, best speed.
I have excused myrself from the bridge and proceeded to the Science console
to begin the calculations necessary to track the 70 year old neutrino trail.
The trail should lead us to the Gatekeeper devise. If we are able to locate
it, and establish communications with it, even at the risk of placing myself
in direct danger of mental shock, we may be able to obtain the information
necessary to find our way back to the alpha quadrant.

We have narrowly escaped from the advanced technology of our hosts. An
alien vessel appeared suddenly, showing signs of trouble in its core. I do
not know why he decided to aid us, but as we were trying to break away from
the tractor beam that had us detained, the ship opened fire upon the planet.
The Captain beamed the single passenger off the doomed ship and we warped
out of the system. However, our jump to warp in such close proximity to the
gravitational well of the solar system and the large planet, destabilized
normal space, opening up a subspace conduit. A ship was sent to follow us
into the conduit and was sure to catch us, but with the help of our new
guest, Mr. Kai Lyetta, who identified himself as a Brunnen, we were able to
disrupt their slipstream by firing inverted poleron bursts at two second
intervals. Unfortunately, the disruption of this stream destabilized their
propulsion system, causing the ship to explode and, send a magnitude nine
shock wave through our stream which pushed us out of subspace. We were able
to ride out the shock wave, but there is major damage to our ship, and
several systems are off line, including warp drive and weapons.
I have worked double shifts in astrometrics trying to determine our exact
location, and after realigning the sensor array and recalibrating the
computers, I have been able to confirm my first findings. A high level of
neutronic radiation indicates that we are in close proximity to the largest
singularity known in the galaxy. There is also a very high concentration of
stars and nebulae, as well as primordial star matter. I have concluded that
we
have found our way to the center of the galaxy.

Our ship has been placed in orbit around an apparently dead planetoid. I
have not detected any life signs, but our sensors did pick up a multiple
signal coming from a lower orbit. The signal came from a large group of
machines orbiting the planetoid in an apparent formation. We did not detect
any life signs on board any of the larger ones.
In order to study one of these machines up close we attempted to beam one of
the small ones on board. Howeve, once the machine was on board it resisted
and tried to break loose from the containment field. Its fellow machines
have responded by attacking the ship, and we currently have hull breaches on
several decks.
Captain Trista has locked out the command controls, but we are uncertain as
to how to proceed. A non confrontational response may produce a more
favorable response. I suspect they may have an interest either in us or in
our technology. That remains unclear.
I will proceed to run passive scans on the ones that have boarded the ship
in an attempt to find out if their technology is compatible with ours, or if
I can determine its origin.

We have managed to avoid a serious confrontation with the machines that
boarded our ship. As Mr. Trent established communications and convinced them
that we were of no harm to the ship, we were able to lock onto and beam them
off the ship.
At the time of the beam out I was able to access the ship's records of
similar machines. To my surprise, the computer has identified these machines
as derived from the basic design of the Exocomps, developed at a mining
station in the alpha quadrant by Starfleet.
I cannot explain their presence in this part of the Galaxy. However, it is
interesting to postulate that if they have been here for some time, they must
have found an anomaly which allowed them to travel great distances in a very
short period of time. If we can find the anomaly which they used, we may be
able to find our way back to sector 001 and report our findings.
It is regretable that in order to avoid a violent confrontation with them,
we had to trick the hive into following us to the singularity, and once we
were within the safest possible distance to the Event Horizon, my
calculations allowed us to fire a full spread of photonic energy into the
singularity, feeding its gravitational well only enough to expand the Event
Horizon sufficiently to capture the Exocomps in its field. This meant
reversing course
while suddenly dropping out of warp speed and firing at the same time. It is
fair to mention that Mr. Trent, Mr. Marcus and the rest of the bridge crew
performed admirably under the circumstances.

Sim Summary
USS Kemo Sabay
SD 0003.15
Reporting Officer Fst Lt. ShiAr
The away team had located a submerged Klingon ship, but was unable to
determine it's exact identity.
While a second team had headed to the fifth planet of the small system to
collect dylithium for the ship, Fst Lts Sandoval, ShiAr and Dr, T'Kul landed
the shuttle (expertly executed by F LT Sandoval) and approached the lake to
study it's composition and take samples of nearby soil and water. No sooner
had they reached the lake and reported back to the ship, ops informed them
that there were two large meteors headed towards the planet, and that
there were also indications of tectonic activity surrounding the volcanic
crater.
While ShiAr attempted to take a sample, a quake or magnitude 7.5 shook the
area, opening fisures around the lake that began draining the water. Hastily
making their way back to the shuttle, the AT flew to an altitude of 30 Km
while contacting the ship. Orders were to lock a tractor beam onto the
Klingon ship and take it out of the lake and into orbit when the volcano
started to erupt, using the steam and ash cloud as cover to avoid detection.
Now
we need to determine if we rescued a friend or a foe.
Meanwhile in sickbay, Lt Jg Ale Moreno had come out of his unconscious state
and something very mysterious has happened to him. Without regard for the
EMH and Nurse Monroe's objections, he left SB in a semi hypnotic state, or
was it something beyond our comprehension....?
We have to decide whether to intervene and take care of the meteors that
could obliterate the planet's life, or let nature take its course, and what
in space has happened to Ale? Stick around for the next installment and find
out.
Special thanks to Lt Moreno for his multiple character portrayal on the
bridge enabling the AT to get the ship into orbit, and to Fst Lt Sandoval for
his magnificent flying and his undying devotion to the ship in the face of RL
work.
