I spent my shift in Sickbay overlooking experiments and checking PADD
entries. There were a few flucuations in readings on a couple of specimens. I
refered these anomalies to Dr Salina. After my shift I went and visited with

OPEN LOG
Courtney and I came back to the ship from visiting some desendants. We
talked for a while and then we came to the bridge. We both were shocked to
find that the Captain was resigning from her post to live with her
desendants. I went to her quarters to find a very emotional Courtney, I said
goodbye to her, more like a "See ya later". I hope that she will lead a happy
life down on the planet. We will all truely miss her.

=/\=BEGIN LOG=/\=

After spending time with my grandson on the planet. I returned to the ship
for my shift. There I was informed that the Captain was leaving the ship to
set up a home for herself planetside. She would not be going with us when we
returned to space. The crew is in shock. Disbelief is the tone of all
conversations on board. No one can beleive it. Captain Henson...leave us.
Give up her command? This
must be a dream it cannot be happening are just some of the conversation I
have overheard. I can understand her feelings on this I too am torn between
the desire to return to space & the longing to stay with the family that I
have found here. A family that is my own.
I know this one thing she will be sorely missed by this crew. Her guidance
has carried us through some hard times.

Things are kind of quiet here on sickbay. Routine observations, diagnostic
checks and protocols are the rule of the day. Ensign O'Reilly is showing real
promise. She continues to amaze me with the efficiency that she handles her
duties. We are currently awaiting to attempt a lift off from this planet. Dr
Mackenzie has the Medical staff working to ensure that we are ready for any
medical
contingency. We are. This are the best medic's I've ever worked with and I
am proud to be counted among them.

Dutywise it was a pretty routine shift. We worked on diagnostics and control
checks. We did our initial medical evals on the two new crew members. They
seem nice enough. A little nervous but willing to jump in there and get
involved. Having a little problem with BioBed #3. The scanner is not at the
proper magnification. Have asked engineering to take a look and see if they
can fix it.

I worked on the finishing touches and final testing sequence of the power
grid Links and the Port nacelle power conduits. If they come out nominal we
can power up that nacelle and be able to achieve a better speed. The sensor
array relays are all back online and the different diagnostics that I have
run on their part of the ship all have comeback in the green. I finished the
duty shift and s I was leaving I saw Lt. Rigel...
Chago>“Good evening sir how are you today?”

Duty Log
Stardate:9606.13
Lt. Cmdr. Dana Torres
Chief Engineer
USS Columbia NCC-101744

<<Begin Log>>

I arrived on the bridge to start my duty. We were briefed and then
dissmissed to return to our stations. I had recieved two new Ens. in my
dept. and proceeded to wait for them on the TL. They joined me and we made
our way to main engineering. When we arrived I went to my office to let the
new Ens. look around thier new work place. After a few mintues I returned to
give them the dreaded *speech*. I had shortened it and got right to the
points because I was concerned about my missing ACE. Lt Rigel
had not shower for his duty shift and I did not have the time to call SB.
When I was finished with my speech I asked the two Ens. to run a level two
diagnostic on all systems. I went back to my office to read past duty shift
reports when I was interupted by the red alert sounding. I ran from my offie
and asked Ens. Onestar and Ens Santiago to cease the diagnostics just in case
of an attack. I called the bridge to see what was happending and while I was
doing that ME was invaded by a Cardie. The
Ens. went to jump him as I ran for my office and my phaser. I returned to
find my assistants fighting him and Security responding to the boarding. The
Cardie was finally subdued and I left ME to the Bridge and left my Ens to
finish the scans. I arrived on the bridge and went to my station. Grace and
Ultimo came out of his RR talking about some plan and meantioned the words
engines and I asked what thery were doing and was informed not to worry. I
tried not to worry and went back to reading some
reports and noticed a problem in the diagnostics and asked Ens Santiago to
re-check them and then a incident incured with Grace and Ultimo and needless
to say I was relieved of duty and I left my comm badge and went to my
quarters.

Chief Engineer
USS Columbia NCC-101744

::Dana walks into her office and is surprised to see Rigel sitting behind her
desk. She frowns and walks a little closer. He has not noticed her presence
yet. She leans over her desk and yells::

Torres>RIGEL!!!!!

Rigel>::he almost jumps right out of the seat::Dana, dont do that to me.

Torres>::smirks::Well what the heck are you doing at my desk?

Rigel>::looks down at the desk and looks back up to her::I didnt expect you
in here during this watch.

Torres>::nods::That is pretty clear Rigel. ::motions::Well may I have my
office back?

Rigel>::stands quickly and nods::Oh sorry, of course ::narrows his eyes as he
walks around the desk.::What are you doing here at this time of night?

Torres>::moves around the desk and takes a seat::I couldnt sleep. Nightmares

Rigel>::stands in front of the desk and looks down:: Nightmares?

Torres>::looks down at her desk and nods::Yeah, hey listen Rigel I need to
finish my duty log you think we could talk about this later.

Rigel>::leans forward and lifts her chin::You bet Chief::smiles and walks out
of the office::

<<Begin Log>>

Last duty shift was very interesting. I started in ME and Rigel was called
away on a AT mission. I decided to see how my Ens work so I left Santiago in
charge while I went to the bridge. I entered the bridge and informed the
Capt of my arrival and headed to the Science station to see if Grace's
console was still working correctly. Ens Santaigo informed me that there was
a error in the coding for the warp core so I headed to my station. I checked
what he was talking about and asked him to check the
gel packs. Almost at that point we had been hit on the bridge. I fell and
I guess hit my head pretty hard. I gathered myself as fast as I could and
got back to my station and commed down to ME and had Onestar work on getting
the shields back up. Ens Santiago later informed me that he had checked the
gel packs and did indeed have to replace a few and the error was fixed.
Onestar did a wonderful job as well getting the shields back up to par. I
made my way over to some of the destroyed consoles to
do some quick repair work on the bridge just in case we needed some more
stations. I guess I had been bleeding quite a lot because when Rigel
returned he seemed concerned about me. I told him I was fine and that he
should go check on the helm panel. I proceded to fix the Science station.

<<End Log>>

::feels her head and the bump still there::

Torres>Wow I must have hit it harder then I thought. ::looks at her
calander::I guess I can have it checked and have that damn physical at the
same time. Computer...make a appointment to see Ens Dala for a physical.

Computer>::beeps::Done

::she looks back up and sees Rigel hovering around the door, she motions for
him to come in::

Rigel>::smiles::Are you done?

Torres>::nods and sits back::Ok here it is....

DUTY LOG : Ensign David Onestar
STARDATE :9606.25
Reported for duty at 21:00 HRS. was assigned to Away Team to Arkkis 4 along
with
USF ULTIMO
FSTLT.PHARR
While on the planet I ran several tri-corder readings that picked up multiple
life forms ,
This was confirmed by FSTLT.PHARR , after the confirmation we moved out at
heading 101 m 0
through the jungle walking several paces ; the away team spread formation
myself fanning left , USF ULTIMO going straight , and FSTLT. PHARR moving
right .
At this time unknowing to the away team the COLUMBIA picked up 3 galor class
cardiassian ships on sensors.
Two galors destroyed and one galor severly disabled.
The COLUMBIA has been having readout problems sporadically through the ships
control sections, First 4 gel packs in memory bad then readout problems , I
understand a new ship straight out of drydock will have problems .
the Away team registered one lifeform , the team converged and moved in the
direction of the reading and discovered JEZBELTWO laying semi - consious ,
Setting up buffer patteren enhancers the away team was transported off the
planet and back to the COLUMBIA .
I dropped my pack off at my quarters and returned to my regular duty station
in main engineering .

We preceeded to Arakis IV to rescue Cdr Jeze. Captain Ultimo lead an AT
consisting of FstLt Pharr, Ens Court, Ens Onestar. LtCdr Tomalak was left in
command of the ship. We approached the beam in point and were met by a Galor
class warship. The Cardassian Captain started to hail us useing a general
hail. We beamed in the AT and proceeded to try and talk our way out. Tomalak
turned the ship around and started to head back when I reminded him of our
obligation to Ultimo and the team. I was yelled at
about the Captains orders, but stood my ground. I know Ultimo wouldn't leave
me and I was not about to leave him. Two more Galors arrived and we were
fired upon. We returned fire and the battle begun. FstLt Eddy, LtCdr Brad and
FstLt Mond all reminded Tom of Ultimo's standing orders. I reminded him of
Ultimo and the team. We couldn't leave. Tom didn't let me down and we stayed
and fought. We took out the lead Galor and proceeded to work on the other
two. We took heavy fire, but we held in. According to
reports at the time, our shields droped to 43% and engineering did a
fantastic job of bringing them back up to 79%. LtCdr Brad ran Tac and
continued to fire on the Galors. We took out another Galor and as we finished
up the third, three more showed up. Tom held his ground and we fought like
there was no tomorrow. We were able to destroy two more Galors when the AT
signaled thier readiness for beam out. We fired at the last Galor and it
fled. We beamed the AT aboard and left for Federation space. Mission
accomplished.
Several promotions were handed out. First, EnsCourt was promoted to Ltjg.
Lt Rigel was promoted to FstLt. Finally, (this is the shocker) I was promoted
to LtCdr and made acting XO. (I still don't believe it!!!) I will do my best
to prove my worthiness of the position.

Chief Medical Officer's Report
FstLt Angel Pharr
Stardate: 9606.25

SICKBAY LOG:

Admitted for Observation: Commander Jezebel Blythe. Re-located from the
surface of Arrakis IV.
Attending Physican: FstLt Pharr
Health Status: Excellent physical condition *( note classified report,
Medical Report, Blythe). Preliminary investigations demonstrate a form of
amnesia. No causative factors can be identified.
Psychological Status: Amnesia. Demonstrates a knowledge of language and
retains short term associations. *(see additional notes in Medical Report;
Blythe)
Prognosis: Unavailable at this time.
Recommendations: Commander Blythe is in excellent physical condition, with
no limitations. Her current state of amnesia will not allow her to resume
active duty status. It is my opinion that Commander Blythe is not a threat to
security and that she be given access to the ship and her former quarters. I
recommend continued observation and work with Counselor Mond.

Admitted for Triage and Treatment:

Five crewmembers were admitted for traumatic injuries occurring during the
battle with the Cardassian Galors. Attending Physicans: Ensign DOC and
Ensign Court.

OTHER REPORTS:

>Pharr : computer... Record the following memo to be sent to; Commodore J.
Saulk, Federation Science & Research, Regula VII.
Dear Jonah... It has been a long time since Washington DC and our project on
the Relavis Spores. I am forwarding a project regarding; hRomulus
Influenza. The research and initial testing were performed by Ensign
Courtney McKenzie. A young Physican stationed on the Columbia. Preliminary
findings demonstrate an enhanced recovery time from hRomulus strains of
Influenza. Testing was performed on a homogenous population of humanoid
extraction. Recovery rates were one half of the usual three week
incubation period. I am encouraged by Ensign Courtney McKenzie's work... I
believe she has a promising future as a research scientist. I would like to
introduce you two, whenever you are in town... :) Angel

PROMOTIONS:
Ensign Courtney McKenzie has been promoted to Lieutenant (junior grade).
Congratulations Courtney.

First Lieutenant Angel Pharr has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant
Commander.

The Away Team mission to Arrakis IV was successful. We recovered one
Starfleet Officer... Commander Jezebel Blythe from the polar regions... I am
still amazed. *See Medical Report; Blythe :: pausing... :: << How did
Ultimo know where Jeze was? In her current condition, Jeze couldn't have
notified Starfleet... >>

~computer~ Your transcription has ceased... Do you wish to end report?

>Phar :: Looking up sharply :: << oops, this is a duty log... not my
personal log >> Continue report...

The Away Team consisted of Captain Ultimo, Ensign OneStar and myself. No
hostile forces were encountered. Ensign OneStar performed his duties with
precision and great expertise. While we were on the planet's surface, the
Columbia came under attack by Cardassian forces. Time was of the essence and
we were forced to evacuate the planet's surface. This required subduing and
sedating Commander Blythe for re-location to sickbay. 10cc's of b-Endorphine
were administered via hypospray solution. Commander
Blythe recovered while under sickbay supervision.

The AT arrived on the planet with out any problems. When they arrived back
they returned with Cdr Blythe who we all thought was dead. I understand that
she is suffering from amnesia. Star fleet records record only one other case
of a crew member coming back from the dead, they also show.d signs of memory
loss. That person was a Captain Spock. Once the AT was down on the planet's
surface we were engaged by 3 Cardie Galors. Tomalak, to the protestations
of my self and ohters, disobeyed Ultimo's
order to leave orbit. We were able to take out two of the Galors but
sustained heavy damage. Our shields were severly weakened and at one point
our phasers were disabled. The third galor decided to retreat, which was
rather lucky for us. Soon after we recovered the AT and began work repairing
the ship.

Duty Log
Ensign Juan C. Santiago
SD-9606.24

While waiting for the Computer to make a warp core systems diagnostics to
ensure that the port nacelle had been totally repaired I looked over some
technical specifications and the different system error codes that had been
encountered by the other ships of our class.. we had survived the two most
dangerous of the list.. the shield modulation glitch and the containment
field problem... I have written a detailed report to Chief Torres explaining
the procedure to remedy this apparent design flaw and have
sent it through Lt.Rigel. there a few others that merit looking into like
the possibility of the transporter system to get into a diagnostic loop if
bombarded by tetryon particles... while in the process of transport.. its not
a fatal flaw because the subjects intransport would not materialize but stay
in the pattern buffer until the operator disengaged the diagnostic program
...we haven’t been victims to this “bug” yet but it is listed as a
possible... another and this one is potentially dangerous is
the phaser bank heat exchange cowling shutdown problem... if phaser’s are
fired at a faster than normal rate or for any length of time in excess of
45 seconds.. at a stretch the heat exchange cowling sensor would trigger a
auto overheat shutdown... and the phasers would stop operating.. for
approximately 15 minutes... in battle that could be potentially fatal...I’m
sure the Chief know this and has made the appropriate routines in the system
but is sure made for interesting knowledge for the
future...The Computer finished the diagnostics and all readouts were those
asked for by the tech-specs...So were back up to speed...the rest of my shift
I busied myself on checking and rechecking the different systems and working
on an experiment that I think would benefit the ship...and us in ME for a
rapid response to damage control...at the end of the shift I went back to my
quarters...

I was the only ensign today because OneStar was sent on the away team to the
planet...I went through some diagnostics and ran some automation programs to
help me out in the consoles...when we were engaged by the Cardassians it was
apparent that the firefight was a bit more than the automatic compensator
program could handle and so I had to disengage it...then one of the announced
bugs in the system raised its ugly head in the form of the erroneous shield
percentage readouts...it read both on the
consoles in ME and on the bridge are 43% but was actually 58% Both Lt. Rigel
and myself worked to compensate and to reinforced the shields .. they slowly
came up and we were spared another grimy end...I also notified the tactical
station about the problem with the extended phaser fire shutdown.. they were
happy to know this but it never came to the point of being a problem. I will
be working to adapt an Engineering Tricorder as a stop gap measure until we
can get a new console module, to the system
console to monitor readout drift.. and to show the actual readings of
shields and power transfer.
After the firefight was through everything went pretty much back to normal...
I recommend that a similar setup be installed on the bridge console and that
a module be ordered to that console also. The shift ended with the last
report of the damaged control teams about the progress of the repairs and so
I logged out of the system and returned to my quarters...

Sitting in the conference room... the door is secured against intrusion.
P.A.D.D.'s and a Tricorder are laying on the table. Phar is standing...
staring out the portal...

>Phar :: Turning back toward the room :: Computer... Please record the
following report and seal documentation under Security Classification 2:
Captain Ultimo, Counselor Mond, XO Korg and CMO Phar.

~computer~ Security Classification initiated.

>Phar : I have secured the following report based upon the medical findings
of Commander Jezebel Blythe. I have run level 1 Diagnostics on all of my
equipment to ensure that my findings are consistent and represent the facts
in this case. It is my subjective opinion that Commander Blythe has
undergone some... phenomenal transformation... yet, I can find no medical
evidence to demonstrate how this process occurred. My inital diagnosis of
Traumatic Amnesia... has been ruled out based upon the evidence
provided during Neural Imaging Scans and Pyschotricorder sessions. Both
systems verified that Commander Jeze has no traumatic memories recorded, no
physiological impairments, no evidence to support intrusion or tampering with
her psychological functions. She is in essence... starting over with
linguistic skills and motor function skills intact. I have found no
previously recorded cases.. with corresponding findings.

>Phar :: Pausing and taking a deep breathe before continuing ::
For the record... Commander Blythe's physiological findings... coincide with
the physchological reports. I know that Counselor Mond will be performing
more extensive Psychological profiling and I am anxiously waiting for her
findings. I am concerned that whatever happened to Commander Blythe... is
beyond the scope of our current technologies. Please note the following
physiological reports;

Blythe, Jezebel... Commander, USS Columbia.

Physical Appearance: A very healthy, humanoid female. No scars or injuries
recorded.
Patient is alert, cooperative and friendly. Demonstrates an awareness of
time, place and person. No physical limitations or restrictions.

Bioscanning: Biological functions operating at peak performance. No previous
injuries, trauma's or antibodies found. Slightly elevated BHg levels...
consistent with gestational period of 5 solar days.

*Note: These readings are not consistent with Commander Blythe's personal
medical history. For example, on Stardate 9507.04, Commander Blythe was
admitted to sickbay with a traumatic amputation of the left arm at the
Acromium Process. Surgical reattachment was successful... but, there should
be residual readings on bioscanning analysis. Also note gestational age is
five solar days. Commander Blythe has no memories preceeding five solar
days. During an initial interview... Jeze recalled a man in a
Starfleet Uniform, of Command insignia, being present prior to the Away
Team's arrival. She insists there was no physical contact and bioscans...
confirm.

Detronal Sanning: Used for recording the DNA patterns of living tissue. A
baseline pattern for a humanoid of Commander Blythe's chronological age,
should demonstrate a mutational variation of 0.57. This is a naturally
occuring phenomena. Variations increase with a history of injury and/or
infection. The Detronal Scans on Commander Blythe registered 0.01 variation.
This pattern is consistent with new born infants.

End report...

Duty Log:9606.14
EnsCourt(ney) McKenzie
Medical Officer

The new CMO was in here sometime recently. She had some complaints about
sickbay. Im going to try to get them up to her spects as soon as posible.
Im working and finishing all the incidebt reports now and begin screening the
crew. For the most time I was filling out reports and setting up a
screening scedule for the crew. While I was here there was only one
incident. My daughter and the child care teacher came in. Audrey was
having breathing problems because the teacher forgot to give
her the medication she was supposed to have. I gave her the medication and
just watched her for awhile. After she was all right I realized it was the
end of my shift. Instead of the teacher taking her back to the childcare
and I having to go pick her up, I just took her with me.

Duty Log:9606.15
EnsCourt(ney) McKenzie
Assistant Medical Officer

I finally got all my reports cought up and given to the new CMO. A few
people were in today for a few things. Someone came in with a broken ankle
from playing a game in the gym. I sent a letter to Ensign Makire requesting
that Danny be brought back in so I could do a check-up. I kept working on
cleaning up the sickbay so it would meet the CMOs standards.

EnsCourt(ney) McKenzie
Duty Log9606.16
Yesterday we had a briefing by FstLtPharr. She has initiated priority
status to our preparations.
Dala and I are to restock all emergency medical kits onboard. While doing
this we will have the
oportunity to meet our fellow crewmembers and assess their cross-training
skills as emergency
medical back up. Were not sure how were going to do it. We have figured
out that there are
about 250 kits to be restocked. Were not sure when were going to do it.
This will be fun. At
least Dala and I will have time to get to know each other. We started as
soon as Dala arrived. I
just found out that I will be the medial officer to go with Korgs team.

Duty Log:9606.17
EnsCourt(ney) McKenzie
Medical Assistant
I was chosen for the away team to go to the Cardassian ship. My job was to
treat someon if they
got injured and to watch out for Cardassians. Eddie got hurt right before
we got back to the
ship. FstLTPharr and I treated him in the transporter room before we got
him to sickbay.
FstLtPharr did all the reports so I dont have any.

Duty Log:9606.18
I have all of my physicaled sceduled. I finished that up and worked on my
samples. I let Dala
do most of the patient work. I found out some stuff doing my samples.
Ive been working on a
quicker treatment for the Romulan Flu. I almost have a solution.

Duty Log:9606.19
All right time for physicals. I sent the letter so the senior officers
requesting they pick a time.
I got a few done but not many. I only had a few people sceduled for today
most of whom came.
One person didnt show up because he was needed for a breifing. He is
supposed to come
tommarow. I worked on my sample a bit(youll find what happened in my
story). More
physicals tommarow.

Duty Log:9606.20
EnsCourt(ney) McKenzie
Assistant Medical Officer
More physicals. EnsDala was very helpful in doing them. I let her
handle patients while I did
my samples. Other than that we didn't do much. My sister finally got
around to sending me
some sapmles of plants and flowers from Earth and the suronding planets.
Mom is going to
send me some from Betazed. I'm going to use them as samples. MNore
stuff to work with.

Duty Log:9606.21
More physicals. I treid to work kon my saples(s) as much as possible. I
wprked on them
yesterday during my off time. On my way to the childcare center with Audrey
I was about run
over by two young boys. I gave them a lecture on running and told them to
get to where they
were supposed to be immediantly or I would make sure their parents knew what
was going on.
After that they moved quick! Nothing out of the ordinary to report. Great
news! I'm going to go test
the sample again today, Dala is coming too.

Duty Log:9606.22
I finally got a shorter cure. So obviously I didn't work on
that. I helped/did physicals,
and more samples. I'm trying some of the ones mom sent me. Not much else
to report.

Duty Log:9606.23
I admit, I was out of it at work today. I kept quiet and worked on
samples.
Dala had to remind me to keep working because I kept getting off track. We
had a few patients,
not to many. Were almost donen with physicals(YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).

oh, boy. LtTracey came in. She had been week and had
been passing out
recently. I scanned her with the bio scanner and discovered she had the
flu. It was a different
type of flu that makes you tired and lowers your blood count. I gave her
some medicine nand
asked her to stay in sickbay until I got of my shift so I could be sure she
was all right. Not
much later did many people come in with lots of injuries fromour ship being
fired upon. We had
way too many patients. EnsDOC came down and helped. I must sat he did a
great job, I, was
very impressesed. LtTracey helped also. FstLtPharr came in with Jeze who
was very
disoriented. By the time sickbay had calmed down I had been on duty for an
extra 45min. I was
also promoted from ensign to LtJg.

Duty Log:9606.25
I think I'm allergic to one of the samles. I'm not sure
which one yet. Depending on
which one I may stop testing it and give it to Dala. She givess alot of
help. Well I got
promoted and so did Phar. Phat also sent a letter to the sppropiate person
about my shourter
cure for the Romulan Flu. We only have one day of physicals left after
today. That will
give me mkore time to work on my samples. After a long day of sneezing my
nose hurts. I'm
going to take tommarow afternoon off. I have some important things to do.

Duty Log:9606.26
Ltjg Courtney Mussatt
Assisttant Medical Offiecer
I only worked the mornibg so my log isn't as large as usual. This morning
when I got to work
Dala was already here. She got up early to work out. I figured out which
sample is making me
sneeze. It's the baraberries from Bajor. I'm going to give the sample to
Dala. EnsJones came
in with an ankle injury. It turned out he had broken his ankle. I did one
metorpan treatment asn
asked him to start doing his own metorapan treatments at home. I asked him
to come back in
three days for a check-up. I did a little testing with potato casserole,a
traditional Irish food. My
findings were unconclusive, but I will check it some more.

Duty Log:9606.27
LtjgCourtney McKenzie
Assistant Medical Officer
I did FstLtEddyH physical today. He showed severe signs of stress. I
reccomended
that he see LtMond and stop whatever was stressing him. Eddy's physical was
one of the last
ones. Tommarow is mostly make-ups. I thing we have about 6. After
that we will be done.
During the time we didn't have patients I worked on my samples(duh). I
think I'm done testing
out the different things in poatato casserole. Some of the things in there
didn't look overly good.
I'm not sneezing as mucdh now since I gave Dala those samples. I wonder
what Dala's going to
do with them. I wonder what Phar will have us do next(I shouldn't have
asked that). LtjgEvans
came in, she had twisted her ankle, which was quickly treated.

Duty Log:9606.28
Ltjg Courtney McKenzie
Assitant Medical Officer
Only a few patients today. I did a weekly check of all the equipment.
Everythings in order. I
worked on my samplese some more. Uttaberries(from Betazed) are making a
very good
sample. I found that if I combine it with some other stuff I might be able
to make something. I
still haveto find the right thing.

Duty Log:9606.29
At about 09:00 hours this morning we had EnsBerkalo come in. She had
slipped by the side of
the pool fell in and hit her head on the side. She had a concussion when she
came in. She was
at Level 5 when she came in before we got her stabilized with Inaproviline.
I she's doing better
now and is down to Level 2. I breifed the next shift nurses and left her
in their care. I really
didn't have anytime to work on the samples.

Not much done today, EnsBerkalo is doing much better. She should be
released in a few days.
She's actually very nice. I'm still working with the uttaberries. I'm
working on finding something
that helps get rid of pain. EnsJones finally came back in so I could do a
check up, he was fine. I
finally heard back from Commodore J. Saulk, Federation Science & Research,
Regula VII.
Dear Courtney McKenzie
We have tested the sample you sent us several times. We have found that it
does
indeed work. It does cut the time in half. This shortened recorvery time
of the Romulan Flu will
really help people. This letter is to let you know that in the next 6
months it will start being used.
Congradulations on your findings asnd I hope that you will find more cures.

unknown until her returned with Commander Jeze.
During the mission, Ens Santiago was running and monitoring all systems while
i had a meeting with Cmdr Torres.Wns Onestar was with the away team
Ens Santiago discovered an anomaly when the bridge called regarding shield
level. We then rigged the tricorder to keep up with accurate shield force and
to enable us to determine the efficiency of the repairs.
Shields were fully restored within 10 minutes by diverting power from
nonessencial systems and from residual warp energy.
Commander Torres has instructed us to find and resolve the problems.

I started my duty shift in my office . I looked over some reports and Lt.
Rigel joined me and we had a brief conference. We went to Red Alert and Lt.
Rigel went out to ME to check on some problems. I stayed in my office until
I was needed. I then noticed that the shields were operating within Normal
parameters but Rigel was trying to divert power to them unnecessarily. I left
my office and went to ME to find out what the problem was. Lt. Rigel informed
me that the consoles in ME were all giving false
readings. He also informed me that they were having to do guess work using
an Engineering Tricorder. I proceeded to the Bridge to see if I could get
some readings from there. I arrived and Informed Brad of my presence on the
Bridge. I went to my station and took some readings. I confirmed that the
shield power was fine and that we were ok. I relayed the information to ME
and told them to get working on the problem. While I was giving them
readings Korg said the Nav. Dish was not functioning. I
checked it out and all it was, was a minor error reading in the gel packs.
I re-programmed it quickly and let him know that they were back online. We
stood down from Red Alert and then I left the bridge and headed back to ME.
I arrived and went back to my office. Lt. Rigel joined me again to finish
our meeting. While in our meeting The captain asked me to come to his RR to

and called a Red Alert. I notified the Captain and ordered the Columbia to
fire on the Maquis. The Admiral beat Ultimo to the
bridge and was imediatly taken by the Maquis. The Maquis captain demanded
weapons with I was willing to show the business end to. I talked with the
Captain a stalled for time till Ultimo returnd to the bridge. The Admiral
used his abilities to hide from the Maquis witch enabled us to prepare a
team. The team was not needed because the Admiral took control of the ship
and then beamed back the the Excelsior which was cloaked off our starboard

assume left the area. The Captain ordered two away teams to the Oregon to
search for survivors. We found many injured and beamed them back to the

Duty Log. Stardate 9607.01
LtCdr Angel Pharr
Chief Medical Officer
USS Columbia NCC - 101744

What began as a routine cruise to Starbase Everest, quickly changed to a Red
Alert scenario. Admiral Clements paid a visit to the Columbia for a surprise
inspection. I am pleased to report that the Medcial Department was in tip
top shape. The medical staff were all present and made a great impression on
the Admiral. While I was concluding introductions... a Red Alert was
initiated. Apparently, we responded to a distress signal from the USS
Oregon, only to find them under siege by the Maquis. I
deployed two of my best Doctors to the bridge... Ensign Dala and Ensign Doc.
I requested that my best surgeon... Lieutenant (jg) McKenzie remain in
sickbay and activate emergency medical protocals. We established our triage
protocals and began treating the incoming wounded. * see Medical Officer's
Report.

I received a communication that Lieutenant Commander Brad was on his way to
sickbay with injuries. When he did not show... I initiated a search,
assisted by Ensign DOC. We discovered the LtCdr unconscious in the turbo
lift. Scans indicated he was stable. * see Medical Officer's Report. Ensign
DOC assisted in moving Brad to a biobed. Lieutenant (jg) McKenzie and I
began treatment. The Columbia was rocked by an explosion... I asked for a
status report from Ensign Dala on the bridge. She reported no
injuries, situation stable. Two Away Teams were dispatched to retrieve
injured from the USS Oregon. I informed the XO that both Ensign Dala and
Ensign DOC were well versed in emergency triage and available to assist. I
was summoned to the bridge and left Lieutenant (jg) McKenzie in charge of
Medical. She preformed with great skill and acumen.

When I arrived on the bridge... Captain Ultimo informed me that I was to
assume the XO post. The chair felt good. I immediately requested status
reports from all departments and from the Away Teams. Once transporters were
back on line... Lieutenant (jg) OneStar initiated an evacuation of the
injured personnel to our sickbay facilities. The Away Teams returned to the
Columbia and we resumed headings for Starbase Everest.

what they would like, with my manuevers, Inertial Dampers present or not.
But my wild manuevers got the Maquis in a position
they would certainly strategicaly not like, and the Admiral left on his own
ship, the (obviously) heavily modified Excelsior. And so another happy
ending came to the Columbia.

USS Columbia

After our staff meeting on SD 9606.30 Commander Torres had ordered us to
recheck every circuit in the impulse propulsion system and the phaser systems
to try to find the reason for the overheating problem we have been
experiencing since the first time we came on board this new vessel.
Considering that we did not have an adequate shakedown cruise and were
involved in action from the beginning , the engineering staff has been
working on elaborate *patch* jobs to keep the systems operational.
Efficiency becomes difficult when we have surprise inspections by the high
command so close to the Cardassian border.

I am proud of the promotions of our Engineering officers:
Lts jg Juan Carlos Santiago and David OneStar. For the record, both of these
officers have been exceptional and I know I speak for Lt Commander Torres as
well when I say that they are an asset to our department and this vessel.

Phar is sitting in the Medical Department conference room. The familiar
PADD's arranged in front of her. One PADD contains the personnel file of
Lieutenant (jg) Juan Carlos Santiago. Phar taps her fingers on it...
comtemplating...

>Phar : I am curious about his prior infection with Terelian flu. While it
is a common infection among the Maquis... where and how did Mr. Santiago
become exposed.
:: Shaking her head :: I guess that the answer to that one... is not
particularly important at this time. :: Smiling :: He appears to be happy
and free of stress... and Dala... it is wonderful to see her smiling again.

She pushes the PADD away and reaches for the Medical File of Commander
Blythe. Activating the PADD... she begins her review of physiological
systems...

>Phar :: Sighing as she reviews the endocrinology reports ::
Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone... elevated +1, Luteinizing Hormone...
elevated +1, Follicle Stimulating Hormone... elevated +1.

Even without the Diagnostic Analysis provided by the scanner... it was
obvious that Commander Jezebel Odessa Blythe was pregnant. The question
was... who? And what would Jeze think. Would she want this child? And if
she continued to carry it... what would the genetic makeup be? Conception
had to occur on Arrakis and Commander Jeze genuinely did not remember an
encounter... and the physical evidence had verified a lack of... of
interaction. Could the father have been a Cardassian disguised as a
Starfleet Officer? Artifical Insemination? But, for what purpose?

Phar knew that the answers would lie in the genetic profiling of the fetus.
She had conducted the tests as a matter of protocal... but, ethically...
could she review the information without Jeze's understanding and approval.

>Phar :: Her head in her hands... :: I must have all of the information
available for Jeze... :: pausing :: ... for Jeze to make an informed
decision. She has to know that she is pregnant... and she has to know what
this fetus is.

>Phar : Computer... please locate Commander Jezebel Blythe and send a
message to meet me in the sickbay in one hour... thank you...

Phar settles into her chair and opens the analysis of the fetus...

I started my duty shift in ME supervising the repairs on the engineering
systems. As I was getting time lines for the repairs from Ftlt Rigel, the
Capt and the Admiral came down for an inspection. I explained what the
problems were and why ME looked so bad. He excepted my explanation and
headed out of ME. I went to my office to look at the updated repair list
when red alert sounded. I ran in to ME and asked for a update. My officers
told me that they could improvise and get some important systems
running. I left Rigel in charge and headed to the bridge to talk the Capt
and explain to him the importance not to get into a fight. In the process of
telling him this the Admiral was kidnaped by the Maquis. I told the Capt
that I could only get him limited shields and limited weapons and left to get
back to ME. We went through a minimal fight and nothing was damaged and
repairs continue.

We are currently enroute to Starbase Everest. Our estimated rendezvous time
is 20:00 Hours...Stardate 9607.29. Systems onboard the Columbia are
operating within Starfleet standard and we are running *at ease* toward our
destination. I am pleased to note the addition of a new physican and a new
science officer to the Columbia's crew. Orientations for new crewmembers are
progressing well. The Captain permitted *relaxed* status for the crew during
our voyage... I believe that the strains of our last
mission were beginning to wear on the crew. Most notably are the staff
members in engineering. They have been working around the clock to bring the
Columbia back up to her high standards. I have noted an increase in the
number of holodeck injuries... my initial hypotheses is that staff members
have been utilizing the holodeck to releave stress and tension. The number of
incidents of reconfiguring safety perameters has increased and the subsequent
injuries have been reporting to sickbay. I recommend
that the Security and Safety features of the holodeck be activated and
locked against tampering. *(See Medical Report: LtCdr. Torres, Dana.) **(See
Sickbay Report).
In other business, I spent time with Captain Ultimo discussing possible
therapies for Commander Jezebel Blythe. I will be following up on my
investigations. I have scheduled appointments with Counselor Mond and
additional meetings with Commander Blythe. I am determined to find a
plausible theory to cover the anomalies regarding the Commander's health
status and mental state.

Ens Larue, Assistant Science
Synopsis of the Borg

GENERAL:
The Borg are a race of enhanced humanoids from the Delta Quadrant who have
implanted themselves with cybernetic devices giving them great technological
and combat capabilities. There are different type of Borg equipped with
different devices for specific tasks. Each Borg is tied to the others via a
communications network which forms what is known as the Borg Collective. The
premise of the Collective is that there is only the Collective Borg, no
individuals. An extreme of the "all for one, one for all" philosophy. The
Borg have a high degree of intelligence and adaptability. The Borg were
first encountered in 2265 by the Enterprise-D with the assistance of Q.

DEFENSE AGAINST:
The most successful defense is not to engage them, however, if that is not an
option, the only known defense is to disrupt the Collective's communications
or to destroy a part of the Collective's consciousness. This method has been
used successfully on two occasions in the past, however, the Borg Collective
is very adaptable and identical methods would probably not work again.

HISTORICAL PAST ENCOUNTERS:
2265 Enterprise -D resulted in appointment of Lt. Cmdr Shelby in charge of
defense strategy for future Borg encounters.

2366 Enterprise-D captain captured by Borg, assimilated into Locutus of Borg
and subsequently rescued. Loss of 39 ships and 11,000 lives including USS
Saratoga. Borg ship destroyed in Earth orbit.

2368 Borg ship crashed on moon of the Argolis Cluster. One Borg rescued and
later returned.

2369 Federation outpost destroyed. Borg led by Lore who was later dismantled
by Lt. Cmdr Data.

We are now on yellow alert. Our mission is to shadow the Borg not engage,
however we must be prepared for all contigencies.

Lt OneStar Since we will not be using the transporters, you will be
responsible for programming different shield harmonics as a defensive
measure. download the commands required to Tactical and copy Commander Korg.
You will also prepare the tractor beam to use to repel us from the Borg Ship
in an emergency. The wavelength used must have variables, program
alternatives and download to the Bridge.

Lt Santiago. You will be responsible for monitoring the Impulse drive and the
phasers for efficiency and to ensure that they do not overheat if we have to
use them. Also you will program variations of wavelength and magnitude to
ensure that we can keep the Borg on their toes if so required. Photon
torpedos must be prepared as well. Download commands to the bridge. I will
also need you to assist me in Warp core monitoring and efficiency.

detected a Borg canine onboard it.The scout was with its shields at
maximum, and soon drained more of its engines to have higher shield
capacity. We then detected that the Borg ship was arming its weapons.I
reported that its weapons were at full power and were locked onto our

Duty Log

[Begin Log]

The USS Columbia was on its way to Starbase Everest when the XO, Cmdr Korg,
announced to the crew that the Borg were advancing toward our sector. Though
the Madison and Hawk are on their way to assist, it will be two days before
they can reach us. We went to Yellow Alert. Our department was ordered to
monitor the Borg activity.

I immediately increased the sensor array for wide-angle EM radiation imaging
and analog-to-digital voice pickup. The Quark population analysis counters
and Z-range particulate spectometers confirmed Borg Collective activity
consistant with the execution of their "absorption" or battle programs. We
also began a parametric scan of the nearby planet of Arcus II which revealed
Borg on the planet with nine (9) partially interred humanoid bodies in
varying degrees of decomposition. We had begun hydrogen-filter carbon level
scans when sensors alerted us to the launch of a Borg scout ship. We raised
shields and took defensive actions.

During the skirmish that followed, the Columbia's port nacelle was damaged
forcing our warp capability to factor 2. Now less than 15 minutes from the
starbase, the Columbia returned fire in an undulating wave pattern that broke
off a piece of the Borg ship.. We sustained a minimal amount of damage in
the science department. A re-IPL of systems should be all that is necessary.
Now, docked at Starbase Everest, the crew is busy repairing damage, seeing to
injured crewmen and bracing for the next battle that is sure to come.
Tension runs high but everyone seems calm and determined to fulfil their
duties in an efficient manner.

[Personal note: I am proud to be a part of this group -- the excitement of
now knowing what is next, the fear of what might happen -- all brought into
perspective by the knowledge of what the Borg can do and the assurance this
ship is run by a seasoned crew with the best technology Starfleet has to
offer.]

fire , firing a salvo of photon torps and phaser fire at the borg...
We in engineering had our hands full about this time with shield power
dropping to 79 %
I transferred secondary power to the shields when we took a second hit ; This
time in the port nacelle , losing power completly through the nacelle...

the green light FLt. Rigel reported to the bridge we had partial power
through port nacelle again...
Flt. Rigel and I returned to engineering Immeaditly to monitor our damaged

After hearing a report that we had positive hits on the borg ship , part of
the borg ship had broken away I requested permission to beam aboard the
damaged sections to be analyzed , but was deniged due to the fear of
booby-trap....

>EnsDoc : So phasers aren't effective against them...

>Phar : True... Although, if a phaser is set with variable frequencies and
timed just right... you may be able to eliminate a single Borg unit. And, as
we know, when a single unit is destroyed an alarm is generated through the
entire collective.

>EnsDoc : So, what is our best course of defense?

>Phar :: Raising an eyebrow :: Do not engage them... :: tapping at the
console... a new hologram appears. This is a three dimensional image of a
bionic bacteriophage :: This is a weapon that is currently being researched
on Starbase Everest by Lieutenant (jg) Tessa McGill. The theory behind it is
that the assimilation of multiple units will infect the main neural core with
a series of logic viruses... rendering the Borg defenseless for a short
period of time. :: Pointing at the hologram :: This
particular unit will contain approximately 100K nanites, each programmed
with a different cybernetic malfunction program...

>LtjgMcKenzie : How will the bacteriophage be introduced... or assimilated
into the Borg? Won't they recognize it as an attack after the first attempt?

>Phar :: Sighing :: That is a very good question... I believe that the
initial infection will be our opportunity to strike... but, the details have
not been established in Ltjg McGill's reports. :: Tapping on the console...
deactivating the holographic programs :: I would recommend that the Drone
project being conducted by the Everest is worth reading.

>Phar :: Straightening up :: Now... for what we shall encounter here in the
medical department. There is a high degree of probability that if the Borg
transport to our ship... we will be confronted with a variety of phaser
related injuries. I am trusting that the crew will not act rashly...
But...the Borg utilize a plasma energy array that inflicts severe damage.
Expect neural and mycological destruction. :: Sighing :: I will be escorting
a visiting Commander this evening... LtCdr Solo from the USS
Excelsior. He will be coming to visit his sister-in-law, LtCdr Torres.
During my absence, Lieutenant (jg) McKenzie will be acting CMO.

>LtjgMcKenzie :: Looking at the chronometer :: Anything else Phar?

>Phar :: Smiling :: Yes... let's all be careful and try to ease tensions
among the crew. I don't want to find our sickbay filled with cases to be
treated. Dismissed

Lt. Commander Angel Phar
Chief Medical Officer
USS Columbia NCC - 101744
Duty Log: Stardate 9607.16

Our mission was to observe the Borg, determine their intentions and alert
Starbase Everest if there was a possible threat. We were operating under a
Yellow Alert when Commander Solo of the USS Excelsior came onboard. He was
here to visit his sister-in-law, Lt. Commander Dana Torres. Lieutenant (jg)
McKenzie was operating as the Chief Medical Officer during my absence. Upon
my return, I was disappointed to see that Lt. Commander Torres was engaging
the medical staff in a Terran display of juvenile
behavior. I was quite distressed by the scene and to my Vulcan
embarrassment... displayed my emotions. I become involved in the exchange
between Lt. Commander Torres and Commander Solo. It appeared that she was
uncertain of his identity. Upon Dana's request, Commander Solo contacted her
sister Lieutenant Commander Grace, and requested her presence in Sickbay. A
heated encounter ensued between the sisters. I ordered Lt. Commander Grace
out of the sickbay as the Columbia went to Red alert. I was
temporarily distracted by Commander Solo's questioning of my medical
abilities. I excused myself to deal with injuries that were reporting to
sickbay as a result of a direct attack by the Borg on our port nacelle.*(see
sickbay report: 9607.16) Although many of the injuries sustained were minor
in nature, we did receive five cases that were classified as Serious and
Unstable. We are currently docked at Starbase Everest. My apologies to my
medical department for allowing the sickbay to become a replica
of Tantalus V... the Federation's penal colony.
