LT Janar begins her report. "I have found the following information."
FstLt Kayla shifts her feet under the table and goes back to her own
thoughts.
Cmdr Ahrele looks at Janar and listens.
LT Janar continues. "The Tilben system is currently uninhabited by sentient
life forms. As of yet we only know that the 3rd planet in the system is of
class M nature . . . standard O2 & N2 atmosphere. The archeological teams
discovered that there was once a very advanced civilization . . . much more
advanced than our own."
CaptTnagra leans back in his chair, listening.
"This leaves many unanswered questions . . . what happened to this
civilization.?"
FstLtKayla pays no attention to the meeting. ~~I wonder if K'elypa's house
it still intact as is~~ She thinks about having Max run diagnostics on all
the reconn sensors. ~~I don't think that mother would be happy if someone
else was living in it besides family~~
"It also tells us that there are "forces" out there that we are unmatched for
. . .One of the science vessels was to investigate a new chamber, but
disappeared before sending any report."
FsLtYular looks at Kayla.
CaptTnagra watches Ahrele watching Janar.
Ahrele senses the captain watching her but resists the urge to look over at
him.
"The artifacts that were recovered are now at the Vulcan Science Academy."
FsLtSierra glances around the table as she listens to Janar. She smiles at
the mention of her alma mater.
FstLtKayla continues with her thoughts. ~~Well it won't be empty much
longer~~
CaptTnagra questions Janar. "LT...have you any word from Vulcan?"
"Captain, I am still waiting for more information from them."
Capt Tnagra grimaces. "Excellent report."
Cmdr Ahrele glances at Tnagra.
"Does anyone have any questions?" She nods at the captain. "Thank you,
Sir."
FsLtSierra shakes her head no.
Kayla turns her attention back to the meeting briefly and shakes her head no.
LTJanar adds another thought. "Sir, I think we will find the bulk of our
answers when we get to the system itself. I believe direct contact with the
terrain may tell us things that our sensors may not."
CmdrAhrele nods, looking forward to investigating this mystery, she is tired
of pushing papers.
CaptTnagra nods and leans forward in his chair.
FsLtYular turns to watch Janar.
LTJanar sits back in her chair and looks around surprised that no one has any
questions.
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
CaptTnagra looks across the table at the assembled staff. "I have one more
item on my agenda... But is there anything else that we need to discuss
first? Are the inter-dept protocols working? Any coordination issues that I
should be aware of?"
FsLtYular keeps his eyes focused on Janar.
Lt1TKala speaks up. "I have a suggestion about the mission, sir."
CaptTnagra looks over at the reconn officer. "Yes, LT?"
"The problem with the ships could be interference with signals --
communications, etc. I suggest we drop a buoy right outside the point where
we lose contact.
It can relay our signals -- sensor information, etc."
CaptTnagra nods. "Excellent idea... Perhaps more than one?"
FsLt Yular from out of the blue suddenly blurts out. "A LEAK!"
FstLtKayla looks startled at Yular's outburst.
Lt1TKala answers Tnagra. "Yes, that might be a good precaution." She looks
at Yular a bit surprised.
CaptTnagra looks at Yular and frowns.
FsLtYular continues totally unaware that his outburst has created a
disturbance to the meeting. "That's it, that's the answer!"
CmdrAhrele glances at Yular and then over to Sierra.
LTJanar tries to get the meeting back on track and the pressure off of Yular.
"Sir, I have a probe prepared. I would like to see if I can get some samples
to analyze before we get there."
FsLtCaptTnagra responds to Janar's thoughts on the probe. He looks at the
Chief of Science. "Once we are in the system...that would seem like a good
idea...."
LTJanar nods to her Captain. ~~ Great!~~
Yular is still amazed at his suddenly insight. "Why didn't I see it before?"
CmdrAhrele realizes that there is no avoiding this issue, though she is
concerned about the Chief Engineer's behavior. "See what, LT?"
FstLtKayla to is curious about what Yular thinks he has figured out. "What
makes you think there is a leak? My security teams have screened the
personnel quite thoroughly."
FsLtSierra stares at Yular.
FsLtYular continues his explanation. "Too many coincidences have occurred
lately that I have noticed."
FstLtKayla gives a warning to the engineer. "Well, with such an accusation
you had better be prepared to back it up whenever you end up accusing
someone."
Cmdr Ahrele wonders if the LT is feeling a little paranoid and reminds
herself to discuss the LT's behavior with the counselor.
CaptTnagra nods at Kayla agreeing with his security chief.
Lt1TKala thinks Yular's brain has a leak.
FsLtYular continues on, pleased with his deduction. "You'll have my full
report when I have the information I need."
FstLtKayla looks sternly at Yular. "You go falsely accusing people and you
are the one that will end up in the Brig."
LTJanar feels Yular's frustration. . . . and Kayla's slight mounting of
anger.
FstLtKayla gives instructions to the engineer. "You had better coordinate
with Security, Yular."
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
CaptTnagra tries to keep his meeting going. "I have one final item..."
FstLtKayla continues talking to Yular. "If you start tampering with anything
of a security nature without proper authorization. Whoever it is won't be
the only left in the Brig."
"Don't worry Lt I will ask you before I do anything."
CaptTnagra waits until the room is quiet before he continues.
FstLtKayla gets defensive. "No one tampers with my systems."
FsLtYular finally realizes that Tnagra is waiting to continue. "Sorry
Captain."
LTJanar smiles at Kayla, hoping to reduce her stress.
CaptTnagra finally gets the attention of all his officers and proceeds.
"Prior to our departure from DS9, we'll be leaving someone behind...."
FstLtKayla looks at Tnagra.
LTJanar looks up suddenly at the captain.
FstLtKayla suddenly wonders why she is letting this discussion get to her.
~~Why should I care. This is K'Vada's problem now~~
CmdrAhrele scowls, knowing what Tnagra is going to say.
LTJanar's head snaps to Kayla.
Lt1TKala raises an eyebrow.
CaptTnagra continues on, passing on this unhappy piece of information to his
senior officers. "First Lt Kayla will be dispatched on temporary duty off
the Darmok."
FsLtSierra looks over at Kayla.
LTJanar's eyes open wide in surprise.
Lt1TKala frowns and looks at Kayla.
"In her absence, and Lt Taz's current illness, Lt K'Vada will be acting Chief
of Security." He looks at Kayla. "LT....we wish you the best on
your....mission. And hope you will return to us safely.
Lt1TKala wonders why her friend didn't tell her of her plans to leave. ~~Why
didn't she tell me?~~
LTJanar starts to say something then pipes down.
Kayla looks over at T'Kala, wishing that she could have been the first to
tell her. "Thank you sir. I will inform you of when my mission has been
completed."
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
LTJanar hopes everything is alright and gives Kayla a bittersweet smile.
FsLtYular thinks. ~~Mission, that only means one thing trouble~~
CaptTnagra stands.
FsLtSierra looks steadily at Kayla, then back to the captain.
FstLtKayla ignores the glances from the stafff. ~~It will be good to go back
home. That is where I belong~~
CaptTnagra address his senior staff. "I expect that all of you will assist
K'Vada in the transition."
LTJanar taps on the PADD in her hands.
CmdrAhrele responds to Tnagra. "Of course, Sir."
Lt1TKala nods, still frowing.
LTJanar nods quietly.
CaptTnagra looks around the table, standing over it. "Dismissed."
FsLtYular realizes the implications of this new security chief posting.
~~Just what I need the man with the phaser pointed at me is now CSEC~~
CaptTnagra watches everyone prepare to leave the room.
CmdrAhrele stands, glancing at Tnagra.
Lt1TKalastands up and walks over to Kayla.
FstLtKayla stands and sees T'Kala walking towards her.
LTJanar sighs and gets up.
FsLtSierra: quietly gathers her Padds together and gets up to leave.
FsLtYular stands running through all the details of his plan in his head.
CmdrAhrele addresses the Captain. "I hope you have a nice evening, Sir."
LTJanar walks over to Ahrele.
Lt1TKala reaches her friend. "What is this all about, Kayla?"
CaptTnagra nods at Ahrele.
FstLtKayla looks down slightly. "I wish that you had heard it from me first.
It is something that I must do T'Kala."
CmdrAhrele smiles at Tnagra, then looks at Janar.
CaptTnagra looks around the room.
FsLtSierra speaks to Tnagra from across the room. "Good evening, sir."
CaptTnagra nods to Sierra.
LTJanar speaks to the XO. "Sir, you will have my full report first thing in
the morning."
CaptTnagra watches everyone leave.
Lt1TKala nods. "Would you like to talk about it? We can go to the lounge."
CmdrAhrele looks at Janar. "Come Lt, I'll walk with you to the lab. We can
discuss your findings on the way."
CaptTnagra is still standing at the table waiting for everyone to depart.
FstLtKayla speaks to T'Kala. "You have had so many troubles lately, I didn't
want to add to your heavy load."
FsLtYular exits the OBS Lounge on a mission......a mission from God.
FsLtSierra walks out of the Obs lounge.
CmdrAhrele heads for the door with Janar right on her heels. She listens to
the Science officer.
"It will include the stats on the probe also." Janar hopes that her ideas
will lead to a quick end to the mystery.
Lt1TKala walks with Kayla to door. "I understand."
CmdrAhrele and Janar exit the lounge and head to the science labs together.
FstLtKayla walks with T'Kala out of the OBS Lounge.
As the last person leaves, Tnagra walks over to the large window. He looks
down at the DS9 pylon, frowning and whispers... "Best of luck, Kayla...."

Chief Engineer/ USS Darmok
Stardate 9612.20
::Jon wakes up after getting some sleep. He is still lying in his bed and
grabs a nearby PADD so he can get his logs done.
Computer begin recording duty log for SD 9612.20
I was all ready and pumped to go to work today, but out of the blue I became
sick. I must have caught some virus or something while on Deep Space Nine.
It probably waited until today to affect my, figures. So seeing as I was
sick I could perform my duties today and had to stay in bed.
One further thing to talk about is information about our saboteur. I am
getting very close to discovering out who he/she is. Soon I will have
him/her and stop this madness once and for all. We can't have a sabotuer on
board causing problems for us all the time.

"First Officer's Log SD9612.17
We have received notice from FsLt Kayla that she intends to take a leave from
the Darmok citing personal reasons for needing to take the leave. After
discussing the matter with Capt Tnagra, we have decided that it is in both
the Darmok's and FsLt Kayla's best interest to grant it.
Computer, close log."
Arhele sat at her desk, a scowl on her face, not at all happy about this
change in personel, even if it was only to be temporary. Ahrele got up and
headed out the door towards security. She wanted to find Lt K'Vada to
discuss sime issues with him regarding their up-coming mission to the Tilben
System.

<<Somewhere off in a distant part of the galaxy trouble is brewing.>>
::The mining continued as usual on this baren forboding planet:: You would
think that eventually the rescources would run out but they don't and we are
forced to continue mining.
GET BACK TO WORK! ::The man high above with the energy whip proclaimed::
::Miner returns back to working:: Someday I will get you, and we will free
all the other prisoners and so you we mean buisness. Sometime very soon.
::A short stocky Romulan walks over to the miner:: Psssst I couldn't help
overhearing your little comment there, and I would like to help.
How can you help me? ::The miners says with a stern look on his face::
Lets just say that you are not the only one with these feelings. There are
many who share your opinion.
::Suddenly the crack of the energy whip can be heard:: Ahhhhhhhhhh ::cries a
young Andorian in the background. He falls to ground dead. Mining continues
as usual::
Meet at level 4 section 29B tomorrow at 6 in the evening. ::Quotes the
Romulan:: All of your problems will be solved.
<<The Next Day/ Time 5:50>>
::The miner proceeds past the security check points and the guards claiming
to mine at this section::
Move along! ::The guard points the Way::
::The miner enters section 29B of level 4 to find a large group of people
mining, yet talking amognst themselves. The miner finds the Romulan and they
begin to talk::
So what is the plan or did you bring me here for nothing?
::The Romulan raises his eyebrows:: Tomorrow at precisely 12 O'Clock sharp a
Romulan Warbird will be arriving here to deliver supplies to this prison
camp.
Why a warbird, why not there regular cargo vessel?
The cargo vessel is being repaired. We are going to hijack that warbird and
take it for ourselves.
And just how do you propose we do that? They just won't let us waltz right
onboard.
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
At 11 tomorrow every prisoner is going to start a riot and we shall kill the
guards and then transport up. Don't worry about weapons. ::The Romulan pulls
our a disruptor hidden from underneath is clothes:: We are prepared. Here
take this. ::He toses the miner the disruptor:: Just make sure no-one finds
out.
Oh I won't.
<<Day 3/ Time 11>>
::Massive amounts of phaser fire and disruptor fire can be heard, along with
the sound of the energy whips::
WE NEED REINFORCEMENTS NOW!!! ::cried the guard as he fired his phaser::
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh ::screamed the prisoners as they charged the guards
overwhelming them and killing them::
<<Day 3/ Time 12>>
Warbird> This is the Warbird Tirex are you ready to proceed with the
transport Penal Colony 72?
Oh we are as ready as we will ever be. ::states the man speaking over the
communcations systems::
Warbird> Commencing beamdown now!
::Unbeknowest to the Warbird the prisoners have flipped the transporter beams
actually bringing up all 250 prisoners to the Warbird. Prisoners soon arrive
on the bridge::
Romulan Commander> What is this?
Your end ::States the miner just before he fires the disruptor killing the
Romulan::
::Within moments all 250 murders, theives, and other highly dangerous
criminals seize control of the Warbird Tirex::
NOW IT'S TIME WE SHOWED THEM WE MEAN BUISNESS! SET A COURSE FOR OUTPOST 23!
::proclaims the miner::

Computer> Recording. Begin when ready.
Another day on the Darmok. The U.S.S. Darmok was heading for the
Tilben System, more specifically, the third planet. Apparently,
many ships that were in that area vanished just like that.
:::.Snaps finger.::: There was no trace of debris, or anything.
Just vanished like magic.
When we first arrived there, we met a Ferengi vessel. My guess
is, they were probably looking for salvageable things from ships
that mysteriously vanished in that system. Then, they'd take it
and sell it. ::Shakes head::: ~~Ferengis, all they think about
is profit!~~
The next thing that happened was some sort of wave hit the
Ferengi vessel. It too, like many other ships, mysteriously
vanished without a trace. Right after that, we were hit by the
wave. K'Vada ordered a damage report from me, and it was just
minute damages on a speck of our hull. We lost all
communication.
We also discovered a small science ship orbiting the third
planet, if I remember correctly. Fleet Captain Tnagra ordered an
away team to the planet to see what they could find. He also
ordered an away team to the science vessel which has no crew
aboard to try to get any information out of it. I am currently
awaiting further orders to proceed to the vessel.

From: First Lt. Yular
Date: Stardate 9612.22
When you interogate the sabotuer Ensign Capone, I would like to ask if I can
be there. Since he was in my department I would like to find out as much
information as possible as to everything he did. There still might be things
that he had planned, that might take effect at a later date.
I would also like to tell you that the turbolift that was badly damaged when
he tried to kill me is in the process of being fixed. I estimate that it
will take about another 2 days before it is back up to 100% strength. So I
have shut down that turboshaft just incase you were wondering why the
turbolift was not coming.
So please let me know if I can attend the interogation. Thank you for your
time.

LT. Katerina Janar
Duty Log -- SD 9612.13
This happens the day of Sierra and Dare's Wedding. Sorry for the delay!
:: Janar is sitting at her new desk deep in thought staring down at a PADD.
A sudden surprised look flashes over her face and her fingers fly over the
PADD. ::
That's it!
:: She jumps up ans quickly walks into the lab just outside of the Garden.
At the console she inserts the PADD and downloads the new data she was
working on . . . the program comes up instantly. She taps in a few more
variables and the computer beeps back its acceptance.
A lone pan sits atop of a newly constructed brick-like frame. ::
Computer, put a Level 10 force field around the brickwork and its components.
She inserts the filament bars in the hollow of the bricks and hooks up the
rods to the computer panel. Computer, overload just until a very small 6" X
6" low level plasma fire starts inside the ring. Again be sure the field can
contain it and adjust as necessary. Monitor for any fluctuations.
Disengage and extinguish if the pressure increases beyond my calculations.
She hooks up a tricorder so she can directly monitor it herself. Computer,
begin program.
:: A small bright flash is seen and a small fire burns strong and steady.
She monitors for a few moments before she yelps with delight as she feels the
pan getting warm. ::
Yes!! Computer, stop program.
:: The computer beeps and the flame is gone. Janar walks over to the cabinet
on her right and reads the LED temperature display. It reads 42 degrees. ::
Computer, drop the temperature inside the cabinet by 4 degrees Celsius.
Confirm that the force field is intact.
Computer> The temperature is now at 38 degrees Celsius and the force field is
intact.
:: She smiles happily. :: The heat source is working, the cold storage is
intact, and the menu is set. Now all I have to do is cook! This wedding is
going to be spectacular!! Sierra will be so happy. She walks into another
lab and motions to a small ornate pillow on the table. ::
Ensign, will you please bring this to Holodeck 1 and leave it on the alter?
Sir?
Dr. Ryder will know what to do with it. :: At his puzzled look she
continues. :: It is an old custom to place the wedding rings on this pillow
during the ceremony for a blessing.
Oh, I see. Right away, Lieutenant.
:: She turns and walks back into the other lab to the large task ahead of
her. She smiles at the challenge. ::
Computer, please record the present program into a duty log for the day.
Computer> Acknowledged.

LT. Katerina Janar
Duty Log -- SD 9612.21
:: Janar is sitting in her office. The hour is late. She is still pouring
over tons of data regarding the disappearance of the 7 ships. No patterns
come to mind. She is tired and frustrated! She leans back and rubs her red
rimmed eyes. ::
Computer, I would like a steaming hot double espresso, slightly sweet.
:: It appears in the window and she reaches out her hand to it to retrieve
it. She concentrates on not spilling it as the mug slowly moves towards her
on a thin plane of air. Slowly sipping it she sighs as the warm liquid
sinks into her belly. ::
I hope this helps.
:: She sets the drink down and walks over to an ornate small hutch. She
pulls out a large fluffy cotton sweater, takes off her uniform and puts it on
over her thin department shirt. Hanging up her uniform she pulls out a pair
of leggings and pulls them on, too. ::
There that is much better. I am not on duty anyway. As a matter of fact I
should be sleeping now, but I need to gather some more information. There
has got to be a way to trace the ships!
:: She sighs loudly and sits back down at her desk. She taps out a quick
duty log.
After the Department Head Meeting we had this week, I went
straight to my office to see if I could come up with any more information
about the Tilben System and the mystery surrounding it! I have been in here
every other moment when I am not needed on the Bridge and I will be in here
until I figure this out. I am rearranging Ensign Aikido's schedule to cover
the Bridge station. I will send the Captain and XO a memo pertaining to this
change. Duty log ended.
She sits back for a moment, then resumes her search for a pattern. ::

From: LT. Katerina Janar, CSO
Re: Shift Changes
cc: Captain Ahrele, Ensign Aikido.
I have revised this weeks Science schedule. This serves two purposes:
1) Allows myself with more research time in regards to the Tilben System.
2) Enables Ensign Aikido to gain more Bridge duty time.
I have full confidence in Ensign Aikido's abilities. If you have any
problems with this please feel free to discuss it with me.
You will find that I am spending most of my time in either my office or the
Labs. I can be reached at either place.

SD 9611.28
To: Commander Ahrele, First Officer
From: LT. Katerina Janar, Chief of Science
Re: Damage Report -- Sensor Array
CC: Fleet Captain Tnagra, FsLt Yular, FsLt Kayla
Commander, while you were on DS9 I ran a Level 1 Diagonistic on all Science
Systems and Sensors. The report showed some minor damage to the long range
sensor array. I tried to correct the problem by way of the main computer,
but found out that an external check as well as repair was required.
I spoke to Ensign Stans in Engineering and asked for his report, but was told
that it was next on his list to do. I informed him that I would deal with it
myself. I did not feel comfortable leaving the ship until I knew the problem
was fixed.
Since the Captain, Lieutenant Yular, and yourself were already down on the
station, I contacted Chief of Engineering, Miles O'Brien to help me. I
discussed the problem with him and downloaded the information. He assured me
that he would send an engineer out to correct the array's problem.
I will follow up with Chief O'Brien when I get down to the station.

Janar's part in the Conspiracy . . .
LT. Katerina Janar
Duty Log -- SD 9612.22
Lieutenant!!!
:: Janar is stepping out of her suite when she fells this overwhelming burst
of agony from Jonathan Yular. She is stunned at first! No one has ever
hurled themself into her mind like that! ::
MY GOD!! :: She runs to the TL at a frantic pace. ::
{S Taps} Medical emergency to Deck 2!!
:: The TL doors open and she see's the Chief of Engineering who just landed
in a heap outside the TL door. There are flames everywhere. She ducks and
twists as she gets closer. A searing pain explodes on her right upper arm.
She screams and looks to see a piece of burning metal melted on to her arm!
She bends down to Yular and helps him up. He does not notice her arm because
he is hell bent and determined to find the person who set this deadly trap.
He mumbles something into his comm and runs with his own agenda into the open
TL.
She slumps against the wall shielding her eyes. ::
Computer, execute fire supression systems!
Computer> Can not execute automatically. The system is off line.
:: Janar locates the control panel on the wall through the smoke and makes
her way to it. ::
{S Tap} Ops! We need to clear this smoke from Deck . . . ::cough:: . . .
2!!
It is choking!!! ::cough::
:: She manually taps the system on line and gets the fire suppression system
working. She slumps against the wall again as she sees help running down the
corridor! Her arm in severe pain! She hears Yular's voice over the
shipwide intercom. ::
Attention crew, yes I am alive not dead. Whoever attempted to just try and
kill me, you failed, and now I am going to get YOU!
:: She cringes feeling his rage all around her! As she makes her way
toward the medical staff she hears a huge swooshing sound from beyond the TL
doors, then a huge crash! ::
Oh, NO!! :: She cries out! Between the fire supression system releasing,
the mass confusion the bomb has caused, the mental noise of the medical crew
and the pain in her arm, she still manages to focus onto FsLt. Yular's mind.
She can still feel him. She sighs thankfully!::

<<Outpost 23>>
Help is anyone out there we need help! ::cried the Romulan communications
officer at
Outpost 23, sending a distress call::
Fire full torpedo spread on my command. ::states the now proclaimed captain
of Tirex::
NOW!!!
::A full spread of photon torpedoes quickly dispatches Outpost 23 leaving
little remaining
of it::
Open a wide subpace channel to all nearby systems, lets make sure we are
known. ::Doran
Sardain states::
Yes sir. ::The communications officer chirps as he opens a subspace channel
to all nearby
systems:: Channel open sir.
There is nothing left of the Romulan Oupost 23. Let this stand as a lesson
to all that have
opposed us before that we, former members of the Orion Syndicate are back in
action and
this time there will be no stopping us!
::Doran moves his hand across his neck signify to the communications man to
cut the
transmission::
Ah what shall be our next target to eliminate. ::he so happy chirps::
Sir! ::the communications prisoner interupts::
What is it K'Lev?
::With a worried look on the communications officer's face he says:: I just
recieved word
that our friend Capone was discovered to be a traitor and is in custody right
now.
WHAT? ::Doran asks with an astonished look on his face:: How can this be he
had the
perfect cover?
I don't know sir. All I know is he is captured. Do you think he will tell
about us and our
plans?
Of course he will, he is such a weak minded fool. He will tell them whatever
they need so
he gets a lesser sentence. ::a disapproved look on his face:: Wait a minute
where was he
captured what ship?
One moment sir.
::The computer buzzes and beeps while searching for information::
It says here he was captured aboard the USS Darmok.
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
::Doran scrathes his brow:: The USS Darmok, I want to know everything there
is to know
about the USS Darmok, it's mission, it's strengths, it's weaknesses, and it's
crew. That ship
is a Federation vessel isn't it.
Yes sir, what of it? ::The man states::
I think its time we demonstrated the full power of this ship, find me the
nearest Federation
vessel NOW! ::Doran pounds his fist on the table::
::Doran's Romulan friend the tactical officer happily states:: The nearest
Federation vessel
is the USS Faragut!
::He swivels his chair:: Set an intercept course and engage at maximum warp!
Yes sir.
::The ship goes to warp and some time later in the day intercepts the
Faragut::
::The Tirex quickly opens fire on the Faragut doing minor damage to the
lateral thrusters::
Return Fire! ::The Faragut's Captain demands::
::Torpedoes and phasers launch at the Tirex doing damage to the port warp
nacelle::
Keep firing! We must destroy them, or at least cripple them. ::Doran
demands::
::The fire fight ensues with the Faragut taking much more damage, and
crippling her. The
Faragut now begins to list aimlessly through space with a minor distress
beconn signaling::
Prepare to fire the last shoot on my command. ::Doran says with a smirk on
his face::
Sir I say we leave them here and go for our real objective, to get Capone on
the Darmok.
We need to save all the power we have. There will be plenty of more battles
to come.
::Doran looks at the Romulan with a disgusted look on his face:: I suppose
you are right.
Set a course for the last known position the Darmok, maximum warp. I want
this ship
repaired also by the time we get there.
::The Tirex takes off leaving the listing Faragut to remain in space all
alone where no one
can hear you scream::
<<Onboard the Faragut>>
Are you alright? ::asks Maria to the Capatin::
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
I've been better. ::The Captain says with his uniform all a mess and dirty.
He look over
and sees that the Con and Ops officers are dead:: No not Tralane and
Johnson! ::tears
begin to form on the normally sturdy Captain:: What's our status?
We are looking pretty bad. There are numerous hull breachs all over the ship
and main
power is down. About the only thing we have going for us is the fact that we
still have a
minimal amount of life support. ::Maria sadly states. She looks around the
bridge:: It
looks like we are the only ones left alive on the bridge.
It all happened so fast. Do you remember who it was, what was the name of
that ship?
I believe they said they were some former members of the Orion Syndicate. I
believe the
name of that ship was the Romulan Warbird Tirex sir. :: Suddenly Maria
remembers that
subspace communication they recieved just before they were attacked:: Those
were the
people who destroyed Romulan Outpost 23.
Well frankly I don't care about that right now. All I care about is getting
this ship back up
and running. I am going to need your help to do. I have never been hit this
hard in all my
days of Captaining.
::The two of them, the Captain and Counselor Maria begin to try and fix the
mess::

Lt. K'Vada
9612.24
USS Darmok, orbiting the third planet in the Tilben System
Just a quick log before we head out. We are about to beam down to Tilben
III, where we found ourselves after we were hit by some sort of energy
wave.... I'm still not quite sure what happened.
Right after we found a Ferengi Vessel in the sector we were
investigating (ships had seemed to disappear in that area), the Ferengi
Vessel was hit by an energy wave and seemed to have vaporized... which we
soon discovered was not what had happened when the Darmok was hit by that
same wave. We now find ourselves stuck around this darned planet while these
blasted Ferengi whine to us. I just hope that we can get this over with as
soon as possible.
End log.

Intership Memo
To: Lieutenant Katerina Janar
From: First Lieutenant Jonathan Yular
Date: Stardate 9612.28
Considering our new found friendship, I would like to ask if you would like
to join me for a little fun on the holodeck. I have an excellent program
that I have been working on and will be complete shortly. It is a very
enjoyable program. If you say yes in response to this message I will leave
you another note about when to join me. I can't tell you anything further
than that, it would spoil the suprise.

::A cold erie chill shivered through Ensign Capone's body as he sat in his
brig cell awaiting the final questioning which is to be done later today. As
he lies on the bed and waits he hears the door to the brig open. He can't
make out who it is because the lights are turned down except for his cell.
He pears his head around the to ask::
Who's there?
::Silence is heard as the shadowy figure walks closer to the cell. The
person makes sure not to be seen by Capone. Capone, wondering who it is asks
once again::
Who are you show yourself?
::The figure stands just out of the light and touches the forcefield making
sure it is in tact. All Capone can make out is red painting on the
fingertips of this mysterious figure. The mysterious person answers::
::with anger:: Do you not remember what we told you fool! What did you tell
them hmm? Did you tell them of our plans? ANSWER ME!
::Capone shocked at the line of questioning barely gets out:: N...n...no...I
didn't tell them anything I swear to it.
::The person in the dark eyes Capone and the sound of an earring clanging
against the forehead can be heard:: You lie! You are a disgrace to the name
and I will make sure you get what is coming to you, your FREEDOM.
::Capone's eyes widen:: M...my...freedom. You would do that for me?
For a price... ::the figure grins::
::Filled with excitement:: I'll do anything just get me out of this cell
before they come back and question me again, please!
Good then I'll discuss what you will have to do for me later. ::The figure
turns to the brig control panels and punches in a few codes causing the
forcefield drop with a low hum. The figure motions a hand to come out of the
cell::
::Capone smiles and steps out of the cells happily walking towards door::
WAIT! ::The figure commands:: Come here for one minute.
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
All right but we don't want to stay here much longer. ::Capone walks back up
to the figure within very close proximity::
I've changed my mind. I am going to make you pay my price right here and
now! ::The person demands::
::With a tilt of his eyebrows and a bit of confusion in his voice:: And what
might that be?
::The figure runs one finger down the tip of Capone's lips:: Shhh.
::Capone smiles:: Ah, I see what you want in return and would be only to
happy to pay your price, but I don't think it is the right place or right
time though. We could always go to your quarters before you get me off this
ship.
::With a grin on the shadowy figures face:: Oh but I think here and now is
just the right place for this.
::Capone shrugs his shoulders:: Well whatever you say. I said I owed you
and I am a man of my word.
Oh and a handsome man at that. Now close your eyes and let me do the rest.
::Smile on the figures face::
::Closing his eyes:: Whatever you say. ::Capone stands awaiting::
::The dark figure moves one hand to the pocket on the left side and pulls out
an object:: Now are you ready?
::Smiling:: As ready as I'll ever be!
All right then here it comes. ::The figure moves the object up to face level
on Capone:: Oh there is one last thing I have to say before we do this.
::Without a care in the universe:: Go ahead tell me whatever you'd like.
DIE! ::The figure points the object at Capone's head and discharges it at
close range on a low setting. The setting low enough not to be detected and
high enough for death::
::Capone falls to the floor with a nice burn mark on his forehead::
::The figure smiles at the corpse of Capone:: Was it good for you? It was
good for me! ::The laughs and puts the weapon in Capone's hand at just the
right position to make it seem like suicide. The person walks out of the
Brig and back on duty::

CaptAhrele and the away team materialize on the planet.
CaptAhrele looks around while T'Kala takes out her tricorder and attempts to
start
scanning. K'Vada inhales the air deeply. Ahrele turns to the reconn
officer.
"What are you reading, T'Kala?"
Lt1TKala points off to her right. "There should be some buildings in this
direction."
She attempts to recallibrate her tricorder which doesn't seem to be working
properly.
CaptAhrele nods. "The archeological dig should be in that direction....let's
go."
Lt KVada kneels down and shifts a bit of dirt between his fingers. Lt1TKala
nods and
follows Ahrele. Ahrele starts walking in the direction of the buildings.
She looks
back over her shoulder. "Coming LT?"
Lt KVada glares at the captain follows behind T'Kala.
Lt1TKala continues attempting to scan as she and the away team walk up and
around a small hill. CaptAhrele notices some small temporary shelters put
up. She
looks at T'Kala. "Looks like we aren't alone."
Lt KVada points at the shelters. "A bit rough for archeologists, eh?"
Lt1TKala nods. "Standard Federation survival shelters."
Lt KVada glares at TKala. "Really? I thought that they were strange shaped
bushes."
CaptAhrele looks at the officers around her. "Well, somebody put those up,
let's find
them." Ahrele begins walking toward the shelters. Lt KVada keeps his hand
next to
his phaser as he follows the captain. CaptAhrele looks at K'Vada. "You
could have
left the sarcasm back on the ship, LT." Lt1TKala raises an eyebrow at
KVada's
sarcasm.
CaptAhrele approaches the shelters and calls out. "Anybody home?"
Lt1TKala looks at her tricorder. "I'm not reading any lifesigns, Captain."
Lt KVada's hand relaxes a bit. "Perhaps someone was in a rush to leave?"
Lt1TKala walks inside one of the shelters. CaptAhrele opens a door and sees
that the
shelter is empty. Lt KVada sticks his head in a shelter, not finding
anything.
Capt Ahrele notices the remains of a recent meal. Lt1TKala notices it too.
"They were
here recently. That coffee is still warm."
CaptAhrele nods. "Somebody's been here recently, we need to find them. Let's
go."
Lt KVada pulls out his phaser. Lt1TKala looks around the camp puzzled.
"This is
odd. There's no sign of a struggle."
Lt KVada looks over at T'Kala. "Why is that odd? There would only be
struggle if
they got caught." Lt KVada follows the captain.
CaptAhrele looks over at K'vada indicating the phaser. "I don't think that
is
necessary, LT. These are Federation scientists."
Lt1TKala looks at KVada. "Why would they leave the camp unattended?"
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
CaptAhrele begins walking towards a nearby hill. "Perhaps they merely left
to go
work."
Lt KVada looked at T'Kala. "Scientists would run at any sight of trouble,
that's why
they live to be old."
Capt Ahrele chose to ignore the last remark by her security guard but
reminded
herself to discuss it further with him in the future. She pulls out her
tricorder and
takes scans. She notices no life signs....none. Puzzled she turns back to
scan the
away team and sees they don't show up on the scans either. She puts the
tricorder
away. "This isn't going to do us any good."
Lt KVada looks quizzically at the Captain.
CaptAhrele continues toward the hill. Lt1T Kala tests her tricorder on
Ahrele and
KVada and gets the same results. Lt KVada fires his phaser at the ground, but
nothing happens.
CaptAhrele continues climbing the small hill and calls out loudy. "HELLO, IS
ANYONE HERE?"
Lt KVada calls up to the Captain. "The phaser's don't work."
CaptAhrele stops and looks back at K'Vada. "Well, let's hope we don't need
them
then."
Lt1TKala taps her comm badge. "T'Kala to Darmok."
CaptAhrele looks at T'Kala. Lt1TKala looks back. "No response."
CaptAhrele taps her own comm badge. "Ahrele to Darmok." Getting no response
she
looks at K'Vada. "LT, try yours."
Lt1TKala watches KVada. Lt KVada sighs. "A perfect planet to get stranded
on." He
motions to the dry, infertile soil the taps his comm badge. +taps+ "KV to
Darmok."
He shakes his head. "Nothing."
Lt1TKala looks around at the away team. "All right -- obviously there is
some kind of
dampening field working here."
CaptAhrele nods in agreement. "Okay...well then let's keep looking....we'll
just have to
find it." CaptAhrele continues climbing up the hill. Lt KVada starts to climb
the hill.
Lt1TKala shields her eyes from the sun and looks around. Capt Ahrele reaches
the
top of the hill and looks down the other side.
Lt1TKala calls up to Ahrele. "Anything, Captain?"
CaptAhrele sees lots of people walking around an archeological dig site.
"Yep. We've
found them."
Lt1TKala finishes her climb and walks up next to her and looks. "Good."
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
CaptAhrele waves her arms down at the people around the dig and begins making
her way down the hill. She approaches the nearest person and smiles.
"Hello, I'm
Capt Ahrele Johannson of the Federation starship Darmok. Are you in need of
assistance?"
A man noticed the group of Federation officers and approached. "We sure are,
but
now you are too, Captain."
CaptAhrele looks back at the away team.
Lt1TKala looks at man. "What do you mean?"
The scientist looked at the officers. "Have you tried your tricorders? Do
they work?
What about your communication badges. Ours quit working 4 days ago."
Lt1TKala looked at the man. "No, and neither do our phasers. Have you
determined
a cause yet?"
CaptAhrele stands back watching her officers do their jobs and looks around
at the
dig site.
The scientist looks at T'Kala. "No, but we think it has something to do with
the
machine that came on."
Lt1TKala stepped forward. "Machine? What machine?"
The scientist tried to explain. "There is a .... a....computer like device
in the latest
chamber that we've been excavating. Since then we've had a lot of company on
this
planet."
This last statement caught K'Vada's attention. "Company? Who?"
The scientist began walking. "Come on... I'll show you."
Lt KVada follows the man and looks over at Ahrele. Coming, captain?
Lt1TKala looks at Ahrele.
The scientist heads towards a clearing back behind a grove of stunted trees.
Lt1TKala
walks next to KVada and Ahrele hurries to catch up with the man. The
remainder of
the away team walk behind. Lt1TKala looks around curiously. The scientist
points
to hundreds of people in the clearing. The people are sitting around
emergency
shelters and milling around talking quietly. Almost all of them are wearing
Starfleet
uniforms.
Lt KVada looks shocked. "How'd they all get here?"
The scientist looked at the latest arrival of Starfleet officers. "This is
the company I
was referring to. They've all had to beam down from their ships.
Lt1TKala stepped forward. "Had to? Why?"
The scientist looked sadly at the away team. "I bet your crew will have to
soon, too."
Lt KVada surveyed the scene. "What happened to their ships?"
"The ships have been unable to maintain their orbits. The crews beamed down
before
the ships burned up in the atmosphere."
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
Lt KVada looked at the scientist puzzled. "Why don't you just destroy the
computer?"
Lt1TKala looks shocked. "Captain, the Darmok!"
CaptAhrele looks at T'Kala. "Tnagra can handle things up there, T'kala."
Lt1TKala nodded her head. "Of course. But if we don't find a way to stop
it, the
Darmok will be destroyed."
"This device is of unknown technology....we can't just destroy it. We've
tried to turn
it off, but nothing has worked."
Lt KVada looks at the man. "Excuse me sir... I didn't get your name."
Lt1TKala looks at KVada. "Without phasers, how would you propose that we
destroy
it?"
"My name is Stephen Nor. I am the head archeologist of this dig. We don't
find
uniforms very condusive to working at an archeological site so we don't
usually wear
them while working on planet."
Lt KVada considers the discovery of this new computer device. "Then what
good is it?
If you can't figure it out, you can't use it, what good would it do but get
more people
stuck here? Dr. Nor, I presume?"
The scientist looked at the Klingon. "Actually yes, though people on my ship
usually
refer to me as LCdr. I'm not saying that we want to save it, LT. I'm saying
that we
can't get it turned off. I'm open to suggestions."
Lt KVada looked at the scientist. "May we see it?"
"Of course...it's back at the dig site."
The scientist looks at all the people and talks softly to the away team.
"These people
are going to be getting really hungry real soon. Your ship is the only one
left in
orbit so you are our final hope."
Lt1TKala looks at Nor. "Then I suggest we take a look at the computer right
away."
Ahrele looks over at Huston who has been quietly evaluting the events.
"Doctor... You
and Lanel see what you can do for these people. Some may be in need of your
assistance. We'll meet back up with you shortly."
The archeologist begins walking back toward the dig. Capt Ahrele walks beside
him.
Lt KVada looks at the trees. "Where there's trees, there's plants, there's
food."
Dr. Nor looks at the security guard. "You're right, but not much... Not
enough for
this many people." He reaches the opening in the ground. "It's down there."
Lt KVada smiles at the scientist. "You can always make any food enough food.
But I
agree that we'll starve if any more ships crash..."
Lt1TKala looks down into the opening.
CaptAhrele looks at the group around her. "Let's hope we can get this thing
figured
out and then we won't have to worry about how to stretch the food."
Lt KVada looks into the opening. Ahrele begins climbing down the ladder.
"Somebody
hand we a torch or something....it's dark down here."
Lt1TKala looks back at the scientist. "It's awfully small, isn't it?"
Lt KVada brings down a small torch.
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
LCdr Nor calls down to Ahrele. "Only right here Captain, there is light once
you get
past the opening."
Lt1TKala sighs and climbs down the ladder.
Ahrele takes the torch from K'vada. "Thank you, LT." She reaches the bottom
of
the ladder and looks around. She sees a light coming from distance. Ahrele
waits for
the others to finish climbing down and then heads toward the light. Ahrele
allows
Nor to take the lead and then follows behind him. Lt1TKala follows behind
Ahrele
and KVada. CaptAhrele approaches the room. She enters and looks around. A
smile
comes over her face as she surveys the discovery. "This is fascinating!"
She slowly
walks up to a strange looking device in the center of the room.
Lt1TKala looks at the device and notices it is humming.
Lt KVada laughs. "Have you tried throwing rocks at it?"
The scientist glares at the Klingon. "Is that a joke, LT?"
Lt KVada looks at the scientist. "Actually, sometimes the simplist solutions
work."
Lt1TKala looks at KVada and then picks up a small rock.
Nor looks at the group of officers. "We aren't sure what activated it."
Lt KVada walks around the machine looking up and down it. Lt1TKala throws
the
rock at the machine and it is disintegrated in a forcefield. "Well, that
answers that
question."
Lt KVada watches the rock disintegrate from existance and then turns to the
scientist. "Do you know what it's made of?"
"There are no obvious controls on it. But watch this...." He walks up to
the
machine and reaches out to touch it. Nor touches the device and all that
happens is
that the humming chances frequency. He shrugs his shoulders.
Lt KVada watches closely. "Hmm..."
Lt1TKala looks excited. "Fascinating...."
CaptAhrele and K'Vada both decide to walk up to the machine. Ahrele begins
touching the device in various locations listening to the changes in
frequency. Lt
K'Vada pulls out a knife and slashes at it, he watching as his blade
disappears.
CaptAhrele sees the K'Vada with the knife and is about to ask him what he is
doing
with is when she sees the knife disappear. She raises her eyebrows.
Lt KVada looks over at the captain. "The forcefield... it has no definite
location. Yet..."
He pulls out another knife.
CaptAhrele turns to look at the scientist. "Did you get any readings on it
before the
tricorders quit working?"
"Yes we did."
Lt KVada slowly taps the knife against the device, wondering what will
happen.
Lt1TKala watches KVada curiously. CaptAhrele continues touching the machine
in
various places, watches K'vada's knife stay in his hand.
Lt1TKala begins to form a theory. "Hmmm... it seems to be programmed to
eliminate anything it considers a threat."
CaptAhrele nods. "And do you notice that the tones keep changing?"
Lt KVada nods. "I was wondering if it was biological vs. non-biological or a
matter of
speed..." He steps back a few steps from the machine and rips off part of
his sleave.
CaptAhrele touches the machine in various places producing an almost musical
scale. She stops to watch K'Vada. Lt KVada ties it around his comm badge for
weight. He then throws it at the machine, watching it bounce harmlessly off
the
side. He narrows his eyes puzzled. "Strange...It seems to know what can
damage it."
CaptAhrele looks at K'Vada. "Theory, LT?"
Lt KVada looks at Ahrele. "It's invisible, that's given... What it's made
of... ::picks up
his comm badge:: ...is what I want to know."
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
CaptAhrele looks at the scientist. "What did the initial scans show?"
Lt KVada continues puzzling over the device. "Variables of the construction
of
matter are infinite. How can it possibly tell apart an infinite number of
objects and
make a programed decision... ...unless it is, of course, not programmed?"
Nor looked at the Darmok officers. "The scans indicated an unknown metallic
element. Not much to go on."
Lt KVada threw out an idea to be considered. "Is there any possibility that
it could be
sentient? Like Data aboard the Enterprise?"
Lt1TKala looked at K'Vada. "That's a possibility. But if it were sentient,
I would
think it would have tried to communicate with the scientists."
Lt KVada shook his head. "Not necessarily. Many types of organisms have
instinctal
actions to defend themselves... yet can not communicate."
CaptAhrele looks at T'Kala. "What do you think, T'Kala?"
Lt1TKala spoke to everyone. Well, either way, it must have a power source.
Perhaps
we can trace that and find some way to shut it off."
CaptAhrele looks around. "There are no symbols or markings indicating
anything...
but you are right, it has to get its power somewhere. ::looks at the
scientist:: Has
anyone tried digging under it?"
Nor walks around to the other side. "We tried a little on this side, but it
just seems
to extend into the floor."
Lt1TKala walks over to look.
CaptAhrele looks frustrated. She leans forward and placing both hands on the
device
to have something to lean against while she thinks. The hum from the device
changes to produce a melodic chord. The lights in the room get brighter.
Lt1TKala looks at the device with renewing curiosity. "Interesting..."
Ahrele looks around at the group. "Well, I'd say we'd figured out how the
device
works, now all we need to do is figure out the correct way to "play" this
thing." She
looks at T'Kala. "Don't you have musical training, LT? Why don't you come
over
here and see what you can do with this thing. Doctor Nor, I'd like you to
find the
member of your team that made the original contact with this device. Maybe
if they
can remember exactly how and where they touched it, it could help us to
figure out
how to deactivate it. I am going back out to check with Huston on the
condition of
the of the people out there. I'm also going to see if there is any way to
reach the
Darmok." Ahrele looks at K'Vada. "LT, I don't think that T'Kala is in any
danger
down here but I'd like you to stay with her. I'll check back with you as
soon as I can."
K'Vada steps toward Ahrele. "Sir, I don't think it is wise for you to go off
alone."
Ahrele looks at the acting Chief of Security. "LT, I won't be alone. I'll
be with Dr.
Nor until I meet up with Huston and Lanel and I don't want T'Kala left down
here
alone. Carry on." Ahrele turns and leaves the chamber before the security
officer
can offer anymore arguments.

It was just another beautiful California day with the sun shining and not a
cloud in the sky.
Starfleet Command was bustling with activity as it usually was. It was 15
hundred hours,
time for Admiral Richardson's daily fleet wide report. The young ensign was
nearly
reaching the Admiral's office as he always had for the past couple of weeks.
::The ensign pressed the door bell chime and waited for the reply::
::With a calm and casual voice the admiral replies:: Enter.
::The young ensign walked in with the Admiral's PADD. He looked at the
beautiful view
of San Francisco from the admiral's office. He hoped that someday he would
get an office
with windows like this:: Here is your report sir.
Excellent ensign, with this hard work I have been having you do I see a
promotion in your
future.
::The young ensign smiles:: Thank you sir. If there is nothing else I will
be on my way
then?
::Admiral Richardson waves his hand dismissing the ensign and turns to read
his report.
He looks and finds the same old story. This starship researched some gaseous
anomaly
and such, but then something catches his eye. He started to read it outloud
to himself::
The USS Faragut has completed repairs and the captain has ordered that the
ship change
and move to intercept the Romulan Warbird Tirex. WHAT !?!?
::Richardson presses his computer display's button calling forth a
communications officer::
Can I help you sir? ::The communications officer states with boredom in her
voice::
::Eyes flaring and voice raging:: Get me the USS Faragut NOW! Direct it to
my office!
Ya... ya... yes sir! ::the woman stumbles and quickly moves to contact the
Faragut:: I
have them for you know sir.
::The Captain of the Faragut's face appears on screen:: What did you want to
see me
about sir? We are on a very important mission.
::Trying to act calm:: I contacted you to talk about your sudden change of
orders that you
so boldly decided to do.
::With a hint of glee in his voice:: Oh yes we are getting very close to
finding the Warbird
Tirex. I won't let them get away with what they did to my ship.
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
Those were not your orders "Captain" and I use that term lightly. ::the
admirals eyes red
as fire::
::The Faragut's captain gets a confused look:: Sir, what are you saying?
You are to disengage all activities involving the location and or discovery
of the Warbird
Tirex. You are to return to your previous orders of mapping out sector 251.
But...but sir...
No buts captain. If you do not follow my orders I will find someone else who
will is that
CLEAR?
Yes sir! ::The Faragut's captain disappears off the screen as it goes black::
Damned captains, always going off on their own judgment. When will they
learn who is in
charge here. Someday I will get some good captains, but it will be a long
time before that
day.
::Suddenly the screen beeps again:: Incoming message to Admiral Richardson on
secured
channel sir.
Put it through. ::the captain states::
::A female Starfleet officer appears on the screen::
Ah Cantra how is operation Komrad proceeding?
::The female shakes her head:: It could be better sir. We had to remove an
operative
from our operation due to possible leaks that could occur.
I take it you took care of that my dear?
::With that wicked female smile:: Of course sir who else would do the job.
We might be
needing your help soon sir. You know our "friends" out there.
I am well aware of the situation with them. I have been in contact with them
and changed
their orders. Why might you need me all of a sudden. Is there some sort of
problem
going on? You know how much I hate those who fail me.
::Shaking her head:: No sir, it's just that I'd rather get through this a
little bit faster I don't
like staying here like this and besides I think now would be more the time to
make our
move.
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
::The admiral squints his eyes:: You were not paid to think. If you keep
doing this
thinking you won't even have that one pip. I think I shall make my star trek
to Starbase
251. It is very near your location and I can better coordinate my efforts
there.
::Suddenly Cantra hears a female voice in the background:: Cantra where are
you I need
your help with something?
Be right there sir. ::Cantra turns back to the admiral:: Well I had better
get back on duty
before that lady makes me run more scans on anomalies. She probably wants me
to do
something so see can go off duty and meet her mister fix-it friend.
::The admiral nods as the communication ends. He presses the button to
contact the
communications officer once again::
::The communication officer jumps as she is startled be the admiral once
again:: Yes sir?
Contact the USS Martinique and tell them I am coming onboard. They are to
transport
me to Starbase 251 where I must oversee some ... business there.
The communications officer contacts the ship and confirms the transfer,
meanwhile the
admiral goes the transporter room to be beamed up. He arrives onboard the
Martinique
and goes to the bridge.
Admiral on the bridge! ::The commander of the Martinique stands::
::The admiral waves his hand:: You can dispense with the pleasantries
Commander, I am
here to put you back on schedule! ::He looks around:: Where is your captain,
Commander?
He is uh, down on shoreleave sir.
Well we don't have time to wait for him to return. ::The admiral turns to
the helm officer::
Set a course for Starbase 251 warp 6.
::The officer lays in the course and engages::

First Officer's Log SD9612.30
After beaming down to Tilben III, we have discovered that this planet is
under the influence of a dampening field. This dampening field has caused
the failure of our tricorders, communicators, and phasers.
We have made contact with the scientists that are working at this
archeological site and have learned of an alien device that has inadvertantly
been activated and appears to be the source of the dampening field and power
failures.
The other thing we have discovered on this planet is a camp of hundreds of
Federation citizens a large portion of which are Starfleet personnel that had
to beam down from various Federation ships. After meeting with the captains
of the other ships I have learned that these are indeed the missing
Federation vessels that we heard about on DS9. They were all drawn here
after passing through an energy wave that caused system failures on their
ships. The condition of the people is good and Dr. Huston is
coordinating his efforts with the CMO's of the other ships. The greatest
concern now is food and water. Emergency rations will last for only another
few days without further resources added to the supply.
I have left T'Kala in charge of trying to deactivate the alien device. I am
hopeful that she will be able to decern a pattern in the device's operation
and reach a conclusion on how to shut it down.

Tilben III, away team mission from the USS Darmok
Here's the log in a nutshell: The Darmok went to investigate something,
it got sucked into somewhere, an away team which I was in beamed down onto
this planet, none of our technological devices work anymore (Never did trust
them), found us lots of stranded people, find out the Darmok is going to
crash and burn up into the atmosphere because of some device that brought us
here in the first place, the device cannot be shut off or destroyed (In
anyway that we have so far investigated) due to the fact
that an intelligent forcefield surronds it. Captain Ahrele went off on her
own against my will and before I could say anything.
Theories on the intelligent focefield?: 1. It's sentient. The device,
that is. 2. Something that's sentient is controlling it. And we don't know
where they are because our scanners don't work. 3. The organisms that
created it are advanced beyond our comprehension and can create an automatic,
intelligent machine that is not sentient. 4. Gremlins inside the machine
control it. I'm doubtful of that one.
Theories on how to turn it off, destroy it, disable it, etc.?: None.
Using our technology, highly doubtful. Using force, that's been proven to be
out of the question.
How then? Perhaps we are doomed.
The food problem: Too many people are stranded on this planet. Food
supplies will soon run to the point of too little. Our only hope is to stop
the machine. Good luck there.
Signing off...

Computer, open my duty log.

I was on the away mission that beamed down to investigate the planet we are
currently orbiting in the Tilben system. Once we arrived, we discovered that
temporary survival shelters had been set up although they appeared to be
deserted. Upon further investigation, however, we discovered that the
scientists were nearby at an archaeological dig. We also discovered that
there was some kind of dampening field in effect because none of our devices
would work. Our tricorders, phasers, and our comm badges
were useless.
We met Dr. Nor, one of the archaeologists, who told us that the crew members
of all of the missing ships were also on the planet. He told us that they
had been forced to evacuate their ships when it was determined that the
orbits were decaying. I asked him if they had any idea what was causing the
problem and he led us to a strange device located deep within the dig.
Apparently, the scientists had somehow accidentally turned on the device
four days ago, and that is when all the problems began. They had not been
able to discover a way to turn it off. The machine had some kind of
protective force field and there was no power source that was readily
apparent.
At first it appeared that the device had no control panel, but we
accidentaly discovered that it could be controlled by musical tones. But we
didn't know the exact combination that should be used to turn if off. I
tried several and managed to turn the lights on and off, heat up the room,
and even turned on some sort of communication device. This allowed me to
communicate with the Darmok.
Counselor Sierra showed up and because of her musical background was able to
decode some tablets that Ahrele found. She discovered the correct
combination of tones and managed to turn the machine off. Immediately all
of our phasers, tricorders and communicators began to work again. We were
also able to transport back to the ship.
Once everyone was back on board the Darmok, we began organizing the rescue
of all of the evacuees. But we also received some bad news. Capt. Tnagra
announced to the crew that he would be retiring from Starfleet and returning
to Tama. We are currently on our way there now.
As one of his final acts as Captain of the Darmok, Tnagra promoted Sierra
and I to Lieutenant Commander.

Re: Supernova
Commander, I understand how important studying this supernova is to you,
however, due to our detour to Tama to deliver Capt Tnagra home, we will be
unable to go to the gamma quadrant to witness it. I feel it is important that
all our crew be present for his departure from the ship, so I will not
consider a small team in a shuttle at this time. Besides, we both know that
a shuttle just wouldn't have the power to get out of there if something
should go wrong.
Please be aware that we will continue to seek out all possible alternatives
to search for Trista in a safe manner.

Re: LCdr T'Kala
I want to advise you of a request I received from LCdr T'Kala and my response
to her following my review of the information.
T'Kala has become aware of a star that is going to be going supernova within
the next few days. She asked me to divert the Darmok or send a shuttle to
study the phenomena in hopes of gaining information that will lead to the
ability to cross over to the alternate universe in search of Trista. I have
reviewed the data and I believe that while there is the possibility that the
fabric of space will be ripped following this explosion, there is a very high
probability that the explosion will be so
unpredictable that to get close enough to take the readings that T'Kala is
suggesting would be extremely hazardous to anyone in the vicinity.
My recommendation is that no Darmok personnel be in the vicinity of this star
when it explodes. I have advised T'Kala of my recommendation to you.

Lt.Cdr. Rhydarr Sierra, ship's counselor, checks on PADD on desk, humming to

Sierra: ::smiles:: Welcome again, Lieutenant. Care to have a seat?

Sierra: ::walks over to replicator::: One large Guatemala Antigua
coffee, black, hot. ::takes steaming cup and walks over to a seat::
Sperol: Coffee. I thought only engineers drank that.
Sierra: ::laughs:: Well, there are those who think I drink too much
tea... ::rolls eyes slightly:: Whatever suits the mood.
Sperol: I never was a tea drinker myself.
Sierra: ::takes a sip::::glances down at the incident report on the PADD in
her lap, and the request from Dare to press charges:: ~~Let Security deal
with that part...~~
Sperol: ::serenely oblivious::
Sierra: Can you tell me how this all started?
Sperol: ::His eyes are drawn to the bookcase as he begins to speak::
Honestly, I'm not sure. I remember a holodeck, then the hallway, then...it's
all a blur.
Sierra: ::smiles encouragingly:: What happened in the holodeck?
Sperol: Holodeck. I was just finishing another session in my Marathon
program. ~~The one where I shot you~~ Then...well... I think...this is going
to sound absurd...
Sierra: ::watches the expressions on Sperol's face, arches an eyebrow::
Sperol: Do you know anything about Earth mythology? Specifically Greek and
Roman?
Sierra: ::thinks about it for a moment:: Somewhat. The gods, that sort
of thing?
Sperol: Yes, exactly. ::eyes continue to fix on bookcase:: Well, I'm not too
up on it myself, but somewhere in there, there is a god of some sort.
Sierra: ::turns to see what he's looking at:::wonders why her bookcase
is so captivating::
Sperol: ::continues:: And he, known as...oh, what am I talking about?!?
Sierra: ::looks at him, eyebrow arching further:: A god of some sort?
Sperol: No, I mean why am I saying this. Obviously, I was not well at the
time.
Sierra: And you don't remember anything? ::gently:: Why don't you tell
me what you do remember?
Sperol: Images, jumbles of images. None of them make much sense.
Sierra: ::makes a few notes on her PADD:: What were they?
Sperol: Well, that god thing I was trying to talk about. Something about
spilled liquid. ::hesitates:: Attacking Dare. Did that really happen?
Sierra: ::nods:: Yes it did. And he's ... not too happy about it.
Sperol: ::His gaze finally strays from the bookcase, only to settle on the
aquarium:: No, I wouldn't expect that he would be.
Sierra senses that Sperol is having a hard time concentrating; she crosses
legs and glances at the PADD again.
Sperol: After the attack, I was apparently rendered unconscious. When I woke
up, James told me something. Something about a chemical. And, well, that's
it, really. Since then, I've requested to be put off-duty. ::finally glances
at Sierra:: But you knew that already.
Sierra: Do you feel you are unable to complete your duties because of
the incident?
Sperol: I don't know! I don't know what happened!
Sierra sighs slightly as she watches Sperol get agitated.
Sperol: Even our good doctor said that I'm not perfectly fine!
Sierra: Describe that... god you saw.
Sperol: No, it was just like a dream. Not a corporeal character. It, no, he,
had stubby wings... He was completely naked. A young boy of some sort, I
think. ::stops::
Sierra looks at Sperol with curiosity.
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
Sperol: And...well...
Sierra: I do believe that sounds like Cupid, Sperol....
Sperol: Cupid. ::resignedly, says:: Yeah.
Sierra: ~~That would explain Rogers talking about "flying nekkid
creatures"~~ ::smiles to herself::::grins:: ~~Myths or realities?~~
Sperol: ::sighs quietly:: That's what I thought.
Sierra: And have you seen this creature often? ::wonders if it's a
widespread crew affliction::
Sperol: What?!? No, that one time, if I saw it at all!
Sierra: Calm down, Sperol.... nobody's accusing you of anything.
Sperol: ~~Why is she smiling?~~ ::tries to calm himself:: I know, I know.
::gaze reaffixes on bookcase:: It's like I'm going crazy or something.
Sierra: ::makes a few more notations on PADD:: Crazy...? No....
::shakes head:: You're not the first to report this ... phenomenon....
Sperol: ::tries to hide a really big expression of surprise:: What? This is
a...phenomenon now? ::tries to recenter his emotional state::
Sierra: ::shakes head:: Let's just say it... sounds familiar.

Sierra: ::looks at him:: Do you have a problem facing me after what
happened?
Sperol: ~~I wonder...~~ Yeah, just a bit.
Sierra: It's okay. I'm fine, you know.
Sperol: And Dare?
Sierra: ::arches eyebrow:: Well... not too happy, as I said.
::wonders if she call talk Dare out of his request::
Sperol: ::continues to stare at bookcase:: Yeah. I mean, if I were him, I
would have me thrown in the brig or something!

me I'm not insane.
Sierra: ::laughs:: No problem.
Sperol: And thank you for not declaring me unfit. And thank you...::stops
himself:: Thank you.
Sierra: You're welcome.... welcome..... welcome.
Sperol: ::smiles slightly as he stands::
Sierra: ::stands to walk with Sperol to door:: Well if you remember

I have dealt with a lot of people during the last few weeks who have reported
seeing a small flying creature. Based on a session with Lt. Thomas Sperol, I
believe we are dealing with a rogue Cupid.
Huston has reported finding a chemical present in Sperol's bloodstream after

find a innoculation against this chemical's effects.

It was just another one of those days in engineering where nothing truely
happened except for the normal maintenence checks and diagnostics. After
working several hours to increase our warp power the engineering team was
able to increase the power output by .8 %. Not what I had hoped for but an
increase none the less.
So far it has been awhile since we have had any serious problems with the
warp nacelles so I am extreamly happy at that. Oh and one other thing to
note: Ensign Gears tripped on the engineering carpet dropping all the tools
she was carrying around the warp core. We spent a fun part of our day
picking those up. Note to the people who fix the carpet: Make it flatter so
my people don't trip over it.

I sometimes thing that Starfleet needs one of these ships and I would be
happy to show them how. Q was our bartender and seemed to enjoy it. I
always knew there was a way to get a Q to have some fun without snapping
their fingers and blowing up galaxies. And probably the most interesting
thing to come into my dreams was the arrival of ::he pauses:: Katerina Janar.
I don't know why she was there but somehow she jumped out of nowhere and was
on my bridge. Of course Q with his antics decided that he would prefer her
in some other clothing instead of her uniform. He snapped his fingers and
whoosh she was wearing a bikini, definetely Q's style.
::He stops and thinks about what he just said and ponders the thought::
Wait if this was my dream then Q wasn't one doing anything, it was me!

Maybe my dream was because of that hangover I had the other day, yeah that
must be it. Oh who am I kidding. Note to self: Never tell anyone of this
dream.

After returning from the away mission I first went into engineering to check
and make sure all was running smoothly. It was so I headed to the Captain's
RR to debrief him on what happened onboard the science ship. As I arrived on
the bridge I heard that familiar beepeing of the communications system
informing us that we were being hailed. I informed Captain Tnagra of this
and he directed it to his office. I waited paitently while he talked with
the Ferengi, always a charming talk I am sure. I called
Doctor Ryder who also accompenied me on the away mission to tell the captain
of the information he found.
There was some wierd machine on the planet's surface which seemed to be
causing all sorts of problems and as usual we seemed to be caught in the
middle of something wierd. The ships systems were taking many power drains
and we were having communications trouble just as the science ship did. I
recomended that we leave the area as soon as possible and quarintine the area
but the captain told me we were here to fix the problem not push it off. I
was correct but I still felt we were in a dangerous
situation.
After my debriefing with the captain we all walked onto to the bridge only to
see Lieutenant Katerina Janar lying on the ground in a comatose state. The
doctor quickly wisked her away to sickbay and I returned to engineering to
give the captain the 115% power rating he wanted. It took me some time and
eventually the warp core started to buckle but my assistant engineer arrived
at just the right time to help me stabilize the warp core.
Once complete with everything I handed over the baton to Lt. Rogers and went
to sickbay to see how Lieutenant Janar was doing. Sometimes there are things
more important than duty.

The War kats are a species considered to be sentient, They Have unique
abilities of Intradimentionally phase shifting with no known distance as

They pick the person they want to bond with and are able to communicate
meatally with all presently known species.
They are nativ to the Gamma Quadrant.
They are anble to link minds and form a Group Mind which they can ust to
Mentally ans spiritually, and in some cases speed the physical healing of any
one
They when full grown reach the size of a small old Earth Puma about 150lbs
and 6' long , the fur is generally glossy black but there have been Albinos,
and those with Mouse grew fur.
The race of war kats is old almost as old as the TIN MAN as seen in STNG>
The Warkats in Ancient Times were Known to go into Battle with there person
and are formidable adversaries,
They generally use energy by absorption th live, but also ear reg foods to
supplementthere diet,
When a Female gives birth there are usually 6 kittens born and within a few
days are able to fend forthemselves, by going about selecting the one they
want to bond with.
Sadly the War Kat race is almost extinct in the Gamma Quadrant, and there
home world is not known at this time,
However the race has been blessed with the additionof 6 new borns on the

Ahrele walked into the Darmok's Ready Room and looked around. The room still
looked like Tnagra's office. She figured it always would. Even her L'Kotai
plant which she had moved into the left corner gave the room a distinguished
Tamarian look. Actually, she liked the plant in this room; it just seemed to
fit.
Ahrele walked to the desk and sat down. She had requested a different chair
than the one that Tnagra had used, but had kept his for an extra seat. Her
smaller frame fit better in this new chair, unfortunately, it also had a new,
stiff feel to it. She squirmed, trying to get comfortable as she reached
over to access the comm panel.
"Computer, record and send the following report to Admiral Nortok's office,
Starfleet Command, Earth."
>Working
"On SD9701.10 at approximately 1900 hours, LCdr T'Kala Jahnari left the USS
Darmok without authorization. In an attempt to gather information that she
hoped would lead to the eventual rescue of FsLt Trista, LCdr T'Kala took a
shuttle to the Gamma quadrant to observe the supernova.
At approximately 2300 hours, T'Kala's absence from the ship was discovered
and a team of officers was sent to retrieve her. The team arrived only
moments before the supernova and despite their best attempts to lock onto
T'Kala's shuttle, they were unable to rescue her from the resulting spacial
rift that was recorded on sensors.
It is my belief that LCdr T'Kala is probably alive in an alternate universe;
perhaps the same one that she had experienced before. I formally request
permission to launch a complete investigation of this phenomena and search
out any possible means of retrieving the Darmok's lost officers.
Computer, attach sensor logs SD9701.10 recorded by the long range shuttle
Borealis to the preceeding message and send."
>Files accessed and attached. Message has been sent. Verification of
receipt upon accessing from SFC.
Ahrele pushed the button shutting down the comm terminal and squirmed in the
chair again. The chair was definitely not comfortable.
