From: FstLt Bargeil Leen
Re: Planet Aguaria
Aguaria is a Class M planet. O2/N atmosphere. Sensors indicate two forms of
apparently sentient life forms.
Lifeform A- Aquatic in nature, these beings live in a civilization of
apparently advanced technological sophistication. They appear to be aware of
space travel, though how is unknown. At present there is unsufficient
information regarding their behavioral, territorial, and societal habits to
draw a conclusion about how these beings live their lives.
Lifeform B- These bipedal humanoid like beings indicate sentience by living
in groups in constructed shelters. No power sources are being detected by
sensors. Currently there is insufficient information to determine exactly
how these beings live their lives.
WARNING- due to their primitive behavior, it is assumed that they know
nothing of space travel and the Prime Directive is in affect.
The oceans on this world consist of 93% H20, 5% methylene, 1% of a unknown
polymer type substance, and the remaining 1% is traces of various known
elements.
Sensor scans indicate large quantities of virtually pure veins of gold,
platinum, and zinc.

Re: Planet Aguaria
Long range sensors indicate that planet is currently undergoing an iceage.
There are two forms of sentient life. The species that we received the
signal from is aquatic in nature. There don't appear to be any hostilities
on this planet involving this race, however their signal indicates that they
are in need of some assistance involving the preservation of their lifeform.
We don't know that specifics around this. The second species is a humanoid
life form. The live in loosely organized villages
with no apparent power sources. We can assume that this form of life hunts
so therefore has primitive weapons. The away team will need to avoid these
people. The Prime Directive needs to be considered if any encounters with
species occur. While great displays of technology will probably scare these
people, care must be used not to interfere with their natural course of
development.

Chief Security Officer
USS Hermes
DUTY LOG, SD9609.22 - "Water, Water Everywhere"
The Hermes was sent to Aguaria in response to a call for assistance, although
the kind of assistance that was needed was kind of vague. On the way to the
planet, the Captain called a conference of the senior officers. He announced
that Science had determined that the planet had two major sentient lifeforms.
One group, the one who had called for assistance, lived in the planet's
oceans. The other group, apparently not yet aware of space travel, lived on
the land.
Haven was put in charge of an away team which would investigate the land. I
was assigned to this team as well as Stephanie. Although she is a civilian,
the Captain thought it would be advisable for her to go since she had seen
these land creatures before and might have some valuable information about
them.
The other away team that was formed was assigned the task of contacting the
water creatures. This team consisted of Raven, Beeg, Beth. Since this team
would need to go under the water, which was especially cold, special
enviro-suits were prepared by Pavlor. She also went on the away team to
pilot the boat and serve as communications relay between the Away Team and
the Hermes.
As soon as Ham, Haven and I beamed to the planet's surface, I began scanning
for the inhabitants. Our instructions were to observe them only and not to
interfere or make contact with them in any way. I identified a nearby
settlement. Since Ham had told us that the inhabitants were not too friendly,
I suggested we move to some cover. But it was too late. The natives had
already spotted us. They began throwing rocks and spears at us. I grabbed
Ham and we ducked behind some rocks.
We were pretty much helpless because we couldn't use our phasers without
violating the Prime Directive. We continued to dodge the rocks and while I
was distracted, Ham apparently ran off. I had just formed a plan to climb up
a small cliff and start an avalanche to scare the natives away, when they
suddenly left. We discovered that Ham had disappeared and began searching
for her. I was able to pick up her signal in some nearby caves.
Once I had located her, we started back for the beam up site. Once back at
the beach, I spotted something strange and went over to investigate it.
Before I knew it, I was caught in some kind of trap! It started dragging me
towards the water and I could see that it was going to take me under. I
called for Haven to help me and he was able to hold on to me for a short
time. But the trap proved to be too strong and I was pulled into the frigid
water.
I don't remember much after that -- just the darkness of the water and the
struggle to get out of the trap. I couldn't breathe so I must have lost
consciousness. The next thing I remember is waking up in Sick Bay.

We were called to planet Aguaria to negotiate peace agreements with the water
inhabitants of the planet. I lead the away team to the water with lt.Beeg
and Fst. Lt. Beth. Lt. Pavlor drove the boat we would be diving from. When
we entered the water, Beth had found one of the inhabitants. She started
communications with them Beeg, at this time, had swam away from the team.
She had found something on her scanner. I was notified by Pavlor that a
storm was heading our way and we only had 90 minutes to
settle negotiations. Beth had found out that the water inhabitants were in
danger from a feeding from "The Sky People." They begged for our help in
protecting them. Before she could find out anyting else, the boat was under
attack from a spaceship. Beth and I tried to find the alien while I told
Debbie to get the boat out of there. But we started swimming for the surface
and Beth was caught in something. One of the water beings freed her and I
was beamed away before I could follow. Before I was
beamed away, Pavlor had fallen from the boat and it was destroyed.
Back in the ship, Q had appeared once again. This time, he took Sydney with
him. Both Pavlor and Kar'ral, who had gotten caught in some kind of water
trap, were both treated for hypothermia from the intensely cold water. They
were both released and sent back to active duty. We now have to get both
Beth and Beeg out of the water before they run out of air and the temperature
of the water sets into their suits.
The water trap Kar'ral fell into sounds intriging. It sounds like something
that was meant to keep people away from the water or risk drowning or death
from hypothermia. I wonder what ideas the captain will share with me about
this.

Today I tested the new systems that Lt Soju and I put in a couple of day ago.
We found a few faults in the prioritizing system for the sensor array. It
turns out someone had gone in and re-prioritized the entire system. Lt Soju

out that all of the sensor arrays had been locked on to the HI HQ (Hemarian

there, and is feeding the data to an unlocated are of

Midnight
Ensign Gard is on duty. Karral calls Gard and tells him he is dismissed for
the night. Gard begins to gather his belongings and close up for the shift.
12:15 am
Doctor Raven arrives just as the guard is leaving. She calls to him. He
comes back and she asks him how the prisoner is doing. When Gard looks back
at the brig to answer, Raven gives him a hypo knocking him out for a couple
of hours. Raven visits the Klingon to seduce him, but is rejected by him.
She storms out forgetting to revive the guard.
12:20 am
Raven leaves deck 2 and runs into Sydney arriving at deck 2. Neither
exchange words. Sydney is dressed rather provocatively. Raven enters the
turbo lift and leaves, Sydney enters the Brig to visit/seduce the Klingon.
Sydney does not notice the unconscious guard. The Klingon also rejects her,
so she lowers the force field, and raises it just as heÆs on the border.
This causes a bad shock. She leaves the deck.
12:30 am
Karral arrives but doesnÆt see the guard and thinks that he left for the
night. She enters the brig and finds the Klingon laying on the floor. She
lowers the field and notices he was shocked by the force field, probably from
trying to escape. She takes advantage of his condition by beating on him
(this is to get even from when the Klingon slapped her during interrogation).
Then she hears someone coming. She hides behind an access panel, but forgets
to raise the field again.
12:45 am
Teena arrives (also Klingon) in the brig (Karral hiding behind panel unable
to see anything, but can hear). Teena sees Klingon beat and burnt and laughs
(Karral hears laughing). She decides to get medicine, fix him up, and let
him escape so she can honorably hunt him down and kill him. She raises the
field and leaves.
12:50 am
Karral hears the person leave, so she comes out, but then she hears someone
else coming, so she hides again. But this time while rushing, the panel
doesnÆt close all the way, and she can now see and hear whatÆs going on.
Beth enters the room, lowers the field, and starts beating on the Klingon
(this is because of all the trouble this Klingon has caused).
12:55 am
Teena walks in and Beth looks up. Beth acts like she was trying to help the
Klingon and Teena said she has a med kit and offers to help. Then, Teena
dismissed Beth who leaves silently. Teena then tells the Klingon to try and
escape to die an honorable death. Teena leaves the field up, and leaves the
room. Karral comes out, raises the field, and leaves the room too.
1:00 am
Beeg arrives on deck 2 almost entranced. She sees the guard lying
unconscious and takes his phaser. She enters the brig, points the phaser at
the Klingon, and fires. She then closes her eyes, drops the phaser, and
leaves the room. (She didnÆt actually kill him because the field was up.
The phaser didnÆt even penetrate the field. The Klingon yelled though
because it scared him, so Beeg thinks she killed him.) At the same time,
Raven returns because she finally realized she forgot to revive the
guard. When she arrives on deck 2, she hears the phaser fire coming from
the brig, and sees Beeg leave the room. Frightened, Raven returns to her
quarters.

1:15 am
Haven, Whit and Debbie arrive. After drinking synthehol to celebrate his new
promotion, Haven was still under medication for his eyes. This drug
interaction caused immediate intoxication. His friend Debbie, and new
officer Whit, both thought he was just over-celebrating, so they joined him
until they were all drunk. In their drunkenness, they began to talk about
the Klingon. Whit suggested a way to create a device that would restrict the
Klingon from sitting down. If he moved, the device would
shock him. The result would be the Klingon would have to stand all night.
In their laughter, they create the device, go to the brig, and set it up.
The Klingon tries to resist, but continues to get shocked every time he moves
from a standing position. Laughing, they leave the brig. (Ham overheard
them talking about shocking the Klingon in 9-Forward).
1:30 am
Ham arrives on deck 2, emotionally distraught and unstable. SheÆs carrying a
type I phaser. She goes into the brig, lowers the field, and shoots the
Klingon with the phaser on kill. The result is a bright white light. She
closes her eyes, drops the phaser, and runs out of the room. (Actually, all
she did was destroy the shock field around the Klingon freeing him. She
didnÆt even hurt him.) Now the Klingon is free with two phasers in the room.
He grabs one and leaves.
1:40 am
The Klingon exits the brig just as the guard is waking up. He charges the
guard and beats him, knocking him unconscious again. The Klingon puts the
guard in the brig and heads for the weapons storage also on deck 2.
1:45 am
Solo, who was very ill, turned out to have a nanite in his body. This has
made him a little crazy with hallucinations (Doctor Raven is aware of this
and confined him to quarters). Solo first goes to deck 8 where he sees Ham
running to her quarters. Ham sees Solo with a type II phaser. He enters
deck 2 and the brig. In a fury of hallucinations, he fires his type II
phaser all over the room. Then, he picks up the unconscious guard and the
other phaser, and carries him out of the room, and places him
in SeminoÆs private turbo lift. The Klingon hides as he sees Solo do this.
When Solo leaves the room, the Klingon steps into the lift. Teena had also
came back to see if the Klingon tried to escape yet. Just as she enters deck
2, she hears multiple phaser fire in the brig. Then, she sees Solo carrying
a body to the CaptainÆs private turbo lift. She calls to him, but he canÆt
seem to hear her (because of his state of mind). She looks in the brig and
sees several phaser blasts in the walls and no
one in the room. She returns to her room disappointed and thinking that
Solo must be taking care of it. On deck 8, she mumbles something about
killing the Klingon. Ham hears her say this and sees her carrying a type II
phaser.
2:00 am
The turbo lift doors open up in SeminoÆs quarters. Semino pulls his type II
phaser out as the Klingon presses the button to return back to the weapons
room. Semino shoots and kills the Klingon just before the doors close. Rick
notices the Klingon was badly beaten. He decides to keep everything as is
until an investigation is complete.

We were studying the weather patterns on Varel 4 from a safe distance. We

shuttle, and transporters were useless from the distance of the Hermes. At
the same time, the transporter craft carrying more passengers and who was to
pick up Solo arrived. ::Says sarcastically:: Perfect timing, although the
exchange was relatively smooth. Unfortunately, I
didn't get to say proper goodbye's to my First Officer.
Jar'Tan, Beth, Kari, Beeg, and Teena formed an away team to beam to the
planet's surface to look for the survivors. In order to penetrate the
atmosphere, Debbie took them in closer with a shuttle while Sydney and
Glenborne monitored the weather conditions from the Hermes. The away team
recovered the survivors in just a matter of minutes as the storm strengthened
and a tornado formed. Electrostatic activity increased as well.
Just as the shuttle beamed aboard the away team, lightning struck the
shuttle, preventing Beth's transport and damaging the shuttle. Ham helped
strengthen the Hermes' transporter lock while Sydney did her best to beam
Beth out of there. We tractored the shuttle in to safety, and then I was
called to sickbay. That's where I'm headed now.

Captain's log, Stardate 9609 point 22.
We entered orbit around Aquarian to begin peace trade agreements with the
sentient beings inhabiting the water. Lieutenant Commander Raven lead an
away team of divers including First Lieutenant Beeg and Counselor Beth. Our
Chief Engineer, Debbie Pavlor, guided the boat and acted as a communication
relay because once the team was underwater, communication from the Hermes
wasn't possible due to the composition of the freezing waters.
Another away team was lead by Lieutenant Commander Haven to survey the
surrounding shoreline and act as a sort of beacon for the boat. Our Chief of
Security remained with Haven and I also sent a civilian, Stephanie, since she
has actually made contact with the land creatures also inhabiting this
planet. However, part of the away team goals were to avoid contact with the
somewhat primitive land creatures in an effort to preserve the prime
directive.
During the mission, I have learned that the land team was unexpectedly
attacked by the land humanoids. However, strategically, Haven denied the use
of modern weapons so as not to expose the humanoids to such technology. The
team fled and was separated from Stephanie. I have received an initial
report that Kar'ral was caught in some kind of trap which began to pull her
underwater. I will follow up on the report from Dr. Raven or Dr. Teena.
I learned that the water team faced a potential storm front. Other than
that, I have no reports as to the success of the negotiations of the water
team.
Then things got worse. Apparently, some other type of alien vessel "feeds"
on this planet. From what I observed, they apparently feed on something in
the water, possibly even the water beings themselves. The water beings did
request our help, so maybe this is what they meant. This unidentified alien
vessel demanded we withdrawal and declared juridiction over the planet. They
proceeded to attack the Hermes damaging our transporter systems allowing only
one transport at a time.
Almost immediately, the aliens entered the planet's atmosphere and began
firing some kind of weapon into the water. Sydney, Glenborne, and Donan were
key componets on the bridge keeping me abreast of the situation. Their
calmness and reactions were commendable. Donan continued to fire on the
vessel while Sydney and Glenborne beamed the away team members up one at a
time, beginning with Kar'ral who was caught in the trap.
After beaming up two of the water team, Raven and Pavlor, the alien vessel
destroyed the boat. Since Beth and Beeg are still in the water, we are
unable to establish a lock on them. Beth and Beeg are still down in the
water and we don't even know if they're alive.

We have been documenting the weather activity in the Varel system. We began
at Varel 4. The weather activity was pretty strong, and I might say
fascinating. I checked out some of the data coming from the planet when we
first arrived. It was very interesting.
While we were still documenting Varel 4, we received a distress call from
Varel 2. It seemed to be coming from a Starfleet shuttle. The Hermes went
to investigate. The Captain assembled an away team. Haven led the team
consisting of Haven, Karral, Beeg, Teena, Pavlor and I.
The weather activity was growing increasingly worse on Varel 2. The Captain
decided that it would be a better idea to avoid a direct ship to surface
transprt. Ensign Pavlor piloted a shuttle to bring us closer to the planet,
and we beamed down from there.
Karral stood watch and surveyed for danger. Beeg kept scanning the storm
system. When we located the shuttle occupants it was decided to get back to
the shuttle as soon as possible. The storms were kicking up harder. The
wind increasing rapidly, and the lightening was worsening.
The AT worked together to maneuver the shuttle occupants to a safer beam out
site. When we got there the AT was beamed up. Everyone that is except me.
I don't really know what happened next. I remember something about a twister
ro something coming towards me. The winds were intense. The next thing that
I remember is opening my eyes to see Rick standing over me in sickbay.
I have checked myself thoroughly over and I can't find a single thing wrong
with me. I feel fine except for the memory loss. Was I knocked out? I
don't know. I think that I will have to talk to the Captain before I will
ever know what happened to me.

During our mission two days ago, Raven asked me to take over in sickbay while
she was preforming her duties as acting CO. Plus she has been busy with crew
physicals, so I will do my best in her absence & hope that the trust she has
shown in me is warranted.
I have been monitoring our new patient in sickbay for the last twenty four
hours. I have made the sea creature & it's survival my number one priority. I
haven't left it's side, not even to eat.
Something happened last night when I was at the med console, in fact a few
things happened last night. My back was towards the tank & as I was checking
the temperature levels on the water gauges, I heard a voice, small &
pitiful,"help me, please!" I realized that I hadn't really heard the voice
but I had heard it in my head, telepathically. I turned & looked into the
tank, our new patient was conscious & looking straight at me.
I medscanned our guest & I couldn't believe it! Then I checked the computer
diagnosis before I could believe what I just discovered. Why didn't I catch
this before? It turns out that our guest is a she & on top of that, she's
pregnant.
I looked into the tank & saw what a beautiful creature she really was & how
fragile she seemed. She had big, sad, sea green eyes, hair that flowed
beautifully around her, red in color. Her mouth was was small & pouty, a
dainty turned up nose. Her tail waved slowly & easily in the tank.
I'd read about sea creatures in old mythology books back on Earth when I was
in Starfleet. Could this gorgeous being be one of those wonderful magical
creatures?
She pressed her hands up on the tank glass as if trying to reach me."Please
let me go home." A tiny tear trickled down her cheek & then another tear.
What were those tears made of? They were of a substance heavier than water
for they sank to the bottom of the tank & dissipated. The tears glowed as
they began to run down her face. I grabbed my tricorder & started to scan the
tank when I heard that voice in my head again. "Please I want to go home." I
kept scanning, adjusting the sensor variations. Then I
heard this horrible screeching sound, high pitched & piercing it seared
through my head. I looked up to see the sea creature staring at me, eyes
evil, malevolent. I grabbed my head, the pain was so intense, I couldn't
stand the pain...........that terrible pain! The room started spinning, then
I lost consciousness.
The next thing I remember is waking up on a biobed, our new nurse by my side.
She said they had found me on the floor by the tank. I asked her how the sea
creature was & she told me that she had given her 10 cc's of the sedative
Quadroline, because the creature was in such an aggravated state.
After assuring our nurse that I was fine, I returned to the room where the
water tank stood. I looked at the sleeping creature. She looked absolutely
beautiful & as innocent as a new babe. I felt this terrible chill go through
my body, I remembered an old saying, "someone just walked over my grave."

to lower their shields in order to activate their weapon. Lieutenant
Commander Haven led an away team with a new tactical officer, Ensign Donan,
and our Chief of Security, Lieutenant Kar'ral and beamed aboard their ship
when they lowered their shields in an attempt to take control.
At first, communications were silent as I began to suspect the worse. Then,
Haven conveyed a victory as he prepared to have the ship's leader convene
with me on the Hermes. I am pleased with their performance. Luckily, no one
was hurt. I am on my way now to meet with them in transporter room 2.
During this time, another away team, led by Lieutenant Commander Raven,
beamed back to the planet's surface. Apparently, Stephanie remembered a
water vehicle of some kind that simply needed repair. The two of them along
with our science officer, Ensign Glenborne, quickly located and repaired the
boat. Meanwhile, our new Engineering officer ::Rick pauses for a moment as

::Lt. KarÆral is on board the alien ship. As she waits for the results of the
negotiations, she dictates a log into her personal recorder::
The Hermes has encountered an alien vessel which apparently comes to this
planet to hunt for food. Unfortunately, the food they seek is the senitient
lifeforms that have asked us for protection. After scanning the alien
vessel, Haven was able to determine that they were forced to lower their
shields each time they used their ôfeeding beamö.
All attempts at communication with the ship failed. So an away team was
formed with myself, Ensign Donan, and Haven to beam over to the alien ship
and attempt to take control. It was our intention to stop the aliens from
hunting and encourage them to talk to the Captain. Haven directed me to find
their command center. Once I located it, we headed there quickly, hoping to
avoid any resistance.
When we reached the bridge, we discovered three of the aliens. Haven
approached one of them and began speaking with it. What has followed can only
be described as a very tense situation. The aliens are understandably
suspicious of us. Several attempts to get their Captain to talk to ours
failed until finally
the alien Captain agreed to beam over to the Hermes.... on one condition:
that we stay on board the vessel as..... ::she searches for an appropriate
word:: insurance for the alienÆs safety.
::KarÆral looks around the alien bridge::
Currently, we are at best at an impasse with these aliens. The one that
stayed on the bridge with us has instructions from its Captain to kill us if
something goes wrong. IÆm prepared to fight my way out of here if that
happens. There is no way that KarÆral, Daughter of Jahtan, is going to end
up as the main course on some alienÆs dinner plate!

We are currently in orbit around Aguaria with the leader of the sentient
water creatures on board for negotiations. After beaming up to the ship, I
learned that after our arrival on the planet, an alien ship entered orbit and
after doing damage to the Hermes, they began firing on the water creatures.
Apparently, this is an occuraence that has been happening frequently and is
the reason for the distress call we received from these people.
Although I am unclear as to what exactly transpired, I am aware that we
presently have the captain of the alien ship on board as well, and Captain
Semino is going to attempt to negotiate a cease fire amongst these different

scientists at Starfleet to choose a suitable name.

During my duty shift awhile ago, I was immediately sent to work on

transport at a time. I managed to divert enough power, and repair just
enough pathways to allow up to six to transport...which was enough. Then
just as I was about to concentrate on repairing the Transporters completely,
the Captain Called me to the bridge. Apparently the Captain had recently
beamed down another away team to intercept the one currently
somewhere beneath the ocean, and I was ordered to keep a watch out for them.

The transporters were finally fixed. Our new ensign, Duster (the one with
the funny hat) had finformed me that we could only transport six or seven as
long as we don't push things. I informed the Captain of this development.
Haven had found out that the aliens are using some sort of feeding beam that
could only be activated if the shields were down. An AT consisting of Haven,
Kar'ral and Donan were transported to the ship to negotiate a meeting with
the captain of the alien vessel.
We had also found the reamins of a badly damaged water vehicle. Glenborne
and I informed Semino that if the boat was repaired, perhaps it could be used
to get Beth and Beeg out of the water. I was sent on another AT with
Glenborne and Stephanie. Glenborne fixed the boat while Stephanie kept the
approaching land beings from harming us. I tried to get a fix on Beth and
Beeg, hoping that they would be in the same area that we dived from before.
After much ado about who would stay on the land and who
would go in the boat, we finally got everyone into the boat and went to save
Beth and Beeg, who were in danger from being attacked from a shark.
When we got to the ladies, we found that the leader of the water beings was
with them. We had him transported aboard the ship to sickbay, where Teena
was waiting with an aquatic tank suitable for the being.
Back on the ship, I had discovered that the AT had stayed behind on the ship
while the alien captain was being transported to our vessel. I am in charge
of the bridge for right now while the captain meets with Captain Angel of the
JD Bubba.

Teena has informed me that the water being is female and pregnant. I have
done a medscan on her. She is what humans would have called the end of the

mother. This stress could do harm to her. I will inform Beth to help us out
with this one since she is able to communicate with the leader. Also what I
find strange is that Teena was able to make out that message from her. The
water beings have a language that cannot be
decoded by the universal translator and it may take several hours before
they do.

DUTY LOG
Computer, open duty log, authorization Carraya 4.
Computer > Duty log open.
The Away Team has returned safely from the alien ship, the Bubba. The
Captain of the Bubba had beamed over to the Hermes to talk to the Captain,
who was interested in opening up negotiations between the Bubbians and the
water people they hunted. These aliens were apparently unaware that the
people they seemed to relish so much (no pun intended) were actually
sentient.
While on their ship, I attempted to discover why they were so intent on
hunting and killing these innocent creatures on the planet. The alien named
Tawn explained to me that they prefer meat and hunting is the only way they
know of to get it. I asked about their replicators and the aliens seemed
momentarily confused. Apparently, they do have replicator technology but for
some unexplained reason, they did not use the replicators to make food. In
fact, they seemed completely unaware that it was
possible to do so.
Apparently, the Captain had also discovered this fact during the negotiations
because soon after that Ensign Duster beamed over to the ship. He told me he
had orders from the Captain to adjust the alien's replicators so that they
would produce food. Once he had done so, I attempted to get the aliens to
try the replicator. They seemed very hesitant.
I suggested a food item that I find to be very delicious: Targ.
Unfortunately, I made a grave mistake by suggesting this because the aliens
reacted very negatively. Apparently, their culture requires them to eat only
water creatures because this food is considered to be "clean".
Ensign Duster suggested that I replicate some of the water creatures and let
the aliens sample it. I thought this was a very good idea, and proceeded to
do so. Again, the aliens seemed very reluctant to try it, but they finally
gave in when I offered to eat some as well. I was surprised to discover that
it tasted like terran chicken!
I believe the aliens were surprised that the replicator food tasted so good
and finally began to realize that the replicators could provide an adequate
substitute for the real thing. I'm not so sure they will stop hunting
altogether, but at least they have agreed to stop hunting at this particular
planet.

I met with the leaders of the alien vessel and the water beings. Apparently,
the Bubbians found the water beings as part of their diet. After serving
them drinks, they were suprised to see our replicators could make food. Our
sensors indicated they had replicator technology, so it didn't occur to me
that they would use it for other purposes. Apparently, they use them to make
weapons. I offered my assistance in having one of our Engineers help program
the replicator to produce food as well. This
turned out to be an amiable solution to feeding on the helpless water
beings.
Well, then it turns out that the water beings were trapping the land
inhabitants as a sport. They didn't realize the the humanoids were also
sentient. Having adequate food supply, the water beings agreed not to hunt
any longer, and Raven led an away team to dismantle the traps.
Beeg is now gathering scientific data to see what mining negotiations we can
begin.

The Bubbians have finally come aboard the ship. In a conference with the
Captain, myself, Fst. Lt. Beeg, and the water leader, we have found that the
Bubbians' replicator hasn't been working for some time. They are a
carnivorous race and since the replicator quit working, they have resorted to
hunting. We sent Duster aboard their ship to fix the replicators so they
could stop hunting the Aguarians.
::starts humming "The Age of Aquarius":::
We had also found out the reason behind the traps that Kar'ral had gotten
herself caught in. Apparently they were used by Aguarians :::"when the moon
is in the seventh house..."::: to trap the land people. An AT was assembled
consisting of me, Teena, Glenborne and Pavlor to go down to the planet and
disassemble the water traps. Stephanie soon joined us afterwards to help us
in case we were attacked by the land people again. Glenborne had discovered
that the traps were surrounded by an electronic
field that would activate when the trap was being dismantled or if anything
was trying to escape. The traps proved to be a little tricky to dismantle
but we managed to get a great deal of them deactivated.
While we were dismantling the traps, a land child got himself caught in one
the traps. Glenborne freed the child and managed to get himself electrocuted
in the process. Teena took care of Glenborne while I treated the child
forthe abrasions he received while being in the trap. Luckily he was not
electrocuted. I gave the child a hydrocortisone hypospray to speed up the
healing process. None of the land beings saw this so this was in keeping
with the prime directive. The land people, however, were
grateful for us freeing the child that they presented us with gifts of food.
We accepted them so they would not be offended.
Back on the ship, Pavlor sent a gravitational pulse down to the planet that
would dismantle the traps and we destroyed them from the ship so they would
never be used again. The few traps that we brought up were sent to along
with Pavlor to engineering to study the designs on them and to insure they
would be destroyed later.
The Bubbians were sent on their merry way with fixed replicators so they
could have all the meat and fish food they want without harming others. The
water leader ::and love will steer the stars:: was sent back to planet and we
are on shore leave.

I began my duty shift in Main Engineering and managed to finally restore
all power to the transport systems. I immediately informed the bridge and
began work on the following reports for Ensign Pavlor. While repairing them
I made a few personal adjustments which I am not sure Chief Pavlor would be
aware of and need to make sure she knows about them.
Just as Chief Pavlor walked in I was called back to the transporter room
to update the replicators aboard the Bubba. After reaching the Transporter
room I was immediately beamed to the Bubba where the other Away Team had been
stationed. I informed Lieutenant Karral of the Captains orders and got right
to work on the Bubba's replicators. After a few minutes of twiddling around
with them and programming some simple command pathways into them the
replicators were ready to dispense food.
Lieutenant Karral decided to attempt and recreate the water creatures
with the replicators and the Bubbonians appeared to see this as a
satisfactory alternative. We all then returned to the Hermes, and I returned
to Main Engineering.

I have just arrived back from an away team mission on Laguaria. Raven,
Pavlor, Beeg and myself were sent to survey the water areas fo the planet.
It seemd that there were some valuable minerals there that Starfleet wanted
to mine. We were supposed to verify the minerals, and then start a dialogue
with whomever the minerals seemd to belong too. They were good intentions,
but they were totaly hindered by the whole layout of the planet.
Raven, Beeg, and I were forced to wear a protective environmental water suit.
The water was freezing and it contained some very hazardous chemicals. We
all had a limited amount of oxygen. Pavlor had constructed a boat that would
assist in the operation as well as act like a communication array from the
water to the Hermes. It seems that the water affected our communications and
we would not have been able to communicate with the Hermes without the boat.
Beeg began searching the water with her scanners. I started to explor the
surroundings. The water formations were stunning. Upon examining one of
them I saw someone or something. I followed it and then tried to talk to the
water creature. It turned at that this was the leader for the water
inhabitants. As I talked to the leader Raven, our away team leader, came
over to find out what information I was being able to get.
While we were still talking something happened on the Hermes. I later found
out that it was something that happened TO the Hermes. Then something began
firing at the boat. We all tried to make it back to the boat, but I was
caught up on some sea weed. Raven and the water creature tried to help me
break free.
I asked the water creature to come back with us. Raven and I headed back to
the boat while I talked to the creature. Raven must have been further ahead
of me than I thought because the next thing that I know Raven and Pavlor were
gone. The boat was blown to bits, and Beeg and I were still in the water now
alone except for the creature.
Beeg continued to scan the areas. She tried to gather as much information as
possible. At this point I started to talk to the water leader again. I was
able to get quite a bit of telepathic dialogue from him. He told me about
the Feeders. Apparently the people that were firing on the boat had to be
the ones that wanted to feed on the water creatures. I was finally able to
convince the water leader to come with Beeg and I back to our ship.
We headed for the shore as I began to run out of air. Beeg shared her oxygen
with me for a while so that I wouldn't lose consciousness. Just as we got a
little closer to the shore a lark shark like fish came after us.
I heard a tap from my comm badge from Raven. They had found some sort of
underwater vehicle and then rescued Beeg and I. The water leader consented
to join us and we all beamed up top the Hermes. Once aboard the water leader
and myself were beamed to sickbay. The water leader was placed into a water
tank that is comaptible to his regular climate.
I have just returned to my quarters after being checked out by the medical
staff for any ill effects of the experience. It seems that I am alright.

A conference was held between the water creature that returned with me to the
ship. An Away Team was able to infiltrate the ship of what the water
creature called "the Feeders". The Feeders leaders were brought aboard the
Hermes for a conference to see if some sort of peace could be made between
the races.
I arrived at the meeting halfway through the negotiations. All seemed to be
going well. The feeder creatures seemed to care a lot about thier stomachs,
but I think that the Captain was able to establish the validity of the water
people as having rights and that they weren't just supposed to be a food
supplement. I know that this pleased the water leader.
It was discovered that the water people set traps for the land creatures.
The water people were unaware that the land creatures were sentient, and
after the leader was told he/she all too happily agreed to talk to his people
about that.
I walked the leader to the Transporter room to be beamed back to its planet.
I had established a sort of friendship with this creature. I owed him/her my
life. I would have stayed tangled in that seaweed if it weren't for him/her.
I will miss him/her.
I then reported to the Bridge. As soon as I arrived Captain Semino turned it

to any one but himself. I guess some people are just too self absorbed to
understand the existance of others.
I did have to break up a domestic squable between Ens Julon the husband
and Ens Julon the Wife. I don't think I'll ever understand the Muldonion
prosess of marrage, I mean to be joined with another being is all well and
good but to have your minds joined so you can share thoughts is another
thing... I don't know about any of the other memebers of the crew but I
wouldn't want my wife knowing "everything" I do and think. Sometimes I feel
the best marrages are ones that have a little disgression, but
then again I'm not the counsellor so I'll keep my oppinions to myself.

I just returned from an away mission to the Bubbian vessel. I found
their habits to be overly disgusting. The consuming of sentient life forms
is not smiled apon by StarFleet or my own morrals. I also have to note that
I am not sure that we did the right thing over there. We gave aid to what I
see as the enemy, and that is not acceptable, let alone the fact that we
altered their tecknoligy... we know nothing of this race, so would that not
be a violation of the prime directive?
I did however get something constructive done... I made a move tward

I served on the away team to the planet Agauria to dismantle traps set by the
Bubba. We were successfully disarming the traps & gathering them for
transport back to the Hermes when the land creatures, that occupy this
planet, came to observe our actions. I was immediately suspicious & expected
some problems. I am happy to report that they were only curious about us &
actually very pleased that we were getting rid of the traps that had served
to only harm them. They brought us gifts to show thier
gratitude & I think that when we left this planet, we left behind some new
friends.
While we were disarming the traps, Glenborne was shocked & knocked
unconcious. I administered 10 cc's of Leporazine for resuscitation. He was
up, with vital signs readings normal within a short time, no burns or after
effects, I think maybe those new regulation Starfleet boots are better
insulated than the old ones.
Glenborne has proven to be a fine officer & a credit to our crew. He has
since then been promoted to Ensign & I couldn't be happier for him. He
deserves this promotion, he is dedicated & responsible, in my book, he's one
of Starfleet's best.
I am currently working on the physical evaluation of LtnKarral. She is in the

I'm sure will make fine additions to my staff. Ensign Storm has already
impressed me with his quick thinking and willingness to go above and beyond
the call of duty. His experience in tactical training should be very helpful
as well. Ensign Sulu seems equally enthusiastic although perhaps a little
uncertain. I have not had a chance to observe his
performance but I am confident he will do well. Today he was called to the
bridge, I can only assume in order to take the helm.
Both Ensigns have been issued standard phasers. I have also made it very
clear to both of them that I want the phasers set on stun at all times. I
explained to them that I fully intend to follow Starfleet's regulations,
especially the one that states "shoot to kill only when necessary." Both
Storm and Sulu acknowledged their understanding and I expect to have no
problems with either of them.
The Hermes is currently orbiting Sintari-5. We are here in answer to a
distress signal from the USS Montgomery. Apparently, a shuttle of theirs had
been on a deep space mission and had disappeared. An Away Team has been
assembled to go down to the planet to try to locate the missing shuttle.
LtCmdr Raven has been placed in charge of the Away Team because she has some
familiarity with this planet. I am concerned about her earlier behavior,
however. When the Captain announced that Sintari was our

Sir may I speak to you a second. We may be able to snatch the proverbal canary
right out of their jaws.
::Seeing the captain nod,but noticing his quizical look at his statement::
Sir I may have a plan. I suggest as a show of good faith we advise our
adversary that we will shoot all of our photon torpedeos and will be without
our hardest hitting weapon, this will also buy us some time.Wait sir let me
explain we wont really be shooting all of our torpedoes.Since we cant lower
our shields to send another away team but with shields up we can fire
weapons, I propose that we take some of the casket torpedoes intermix them
with the regular torpedoes and fire them off, with personal inside
the torpedoes. This will still leave you with torpedoes. The casket torpedoes
already have a rude guidance system, have them program to move past the
planet then back and enter the atmosphere. The personal need to be outfitted
with high pressure suits and parachutes. And if we can suprise the Sentari and
get back our personnel then you will be free to engage the other vessel. And
if the records in the computers are correct thier was only an ion trail no
sign of debris so if the Montgomeries shuttle is still
operable we can snag it and be back here before you know it.....
::Releasing he needs to take a breath he stops for a brief moment::
And since it is such a high risk mission I volounteer..........Well sir what
do you say?

:::brings out a PADD to write this log while sitting in a small cell::::
I never thought I would be here again. The Hermes responded to a call from
the USS Montgomery. It seems they have lost a shuttle down in this system.
I waarned them that we couldn't go here, but they thought it was safe because
the old crew had destroyed the power generators. I guess Kitt didn't destoy
them as well as we thought.
The AT (Myself, Beth, Donan, Kar'ral, and Teena) were immediately taken
prisoner. We have not found anyone from the Montgomery. And the Sarbei have
taken over Donan's mind. Very clever. They took over the mind of the one
crew member that we cannot stun with any type of phaser. I know Donan's
reacts violently to any invasion from bacteria or virus. I wonder how long
it will be before it starts reacing to the mind control.
One member of the Sarbei looks very familiar to me. It couldn't be...we
thought he was dead. However, if everything that I had theorized about the
Sarbei shows up positively on Beeg's research ( I had given her the data from
my experiments), it will confirm everything I was afraid of.
I can only hope we can get out of this one. Once Donan throws off the mind
control, I think we'll be okay.

Duty Log SD:9610.17
I began my duty shift this time reporting directly towards Chief Pavlor,
awaiting my duty today. She informed me that I was to run a diagnostic on
the Auxilliary Life Support systems, throughout the ship. I immediately went
to work, and finally got to meet Ensign Stephanie. I asked her to watch over
the console I was at while I went down to repair a conduit manually. While
there I ran into Chief Pavlor again, but she was a little confused as to who
she was and to where she was. I called both
Medical and Security personnel to help remedy the situation. Once Ensign
Storm got down to my position I released Pavlor to him and headed back to
Main Engineering. With our work done Stephanie asked me if I wanted to go
and get something to drink with her.
Duster>Computer please send my finalized report on the Life Support systems
to Ensign Pavlor, and send her my best wishes.

Captain's Log, Stardate 9610.20.
Our away team that beamed down to the planet's surface to rescue a lost
shuttle, was taken hostage by the Sarbei. Suddenly, the Sarbei ship
appeared, and threatened to kill the away team unless we surrender. I
refused, and the Sarbei made it appear as though they killed my first officer
and counselor. We fired on their ship, but they only moved within close
proximity of the landing coordinates on the planet. Any more attacks would
place the remaining away team at risk. Beth contacted me
telepathically, and it was then I realized she wasn't actually dead, that is
was a trick.
Ensign Storm suggested we say we're going to surrender, and show our faith by
launching all our remaining torpedos. He suggested placing an away team
inside of the torpedos so they can reach the planet's surface. Knowing Raven
and Beth were still alive, I asked Haven to lead the away team as we
initiated the plan. Lieutenant Duster made it appear as though our
transporters malfunctioned giving us some more time.
Then, the Sarbei demanded to board our ship realizing we were stalling.
Glenborne, Duster, and Ham assisted here. Glenborne dropped shields, Ham
dispersed enough power to Duster who fired all weapons as soon as the Sarbei
dropped their shields to beam over. With the excellent navigational moves by
Sulu, we were able to disable their ship, while the away teams rescued the
other crew members.
There were no fatalities, and a couple of casualties. I am so proud of the
efforts and bravery of the crew. ::The turbo lift doors open revealing the
bridge just as Rick finishes that statement. Heads turn to see him talking
in the turbo lift. Rick smiles widely back at them as he steps into the
room.::

Duty Log
Stardate 9610.20
Beth and I were taken to room that looked like a laboratory. We had seen
some bodies with sheets draped over them. The bodies appeared to be in a
stasis-like state. When I lifted the sheet, I had found Commader Stiles of
the USS Montogmery under it. He had been going over a mutation over some
time. It seems my theory as right. The Sarbei are assimilating other
species into theirs, much like the Borg.
Just as Beth and I were checking out the condition of Stiles, another Sarbei
had entered the room. It turned out to be the missing crewmember from the
last Hermes AT, Kieyl. Kieyl had fully mutated into one of the Sarbei. He
helped us arm ourselves, and get out of the room. he refused to come with
us, claiming that there was no hope for him now. Beth and I slowly made our
way down the corridor, Beth using a telepathic shield to keep the Sarbei from
finding us. Later, the shield became too much for
her to hold up and she collapsed.
We kept trying to make our way down when we ran into another AT, led by
Lt.Cdr. Haven. Next thing we knew, we were attacked by Sarbei guards. We
killed the guards and got ourselves out of the temple. Beth and Ensign Storm
were transported back to the Hermes (sickbay, to be precise) and the rest of
us made our way back to the temple to find Teena, Kar'ral, and Donan.
We came across the rest of the AT. Donan was bleeding and had some
third-degree burns. It seemed that he had short-circuited the force field on
the cell by putting himself in it. The AT was transported back to the ship
and we are en route to the nearest space station. Beth is in sickbay,
resting from exhaustion.

>Computer, open duty log, LtnTeena
Stardate 9610.22
This is my 1st official log as new Chief Medical Officer on the Hermes. I
must admit I was fine & happy as Assistant Chief Med Officer, but this is
where I am & I hope I can live up to the expectations of Commander Raven &
the Captain.
::::twirls around in the chair:::::
First of all I will send an intership memo to all personal, then I'll check
all the inventory & make sure supplies are ordered. Make my rounds again & I
better call Duster to check out our pulmonary Support Unit, the computer
connections are malfunctioning.
My report is as follows:
Diagnosis for LtcdrBeth:
she is suffering from complete exhaustion, has been placed on a plasma
infusion unit & 10 cc's of quadroline every 6 hours. She is in stable
condition & expected to be up & around within the week.
Diagnosis for EnsPavlor:
upon returning from our mission, I discovered that EnsPavlor had been
unconscious & in sickbay since the day of our capture by the Serbei. After
reading the med report so inefficiently done by Nurse Ratchett, I did a
complete med exam & appropriate tests needed to determine her condition.
After recieving results of all tests, I discovered Pavlor had a high amount
of bacteria present in her blood, which caused her white blood cell count to
rise to 40% above normal. I immediately accessed all data in our
computer to find the cause & identify the bacteria. I am at this time unable
to do so, there are no known matches in our computer banks. I will confer
with Dr. Russell, my old mentor, at Starfleet Academy & hopefully she will
advise me.
EnsPavlor although unconscious is not critical. If she continues to worsen I
will probably put her in stasis.
Diagnosis for LtjgDonan:
after sustaining, what would be considered life threatening injuries to
anyone else, is doing fine. I can't believe this supersoldier's system. His
healing powers are remarkable. Anyone else would be dead or almost dead. The
shock from the force field alone should have killed him. I am happy to say
his eye is almost completely healed. I have been very upset about this case
because I am responsible for a lot of his injuries. I am a doctor, sworn to
help & heal, not to injure. I have prescribed cordeal
drops for his eye every 12 hours. Cordeal drops were very successful in the
treatment of LtcdrHaven's eye injury a few months ago. Donan has been
released from sickbay with a return appointment due in 48 hours.
LtnKarral diagnosis:
Upon return to the Hermes I insisted that Lieutenent Karral report to sickbay
to check out the burns that she suffered when trying to short out the
forcefield using my inkpen. Most of the burns were 2nd degree & we were able
to promote healing with our medical tricorder, administering tralazine for
molecular regeneration of the injured tissue. I also administered hypospray
of Darvazone for pain. She was released from sickbay after appropriate
treatment.
Added notes:
We're all lucky Karrel didn't suffer the massive injuries Donan had endured.
It might have killed her. We Klingons are resilient, but this super soldier
is beyond anything I've ever encountered.

you want to set your lunch on top of her?? Look...you're dripping chicken

Things are not working out over here. I'm afraid I'm going to have to let
you go.
>I'm being fired?
No, just transferred....to Starbase Everest....I know they need another
nurse. i hope thinks work out for you over there.
>Well, now I guess I have time to spend with my favorite foods....and
wrestling with Nauticans..
::thinks to herself:: ~~That explains the wonderful bedside manner~~
::Nurse Ratchet leaves. After awhile, Raven goes over to Beth's bed.:::
I hope you'll forget me Beth. I tried to get her out of here as soon as I
can. I wanted to thank you. You sacrificed your health to keep us safe. I
just hope you come back to work soon. We need you here. ::holds Beth's

I have just gone over the inventory in sickbay. So far, everything looks in
order. The medical files have been checked and doubled checked. I just have
to go over the physicals of Stephanie, Donan, and Glenborne before turning
everything over to Teena. I just looked in on her with a patient. She
shouldn't be worried....she'll do just fine.
There's just a couple more things that I have to finish up. ::looks up to
see Sydney entering sickbay:: I can't believe my eyes. Lt. Sydney has just
walked into sickbay!! She has been gone for about four weeks.
*************************
Sydney has just requested that I perform a physical on her.
:::After some time has passed:::
The physical performed on Sydney has revealed that she has just had a child
in the recent years. Past physical records show that Sydney has never
conceived children before. I have recommended that she go and see Counselor
Bethany Duncan about her feelings about carrying a child and having to give
it up. Also, Sydney believed that she
has been away from the Hermes for four years. Her traveling companion has
been Q. No wonder.
::Looks up to see Random enter sickbay::
And now, for my last task as a doctor. ::Walks over to Random::
Random> Why hello Dr. Raven.
Hello Random. I have an interesting proposition for you.
> Really? What could it be?
Well, if you like, you could have your old job back as Nurse here. But only
one condition: that you keep your clothes on at all times in Sickbay.
> Well, before i come back, there are a few incentives I would like to
have....
HOLD IT!! Before you try to "wheel and deal" your way back into sickbay, let
me give you a few reminders. You are a Ferengi, and being one, you really
wouldn't like to have the Grand Nagus knowing that you are working and
wearing clothes now, would you?
> ::;scowling:: Humans...always trying to ruin the best deals!
Please, spare me the Rules of Acquisition. Remember, we hold all the cards
here!
> Well, then, if you insist.
Then, welcome back, Nurse Random.

Now, all I have to do is write up the latest physicals and I'm off. ::Smiles

While on the planet, Raven, Beth, Donan, Teena and I were captured by the
aliens. Donan started acting strangely and we soon discovered that the aliens
had somehow taken over his mind. After Raven and Beth were taken away, Donan
calmed down some and claimed to have beaten the alien inside of him. But I
still did not trust him and tied him up -- just to be sure.
During the struggle, Teena hit Donan with the only weapon she had -- a pen.
When I saw the pen, it gave me an idea. I thought that if we could use the
metal in the pen as a conductor, it would cause a feedback loop and short out
the forcefield that held us inside the cell. The only problem would be
holding it in the field long enough.
I got the pen from Teena and attempted to create the short by holding the pen
within the forcefield. I knew that I would have to bear the pain of the
burns long enough for the feedback loop to go into effect. However, I was
not strong enough to hold my arm within the field -- the shock threw me back
and I received several severe burns for my effort.
At this point, Donan volunteered to try. I was very suspicious that this was
another trick by the alien to get us to untie him. But Teena and I decided
that we really didn't have much choice. There was no other way -- we had to
trust that Donan had, at least for now, been able to subdue the alien. Teena
untied him while I kept a close watch on him -- ready in case he attacked us.
But he had apparently been telling the truth because he did not attack.
Teena suggested that we try calling a guard and then jump him when he came to
see what was wrong. We tried -- but no one came to our calls. Donan asked
for the pen and I found it and gave it to him. He then walked over to the
forcefield and tried the same thing that I had earlier. I don't know how he
managed it, but he succeeded! At last we were free!
Donan had been hurt badly, but he was still able to walk. We quickly moved
down the corridor, looking for a way out. We entered a door which open into
a large room. It appeared to be a temple of some kind. Just then we heard
voices and, thinking it was the guards coming, the three of us hid. But it
turned out to be a rescue party -- Haven and Edenic had apparently rescued
Raven and Beth and had come looking for us. We then all beamed back to the
ship.

First, I am happy to report that our missing officer, LtJg Sydney has been
returned to us safe and sound. Although when she was taken by Q she was a
LtJg, she had a promotion waiting for her when she returned and is now Lt.
Sydney. Apparently Q had decided for reasons only he can fathom that it was
time for her to appear back at the Hermes. So I can now end that
investigation and close the file on her disappearance. Of course, if the
truth be told, there wasn't much of an investigation. What can a
lowly Security Chief do when someone is kidnapped by an omnipotent being?
Today I attended some training drills which were conducted by the Captain,
First Officer, Counselor and Tactical Officer. I for one believe that this
was an excellent idea. A crew can never be too prepared. Ensign Storm did
an excellent job and was also promoted to LtJg. I highly approve of this
promotion -- he has worked hard and deserves it.

what goes on through out the entire ship...... I will no longer think of
