The transporter pad shimmered with a familiar bluish pattern of lights and
five full seconds later Sean Tarjoto Alpha and Beta appeared with duffle bags
ready. A smile formed on Captain Aarek Dakor, as he stepped forward to meet
the two.
"Welcome aboard." The Captain said.
Beta slung his belongings off his shoulder and quickly made way down the
transporter porch. "Aarek!" The Android bear hugged the Trill with a firm arm
on one side, and another arm with his duffle bag moving with considerable
momentum nearly hitting the attending transporter chief.
"Greetings, Captain Dakor." said Sean-Alpha. The Holographic Tarjoto
Program had materialized out of his holoprojector shortly after the
transporter did so. The Hologram held his bag well below his waistline.
"Greetings, Commander." Dakor responded, moving to him with a pat on his
shoulder. "I thought you were taking a teaching job on Earth."
Alpha moved his eyes slightly away from Dakor and directly at Beta before
responding, "I was persuaded otherwise." he said blankly.
"I figured two First Officers should peev Headquarters off just enough."
said Beta, smiling at the two.
Captain Dakor nodded. "Well, I'm just glad you're aboard. Not everyone has
been having a smooth transfer."
"Indeed." Alpha said, just beginning to follow the Captain and his twin out
the transporter room. "Has there been any report the Buckminster?"
Dakor paused a moment. "I'm not sure. Another Starfleet ship was entering
the Columbia's route...they've been asked to sweep the area and assist. You
could ask Mr. Ripper about those operations."
"They're probably just asking for directions." Beta commented. Aarek
laughed while Alpha continued with inexpression.
Beta looked at Alpha but turned his attentions to Dakor. "So how is Beth?"
"Terrific..although I think I shocked her more than I wanted." Aarek said,
reffering to his proposal to the counselor the other day.
"Indeed." Alpha said.
Beta suddenly changed the topic. "So, where am I living?" he asked the
Captain.
"You..." Dakor looked to the Android, "are on deck five. Suites 501. Al is
on 505."
The three continued down the corridor silent before Alpha spoke up. "I have
read that Commander SpockJ will be serving as our Chief of Security."
"Yeah," Aarek said. "Quite a change, huh?"
"Considering she took a leave for near a year?" Beta questioned. He looked
at the two and then back face forward. "Maybe."
"Ms. Spock is quite an interesting character." Alpha said. He was reminded
fondly of the emotional, fancier haircutted half-Vulcan. He had recognized
her human half as one of the more illogical, rash entities he had seen in his
life. Not that that was bad.
The three stopped at the turbolift, waiting for it to open. They continued
to mind their business until the doors swooshed open revealing newlywed
Lieutenants Smitty and Jana kissing quite determinedly.
The three looked at each other for a moment, smiling.
"Ahem." Beta made a louder-than-usual grunt when he cleared his throat, but
the two continued their work. "Hi." he smiled.
The two broke their kiss and turned to the three officers looking at them
from the outside, but couldn't say anything before the lift doors closed.
"Well that was unusual." Beta said.
Aarek was still smiling and shaking his head. "Not really. The other night
I saw S-Lab 4's experiments."
"Oooh..creepy."
"I would like to see these experiments sometime, Captain." said Alpha,
blankly.
Beta and the Captain smiled to themselves. "It was a joke, Al." Beta said.
Alpha just looked at the two. He faced the other way and the three of them
continued to no particular place.

Aaaahhhh, what a relief! ::flops down in his easy chair:: I never thought
I'd be happy to see temporary quaters! Isn't it amazing? Dont cha think?!?!
Anyways, I'd better get prepared for Jake and Ryan's arrival.
+T+ Smitty to Jana?
<Jana> Jana here!
<Smitty> Hey babe, when ya coming down, the kids will be here in a couple of
hours!
<Jana> I'll be there in a few minutes, I'm still catching up on my logs.
<Smitty> Okay, dont be too long......I'd like to spend SOME time together
before my P A R E N T S get here ya know!
<Jana> Ha ha, hehe........okay, okay....I'll be right down.
::Picks up a PADD:: Let's see here, looks like I been scheduled to move onto
the Halifax next tuesday afternoon. I sure hope my new office is at least as
big as my old one on the Stealth.
((Jake, Ryan and Smitty's parents arrived right on time, as usual....you know
parents! Jakes Birthday party was incredible. They all spent the afternoon
in the Stations best holosuite. I dont really like that Quark guy.
Ferengi's annoy me.))
((Later that evening))........::Smitty walks out from the boys' room from
tucking them in. Jana then goes in and says goodnight to them too::
<Smitty> I hated having to push up the wedding day. I would have liked more
time to prepare.
<Jana> Oh dont worry, it'll be great. I know how you had your heart set on
a traditional old english style one, but there just wan't time to prepare the
holo-program. Did I ever thank you for consenting to a more conservative
wedding?
<Smitty> ::thinks to himself, ya....you she sure did thank me; but then
decides to say.....:: Hey, ya know, I dont think you did thank me. You know
that.....no, I dont think you did. But you can right now if ya want to
::raising and lowering his eyebrows::
((The rest of the evening is history!!!!!! ))
p.s.--Captain, please make arrangments for the wedding to take place before
the Halifax sails. Thanks.

Smitty arrives home from a hard days work to find one Red Rose on the table
just inside his door. "Mmmmm, I wonder who that could be from?"
::he smiles:: "Oh, that Jana......what am I gonna do with her. She always
the thoughtful one, and me, ::shrugs shoulders::, I'm always too busy working
or something......
Walking into the bath area, Smitty calls out, "Shower On!" Soon the room is
filled with the gray mist that only a nice hot shower can provide.
After his shower, Smitty dresses and stops at the replicator on his way out
the door. "Computer?" ::'puter churps:: "One Dozen Telarian Violets
please."
Seconds later, a vase with 12 beautifully arranged Telarian Violets appears
on the floor of the replicator. "There we are, she should like
these.....after all
they are her favorite!!"
Smitty exits his quarters, enters the corridoor and heads toward Jana's
quarters. When he reaches the door, he can hear the sound of Jake and Ryan's
voice on the other side.
::Smitty Knocks On The Door::

Smitty sits at the desk in holosuites "Honeymoon Suite", watching from
across the room as his new wife sleeps soundly in the heart shaped bed. From
the bedroom, you can hear the sounds of the water... crashing on the floor of
the canyon at one of histories most famous landmarks, "Niagara Falls"
He begins to think about his life and how much it has changed over the
years, how Jana had long ago, aspired that Kelan be more than he ever thought
possible.
::He smiles, then gets up and walks to the window overlooking the huge
waterfall. Opening the french doors and walking out onto the terrace, a wave
of mist covers his body and he gets a chill.::
Judging by the way he'd seen Jake and Ryan act around Jana, he knew that
if he could just convince Jana's parents to let Amanda remain with them, the
his life would be truly complete, only because Jana's would be complete. In
other words, if not having Amanda around makes Jana's life incomplete, then
Kelan's life would never be truly complete either. It wasn't enuf now that
his kids were there, but a part of Jana's life wasn't there, and that's what
Kelan hated.
::shrugging his shoulders, Smitty reenterd the room,
closing the door behind him keeping it as quiet as possible::
I guess I'm going to have to try and speak with Jana's parents and see
how they feel. I can only hope my ability to logic with them suffice.

Lieutenant Bongo was busy attempting to catalogue the cargo bay inventory,
as well as any new supplies and equipment coming aboard the Halifax(he had a
lot to do before the ship launched in a few days)when the Kriosian noticed a
large duranium crate with oxygen recyclers on it-as well as some odd noises
coming from the inside-marked "Fragile-Biological Contents".
"Open it up." He said. Not a bit suspicious; but instead concerned for
whatever lifeform was trapped in there.
The subordinate ensigns obeyed, punching in the standard release code as
well as Halifax recieve number, which successfully depressurized and opened
the crate before the dogs lunged at them.
Puppies...lunged at them, to be exact. Six Terran dalmatians.
The six of the small dotted canines scampered around the cargo bay,
sniffing at Starfleet issue boots and jumping on officers and equipment. Some
of the cargo bay personnel were quite happy about them. But Lt. Bongo was not
amused.
"Okay! Who ordered these??" He said, waving his inventory list in the air.
"I want a co-signer now!"
The personnel looked at each other, shrugging. They had no idea who the
puppies belonged to, who had ordered them, and how much they were because
they so cute! Whichever way, Lt. Bongo now had a had dozen dalmatian puppies
scampering around his cargo bay, on his duty shift, unsigned. That was his
problem.
"Where did they come from, Lieutenant?" Commander Sean Tarjoto-Alpha asked.
He sat in a rigid, upright, and formal sitting posture, examining the puppies
lick and play on his office carpet.
Lt. Bongo shifted uncomfortably and responded. "Ah...there's no return
address on the package, sir. And as I said, no one signed for it." Bongo
fidgeted.
"Except you." Alpha said, still watching the puppies expressionlessly.
Bongo flew back at the wall behind him at a 100 kilometers per second.
"M-me?" he asked. His voice squeaked.
"Yes." Tarjoto looked at Bongo. "You were on duty at that time. And it is
your responsibility to catalogue and organize incoming shipments, and sign
for them in the event the claimer is not available. Thus, you are responsible
for these such unclaimed materials. Am I not correct?"
Bongo had completely forgotten about that. "Yes sir. I mean, no sir..ahh,
you're correct." He said, somewhat.
Alpha watched a puppy climb on another and topple over the two sleeping
next to that one.
"Very well." the Hologram said. "Now that this matter is settled..." Alpha
stood up from his desk and moved to the puppies. He picked up one. "How much
are you selling them for?"
Bongo shifted his eyes left and right not sure how to respond. "I'm not
sure, sir."
Alpha looked at the puppy he held, scrutinizing it's spots. "Very well. I
will leave you then to consider the pricing. But I offer you 56 replicator
credits, and 10 latinum slips."
The Kriosian scratched his head.
"For this one." Alpha gestured to the puppy, who was dangling by it's arms.

The doorchime to the door of Commander Sean Tarjoto-Beta chimed nicely in
tune with the Mozart.
"Enter if you dare..." said the Commander, careful not to speak so loud as
to shake the model sea ship he was making, and also careful not to take his
eyes off the creation. Beta lightly lifted off the glue stick from the sail
to watch whoever was entering enter.
In came Lt. Commander Brad Meinrik. "I'm sorry to bother you, sir but.."
"Nonsense." Sean interrupted. He put the cap on the glue bottle.
Brad took a moment to collect his words. "Sir, I'm Commander Meinrik." The
Bajoran extended his hand. "Covert Operations."
"Nice to meet you finally. I hear you and Lieutenant Langan had some
trouble getting here..." Tarjoto looked at the man, shaking his hand briefly.
"Yes sir. We're fine right now...the Sutherland arrived just in time." Brad
said. He moved his hand across the side of his pant leg.
"I'm sorry to say we weren't able to help you personnally..." Sean looked
at the Commander's hand and leg, seeing it stained with glue. He lost his
smile. "Sorry Commander."
"Thank you sir." Brad said somewhat unsure...wondering if he being too
sarcastic or obsequious.
"Well, just because I'm an android doesn't mean I'm perfect.." Sean said,
hoping to cheer the gluey Meinrik up.
"Anyway, sir. I was simply taking this opportunity to meet before the
launching. Thanks for your time."
"Pleasure Commander." Sean nodded. "Don't forget to go see Commander
Alpha."
Brad was halfway outside the door when he said to himself. "What?"

I'm going over these personnel reports with Captain Dakor, and I just have
to say I'm a bit interested from what I've seen. I still need to find some

parts of it ::Smiles:: I'll try not to transmit those.
I've yet to attend to my physical with the Chief Medical Officer. That's

sit down in the lounge and have a happy ol' time drinking my positrons out
with 'em. Like the good ol' days ::sighs:: But, nope. Can't really do that
when you're an XO ::crinkles his nose::
Which reminds me...I don't think Al spends enough time recharging his
power cells. I wonder about the limits of his stoticism at times. He's
so...cold. Understanding but still so...unforgiving ::lifts an eyebrow to
himself:: Hard to believe we came from the same command protocols.
Gee, I've never really examined our relationship this way before. I hope
it's just me growing and not some subroutine malfunction.

Commander Sean Tarjoto-Alpha's holoprojection sat most efficiently in the
XO's chair.
Alpha took his place at the right of the Captain's chair. If you were
facing forward that is. The hologram found himself glancing at consoles and
monitors around the bridge, just to avoid bothering duty watch officers. The
hologram "looked" at a few more consoles, and the information was
subsequently relayed to the Commander's grayish standard Starfleet portable
holoprojector.
A voice, familiar to Alpha, came from behind him. "How's the shell, Al?" it
asked.
Alpha turned towards the direction of the voice. Beta was manuevering into
his chair. "If you are referring to my projector, Beta: it is fully
functional."
"Good." Beta said. He leaned back into his chair, leaving the few feet of
space, interrupted only by the Captain's chair, between them. The Android
continued, "Because your duty shift is over, and I want you to go to the
holodeck with that thing."
Alpha looked at the chronometer above the main viewer. "Very well.
Starfleet proprietary procedure code 22E is now in progress; I will go to the
holodeck." he said. "Transmitting to your arm console is unfinished
business."
Beta watched the main viewer display the starfield and DS9 space station
outside silently as Alpha typed in the transmit sequence. The console beeped
and delivered evaluation reports, power consumption averages, mission status
briefs, intership issues and complaints, the whole bundle, into the arm
console standing closest to Beta.
"Thanks, Al. You're a peach." he said.
The Hologram lifted an eyebrow, and walked off into a turbolift.
Beta leaned forward looking past officers and consoles to find his
counterpart leaving the bridge. "Great!" He turned to his console and
quickly keyed in a bridge command for some Klingon opera.
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
aptain Aarek Dakor entered the turbolift on deck 7. He enntered quietly, and
the only word pronounnced was 'Bridge'.
The lift hummed to life as Aarek was lost in thought. As quickly as he
had entered, he exited onto the split level bridge. The lift stoped on Deck
one, annd Aarek made his was down to the helm console on Deck two. Aarek
enjoyed the split level design of the new bridge. There were twice as many
consoles, twice as manny stations, more spacious, and more..... Aarek could
not find the right word.
There were only three officers on duty on deck. Aarek checked some
readings, and went into the Ready Room complex.
The new ready room area was rather large. There was the traditionnal
ready room, with a small confrencing and foier area added. Sort of an outer
ready room. There were already boxes of padds, and other various objects that
nneeded to be placed. Aarek looked at the boxes annd sighed.
He decided this could wait for later, and Aarek exited the ready room
back onto the bridge. He made his way to the command seating in the middle of
the massive bridge. The seat was larger than his command seating on the
Stealth, and there were more connsoles at his access. Something like the
seating on nthe Defiant.
Aarek sighed. This new ship was amazing. Truly amazing. A chime sounded.
0800 hours. Officers began to trickle onto the bridge.
"Computer, begin Day shift," a junior officer spoke. Lighting channged,
and reports from the previous evening came up on the monotors. Commander
Tarjoto began to review them, and then looked at Aarek.
"Aarek," Sean began. "We have gained much of all we need. We can leave
DS9 sometime later today. Why don't you take a break?"
"I suppose. I'll be on DS9 if you need me."

This takes place outside our currennt timeline. This is a log series I've
been working on for a few weeks now.::
Aarek walked into his ready room, which at the current point in time,
was in shambles. Boxes and padds were strewn about everywhere. He sighed. He
had been putting off "moving in" to his ready room for a long time, and now,
on this Saturday morning, he decided to do the dirty deed. Today he would
clear out and orgnanize.
His ready room, which as the bridge was, was semi-split level. As you
walked in the door, which was on nthe upper portion of the bridge, you walked
into his office area. A desk faced the door, with chairs at the desk, as well
as a couch along the wall next to some shelves.
Moving down, you entered innto a "reception" area of sorts. There was a
small modest lounge area, with coffee table, couch, and two chairs. There was
a replicator in this area, and shelves lined the walls.
Aarek walked to the replicator.
"Hot Cocoa" were his only words. A mug appeared, and Aarek took a sip of
the drink. He walked back up to his desk, and dived into a box that was
there. He rumbled through some padds, placed them away, as well as some of
his files. Aarek paused at the bottom of the box. He pulled a small brass
box. Inside was a midalion.
~I had almost forgotten about this~~ Aarek thought to himself. He looked
at the inscription. It was in Trill.
" traxiealia qurak, dem filav trilesti"
Aarek thought for a moment. " Friends forever, even while apart" Aarek
began to remember a promise he made lonng ago. Before he was joined. He
turned the midalion over. The inscription read "Aarek & Binx"
Why had he forgotten about Binx.........

Aarek had been working in his ready room for a couple of hours when nthe
chime rang.
"come in!" He shouted, annd Commannder Sean Beta walked in.
"Hiya Aarek! Whats up?"
"Oh nothing, just trying to organize some thinngs" he said, placing a
glass statue of a Kriosan tiger on his coffee table. "And you?"
"Nothing really. I was kindna bored. I decided to come up here and
bother you for a while," the anndroid said with a smile. He sat down at
Aarek's desk. "So how's the ready room?"
"Okay. Spacious, not used to having so much space. For a little ship, we
sure allocate a lot of space to everwhere annd everyone."
"yeah, I know what you mean. Al and I moved into our office yesterday,
and we have so much room, and quite a view! Deck four section 2."
"Wow. Jeezsh, I remember moving from the Padmasters office into the
Yeomans/Second Officers Office on the Stealth."
"yea," Sean began. "I remember that like yesterday. It was when
Mokkie..." Both officers went quiet. "...died"
"Yes. Anyway, getting off that subject, what do you think of my
reception area? Hows the decor?" Aarek asked.
"Well, aside from the three unpacked boxes, and the half eaten sandwich
on the table, I'd say pretty good." Sean said, looking down at some padds on
Aareks desk. Just as he looked down, he saw the madalion. "Hey Aarek, whats
this?"
Aarek looked up. "Oh that," he said with a very big smile. "I had
forgotten about that for years. This was, hm how to explain it. A gift from
my best friend when nI was younnger."
Sean laughed. "You were young?"
"Very funny, ha ha ha. Well, before I was joined."
Sean read the front, andn then the back. "From Binx eh? Who is this
Binx?"
"A long story almost forgotten," Aarek said, taking the midalion.
"anyways, I believe you have some training duty on the holodeck, andn I need
to take care of some thingns in my quarters."
"yeah, but you got to promise me something," Sean said.
"What?" Aarek replied.
"You have to tell me about this "Binx" " .
"maybe someday," Aarek said to Sean as he left the Ready Room.
~~Maybe someday~~

Personal Log Entry
Computer, begin log entry.
I am currently settling into my quarters (I am not exactly sure what the
condition of the Halifax is, so if this log does not fit into the time line,
please disregard it). My quarters are suitable, and they even have a large
window. The Halifax is quite different from that of the Stealth. I don't even
know the deck layout.
I still need to decorate this room, maybe in early Klingon. I am quite new to
security, but I believe I will enjoy this position more than that of Tactical
Officer. I do not yet know the crew of the Halifax, and that might be a
weakness.
::Sean2 puts on jumpsuit, and grabs type two phaser::
I do not really know what is going on with the ship' s mission. All I know is
that Commander Sean has left to rescue an away team.

Aarek lays in the bed in sick bay, recooperating from what prooved to be
a strange occurannce. LtJgSandy walkes in to check on the status of her
paitent.
"Hello you, " she says, looking at some monitors above Aarek's medbed.
"How are you feeling?"
"Okay, groggy, a little tired, and my entire mind os foggy. How about
yourself?"
"After hearing that, I can't complain." She says. "You'll be able to
leave here in about two days. Then back to duty in a about a week. "
"Yeah, a weeks paid vacation!" Aarek said with a smile, as Beta walked
into Sickbay carrying a big box. "Beta, I take it you found it?" Aarek
responded, proppingn himself up in the bed, his grin getting larger.
"Yes, but it took me long enough. YOu need to clean up your readyroom.
Stuff is all over everywhere. We've been on the Halifax for almost a month
now, and you still haven't organized things?"
"Call me a procrastinator. Anyway, gimmie gimmie gimmie gimme!" Aarek
said, reaching for the box.
Beta gave him the box, and left. Sandy had left a while ago, and Aarek
was all alonne with his box. He opened it, annd took out a madilion, one he
took out a while ago. He also removes an old book with leather backing. He
flipped through the book, and remembered some of the times that he thought to
be some of the best. When Binx and Aarek were inseperable. Binx was Aarek's
parennts, brothers, friend, everything.
Aarek leaned back into the medbed. He looked into the box and removed a
holo emmiter. He turned it on, and a picture of Binx and Aarek at Zyalara
Falls. He looked at is, turned it off, and layed back down, midalion in hand.
~~What ever happened to you Binx?~~ Aarek thought innto Cosmic space.
~~Why did you leave?~~ ~~When will you be back?~~
Aarek thought these thoughts for over an hour, then drifted off into a
fitful sleep, madilion cluched tightly in hand.

Somewhere on the other side of the unniverse, somewhere where Starfleet
and everythingn as we know it has never imaginned of going, A young person,
wearingn a midalion was ontop of a waterfall.
"Where are you Xalaox*(This is Trill for Best Friend)*?" He shouted
down the waterfall.
"Down here Binx!" Shouted a fimiliar sounding, familiar looking Trill.
Binx heard this, and claped his hands together. He turned translucent,
and joined the waterfall. Within moments, he was his normal self again, this
time at the bottom of the waterfall, standing next to the other figure.
"Where to now?" He asked gently.
"I don't knnow," Binnx replied. "I guess I..." he began, but was
interupted. The midalion began to glow. Binnx looked at it. 'Friends forever'
it read, andn he remembered what had happened, and what he had done. He held
the midalion close to his head, andn he scarsely heard the words of Aarek,
light years, no light cennturies away. He heard and remembered.
"Come on Xalaox, we've got to go somewhere,"
And with that, They dissapeared.

Aarek lay in Sickbay, bored out of his mind. The box and its contents had
lonng been taken back to his ready room, and the only thing that remained was
the Midalion, which he wore around his neck.
Everyone was gone or busy. Things went on without him. People had things
to do, and Aarek felt a bit neglected that he had no onne to show him
sympathy. He planed to leave sick bay tomorrow morning, and finish his off
time in his quarters, but at the moment, he was alone, annd Sandy had posted
security officers at the door. He wasnn't going anywhere.
All the sudden, a cold chill filled the room. A gentle breeze blew, and
with a loud snap, one that Aarek rememberd vividly, a figure appeared. Young,
about Aarek's age, tall, strong. Fearless. He had dark hair, and copper
toaned with a tinge of brownn coloring in his skin. Aarek knew who this was.
"Binx!" Aarek shouted, looking all about him.
And Aarek knew, his friend had returned.

Commander Sean Tarjoto-Beta threw his dufflebag into the runabout, nearly
hitting his Captain.
"YAah! Geezuz Sean..." Aarek Dakor said, his back against the wall and
trying to squeeze into the shuttle without being thwacked by a bag of
personal belongings. "Couldn't you just use the storage comp's like the rest
of us?"
"Sorry Aarek. And no, it's full because of the rest of you already used 'em"
Beta smiled toothily. "I wasn't counting on your sudden appearence into the
runabout. Am I going to get demoted?"
The Other Sean, of the House of Mogh, and very Klingon, spoke up from his
place at the end of the conference/dining section on the aft of the runabout.
He turned from the viewports to face the two, mockingly asking the Captain,
"Should I put the Commander in the brig, sir?"
"Funny." Beta quickly replied. "Keep this up and you'll be demoted,
Lieutenant." He smiled at the Other Sean, seeing the Klingon's eyebrows rise
slightly. "Hey, that reminds me..where's my wedding gift?"
Dakor blinked and shook his head, wondering how the Android could ever
relate a wedding gift to a burly Klingon. Aarek suddenly shivered wondering
what exactly Beta WAS getting for the Wedding. The Trill thought about the
wedding just ahead. Stacey and Kyle, Wife and Husband. An interesting couple,
more than Al and Beta, the Captain thought. Of course, the Human and Vulcan
were getting married. He walked over the Android's sprawled duffle bag and
entered the cockpit, where checking Runabout Seine's
systems was Lt. Kingus Kohn. The Terran concentrated on the diagnostics he
was running, unaware of the Captain's approach.
"Lt. Kohn." Dakor called.
Kingus almost jumped. He quickly set the console on auto and turned in his
chair to the Captain. "Yes, sir?" he inquired.
"I'm hoping the Seine's ready, Kohn...how're all systems?" Dakor said,
looking down at all the brightly-lit controls.
"All runabout systems running at 100%, sir." Kohn said without looking back
to the readings. "Ready to launch at your command."
Continued...
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
Continued...
Dakor thought back running the scenario in his head, making sure everyone
was onboard, everything was packed(especially his toothbrush, the last time
the Captain had gone on a long trip he had forgotten to pack his sonic
toothbrush, and thus found himself having to deal with a whole day really bad
breath aboard a starship of people under rank) "Just a moment, Kohn. I don't
think Commander Alpha is onboard yet."
Kohn frowned, wondering why the Hologram could be late. "Sir, could I ask
what Cmdr. Alpha possibly has to pack?" Kohn knew he'd packed several cases
of Romulan ale-not just for himself but also just in case the wedding
reception found itself out of its own beverages.
A very delicate projector, a weeks ahead worth of paperwork, and a wedding
gift, Aarek thought. He looked back to the Lieutenant and straightened up, "I
have no idea, Kohn. I'll give you the word to launch, Lieutenant, when we're
ready."
Kohn nodded, and Dakor exited the cockpit to see Alpha just ironically
enter. The Trill looked past the Hologram checking the transporter
diagnostics and into the dining room. And saw, even more ironically, that
Beta was nowhere to be seen. Alpha nodded to the Captain and turned back to
the wall console, attracting the Trill's attention. Dakor was about to ask
the Hologram where his counterpart was when someone yelled outside the
runabout.
"And make sure he gets lunch! One doggy bone-and a bowl of Terran chicken
soup! I'm counting on you Brad!"
Aarek stepped forward towards the entrance, and stood at the door. He saw
Beta looking especially worried at a Lt. Cmdr. Brad Meinrik and in the
Bajoran's arms, a dalmation puppy, both leaving the shuttlebay. Aarek waited
for the two to exit before he called to the Android. "You're awfully
concerned for a puppy you haven't even named yet."
Beta looked back at the runabout to the Trill. "It's not the dog I'm worried
about. It's Brad. You've never seen that thing hungry."
Aarek laughed and watched the Android come up to the runabout.

The wedding was a real blast-and I'm wondering if Risa will be enough for
Stace and Kyle ::smiles:: It's good to see those two finally in some sort of
holy matrimony, just something HAPPY. Things in this chaotic universe have
been just that...chaotic. Lately I've been noticing Kohn wearing 20th century
Terran clothing, the Captain's spots looking sickly pale-which is really
weird, since for some odd reason you can never see Aarek's spots in the first
place-and a distress call. I wasn't even there to
see it. Or even hear it. Who would have thunk: a Dominion attack on
civillian ships, in the middle of Stacey's wedding? Okay, maybe the Dominion.
While I was aboard the Stealth I snuck around the corridors a bit, checking
things out and using Al's projector for my own evil whims. It's a pretty good
camera that thing. Anyway, the place has changed. I saw different
crewmembers, a different paintjob, and MORE PETS. With NAMES. Makes me feel
sorry for poor....little doggie with no name. ::sticks his tongue out at
himself:: I hope Brad's taking care of that pup-hope he wasn't too frightened
in the whole mess...hope he got fed.
Ah well, here's a personal note to myself and any fourth-dimensional being,

Congrats to Stacey and Kyle-those crazy kids finally who wised up and got

I walked in to Sickay and started to check on my patients. I thought to
myself, "I need to get more sleep. Those dreams have really been bothering
me. It's been 10 years now, why do I get those dreams still?" I get some
sleeping pills and put them in my pocket. I went around to every patient. I
yawned continuously. As I got to my last patient, Ensign Dikeani came in to
begin her shift. She watched me for a couple of minutes as I read the report.
"You need to go back to bed." she told me.
"I know. I'll go as soon as I'm done here." I replied. "Okay, here." I
handed the report to her, "you need to watch that Ensign on table Three."
"Okay, get outta here, go on." As she shoved me out the door.
"Well." I walked to my quarters.
Unfortunately, I couldn't just fall asleep, my body had already gotten up.
My eyes were the only ones who wanted to go back to sleep. I decided that I
would decorate my room and tidy it up. I figured that that would make me
tired because I hate cleaning. I replicated a Southwestern style painting of
a desert landscape and hung it over my bed. I then replicated an exact
replica of a lone horse sculpted by Remington, a famous sculptor from 19th
century America. The last thing I did was have a rug
replicated. It was an Indian rug from about the 16th century and it was
beautiful. I put it on the floor and decided that my quarters were complete.
I started to unpack a box full of stuff from the Academy. Sure enough, I
found what I was looking for. I climbed in to my bed and was asleep as soon
as my head hit the pillow.

Aarek could not believe his eyes. There, standgin by his bed, was his
life long best friend. The only friend who didn't care about annything but
being there.
"Well, it's actually you," Aarek began. "I can't believe it."
"Nor do I," Binx said, with a grin. "I was billions of years away,
with..." Binx, began.
"Yes?" Aarek asked, sitting up in his bed.
"Well, we have a tiny problem," Binx began. "And I'm not quite sure how
to tell you about this and deal with it."
"What do you mean?" Aarek said, looking him in the eye.
"Oh nothing," he said. "Now tell me about you, and whats been
happening."
Aarek and Binx spent hours talking. Aarek had told him of joining, and
then going to the academy. Then working his way to captain. The past 7 years
went like that, annd thingns were done with.
"Why are you in here?" Binx asked.
"Well, something I didnnt tell you," Aarek said. "Something that
happened to me a few years ago. Something that changed my body forever."
"Which is?" Binx asked.
~~Can you hear me?~~ Aarek thought.
~~You have telepathy?~~ Binx thought, but rather loudly. His voice
echoed in Aarek's head like a thunder bolt.
"Yes, but you donn't have to be so loud about it." He responnded,
vocally.
"Wow" Binx said with a smile.
Aarek then went through the story of how this was acuired annd
everything that has happened to him because of it. He told Binx how Tyven
must have triggered some dormant funnctions in his physiology, and somehow,
Aarek too began to evolve. It seemed that Aarek was represenntingn somehow
the next step in Trill evolutionn.
"Now whats this big problem you told me about earlier." Aarek asked.
"Well, I sorta made..... well I kindna... um aw jeezsh, lemmie show
you."
Binnx dissapeared in a flash then returned with, what appeared to be an
exact duplicate of Aarek.
"What the hell..." Aarek began.
<< TBC >>>
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
"What the hell..." was all Aarek could say. By this time, Aarek was on
his feet, looking at Binx and the "other" Aarek. He understood nothing,
looking at the new Aarek.
"YOu had better have one helluva explination about this one Binx, this
is the most irresponsible, stupidest, outrageous, careless thing you have
ever done"
"Thats why I did this Aarek," Binx said.
"Whats going on?" Aarek II asked, like a dumb blonde in a confusing
situation.
"Did what? You made a copy of me? So this is why you left our
friendship, so this is why you ran away!?" Captain Aarek said, in full
Captain mode.
"Where am I?" Aarek II asked again, in the same stupid remarks.
"I didn't mean for this to ever go this far," Binx began. " Its just
that..."
"NO! This has nno explination! This is a total, irresponsible, lack
of..."
"WHo are these peo--" Aarek II Began.
"Shut Up!" Binx and Aarek shouted back, with Binnx waving his hand.
Aarek II now stood like a braindead vegitable.
"Will you at least let me explain?" Binx said calmly.
"Try it, like it will make a difference. This was just so irresponsible
of you, I can't understannd any reason that would drive you to do something
like this." Aarek said.
"Thats exactly why I did this. When you went through that stupid program
and became joined, you became so, so, hard core, full of RESPONSIBILITY and
DUTY that the things that were important to you and me were gone. Nothing we
ever did before would find a place in your life now. But with that madilion,
I knew that someday you would be somewhat of the old Aarek I knew.. I thought
that in the meantime, I'd make an old you, and things would be peachy, but it
didnt turn out that way."
In that moment, Aarek understood somewhat of what Binx was saying. In
some ways, Binx new more than Aarek did, annd he was a bit more mature than
Aarek, but in more ways, Aarek had more experience now, and was way more
mature, and he had moved on, but Binx hadn't.
"Well, why don't you just zap him away like you created him?" Aarek
said, looking at the double.
"It dosennt quite work that way," Binnx begann. "I've tried. Nothng will
work."
"You're kidding." Aarek rebuted.
"NNo, I'm not. LIke I said, things didnt work as I thought, He wasn't
the same as you, he wasn't as "sharp" as the orignnal per say. And I can't
get rid of him. Onnly Suspend him inn suspended animation."
"Well, I don't know what I am going to do with you," Aarek said with a
smile. "I guess it would be kind of neat to have a twin." Aarek said, studing
the duplicate trill. "Or have an Aarek that never joined."
"Well, let me make a deal with you, I, er, we need to take care of some
thinngs where we lived, a few galixies away. Lets say, we take care of
thinnngs, and then pop back here in a monnth or so, and stay for good?"
Aarek pondered the possibility for now, and was confused. He wonndered
if it would be possible to be part of a family after all these years.
"Take care of what you have to..." Aarek begann. "Then come back here
and find me. We'll decide thenn what will happen." Aarek said with a smile.
"Sure, I'll stay the night, and we will leave first thing in the
morning. Okay?"
"Okay," Aarek said with a smile. Just then, Aarek II became to life
again, nno lonnger unnder Binx's spell.
"Whats going onn? " He asked. Binx and Aarek just laughed.
"Binx, you can stay with me tonnite, and we'll both leave together in
the morning," Aarek said.
"What do you mean?" he asked Captain Aarek.
"Well, I'm going with a few crew members to a wedding this weekend, and
We're leaving tomorow."
"I'll give you all a send off." Binx said with a smile.

Lately I have been concerned. I have been studying Einsteins methods and
theorys, and have developed my own. If there are other dimensions outside of
the space time continuum, the would be in constant sync with are own. If
this is so, then time travel should be considered illegal. The basis for my
theory is that each moment in time has it’s own specific energy signature.
If that energy signature was changed, time as we know it would skew of into a
tagent, and create an alternate dimension. If this
is so, than the non-timetravelers, would simply blend in with the new
dimension, and if the timeline wasn’t altered too drastically, things would
be all jolly good, peachy, and wondeful. BUT (this is a big but ) what would
happen to the original time continuum? Would it cease to exist? Would go
along with drastic changes? Would Lollipops and S’Mores come out of the
ceiling? I will continue to ponder this.

"Are you going to be okay?" Sean asked Aarek, who was inside the Baton
Rouge, the modified runabout that served as the captainns yacht.
"I'll be fine. Really, I was okay enough for Kyle and Stacey's weding a
few days ago, I'm sure I'll be fine to pilot a runabout to the Hermes." Aarek
responded, loading the last of his luggage into the ship.
"Are you sure?" Beta asked onne more time.
"Sean," Aarek said. "Stop being the mother hen!"
"Yes sir. Just be careful." Sean told him. Beta was always a bit
paranoid, but that was Beta. Aarek had been sick, then he just picked up and
went along with them to the wedding on the Stealth, then on the way back
their runnabout was pretty shaken up. Sean nwas just trying to make sure that
his best friend would be okay.
"I've got to see whats goig on with Bethany. I love her too much not to
try again, and make sure that she really loves Rick."
"Well, Captain Semino and her have a bit more history behind them than
you had with her."
"I know but I have to try." Aarek responded. "Is everything alright for
departure?" Aarek asked the android, who was on deck nine, looking down into
a hole in the floor of one of the Padmasters office. The entry way into the
Batonn Rouge (Which docks along the hull, and is inoticible from the exterior
when ndocked) was in the back corner. Sean looked to Kohn, who was at the
main console.
"The Baton nRouge is ready for departure," Kohn said. "Have a wounderful
maiden flight."
"Thanks," Aarek said. "See you all in a couple of weeks." And with that,
Aarek closed and sealed the compartment door, and Seann walked to the
viewport. Of all the offices on the Halifax, (Or any ship he'd been on for
that matter) the Pad Masters office always had the bigest view of everything.
Sean watched as the Baton Rouge drifted out of the docking port. Two
restraints moved out of the way in an up and away motion, and the Baton
Rouge, a runabout specially modified by Aarek, drifted away. Once
at a safe distannce, Aarek enngaged the warp enngines, and he was of on his
way to the Hermes.

from Aarek, as well as adjustinng to new situations. Aarek felt safe. He
ordered the helmsman to set course for the Hermes.
Aarek walked back into the Commons area of the Baton Rouge. The commons
area, about the size of half a stanndard lounnge on a starship, was the
accomidations for the majority of the crew. This is where they ate,
socialized and whatever they did, except sleep. There were three standard
quarters, able to hold three officers per quarters, with a VIP quarters, that
has accomidations for two people, and then the Captains quarters. Aarek felt
alone in the large expanse of the runnabout, and decided that
he would let Bethanny knnow he was on the way.
He sat at a computer terminal, and began to compose a subspace message.
After several tries, he got a menntal block the size of the Enterprise. He
sat down, then the spirit of one of his past hosts, a musician, came to mind.
Aarek began a frenzy of writing and composing a message to Bethany. Once
completed, he felt better, annd saved it innthe subdirectory for later
delevery.

Dearest Bethany,
I know I've stepped out of your life now, and I know that things are not the
same as they were. I've understood your position through this entire ordeal,
and I know that all of your decisions have been difficult. I love you Beth,
and I don't know how much I can express this. I don't know whats goingn on
with you and Rick, but all I know is that I love you, and that I will not let
you go without one more chance at something more devloping between us.
I'm enroute to the Hermes now, and I'll be there in a matter of days. As
before, I'll be taking my shore leave on the Hermes. I want to try once more,
I want to try to see if we could be what we were before. My words cannot
express what I feel, so I hope the words of this song will help you to
understannd how I feel.
Be not dismayed,
Though it seems like our storms will never end.
Be not afraid,
Though it seems like we are not even friends.
The storms are raging,
And we don't have to run and hide.
Our love is faithful,
To heal our lonley hearts inside.
Peace Be Still,
I'll always love you.
Peace Be Still,
I'll always love you,
And no matter where you are,
Or where you'll be,
I am sure, I want you to know,
I wont let go.
Bethanny, I'm on the way, All the same, I want to give it one more try.
Please?
As Always, and Always yours,
Your Aarek

Adria stood in the middle of several bags that she had droped promptly in
the floor upon her arrival the previous night. This morning she had begun to
unpack, and her quarters were begining to look more like home. However,
seeing as how she hadnt had a chance to explore the ship yet, she decided to
take an oppritunity before going on duty to do so, especially to see her new
office.
Walking into the counsilers office she saw the typical things in a
counsilers office, desk, chairs, computer, adaquit supply of PADDs, then some
old paper books which made her wonder who had prevously occupied this
office.Shrugging the question off she set about hanging diplomas and
certificates up on the wall as most doctors or counsilers do to show off how
much work they put into earning a piece of paper. She also set up a plant in
one corner of the room, along with a few other items. Standing
back from the door she looked back at the room with a smile, wondering what
else this new job would have in store for her.

I am writing this from sick bay. It seems in my excitement over my new
posting ( I was actually jumping for joy) I smashed my arm into the bulkhead.
Diagnosis: A sprained wrist and a bruised Ullna. Both relatively minor
injuries, but still annoying considering my goal of extraordinary
self-control. A starfleet Ensign should not be "jumping for joy" over a new
assignment. Even though I was alone in my quarters, that's still no excuse
for my behavior. I'm sure my sensei would assign me an extra
30-minute sparring session with in order to show me the importance of
self-control. I must ask him to give me some Holodeck programs so that my
skills will not dull while I am away.

I am on my way back from QO'noS. My Grandfather and my parents say that it
wasn't my fault. They can tell me that, but I can' t tell myself that. I
could have prevented that. Sure, it might have been an accident, but I KILLED
HIM. I KILLED AN INNOCENT. I unnecessarily took a life. What have I done?
What doi tell his family? "Oh, I' m sorry, I scattered your son' s molecules
accross the galaxy on accident. I missed the rat I was shooting at. Hey, but
I have some good news, we were in the Sick Bay, when I vaporized him. If I
only I had injured him, there would have been adequate time to treat him.
Here is some good news for me, this incident won' t affect my career." I
doubt they will appreciate that.
What will the crew think? Will they trust me to perform my duties? Will they
trust me with a phaser? Will they insist that I lock out any setting that can
kill? Will they look down at me? Will I hesitate to set the phaser on disrupt
setting? I didn' t mean to, it was an accident. Come on Sean2, you can' t
make yourself accept this right away, you have to give it time. All wounds
heal, even mental wounds. Just give it time, and the pain won' t hurt as
much. You must not let this affect your life. You will

Well, I've only got a little time before I should go back to Sickbay. I'm
still rattled over having to kill somebody. It's not in my nature to do

experience with the Borg so I really can't be mad at them. Maybe a drink
would help...never mind. Gotta go in a few seconds. These past hours have

Another Personal Log written from Sickbay. I hope this is not getting to be
a pattern.
I was in the Holodeck running a simple excercise program (I believe Commander
Worf runs a similar program), when something odd occurred. I was up to Level
8, a Norsican armed with a cestus (an armored glove, covered with blades and
spikes that are usually poisoned), I had forced his arm with the cestus up
with my Katana and was actually holding him there for about a second when I
moved to deliver the killing blow. I stepped in, continuing to hold his
right arm up with my Katana, to stab with my
Wakizashi, when the battle klaxon rang out. In an unsheduled drill such as
this one, the programs in the Holodeck are instantly saved and ended, so as
to assure that all personel react to the alarm. This is exactly what
happened. The Holographic Norsican disappered. When the resistence to my
sword ended, my arm immediately shot up, and then down as I compensated for
the lack of resistance. My left arm, however had not finished its cut. My
own Wakizashi cut into my right forearm, gashing a four
inch cut close to the elbow. The Holodeck's safeties were working
perfectly. Nothing created by the Holodeck or in the Holodeck actually hurt
me. Unfortunately, I had brought my own swords into the Holodeck, I do not
like the feel of Holodeck-created weapons. So when the program ended, the
swords were still in my hands. I must keep this in mind the next time I run
my Kenjitsu and Kata programs.

"Here you are, Ambassador...the reports you asked for." The young aide set
the Padd down on the desk. "Is that all, sir?"
Ambassador Naya Kirijan looked up from her console. "Yes, Donnan...thank
you." The aide left the room. Kirijian looked around her desk at the stack
of Padds it held. It seemed as if her desk had looked like this for
months...
"No...not for months." She murmured to herself. It had only been two months
since it had started. The unexpected death of Minister Koval had placed a
large burden on her and all the other Ambassadors as well. He had managed
the office of Interplanetary Affairs here on Bajor ever since it's inception
since the new Bajoran Govenment had been set up. With his death, all the
Bajoran Ambassadors stationed on Bajor had been given the task of
collectively completing his duties until a replacement could be
named. Kirijian had been one day away from leaving Bajor for her latest
assignment as Ambassador to the USS Halifax, one of Starfleet's newest ships
that would be stationed in this sector. That was all in the past now...she
had been so busy that she barely had time to send Captain Dakor a message
informing him of what had happened.
But that had been a long time ago...and now Kirijian was still swamped with
work. She had practically moved into her office to finish her work...usually
putting in 18 hour workdays. She checked the chronometer on the desk...1400
hours. Past time for lunch...
The door chimed. "Enter.." Kirijan called.
A tall Bajoran male walked through the door. "K..." he boomed.
Kirijan smiled broadly. "Hajar...I suppose you've come in here to kidnap me
again."
"Of course...you have to eat, don't you? Come along...time for lunch.
Someone's got to make sure you eat..." Kirijian didn't protest when Hajar
pulled her out of her chair and pushed her out the door.
TBC...
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
Kirijian pushed her chair back away from the table a little. "Thank you once
again, Haj, for a wonderful lunch, but I really have to get back to work
now..."
Haj smiled. She said this every day....a 30 minute lunch, then another 7
hours of work until dinner. He was fairly certain that she slept at her
desk, but then again, he wasn't all that sure that she took time to sleep.
"K...you work too hard. There are plenty of other Ambassadors to help
out...perhaps if certain Ambassadors DID work more, you wouldn't have so much
to do."
Kirijian sighed deeply. "Let's not get into this argument again, okay?"
"Fine...it's just that I've heard through the rumor mill that our wonderful
Ambassador Delmar is about to be appointed as the new Minister of
Interplanetary Affairs." Haj huffed.
"Haj...it's just a rumor, and I've heard it, too. It doesn't mean a
thing...everyone's name has come up at least once." Kirijan was tired of
having this conversation every other day with her friend.
"Well, it's serious this time, K...I've heard that the official announcement
will come tomorrow at the Ministry meeting." Haj looked serious.
K shrugged. Haj's dislike of Delmar Fivan was no secret. Kirijian didn't
care for him either. Delmar had been a member of the Bajoran negotiating
team who had worked with Starfleet for many years to bring an end to the
Occupation. The fact that he choose not to stay on Bajor and fight the
Cardassians, but rather live in luxurious surroundings on the Federation
planet of Earth, bothered many of the old Resistance fighters who had lived
in primitive conditions for years while they fought the
Cardassians. Haj was passionate about the subject. He abhorred any Bajoran
who choose not to fight when he or she was perfectly capable. Kirijian's
reasons for disliking Delmar were somewhat different. She, in fact, didn't
care that Delmar hadn't actually fought with his hands. If his efforts with
Starfleet helped bring about an end to the Occupation, then she didn't care
how it was done. What bothered her was how he had approached his post of
Bajoran Ambassador to Starfleet after the Occupation.
He seemed more concerned with how Bajor looked to the Federation, rather
than working to strengthen Bajor from within. He looked down on all the
former Resistance fighters, and it was rumored that he had once voiced the
opinion that the Occupation would have been much shorter if it hadn't been
for the terroristic acts of the Resistance strengthening the will of the
Cardassians to fight back. However, Delmar had many friends in the Bajoran
Government...he had the rank of Ambassador, and he had a lot
of power.
"Haj...let's not worry about it okay? Walk me back to the office...tell me
how your sister is..." They stood up and made their way back to her
office...
TBC...
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
The next day Kirijian was once again hard at work. For once, she had gone
home the night before to sleep. She hadn't done that in about a week. It
had worked, too...she felt particularly refreshed this morning. Excellent
timing, too, since the monthly Ministry meeting was in 10 minutes...her
concentration was broken by a chime at the door.
"Enter.." she called.
She was shocked at the person who walked through the door. He had never been
to her office before, and her surprise was most likely evident on her face.
She quickly stood and offered her guest a seat.
"I didn't come here on social reasons, Ambassador Naya. This is official
business." Ambassador Delmar spoke quietly. "I wanted to let you know
before the Ministry meeting started. I have been approved as the new
Minister of Interplanetary Affairs, effectively immeadiately. There are
going to be some changes around here..." he continued.
Kirijian barely listened. She was still shocked at his announcement. She
couldn't believe that it had actually come true. Hajar had been right.
Suddenly, she realized that Delmar had stopped talking and was looking at
her.
"Did you hear what I just said, Ambassador?" Delmar inquired with those cold
black eyes of his.
"Sorry, sir...you just caught me off-guard...I'm a little...surprised by the
sudden news." Kirijian diplomatically answered.
"What I was saying is that things are going to change around here. Starting
with you...I believe that you haven't been fulfilling your role as Ambassador
around here." Delmar said icily.
"I don't understand what you're implying, Ambassador Delmar...I've been
working just as hard as anyone..." Kirijian began before she was
interrupted.
"Not at the post you were assigned. And it's Minister Delmar." Delmar
practically spit out. She could see that he was getting really agitated.
"Are you talking about the Halifax? I had to postpone leaving because of the
workload here..." Kirijan countered, silently telling herself to remain
calm. Getting angry right now would only make things worse.
"Well, now that I'm in charge, there won't be a need for as many Ambassadors
stationed here on Bajor. We want to maintain excellent relations with the
Federation, and your reluctance to take your position as Ambassador to the
Halifax disturbs me greatly. Therefore, you will immeadiately make plans to
join the Halifax wherever we are. You've wasted too much time already..."
Delmar said.
Kirijian, at this point, was ready to rip his arms off and shove them down
his throat. However, her years of military service had given her the
discipline to choke down such primal feelings. "Yes, Minister. I will contact
Captain Dakor immeadiately and make the arrangements." she said through
gritted teeth.
Delmar smiled benevolently. "Thank you, Ambassador Kirijan...I knew you would
see it my way. Now, I must get to my meeting. They'll be expecting me.." He
strode out the door leaving a seething Kirijan in his wake.

Mr Fuzzy has been having some food troubles as of late. A search for a
suitable food led to yet another encounter with the Chedder Collective,
obviously some offshoot from the Borg. I wonder what kind of a connection it
has with our recent encounters <<of which the closest translation of my
problems is the door to my quarters jammed shut. I unjammed it, don’t
worry:)>> I tell ya what, the Borg are really annoying. I mean, galactic
conquest being there main objective is okay, but assimilating a whole
bunch of people in the process? Now that crosses the line. Why is it that
every species in galaxy who wants it all to them selves have to do it in such
a pig-head, underhanded, slimy, icky way? Attention is the answer. All they
want is attention and the galaxy and they are content. Underneath they’re
tough exterior they are all a bunch of toddlers who will throw a hissy fit if
they dont get what they want. It dosn’t matter if the consequences are a
bruised kneecap, or mass exctinction of every
species known in the galaxy, it is attention they crave. All they need is a
good spanking to send them on their way.

“So long Yavin, see you next shift!” shouted Sandy as she left Sickbay.
She continued walking down the hall and went straight to her quarters. Sandy
walked in, replicated some 20th century jeans and a pair of cowboy boots.
Having put these on she walked out of her quarters to the Turbo Lift. She
entered, “Deck 7”. The Lift stopped at Deck 7 and she walked to a Holodeck
and asked the computer to run ‘Sandy Desert’. A desert appeared with cacti
and sagebrush growing everywhere. A horse was ground tied
and waiting to be ridden. Sandy went over to the horse, got familiarized,
and got up on the horse. The horse, a mahogany bay, pranced and settled when
pressed into a trot. Sandy pressed her horse to a lope and sat back to watch
the view. They passed jackrabbits and Monitor lizards as they scurried to
their dens. Afternoon quickly passed to dusk as light began to fade. The
horse seemed to play in the splash as they crossed a trickling stream. Sandy
pulled up on the reins and the horse slowed to a walk.
Sandy relaxed her hands and let the reins droop as she became lost in
thought. Only after her horse tripped did Sandy realize that it was pitch
black outside. She stopped her horse and got off slowly. She patted the horse
and thanked him for a nice ride. She then told the computer, ‘end program’
and the
Holodeck returned to its normal black and yellow grid pattern. Sandy walked
out of the Holodeck with glazed eyes set at a faraway place in space. She
nearly ran over an Ensign on the way to the Turbo Lift. She hurried in and
called out, ‘Deck 6.’ The Lift stopped and she went to her quarters and sat
down on her couch where she again became lost in dreamy thought......

‘Everything is fine here, sir.’ Sighing with relief she replied, ‘Thank you

to herself, ~How did I let myself sleep so long? What was I doing?~ She
racked her memory and remembered the evening horseback ride and getting lost
in her thoughts. Her mind was whirling now remembering what she had thought
about. Sandy said to herself, “Captain Dakor, Seans Tarjoto, Lieutenant
Commander Jantak, Ensign Yavin, all these people with a little spice in their
life all because of one more word added to their title. How plain I must be.
Sandy. Sandy what? Sandy who? Sandy the little girl who
couldn’t remember anything but that one word, Sandy. Am I plain all because
I have one less word to remember when I meet somebody? Is it really worth it
to make up a last name? Am I plain because I don't have a last name? No, I’m
plain because I’m alone. No one to talk to, no one to ride horseback with, no
one to play a duet with. Boy what I wouldn’t do for a friend. What is a
friend anyway? Growing up at a boarding school can really mess you up. Who is
this person I am looking at in the mirror?” She
turns away from the mirror lest she starts to cry. Sandy quickly goes to the

He replies, “Hi there Chief!”
Sandy tells Yavin about her ride in the desert and her amazing 13 hour

He chuckles and says to her, “Wow, you were either pretty gol dang tired or
just .. realtired! How did you manage to sleep that long?”
Sandy laughs and says to Yavin, “I have no clue. I, my mind is sorta fuzzy
on what
happened before I fell asleep and I don’t remember falling asleep either.”
Yavin laughs again and moves on to his patients, “See ya Chief.”
“Bye Yavin,” replies Sandy as she moves on to complete her rounds. As soon
as Yavin leaves her mood becomes sullen and dark. One Ensign with a neck
sprain complains about Nurse Dikeani’s treatment and Sandy blows her top.
“Ensign, you should be glad that we are even caring for your neck sprain! How
stupid can one get?! Tell me how you can sprain your neck walking out of a
Turbo Lift and I will tell Dikeani that her nursing needs brushing up!” There
are a few moments of silence. Sandy says, “That’s what
I thought. I also thought that Dikeani is doing just fine with her nursing
and you should be glad you’re getting any care at all!” Sandy storms off to
her last patient and looks over his report very quickly. She nods to the
patient and leaves. Before she gets out the door she tells Yavin that she
wasn’t feeling up to tempo and that she didn’t want to be disturbed. She
stalks to her quarters where she replicates a strawberry wine cooler and
takes a sip. Sandy sits down on her bed and loses herself again
in thought, taking a sip of her wine cooler every now and then. She returns
to reality when she realizes that her wine cooler is gone. She lays down and
falls asleep with a tear forming in her eye.

Aarek took the Batonn Rouge out of warp just off the stern side of the
Hermes. He wondered if now was not the right time to turn around and leave
Bethany alone with her new old life. Was she truly happy with RIck? Had she
forgotten about all the good times Aarek and she had shared? All the
memories?
Aarek shook the feelings of inhibitions off and hailed the Hermes.
Bethany appeared on the screen, in the command chair of the Hermes.
"Beth?" Aarek asked. "You're on watch duty?"
"I volunteered. Besides, I wanted to greet you personally when you got

Aarek wonndered if the tonne in her voice was one of welcome, or one of
suprised disgust. "I've been waitinng, dinner is ready." she said with a

Aarek felt relieved. At least she welcomed him.
"Where's Captain Semino?" Aarek asked.
"Thats the seconnd reason I was on watch. Um, he sorta dosen't know

"Really? Bethany, How am I supposed to take shore leave?" Aarek said.
"We'll deal with that later. For now, you're cleared to lannd in nthe

Aarek cleared the shuttle bay doors, and set the Batonn Rouge down in

Aarek sat the Baton Rouge down gently in the Shuttle Bay. Powering down

Once the bay was pressurized, Aarek opened the hatch and stood in the
bay. He looked around for Bethany, who was quickly walking into the bay. Once
Aarek sees her, he smiles.
Bethany does not know whether to be happy or annoyed. She cannot figure
out why Aarek is here, and what he is trying to accomplish by this all. Aarek
has similar feelings, and he knows know not what to expect at all from
Bethany.
"Why are you here Aarek??" Bethany asked calmly.
"Frankly, I don't know," He said with a smile. "...um, I err..."
Beth notices that Aarek is uncomfortable, and she chides herself for
being rude.
"I wanted to try.... you gave Rick... I was.... " Aarek began, and then
began to look at the floor, mumbling. He was nervous and now really screwed
things up.
Beth looked away, and Aarek looked up, when Bethany looked back, their
eyes met, and they both burst into laughter.
~~I'm sorry Aarek~~ She began. "I should have welcomed you back to the
Hermes."
"I guess I'm here because, well, I felt the need to," Aarek responded.
"I can understand that," Bethany said, with a nod. "I really shouldn't
have sent that message to you over subspace," She said. "It should have been
in person."
Aarek can sense that she is uncomfortable with His presence, and is
feeling more and more stupid for coming.
"+TAPS+ Bridge to Shuttle Bay 2," the com barked.
"+TAPS+ Shuttle hay 2 here, go ahead"
~~It's okay Beth, better tell me over subspace than not at all......"
"+TAPS+ Uh Sir, we need to dock another vessel. Could you please
vacate the bay?"
Aarek begins to laugh telepathically. Beth laughs as well.
"+TAPS+ Acknowledged. We are on our way out. I shall be in my
quarters, if
you need anything further."
Aarek raises an eyebrow.
"+TAPS+ Aye sir, Bridge out."
Beth motioned to the door "Well we obviously can't stand here anymore,"
She said. "Shall we move to a better setting?"
The cachunnkinng of the locking mechanism could be heard. "Yes, I think
that would be best, and we should do this quickly too." Aarek responded, with
a smile. Aarek offered his arm to Bethany, "lets get outta here," he said
smiling.
"Thank you Aarek," She responds, as they exit the shuttle bay and enter
a turbolift. They enter, and for a moment, and in silence.
~~Are you upset with me?~~ Aarek responded, afraid to ask.
~~I don't know what to feel Aarek~~ She thought. "Deck 3" she called to
the computer, and the lift began to move.
~~ Good or bad,~~ he asks her.
"Both Aarek," she says turning to him.
Aarek, know feeling like a shameful child, turns away. "I'm sorry, I
shouldn't have come."
Bethany seems to ignore that remark as she turns her eyes back forward.
The turbolift stops, and they exit.
"No, it isn't that Aarek. Things are just ... Well it wasn't exactly
the best time." Bethany responded in the same, similar, cold manner she has
been since he arrived.
"No, but I said that I'd stay out, and I haven't" he said, looking away
from her.
They begin to walk again, in more silence than before.
~~It isn't that, you are always welcome here~~ Bethany said. ~~I just
wish I has more notice, that's all~~
Aarek watches a crewman exit another turbolift.
"I'm sorry Beth, I'll go," He said to her, and entered the turbolift. "I
love you," He said as the doors close before Bethany could reach them,
~~Damnit Aarek, don't do this~~ She thought.
Aarek ignores her. He exits on beck 5, and enters a nearby holodeck. He
activates the first program he finds and enters to get lost. Within moments,
Bethany is at the holodeck, and she too enters, to find a endless forest.
