History:
Maleen was raised on the Caitian as a member of clan Mikan.She didn't really
know her mother M'rri who died shortly after her birth. Her father was a
retired officer of Starfleet and trained her and her brothers in the ways of
the clan as well as Starfleet protocal.J'karrall wasn't a bad father but he
did drive his children to hard in pursuits he thought as fitting for a member
of the clan. Due to her fathers studies all three children learned earth
gymnastics as well as some of the martial arts, however he believed that the
Caitian ones were superior. At age 12 her father started grooming Maleen for
Starfleet originally as a Security officer, as most of the clan entered that
area of Starfleet. However the others he sought to help her training saw she
would do well in Engineering as well. She quickly learned and passed the
entrance exam at the age of 13. At the academy she adapted well to
working with humans and aliens. She originally went into security courses
following the footsteps of her father and brothers. She got pushed into
taking Engineering as well after she showed she could fix most anything that
broke in the combat training. She did however get in trouble a lot at the
academy for she was always snooping into stuff and accessing things she
wasn't suppose to..She graduated in the top quarter of her class and was
placed on
the Hermes to receive further training......

   

A bit on Caitian Society:

We, as Caitians, are a rather unique race in the Federation, being only one
of two feliniod species, as well as one of the founding planets. We are
natives to our world, but there is evidence to link us with the far-off
Kzinti. Most paleoarchaeologists believe that we are the ancestors of the
Kzinti, and it is now accepted that the Preservers are the most likely cause
of our unwitting colonization of the Kzinti Empire. Regardless, we have
evolved
from our fierce ancestors to a society of peace and honour, and as one of the
most respected members of the Federation.
When our species, rendered in Standard as Tillarath pacatus, diverged from
the family line of the Great Cats some 5.6 million years ago, we began a
journey that would take us out of the trees and into the stars. Cait of that
time was a world in which many dangers existed, some of which are still
present, although in lesser forms. The ancestors of the winthari were
exclusively carnivores, whose diet was made up chiefly of our ancestors,
Venator
sollers.
The winthari were not the only hunters. The jungles and savannas of our world
were home to a number of carnivorous species, and we were notably smaller at
that time. Although carnivores ourselves, we were more often than not, prey.
We evolved into omnivores, though, and the increased amount of available food
bolstered our metabolisms, allowing for our increase in size, as well as
expansion of the cranium. Whether tools made for increased intelligence
or intelligence allowed tool use is still debated among the paleoarchaeology
community, but suffice it to say we followed the same evolutionary track as
most other intelligent carbon-based life forms. Our bipedalism took a
somewhat different developmental course, allowing us to return to
quadrupedalism at need, although that, too, is changing.
The first known governmental body on Cait was and is the Clan. The Clan makes
up the foundation of Caitian society and is still the most respected
institution of our world. The first Clan was the Mikan, who today form our
closest link with the past. In their records are the oldest written documents
and the mythologies that have become the basis for Caitian folklore. Other
Clans developed slowly, and territorialism became common, thus developing the
Pridelands.
Clans are highly organized forms of extended families. Clan membership is
ordained by birth, and when mated or, in special circumstances, adopted,
membership in a second Clan is recognized. Today, Clans are the human
equivalent of nationalities, and the Pridelands are countries in their own
right, each having equal representation in the planetary assembly, the
Corr'thaval. There are some eighty-seven Clans currently on record with the
Office of Clan
Recognition, which is responsible for investigating applications for Clan
status and recording the decline of Clans no longer meeting the
qualifications for Clanhood.
On Cait, as on any world, there are some Clans that are, by virtue of size,
economics or political connections, more powerful than the others. There are
currently three Great Clans recognized as world powers; the T'Malla, the
Rr'Vellan and the Hrr'Ashal. It is acknowledged by all that the Mikan could
claim this status at any time, if they so desired, but has pointedly left
themselves out of the political affairs of the planet, choosing to maintain
their warrior traditions quietly.
The T'Malla are the leaders of the Great Clans, known since their founding
for their keen sense for politics and business affairs, and have long been
recognized as the leaders of planetary politics. The Rr'Vellan, which began
and still maintains a tradition as an artisan clan, has, in the last century
and a half, developed a surprising discernment for intergalactic diplomacy
and trade. This is the only explanation for their incredible ascent in
planetary prominence, and it is unclear what prompted such an interest in
off-world affairs. The Hrr'Ashal is the third-ranked of the Great Clans, but
only because of their relaxed attitudes. They are a commercial Clan, also
prominent in law, that has made its mark through planetary and interplanetary
trade. There are rumors that the Hrr'Ashal are less than scrupulous
businesspeople, and rumors of possible illicit trade agreements with the
Ferengi
have only caused them to further withdraw from the public eye. It remains to
be seen whether they will maintain their status as a Great Clan due to some
rather vicious attacks in the Corr'thaval on this subject.
It is always difficult to explain the nature of any society without providing
a basis for comparison. Here, we shall take humans, specifically Terrans, as
the basis for our comparison, since they were the species that brought Cait
into the Federation and they remain one of our most active trade partners.
Caitians are omnivores, although many have taken on vegetarianism in recent
years. The primary consumers of meat currently are the Mikan, along with
a few of their offshoot Clans. The Hunt, our most ancient social custom, has
been outlawed except for religious purposes. The Mikan vehemently opposed
this in the Corr'thaval, but were defeated in a two-thirds vote. The author
must note that upon the outlawing of the secular Hunt seventy-six years ago,
the Mikan have had a religious revival and are now the single most practicing
Clan on Cait.
One thing that caused great confusion upon the meeting of humans in Terran
year 2072 was the matter of sexual equality. We, as Caitians, have practiced
equality among the sexes since before the First Clan. We recognize the
physiological differences between the two, but have never considered the fact
that those differences might make one more suitable for a given task than the
other. This is not the humans way. When we encountered the first human
ship, the UNSS Magellan, we were surprised to find no females on board. When
they explained that only males were allowed deep space duty, we questioned
them on their ethics, which led to some misunderstandings in the first few
years. However, the humans have progressed remarkably over the past four
hundred years, and whatever their prejudices in the past, they seem to have
come over to our way of thinking.
The customs of Cait are rooted in a deep history of honor and respect for
life even by the Mikan, whose ancient oath bonds its warriors to the people
and the planet in ways few outsiders can understand. The bow is our
traditional form of extending respect, although other races have mistakenly
interpreted it as a greeting in and of itself. We have a tendency toward
politeness that rivals even that of the Vulcans, although we make no claim on
logic. We
are an emotionally open and highly social people, to which several offworld
scientists have attributed our long life-span. We are also a physical people,
another thing which caused some confusion to the Terrans. Our race tends to
be what the humans call "touchy-feely", and we enjoy physical contact with
one another. Many who find themselves going offworld for any reason usually
find that they have to pay close attention to personal space, lest they
become involved in an unfortunate misunderstanding.
As to going offworld, there are few who take to it as a career. Caitians have
a profound love of home, and few have it within them to leave it for long
periods of time. We are highly sought after by Starfleet, for our hearing is
much more sensitive than almost all other Federation species and many who are
recruited go into the field of communications. Also, since we are a polite
and loyal people, many of those who do join Starfleet become officers,
and Starfleet has a permanent recruiting office in the capital. Of those who
do join, the Mikan are the most numerous since they see Starfleet as a way to
uphold their oath of protection, and serve as communications or
security/combat troops. But even those who do choose life among the stars
return home periodically, and almost all Caitians retire here.

Personal History:
Turvaine was born on Andor, the oldest of three children. He was born into a
family with a long martial tradition, and, though a medical doctor, seems to
share the warlike attitude characteristic of Andorians. Turvaine is the first
of his family to join Starfleet. His father, Torgon, is a distinguished
swordmaker on Andoria. His mother, Tabessa, is a historian of some repute.
His two younger siblings have expressed a desire to enter Starfleet
someday.

At an early age, Turvaine took an interest in medicine. He studied at the
planetary government-sponsored Andorian Medical Institute, whose applicants
must pass rigorous and highly competitive tests for admission. He earned his
MD studying under Dr. Tarkis, a leading expert in the treatment of radiation
poisoning. During his residency he participated with Tarkis in groundbreaking
studies involving the use of synthetic variants of hormones found in
species that are highly resistant to radiation. Turvaine finished second in
his class. He practiced general medicine at an Andorian hospital for a year
before attending Starfleet Academy. Upon graduation from the Academy, he was
posted as an ensign in the medical department of USS Hermes. Somehow, he was
eventually promoted to First Lieutenant and CMO of Hermes despite his
various...eccentricities.
Dr. Turvaine is reputedly a highly competant medical officer (at times). He
is also reputed to be overly fond of the bottle. His chief nemesis is said to
be Nurse Destiny Desiree "DD" Juggs, a Deltan female who valiantly struggles
to keep nonmedicinal alcohol out of sickbay. Thus far her struggles have been
in vain.

Personal Background:
Carissa grew up much like most children, with her mother and father. Until
one fateful day, when the Borg paid their colony a visit.  Within  a matter
of hours, Carissa's life changed completely. The borg attacked the colonists,
killing hundreds .
Her parents were among the first to die, but young Carissa managed to escape
them, undetected.
Starfleet sent a federation starship to aid the colonists rebuild their
world, and it was then that Carissa was sent to live with her Uncle Saj in
Norfolk, Virginia. It was then that Carissa's infatuation with Starfleet
began.   
Life in Virginia was calm and peaceful.  Carissa was sent off to private
schooling.
Upon graduation, she took the starfleet entrance exam, passed and was
admitted to starfleet academy.

I was accepted to StarfleetAcademy at seventeen.  The first day Iwas there I
applied for a major in Advanced Tactical control. While I wasin Starfleet
Academy I received excellent grades and graduated at the top of myclass. In
a way I was sort of like a mix between Tom Paris and Harry Kim,I lived for
action and loved to play while I still took my work seriously. I excelled in
advanced Tactical Ops. I also took some courses insecurity. In my spare
time I would try to master the game of chess andplay for hours on end in the
Holo-Deck. After my four-year term at StarfleetAcademy I graduated with the
rank of ensign and in the 99th percentile at thetop of my class as you can
see my hard work, determination and my parentsplayed a big role in my
success. I eagerly awaited assignment. WhenI heard the news about being
posted to the USS. Dauntless I was ecstatic andwent on board ASAP. After a
few
months went by I was sent a message fromStarfleet telling me to transfer from
the Dauntless to the Hermes. At first Ididn’t want to leave, I had made
friends with the crew and really had some goodtimes with them I had even
gotten to know the ship more.  But, I do look forward to the new ship andher
crew and I hope it will be as good an experience as it was on my last
ship,one to remember.

Goals for the future:
I wish that one day I will be the captainof my own vessel or at least
head officer, and to do the best job I can. On personal grounds I want to
have many friends as possible, be a chessmater, and live a happy and healthy

Personal History:
Tamlyrre 169 was born on Outpost D while hir mother was working on a
special project for Starfleet. Hir father had been posted to Betazed, but
returned for the first formative years of Tam's life. After deciding that
Starfleet held the most for hir, s/he joined the academy at the age of 16.
S/he graduated in the top twenieth percentile of hir class. After a failed
relationship in the academy with a Bajoran, s/he swore off any kind of
permanent
relationships until s/he could find the right person for hir. S/he currently
has a major problem as s/he's pregnant by one of the male crew members and
s/he doesn't know how to tell him. S/he also has found that there are two
men and one woman on the Hermes and Halifax for which s/he has very strong
feelings, which s/he will admit is love. S/he also has several causual lovers
on the ship, both male and female, and doesn't hide the fact that to hir,
sex is just like food to some, it's necessary to survive.

Facts about Hermats:
Hermats are both gender and enjoy relationships with both males and
females of other species. They can both impregnant a woman, and become
pregnant by a man. Since they are both gender, they use special words for
pronouns. Hir would be equal to her and his. S/he would be equal to he and
she. There is a counsel on the Hermat homeworld that approves of all language
used by both Hermats and used on Hermats. The most recent ruling from the
counsel is
that a Hermat is no longer required to be called shir, but can be instead, be
called sir.
Hermats evolved from feline genetics, rather than primate genetics of the
human race. They have many feline traits, such as ears that can move to pick
up sound the best, eyesight that can adjust to the ambient light, keen sense
of smell, hearing, sight. They have retractable claws, keeping about an inch
out at all times, and sharp, preditory teeth. They have HIGHLY developed sex
drives and are VERY fertile. When they decide to have offspring, two
Hermats will generally come to an understanding, impregnant each other and
both have litters of at least 4 each. Thus the use of numbers rather than
last names to define who a Hermat is. They have great agility, energy, and
strength, but most of that is deceptive because they have very small bones
and slender bodies. They are psi-null but have a racial instinct that some
might consider borderline psi. Given the chance, a Hermat will nap several
times a day, and some have been known to comment about Hermats that just like
a cat, they have that air of independence and that "I'll tolerate you as long

cats have. Some have even speculated that Hermats, like cats, have nine
lives, but Hermats themselves refuse to comment on that, so it is
unconfirmed.
Hermats are not cats, they do not resemble cats as some of the felinoid
races do. They do appear to be humanoid, with a little twist. They do,
however, have a very fine fur, that appears to be skin all over their body.
But unless you look VERY closely AND have it pointed out to you, you wouldn't
notice it. Most humans find Hermats confusing because they are both gender
and flaunt it. If you want to know how that works, just ask a Hermat and s/he

Currently, s/he is in a highly agitated, but not incoherent, state. The
recent events with the Triac, Hubrin, and hir unexpected pregnancy have left
hir with little in the way of personal reserves. S/he is lacking in sleep,
but fears sleep because of the dreams s/he has been having. In hir mind, s/he
is trying to work out just how to handle everything that's happened recently.
S/he is trying to resolve the fact that s/he is love with two men
and one woman and is pregnant by one of the men. S/he is also trying to
learn, very fast, how to be a parent to hir adopted son, J'nax. Other than
that, s/he's in fine health both mentally and physically.

Eyes: Golden-bronze, similar to a cat's with the vertical pupil and eye sight
like a felines.
Hair: Tawny auburn, similar to strawberry blonde only a little more red.
Fur: Same color as his hair, covers his entire body but is very fine and
there is no decernable pattern to it.
Other Physical traits: J'nax has pads on his hands and feet, similar to what
is found on a feline, yet he has full digits as found on a human. His
fingernails are retractable claws, like a cats and he does use them as a cat
would. He still has what would be considered "Milk teeth" by felines or
canines, but those will be replaced by the full teeth of adults. He is as
comfortable walking on two legs or four. He has a long tail with fine fur,
similar to a tiger's tail, but prehensile like a monkeys. His facial
features are a complete mix of human and feline, giving him the ability to
talk, yet keeping the features of the cat.
J'nax also has an alternate form, that of a giant looking like him. This
giant is aproximately 10 meters tall and will grow along with J'nax' smaller
form. In this form, he has special lung capacity to allow for the thinner
oxygen at that altitude. He also loose many of the enhanced senses of his
smaller form when in this larger form.
J'nax considers himself to the "runt" of his people. As he is an orphan, we
shall never know if this is true or not.

Mental traits: J'nax shows a high curiousity and capability to learn. He has
a gift similar to what we would consider telekinses, which he simply defines
as being able to make things move from far away to here or from here to far
away. He also shows the ability to heal bio-matter, as in people, plants,
animals, etc. He has a very low self esteem at this time, but continued
contact with First Lieutenant Tamlyrre and others on the USS Hermes will
help that to grow. He still mourns for his lost people and is confused about
what is to become of him.

A Short History:
J'nax was born in a litter of five kits to his mother and father. He
doesn't know their names, just knows them as Momma and Daddy. Of his
siblings, he remembers his litter-mates as:

He has a recollection of an older litter, but he only remembers that name of
one of them.
Hi'syon - male
J'nax remembers that when he was just weened, the rumors began and made many
frightened. The rumors were of a growing power, one that conquered all and
respected none. He remembers that his Daddy was one that was called upon
many times to keep peace when people would be too afraid to think for
themselves. He remembers that his Momma would sit up late with a single
flame to read over papers, makes notes, and she gave some of these notes to
other
people and then things happened.
Then J'nax remembers when the alarm went out and most of the mommas and
daddys took their children away from the cities and towns and villiages and
began to hide them all over. J'nax was put with his litter-mates in a cave
deep in a hill. Since he was the smallest of his whole city, smaller than
even some of those not yet weened, it was easy for him to sneak back into the
city to be with his momma and daddy.
J'nax rushed into his Momma's arms just when the first of the bombs began to
fall. He remembers her being very angry with him for returning to her and
very scared for him as well. She took him to someplace near the city, since
she couldn't leave to return him to his sibs. It was a very small hollow
under a rock in one of the water pools. She left him with a blanket and food
and told him that he mustn't move, no matter what he heard or saw. She
told him to be very brave and to not make any sounds. Then she put some
smaller rocks around his rock so that no one would be able to tell that
anyone was there.
J'nax then remembers a very long time with lots of screaming and explosions
and fires and the earth shaking. There was a little of the water from the
pool that seeped up to him in his tiny home and he was able to tell when the
ash started to fall from the flakes in his water. When the water turned red
and smelled bad, he didn't drink any of it, but ate the special fruit that
would give him water until the red was gone. When the red was gone, it
was another time, but not as long, until the silence came.
He remembers coming out of his hiding spot when all his food was gone to
look around. He remembers seeing a thick gray and white smoke fill the air
above his small water pool. He remembers the smell on the air and in the
smoke. He called and called and called for anyone, but no one answered him.
J'nax then turned into his giant form to move easier and found that no one
was left anywhere. The cave where his litter-mates were hidden was ripped
open and they were gone. He was alone.
Then he found First Lieutenant Tamlyrre and brought hir to be with him since
he was lonely. From there, Tam brought him to the USS Hermes where he now
lives with Tam.

to the Academy as a Cadet due to the war like nature of his home
planet..Astarius VI. But once he over came this obstacle his dreams were
finally becoming

Personal History:
Tamlyrre 169 was born on Outpost D while hir mother was working on a
special project for Starfleet. Hir father had been posted to Betazed, but
returned for the first formative years of Tam's life. After deciding that
Starfleet held the most for hir, s/he joined the academy at the age of 16.
S/he graduated in the top twenieth percentile of hir class. After a failed
relationship in the academy with a Bajoran, s/he swore off any kind of
permanent
relationships until s/he could find the right person for hir. S/he currently
has a major problem as the father of hir litter, Korik Hawkins, doesn't know
about the babies and isn't in his right mind. S/he also has found that there
are two men and one woman on the Hermes and Halifax for which s/he has very
strong feelings, which s/he will admit is love. S/he also has several causual
lovers on the ship, both male and female, and doesn't hide the fact
that to hir,
sex is just like food to some, it's necessary to survive.

Facts about Hermats:
Hermats are both gender and enjoy relationships with both males and
females of other species. They can both impregnant a woman, and become
pregnant by a man. Since they are both gender, they use special words for
pronouns. Hir would be equal to her and his. S/he would be equal to he and
she. There is a counsel on the Hermat homeworld that approves of all language
used by both Hermats and used on Hermats. The most recent ruling from the
counsel is
that a Hermat is no longer required to be called shir, but can be instead, be
called sir.
Hermats evolved from feline genetics, rather than primate genetics of the
human race. They have many feline traits, such as ears that can move to pick
up sound the best, eyesight that can adjust to the ambient light, keen sense
of smell, hearing, sight. They have retractable claws, keeping about an inch
out at all times, and sharp, preditory teeth. They have HIGHLY developed sex
drives and are VERY fertile. When they decide to have offspring, two
Hermats will generally come to an understanding, impregnant each other and
both have litters of at least 4 each. Thus the use of numbers rather than
last names to define who a Hermat is. They have great agility, energy, and
strength, but most of that is deceptive because they have very small bones
and slender bodies. They are psi-null but have a racial instinct that some
might consider borderline psi. Given the chance, a Hermat will nap several
times a day, and some have been known to comment about Hermats that just like
a cat, they have that air of independence and that "I'll tolerate you as long
as you give me cream and pet my fur when I want you to" attitude that most
cats have. Some have even speculated that Hermats, like cats, have nine
lives, but Hermats themselves refuse to comment on that, so it is
unconfirmed.
Hermats are not cats, they do not resemble cats as some of the felinoid
races do. They do appear to be humanoid, with a little twist. They do,
however, have a very fine fur, that appears to be skin all over their body.
But unless you look VERY closely AND have it pointed out to you, you wouldn't
notice it. Most humans find Hermats confusing because they are both gender
and flaunt it. If you want to know how that works, just ask a Hermat and s/he

Currently, s/he is in a highly agitated, but not incoherent, state. The
recent events with the Triac, Hubrin, and hir unexpected pregnancy have left
hir with little in the way of personal reserves. S/he is lacking in sleep,
but fears sleep because of the dreams s/he has been having. In hir mind, s/he
is trying to work out just how to handle everything that's happened recently.
S/he is trying to resolve the fact that s/he is love with two men
and one woman and is pregnant by one of the men. S/he is also trying to
learn, very fast, how to be a parent to hir adopted son, J'nax. S/he also

BACKGROUND:

Anika was raised in Betazed, attended traditional Betazed schools.
She graduated from the university of Betazed. At the age of 19 during a trip
with her parents to the Santora colony, they were attacked be the Borg. Anika
was assimilated into the collective, her father was killed and her mother
escaped with the help f a resistance group. During the attack of a Borg ship
that entered Federation space, many Borg were found in an escape pod

were severely injured and being cut off from the collective died. Anika
alone survived and thanks to the Medical Staff on Starbase 2 who were able to
reverse most of the Borg assimilation she was able to attend Starfleet
Academy. Anika excelled in her studies at the academy graduating with
honors.
While on the Hermes, Anika confronted a species known as the Kronucians.
They changed her DNA, and now she is part Kronucian. They were also the

but due to a DNA match with Nea Reese and revealed to Reese and Dr. Turvaine
that Reece and Reese are in fact sisters though Sharissa does not yet know.

Applications to the symbiosis commission results in attention from Tevish
Jovian, the most outspoken activist against joined trills in Starfleet. A
debate has been set for Reece to combat Jovian on the matter.
