Commence First Officer's Log
Commander Quint Kivo, First Officer, USS Aldrin
Stardate 9802.14

I arrived at Utopia Planatia yesterday. Everything has changed. It's like
everyone is on hyperdrive. They need to produce more ships faster, to keep up
with this war. The captain of the facility didn't even know I was coming in.
She didn't know I was XO of the Aldrin. She spoke with me for a minute. She
said she really needed someone like me back there. And she wasn't happy that
they had wasted 8 months working roundtheclock shifts to build a Galaxy
Class Starship that will be going on a deep space survey mission. I assured
her we'd make space dust of any Jem'Hadar we encountered on our mission. She
smiled, but was then was called off. I feel badly for her. She's been in
command of Utopia Planatia for almost 10 years. It's stressful.

Anyway, I went aboard the Aldrin this afternoon and unloaded my stuff. I'm
not allowed to stay overnight yet. Noone is. I'm not sure why. So I have to
transport, me and my cats, to a shuttle that'll take us to Earth Station
McKinley. There I'll meet Captain Santiago, and some of the other senior
officers. Those not here already will be arriving later tonite. In fact, my
shuttle will be leaving Utopia Planatia in about 25 minutes, I have to go.

I feel very confident about this new ship. I think it'll be the pride of the
fleet.

Lieutenant Junior Grade Tia Sloan Ryan
Chief of Science
USS Aldrin
Duty log: SD9802.15

Tia sighed with delight, turning her face into the shower's spray. Few
could appreciate the ice cold shower that she was treating herself to. She
turned and let the icey water pound her bare back. The tingling sensation of
coolness spread throughout her small body. Ahhh... this feels wonderful!
She shivered from sheer pleasure,
not coldness.
A few minutes later, wrapped in plush cotton towels, seated Indian style in
the middle of the large bed, Tia looked around her temporary quarters.
~~This is great. I only hope my quarters on the Aldrin are at least half as
good as this.~~ She reached over and picked up the iced tea, heavy on the
ice, from the beside table. She took a long sip, relishing in
the feel of the cool liquid sliding down her throat. Replacing the glass on
the table, Tia picked up a PADD. She activated it and began to speak.

"Commence duty log:
Lieutenant Junior Grade Tia Sloan Ryan
Duty Log SD9802.15
Location: Starbase Three"

"I am currently enroute to my new posting on the USS Aldrin. I arrived at
Starbase Three just two hours ago. The shuttle ride was less than
satisfactory. I am happy to state that I arrived unscathed, although the
trip itself was not entirely without danger to the passengers. I have been
posted to the Chief of Science position on the Aldrin. I must say that I was
surprised that Captain Killian was willing to accept a junior officer for
such a
position. I will do my best to make sure she won't regret her decision."

"End Duty Log"

Tia smiled in satisfaction. She flung herself backward, letting herself fall
into the soft bedding. Her small room and lumpy bunk back on Omega were
nothing compared to this. She closed her eyes slowly, happy to be where she
was and even more happy to be on her way to where she was headed. ~~USS
Aldrin... here I come...~~

Duty Log
Captain Killian J. S. Santiago
USS Aldrin

::open log::

I open this log, as I open the new chapter in my life, with a sense of
renewed faith in mankind. I use the term mankind to mean any intelligent
being with which the Federation has made contact. Some of those races are
not pleasant, and some are down right impossible to tolerate, but yet, they
each hold their place in the universe so I believe in them.
It is with a heavy heart that I must leave the USS Columbia, for it was my
home for so very long. So much had happened to me on that ship. I rose from
Ensign to Commander on that ship. It will always be dear to me.
On the flip side, I am so very excited and happy to have command of the USS
Aldrin. My network let me know of the new ship, they just forgot to let *me*
know I was in consideration as the captain. And now that I am the captain of
the USS Aldrin, I am pleased to say that I will do my best for this ship and
her crew.
I have already toured the ship and have found her to be much larger than the
Columbia but built with the needs of our missions in mind. In a way I am
glad that I don't have an Intrepid class ship...it would be too much like the
Columbia, and that wouldn't be right.
I was pleased to find so many of my friends from the Columbia have been
transfered to the Aldrin. I am also very pleased with the new crew I have.
After going over their personal files, I am honored to be working with such a
fine crew. My new Executive officer is one of the finest I have ever seen.
The more I learn about this crew and ship, the more eager I am for her
launch. I am positive that her maiden voyage will be something for the
history
books.

I was just begining to review the personnel files of the crew when the ships

Duty Log
Captain Killian J. S. Santiago
USS Aldrin

::Open log::

::Killian stepped from her shuttle onto the deck of the shuttle bay of the
Aldrin. Her eyes were black with anger, confusion, and happiness, but her
face was her normal calm mask. She nodded to her crew and smiled pleasantly
to them and only those with whom she was very close would recognize her
emotions. She needed to speak with Kivo and Selah....and now.::

=/\= Commander Kivo, Commander Nelson, Lt Selah, please meet me in my ready
room.

::She stopped in her quarters long enough to change into a clean uniform and
toss her carisak onto the couch before heading to the bridge and her ready
room. This couldn't wait for anything.::

::On the bridge, she stopped long enough to glance over the daily reports and
status reports. She nodded to the purser, signed them, and went to her ready
room.::

::She spared a smile to the three of them waiting for her and then stepped up
to the replicator and ordered pineapple juice, asking them if they wanted
anything. When they declined, she took her frosted glass to her desk and sat
down.::

::Reaching for her pencil, she looked at them both as they sat. Then she let
the calm mask fall and let them see her personal turmoil.::

Killian> Gentlemen, Courtney, we have a situation here that will call
for.....extreme measures.

Kivo> What is it, Sir?

Tarva> Killa.......I am... What is it? You are not.... ::Paling:: What did
you learn?

Courtney> ::Looking at Tarva and Killian, frowned:: Killian, what can we do?

Killian> ::Leaning back and taking a sip of her juice, she thought about how
she was going to tell them. Then she sat the glass down and leaned forward
again:: The Ferengi have a human hostage....and we have to get him back.

Kivo> ::Taking a hissing breath of anger:: Who?

Killian> ::looking at Tarva, her voice soft:: Julio Sylver.

Courtney> ::Whispered:: Oh no.

Kivo> ::Watched as Selah paled and sat back in his chair, and Courtney closed
her eyes and let a tear run down her cheek. Then turning back to Kilian::
And that is?

Killian> ::Looking at Quint:: Julio is Selah's and my grandson from another
time line. From what I have been able to learn from my sources, Julio and
his mother Toaja, were the only survivors of an attack on the world on which
they lived. Toaja didn't survive the crossing to this timeline.
::Killian's voice trailed off as she said that and a look of sorrow crossed
her eyes.::

Courtney> ::Getting up and coming to rest her hands on Killian's shoulders
murmuring something soft::

Kivo> Toaja...that is...your daughter?

Tarva> ::nodding:: Yes, Commander. How is...Julio?

Killian> He is alive....and not in too bad of shape. But he needs us, Tarva.
We have to go and get him. And that Daimon wants to sell him to us...or use
him for slave labor.

Tarva> ::Standing, his Bajoran features showing his rage:: Never! Even if I
have to mount a personal campaign against the whole Ferengi nation will I
ever let someone use MY grandson for a slave!!

Kivo> ::Standing and resting his hand on Selah's shoulder:: Easy there,
Selah. You don't have to do that. We will get him back...and without paying
that Daimon one sliver of latinum. Now....here is what we can do.....

::Killian planned the rescue mission with Quint, Courtney, and Tarva, and
when they were finished, they all felt better. When they left the ready room
and stepped out onto the bridge, the whole knew then and there that something
had happened. The command crew of the Aldrin had made a team that nothing
would ever shake. Then the crew knew...that this was one ship that wouldn't
go down without a fight.::

Tia Sloan Ryan, M.D.
Lieutenant Junior Grade
Cheif of Science - USS Aldrin
Duty Log SD9802.26

Tia was seated at her desk in her office, located just off the side of
the main laboratory suite. Her office had windows on three sides,
overlooking the largest three labs in the main suite. Tia frowned a little,
both her feet swinging freely under the chair, both clearing the floor by a
good two inches. ~Egad! T'was it a giant who be having this chair before
me?~ Behind her desk, the entire fourth wall of the office was covered with
computer displays and video feeds from all of the labs. From this office,
Tia would be able to oversee every single experiement, long or short term,
that was taking place on the Aldrin.
Tia was still a little shocked by the enormanity of it all. While
posted to the Saratoga, she'd gotten the feel of being on a starship, having
the best equipment that Starfleet could provide, and having access to almost
limitless supplies. Her fifteen months at the Omega VI outpost had managed
to wipe all of that away in almost the blink of an eye.
At Omega, Tia learned the true meaning of sparse and minimal. The
equipment was outdated, kept functioning only by the wizardry of the
engineering staff. It was also here that she relearned the definition of
cool. The constant heat of the Omegan sun baked the outpost with
temperatures ranging from around 200 degrees C. to over 1,000 degrees C.,
forcing the scientists there to wear environmental suits when on the planet's
surface and requiring
the extensive use of coolants to keep personnel as well as equipment
functioning adequately. The planet did have an abundant supply of ground
water, but it was evaporating off the planet's surface as fast as it flowed
from the ground. Even piped directly from the depths of the planet straight
into the facilities, the water never reached temperatures much below 60
degrees C. It was too expensive and took much too much coolant to cool
everything.
The environmental systems placed more importance on keeping the scientists
stationed there alive, than giving them cold water to drink. The water on
Omega came in three styles; hot, about 60-80 degrees C.,drinkable, much like
a hot toddie drink; searing, about 80-150 degrees, adequate for bathing, a
tad hot for drinking; and blazing, 150-250 degrees, too hot for humanoid use,
it was piped directly onto
outside equipment to help bring down their temperatures. Space was limited
on the outpost as well, the smaller the buildings, the easier it was to cool
them. Everything about Omega was hot, small, cramped and old.
Tia twirled in her chair giggling madly like a kid on rollercoaster.
~Not here!~ She stopped abruptly, facing wall of video monitors. She sprang
out of her chair and almost jumped for joy, as she bounded over to the
replicator in her office. "Iced tea, heavy lemon, no sugar, extra ice." She
grinned. "Lots of ice, make it a double."
Returning to her desk with an ice laden tea, Tia decided it was time to
hunker down and get to work. Now that the computer was functioning properly
again, all the experiements were back online. Only two had failed completely
during the computer's hiatus, fortunately neither were essential and as such,
Tia cancelled them completely. ~No sense in startin' those a'gain~ Sipping
on her deliciously cold iced tea, she smiled and hummed quietly as she began
the task of drawing up next week's duty rosters, going over experiment
results, both final and ongoing, and just generally plow her way through the
many tasks she found before herself.
"Computer open a duty log."

Computer> Sloan, Tia Ryan, Liuetenant Junior Grade, USS Aldrin, duty log file

Tia blinked a few times, the last flash of the Q still projecting several
bright spots of light that floated and swam in her field of vision. She
shook her head a little to clear it, turning back to the Science station's
console. Her fingers busily tapped on the console, the results still
crushingly clear: the Aldrin had been thrown tens of thousands of light years
away from their last position.
"Permission to take the console, sir!"
Tia looked up at the sound of Lieutenant Commander Robert Issac's snappy
retort. She fought the urge to roll her eyes in disgust. After all the man
was a senior officer and at least ten years her senior, so why on Earth did
he insist on such knit picky details. She turned and smiled warmly at him.
"The console is yours to command, sir." She saluted him quickly, hoping the
rest of the bridge crew wasn't watching this pitiful display. Glad that
the her bridge watch was over, Tia eased out of the chair and relinguished
the station to Issac.
A couple of short walks and turbo lift ride later, Tia entered her office.
She took a quick visual scan of the video montors on the wall behind her
desk, but was much too distracted to really notice that the fungus in Lab 10
had overgrown it's petri dish by about ten fold and was creeping along the
floor toward the foot of the sleeping lab officer or that the visual alarm in
lab 6 was blinking a steady stream of yellow blips. She plopped into her
chair, keying her console, opening a duty log.

"I had the first bridge watch today. While the away team was engaged in
retrievin' Julio, a strange energy source appeared on the outer edge of the
long range sensors. I was very frustrated that I was unable to determine the
energy's type or source. I didn't have to wait long however." Tia let out a
heavy sigh and rolled her eyes upward. "Twas a Q being, comin' to toy with
the Aldrin and 'er crew. I was fortunate in that I wasn't singled out by
the Q like some of me fellow bridge officers were."

Tia swiveled in her chair, catching sight of the lab officer in ten waking
up to find his boot covered with fungus and letting loose with a few choice
cuss words.
Tia chuckled, reached over and closed her log. She opened a comm channel to
ten. "Having a wee bit o' trouble are we?" She fought to keep a straight
face as the embarassed office jumped to his feet and whirled to face the
monitor; promptly slipping on the slick fungus. His foot went out from under
him; his body now severely out of balance fell clumsily to the floor. He
looked up redfaced, as he now sat in a pile of mucky, slimely freshly grown
fungus.
"Problem?" His voice cracked like that of a thirteen-year-old's. "Nope...
nope.. no problem here." He looked around him forlornly. "Ah... If
anything, I'd say the experiement was a smashing success, boss." He scooped
up some fungus with his middle and index fingers of his right hand and held
it up to the monitor for her to see. "We've got more of this fungus than we
thought we'd have!"
Tia smiled and nodded. "Okay then, Ensign... carry on." She clicked off
the comm channel and promptly cracked up. For the moment, the thought of Q
and how he'd flung the Aldrin into oblivion was gone.

The Aldrin came in contact today with a Cardassian ship. Twas most
perplexing for both captain and crew because the Cardassians did not regard
us as a threat to themselves at first. Appar'ntly the length of time the
ship has been without long range communications predates the war. These
Cardassians were completely unaware of the Cardassian-Dominion alliance and
the ensuein' war.
Once debriefed on current affairs of state, the Cardassians made their
decision to side with Cardassia quite clear by engagin' the Aldrin. Twas a
poor decision on their part. The Aldrin is currently towin' the beaten

We were towing the cardassian ship to one of those base places and I and a
few others were asked to go down and take control of the cardassian ship. We
reported to the weapons locker and then to transporter room one. Upon
arriving at the Cardassian ship into two groups, I went with Liutenant
commander Nelson and headed for the bridge. We arrived at the bridge without
running into any of the ship's crew. On the bridge were 2 cardassians who we
subdued
without any shooting or anything. The other group had reached engineering and
were working on the systems. Courtny asked me to take the two cardassians to
the brig and to round up as many as I could. I got the two cardassians into
the brig with no problem and went looking for others and found one. He was
just sitting there, noticed me and did nothing. I became suspicious and I
heard something moving behind me. I dropped to the floor and felt a
disruptor beam fly by my head. I spun and shot and killed that cardassian
that shot at me, turnd to defend myself from the other and found his friend
had accidently shot him. I took those two to the brig and dropped them off
and heard Commander Kivo and announce a Jem'Hadar ship in the area. I ran
back to the bridge and tested the systems. The team in Egineering tried to
get the engines to high capasity. Once we had the systems workin we followed
the
Aldrin who had just warped away deep into Federation space.

As the ships counselor I must say that this crew is the most jovial that I
have ever served with. They are very well adjusted and work well together.
They also enjoy time together off duty. I have yet to come across one crew
member who was disatisfied with their post, their department chief or the
ships captain.
The Esprit de Corps is high and relationships are not strained. This is
certainly a credit to the senior officers on board and the way the deal with
ship board problems. It is my personal opinion that this is by far one of the
finest crews that the Federation has.

Lieutenant Tia Sloan Ryan
Chief of Science
USS Aldrin
Duty Log/Story
SD 9803.30

Tia read the information on the PADD that Captain Killian had just
handed her. She blinked few times, trying to make sure she was really seeing
what she'd just read. She was to scan for a unique signature, that of a
Romulan ship. Romulan! Tia's stomach turned over. Just the mere mention of
that name brought all the old memories and pain back, like the waves of the
North Sea crashing against
Ireland's rocky shoreline. She swallowed hard and tossed her head, giving
Killian a nod. "Understood, Captain."
It was easier to block the pain on duty, and the passage of time was
softening its edge as well. Sean's ship had been attacked and all the crew
of the USS Hudson were killed some three plus years ago. Tia pushed the
rising memories down. The Romulans crossed the neutral zone in search of a
ship, any ship, to test their new weapon on. Her
fingers danced over the console as she entered in the signature to search
for. A new neural-toxic weapon designed to incapacitate the crew of a large
ship quickly, leaving the ship intact. Tia finished programming the long
range scanners and she sat back in her chair. Sean and the several hundred
of his maties aboard the Hudson died that day. She
frowned at the thought of having to see Romulans up close and personal.
Tia managed to put forth a good front, disguising her loathing and
hatred for Romulans. Sean's dying words were forever imprinted on Tia's
mind. The shift proceeded rather routinely for quite some time, the Aldrin
apparently headed for a rendevous of some sort. With his dying breath, Sean
professed his love for his family and his career, albeit short, in
Starfleet. She kept a close eye on the scans. The words of Captain Pavlor
(of the USS Virginia) began echoeing in Tia's mind. Her eyes narrowed as she
squinted at the display. 'Nearly four hundred people dead in just three
hours!' She definately didn't want to miss the opportunity to be the first
bridge officer to inform the captain that a Romulan ship was detected.
'Attempts were made to transport over medical supplies - to even put the crew
into statsis, but to no avail.' She grinned at the thought of Captain
Killian ordering the Aldrin to fire at and hopefully destroy a Romulan ship.
'With his dying breath, Captain Fischer begged me not to
board the ship - in fact to destroy the Hudson now - to mercifully spare them
a slow and lingering death.' Inwardly, this gave Tia a sickly sense of great
pleasure.
"Captain..." Tia's voice cracked; she cleared her throat quickly. "I
have that signal on long range scanners." 'Faced with a difficult decision,
I towed the Hudson back to Centai V - a privately owned space port, the near
our position.' She turned slightly in her seat and looked at Captain
Killian,
hopeful that an order to go to red alert would be forth coming. None was.
Somewhat perplexed, she turned her attention back to her console and
displays. 'The last to die was the Communications Officer, Lieutenant
Commander Sean Bennett Ryan, whose last wish was to convey a message to his
family in Ireland.' Sure enough, the Aldrin was headed
straight for the Romulan ship.
Undaunted and apparently unconcerned that the Aldrin was appoaching a
Romulan ship, Captain Killian gave the order to hail the ship. Tia bit at
the inside of her lower lip, her hands in her lap clenched into tight fists.
There was no denying it, the Aldrin was going to communicate with a Romulan
ship, as if there were no war, no hostilities, no nothing between Romulus and
the Federation.
Sean's words, as recorded by the USS Virginia and restated in Captain
Pavlor's log sounded in Tia' mind, just as clear to her now, as they had been
when she first heard the tape some odd three years ago...

Speaking in fluent Vulcan, he said, “See, Mother?
I never forgot my languages.”
Continuing in Ancient Mandarin, “Patrick, Will
and Nicky: take care of Tia for me.” and then in Klingon,
“Father: I have no regrets; Starfleet is the
only place I ever wanted to be.”
Finishing in English, with his thick Irish accent,
“Me love goes to ye all.
Saints protect ye now and always.”

Tia felt the all too familiar sting of rising tears. Blinking them away,
she took a quick, yet deep, breath and tossed her head to clear her thoughts.
The Aldrin might have had business with this Romulan ship, but that didn't
mean she had to like it. It would be cold day in hell before Tia Sloan Ryan
liked a Romulan.

The Aldrin had proceeded to its rendevous with the Romulan warbird.
Apparently it was to be our escort to our destination in Romulan space. My
job during this part of the mission was to thoroughly scan the surrounding
space we were traveling through and gather as much information as possible.
It is extremely rare that a starship would be allowed passage into or through
Romulan space. This was indeed a good opportunity to learn more about he
Romulans. A cloaking device was transported over to the ship. After some
time struggling with it's installation, engineering was able to get the
device up and running. A radiation leak was discovered almost immediately
after the cloaking device was engaged. I was able to isolate the source of
the leak as coming from the cloaking device itself. My only hope right now
is the engineers that were exposed to the highest levels of radiation will be
treated successfully and suffer no lasting ill effects.

Tia's heart was pounding so hard she was afraid some one might hear it
thumping against her ribs. She slipped into an empty chair and glanced
around the room quickly. Her face reddened noticeably when she saw Commander
Kivo's expression. He had indeed noticed her tardy entrance into the
officer's meeting. She swallowed hard and looked away, turning her attention
to Captain Killian.
~~Oh, me lordie, lords!~~ Inwardly Tia rolled her eyes in disgust, as a
slightly sick feeling of deja vue stole over her. It was the Sara all over
again. At least this time Mancuso was busy with the cloaking device and
wasn't in the meeting to flash her that knowing, sly smile of his. She had
been late for her first officer's meeting on the Saratoga, completely
embarassed and knocked off guard by Captain Kinsey's summons to her in sick
bay.
Likewise, Captain Killian's tap summoning her to this meeting threw Tia for a
loop. ~~Why tis it that I'm always missin' the announcement of these
meetin's?~~
Tia sighed heavily, then shook her head a bit to clear her thoughts.
The Aldrin was approaching their destination. Two away teams were being
formed. She was a member of team one, which was comprised of Court, Selah,
Mancuso and herself. She listened intently, trying to take it all in. One
thousand people!! Gracious! Just how were they to accomplish the successful
release of that many prisoners, while usurping the security staff of
approxiamately two hundred? Killian dismissed the officers from the meeting.
Everyone left the room, each headed toward their appointed spot for this
mission.
Tia made her way to Lounge Three. Lieutenant Commander Court and First
Lieutenant Selah were already there when she entered the room. She seated
herself and looked around. Shortly there after, Lieutenant Commander Mancuso
joined them. Court began to outline their team's part of the mission. Tia
looked back and forth between her three team members. She hoped one of them
had a good idea for the rescue because she sure didn't have one. Tia
nodded at Court as she lead the meeting. Her team was to affect the release
of the prisoners, hopefully without bloodshed. It was going to be no small
task.
Tia shivered just a little. ~~Romulans! Uck!~~ Just thinking about
Romulans in general made her angry and stirred up all the old painful
memories. Now this - actually beaming down to a planet full of them - made
her want to toss her lunch on the spot. Outside, Tia smiled and nodded,
making the perfect impression of a person paying close attention to the
matters at hand. Inside, she was a boiling caulderon of hate and fear.

Tia frowned in disgust at the display, then rubbed her forehead with the
fingers of her right hand. Her forehead was slick with sweat and she had the
beginnings of an Excederin Headache Number Five. She sighed heavily, shifted
herself in her chair, then bent over the console again, determined to figure
out what it was that the sensors were picking up from inside the anomaly.
It was most definately verteron particles that the Aldrin was picking
up. That much Tia already knew. She inwardly laughed at the irony of it.
She knew what the particles were, but had no clue why they were where they
were. It made no sense at all. Verteron was definately not a naturally
occuring item in this type of anomaly. Yet, approxiamately two hundred
kilometers just inside Dominion space a source was emitting a stream of
verteron
particles.
Tia tapped a few buttons on her console, making several overhead display
screens light up with schematics of several different types of ships. The
power signature was minimal, but the object was fairly large. Romulan,
Klingnon, Dominion, Andorian, Vulcan, Federation, Ferengi... she sighed
heavily, wondering if she was grasping at straws here. She sneaked a peek at
Commander Kivo, who was rather busy attending to ship's business at the
moment,
and she wondered just how long she had until he wanted a definitive answer.
Lieutenant Ryan's head snapped up at the sound of a display console's
monotone bleeping. The schematic of a Dominion Battlecruiser was displayed
on her left screen with a prompt in bright green lettering blinking smack dab
in the middle of the drawing. Tia's mouth went dry instantly. It was a one
hundred percent match. Making a quick double check, Tia's fingers danced
lightly over her console. On her right display screen a computer
simulation showed the flow of the verteron particles as they streamed from
their source. She swallowed, her mouth feeling as if it were stuffed with
dry cotton.
Ryan did another sensor sweep to make tripoly sure. She was sure
alright. She cleared her dry throat, preparing to report to Kivo. A
Dominion Battlecruiser with a leaky cloaking device was just inside Dominion
space. No other ship's signatures are around. Seemed like information the
acting captain ought like to know.
Swiveling in her chair, she addressed him. "Commander Kivo..."

This ship is awesome. well for me being on a Starship is just an
incredible experience as it is all new to me, its not that i don't know
anything about ship's operations but its not the same thing going to a
holodeck or a simulator than being on the real thing. the sensors are extra
sensitive and they are just ready to accept and detect what ever i want, its
just exhilarating to be in This ship. I think it was my best decision to
change The
Academy for serving on a ship. Granted I have the worst timing I can
imagine. Going out to space for the first time during war status but hell
cadets are going out there every month ready to fight why could I not do my
part? Its not like I have never been to war before. Down on the trenches of
Vendikar I got a good taste of what war really is. And I will never forget
that lesson. Never.

An Ensign from the Security Detail showed me to the quarters Assigned to
me on the Ship. Deck 19 section 1955-A, the door had a number, 19551.
Living on the lower decks, in the stardrive to be exact was both good and
bad. Good because on deck 15 was my work station in the science labs.. but
bad because living on the stardrive section was like living in the old
industrial area in Eminiar... it was a work area... lots of noise, hustle
and
bustle.

I was content with the living area i was given, for an Ensign it was a
nice and spacious room, and no roomate! I had heard horror stories about
roomates from hell from the older Federation ship that still had ensigns
berthing 2 to a room because of the lack of adequate living quarters for
individuals. Thank the Lords that those Olden Federation Starships were being
decomissioned and the new Galaxy, Nebula and Sovereing Class ships were
being
Commisioned with lots and lots of room for everyone aboard to have his or her
room.

I have to make this room mine. i'll get some stuff to make it nicer.

Uss Aldrin
Science Department
Ensign Clarissa A. Pavillon
SD-9805.18

Today I reported for duty for the first time on board the USS Aldrin.
My Department, CO Lt. Ryan instructed me to report to the main science lab
and monitor the process from the main console there. The ship was
investigating a spatial anomaly just inside of Dominion held territory.

Upon initial investigation the verteron particle stream emanating from
the anomaly seemed like the leak of a faulty cloaking device but after
bringing the lateral sensor array online the scanners found an asynchronous
power wave signal that did not match any type of cloaking device that I know
of it looked more like a reactor at almost critical mass. I notified my
findings to Lt. Ryan and Cmdr.Kivo. Lt. Ryan concurred with me on my
findings,
Cmdr. Kivo asked me what I thought about this and I told him that for me it
was a trap, that to maintain a reactor at critical mass there had to be
somebody fine tuning the magnetic constrictors to balance the reaction. This
was confirmed when the scanning probe was beamed to the "cloaked" ship. The
scanners on the probe unbalanced the matter stream causing the ship to
explode and uncloaking the other 34 JH ships in the sector.

This is my report. End Duty Log.

OPEN DUTY LOGS

Tonight I was stationed on the bridge, and all hell started to break
loose...I was so weak I could hardly stand. A ship approached and started to
fire, our sheilds registered as opperational..but they were not stopping the
weapons fire...it went right through them. Court needed help in the sickbay,
I offered my assistance, and was went to help. While in the TL, Kivo called a
medical emergency on the bridge. I stopped the TL, and headed back to the
bridge. Little did i know that it was the Captain who had gone down. I
grabbed her, ran into the TL, and headed for sickbay. When i got there, Court
immediatly came to assist the Captain. I was assigned to help the others. I
quickly began scanning patient after patient, and administering hypos as
needed. I relieved most of the patients to deck 12..the only safe place to be
on the Aldrin right now. And from across the room I watched the Captain's
condition rapidly change.... for the worse. She was coughing up lots of
dust...and kept saying she had to get back to the bridge. Thankfully Kivo
managed to keep things from getting worse. The fighters were sent out to
destroy the ships that had attacked us...and they did a great job too...we're
still alive!!! I've released the majority of the patients to deck 12. And i'm
continuing to work...the sheer numbers of people in here..it will take time
to
help them all. Thankfully most of the serious cases have been
neutralized....except for the Captain.

OPEN DUTY LOGS

I'm still stuck on the station and being chased by a horde of bugs.
Thankfully Vaebn was with me and I was able to get enough cover fire to
create a small explosive device. I managed to knock out a large quantity of
bugs. We proceeded to the promenade and found it swarming with bugs. We
entered environmental controls and Vaebn set the temp. to below freezing
while I watched his back. As we left I ran into Chaos(literally). After
composing myself from
getting knocked down I heard Chanrda call for help. I ran to her but, she had
already been bitten by the bugs. Chaos picked her up and headed for the
transporter. I just entered the transporter room when I heard someone call my
name. I immediatly knew who it was, and I had to get to him. I ran out of the
transporter room and headed into the direction of the call. I found Dire
lying in the corridor, I helped him up and started to walk back to the
transporter. Chaos had come after me...he picked both of us up and began to
run...with bugs hot on his heels. We came to a large hole and Chaos threw us
over it..just as we landed on the other side he was engulfed in bugs and
carried away. I was going to go after him..but he ordered us to leave. I
reluctantly obeyed..I grabbed Marcus and headed for the transporter. Along
the way I got a com from Vaebn..asking me to locate his position..he wasn't
too
far away..battling a horde of bugs. He too told us to get out..I finally
listened. I activated our com badges and beamed out. We arrived on the
Aldrin...I headed for the bridge through a jefferies tube. By the time i
found my way to the bridge, Chaos was safely returned and the bugs
gone..except for the queen..who managed to get into an escape pod. I found a
bug...tooth thing in my arm...I pulled it out...and fainted. END DUTY LOG

It was the end of the day, Aldrin time, and Thelev had just finished
scrapping all the dried bug goo off the walls in his quarters, as well as
replacing all the busted wall panels. He set the last bit of damaged or
shredded furniture/bug/carpeting in the replicator for energy recycling. Now
on to unpacking. He opened his bag and grabbed the biggest things first
including his large orbital holo of Andor and a few of its moons. Thelev
always hung it next to the holo of his family including his parents, five
brothers, and four sisters. His parents lived back on Andor, while some of
his siblings took resident on several of it's moons. Two lived on earth, one
at the academy and the other serving as a Federation diplomats intern. He
put all his clothing into the drawers in the dresser by his bed and then
opened another case he brought with him. It contained all his hand weapons
that he had collected through the years, some Andorian, some Klingon, one was
Romulan and an antique if the Ferengi he bought it from could be trusted.
Thelev set them aside and would hang them up later. He finished unpacking
all the essentials and decided to finish his duty log he started on the
shuttle trip.

"Computer, open duty log, supplemental. After my shuttle arrived at de
Aldrin, and my hails vent unanswered. I docked and soon discoveerd dat de
ship had been invaded by swarms of insectoid creetures. As soon as I got to

disable de creetures. Ve discovered dat dey process nitrogen insted of

reporting
our discovery, the crew began lowering de nitrogen levels in de
enviro-settings and adding a small amount of neurozine gas to de air. It had
an effect on some of de crew but most remained conscious trough de

Duty Log SD 9806.29

"After makin' me way to the science labs, I met up thar with me new officer,
Ensign Thelev. The bugs that were invading were not far behind me and soon
Thelev and I were defendin' the lab, tryin' our hardest to keep the pesky
critters out. We managed to hold them off long enough to get a single one of
them under the glass and take a close look at it. It's thorax was
overdeveloped. We checked a few more of the dead critters that littered the
floor. All of their thorax's were overdeveloped. They were gainin' their
strength from the nitrogen rich air found both in the ship and on the
station. Lieutenant Commander Terlak was on about me about everythin' it
seemed. He was rather pleased when Thelev and I deduced that flooding the
ship and station with a nitrous oxide compound should have no harmful effects
on the people, yet would at the same time be fatal to the bugs. The compound
in
its gaseous state is known by the slang term 'laughing gas.' Just as the lab
began filling with the gas, the bugs overran Thelev and I. We headed for the
jeffries tubes. I be laughin' so hard, I could barely climb. In fact, I
took a tumble and hit the bottom of the tube, landin' squarely on me butt.
Tis not the impression I be wishin' to make on me newest officer, but due to
the effects of the gas all I could do was sit there and howl in
laughter, like a drunk on St. Paddy's Day, that drunk the barrel dry in
record time. As if that tweren't bad enough, Terlak was still havin' fits
and screamin' for me over me comm badge. I made me way to the bridge. I
about lost me lunch in the turbolift, where I be ankle deep in dead bugs.
The crisis was waning 'bout the time I got to the bridge. The bugs were
already dead or dying. There was nothin' left to do but clean up. Goodness
what a
mess. Thelev was most helpful in getting the science labs cleaned up. After
all of that, I have have had me fill of bugs for a life time!"

::Standing, Killian engaged a portable site to site transporter she kept in
her office for such meetings that couldn't be logged by the crew. Within a
moment, she was standing in Noshino's office::

Noshino> ::Looking up:: You are early, Sylver. Sit.

::Killian sat and looked at the man who was her boss. His black hair had
fine silver streaks running through it, giving him an air of distinction.
His deep black eyes hadn't lost the fire of his Hispanic and Japanese
ancestry. He had his computer screen turned so she couldn't see what he had
on it. In the silence, two men entered and administered the testing that
would prove her identity as well as confirming that she wasn't a Founder.
When the
testing was done and the men left, Noshino seemed to relax::

Noshino> Killian, there are a few things we need to discuss. And, as usual,
they are confidential.

Killian> ::Nodding:: I understand that, Enrique. What it is?

Noshino> It's about your current command. We feel that maybe it was a
mistake. Maybe you should be pulled and put back on undercover.

Killian> Undercover, or behind a desk. Look, Enrique, you know the only
reason I am not sitting behind that desk and you are not sitting in this
chair is because I refused to come out of field work and you didn't. So cut
to the chase and don't give me this bull about making a mistake.

Noshino> ::Nodding:: Very well, Killian, since the kid gloves are off. I
have people watching your entire crew. The reports about your ship and crew
are suspect and we feel that is your fault. That maybe another captain, one
that isn't SI would do a better job in making your
crew...more.....acceptable.

Killian> ::Still not showing emotion, but her clipped tones showing her
anger:: I don't agree. My crew is not suspect, they are exceptional. And if
you take me from the Aldrin, my next post will be behind that desk and you
can find yourself a new job. ::Standing:: Now, if you will excuse me,
Enrique, I have my interview with Admiral Kurimunko.

Noshino> ::Sighing and nodding, his face showing his emotions like an open
window. For a moment he wished he had Killian's gift of emotionlessness,
then he thought about what she had given up for that and was glad he had
emotions.:: Killian...watch you back.

Killian> I always do, Enrique.

::Killian beamed back to the Aldrin, to wait for Kurimunko's call.::

::In Enrique Noshino's office, the story wasn't so calm. More people were
sent to watch Killian's crew and to speak to some of them if possible. The
message went out: "The USS Aldrin's crew is to be kept under surveillance and
if Killian contacted any of them...they were to be taken into custody for
questioning by SI." Noshino's sat back and shook his head. He knew he was
taking on too much when he was approached to do this to Killian. She
wasn't the best for nothing and he had never achieved her standings in field
work. He only hoped he and his staff would come out of this alive. Taking
some of the medication given him by his doctor, he hoped to settle down his
stomach so he could go home to his wife and family without the nervous
tension. Maybe when this was done, he would retire and let someone else try
to control Killian and the few others who were like her.::

Noshino> Kurimunko, this is Noshino, this is going to be more difficult than
was first envisioned. Beware, Killian is alert to something and you can bet
her crew is as well. Watch you back.

Kurimunko> Thank you, Noshino, I will. Let's just hope that before they
catch us, we can finish this.

I waaas called into the Admiral's office for my debriefing today. All went
well even though I could sense the deception that he tried to conceal with
tact, I pretended not to be aware of it. The questions were not real invasive
I answered them with direct, honest replies. The Federation obviously has
plans for the USS Aldrin. It will be interesting to see where this road we
now travel
will lead us.

Duty Log
Killian J. S. Santiago
Captain
USS Aldrin

::Open Log::

::When the summons from Kurimunko came, Killian was ready. Things were
already in place. She hadn't contacted her crew, knowing they were being
watched, but with a few discrete inquires, she found out who was watching
who. She couldn't help but laugh when she found out it was Jes who was
tailing Chaos. Of all the people that Enrique could have used with her
CSec/CTac, he had picked the only one that Chaos would never suspect. Of
course, when she
learned that Jr. was tailing Tarva, she almost lost her cool again...of all
the apes..... Then of course there was Sterling. She remembered when he was
a cadet in SI training. Now he was some suave playboy sent to spy on
Admiral's wives. Oh well. She guess Enrique was just doing his job, and
now, it was her turn to do hers.::

::Stepping into the Admiral's office, she was calm and her face
expressionless. She nodded to the semi-surprised secretary, held still for
the standard blood test, then entered the office. Kivo had left just a few
minutes before her, but she hadn't met him in the corridor.::

::Killian closed the door before Kurimunko could say anything. Not sitting,
she stood, leaning forward on his desk, and stared into his eyes, silent and
unreadable.::

Kurimunko> ::Matching her hot gaze for a moment before dropping his eyes. At
the sound of Killian's scoff, he shrugged:: We had to know.

Killian> Not that way, you didn't. Now call your dogs off and get down to
it. ::Still not sitting, still not giving him one inch. She knew the rules,
he had backed down first, she was in control. If she gave up that control,
the ball was his and she could only react, she needed to act.:: I want my
ship back, in one piece with no more damage. I am going to have my people
rip it all up and repair it if I find so much as a single device, and you
know what I am talking about. If you have done to my crew, what you did to
me, then your people will repair the damage BEFORE my people see it. If so
much as one stray hair off of their hairbrushes is missing or out of place, I
will visit you with more grief than you know what to do with. Then I
want....

Kurimunko> ::Standing and meeting her eyes again, his own becoming angered::
Just who do you think you are, CAPTAIN?!?!?!

Killian> ::Still not showing emotion in her voice:: The best you have,
Kurimunko, and more than your equal, as you well know. Now you started this,
I am going to finish it. Sit down, shut up, and do what you are told like a
good boy.

Kurimunko> I don't have to take this from you, you snot-nosed brat!!! You
are NOT the best, you are just a second rate captain with a third-rate crew,
on a traveling piece of space flotsam that no one in their right mind would
want to travel in!!! Now before I have you kicked down to cadet, sit down,
and answer a few questions!!!

Killian> ::Smiling faintly, in derision at Kurimunko, she sat. They both
knew she won. They both knew that he couldn't do a thing to her. And he
wasn't in control, she was.::

Kurimunko> Now, then, Captain, concerning your allowance to have exotic pets
on your ship.....

Killian> I have new pets, now, Sir. And their homes are being loaded even as
we speak. If these turn up dead, then I will have you and your team hauled
in front of a board for murder.

Kurimunko> ::Pausing, not quite sure what to do now. Killing her pets was
supposed to have thrown her off balance. Her dossier had stated that she was
an animal lover.:: I am sorry for your loss, Captain.

Killian> ::Not saying anything, again, knowing she had the upper hand.
Enrique was a fool to let this clown deal with her. He should have handled
this himself.::

Kurimunko> ::Clearing his throat:: Now then, is it wise to be dating your
Counselor?

Killian> Is it wise for you to have married your personal secretary?

Kurimunko> ::His face flushing, not continuing on that avenue.:: Do you think
it is wise to have Romulans on your ship?

Killian> Do you think it is wise to have Cardassian on your staff?

Kurimunko> ::Half-standing, then sitting back down. He wanted to know how
she knew so much about him, he had forgotten her "other" job.:: Do you think
it is wise to entrust so much to your Executive Officer?

Killian> Do you think it is wise to let your underage, untrained son, make
decisions on what ship should go where?

Kurimunko> ::Standing, his face purple:: Get out!! Just get out!!!!

::A door opened and Enrique walked in. His face impassive as he looked and
the enraged Kurimunko and the calm Killian. He sighed and shook his head::
How did you know, Killian?

Killian> You should have known me better than that, Rick. Gods, what fools
you were...to think that I would lose my edge just because I am no longer
going behind enemy lines every other month. But killing the
animals...really, Rick, that was just going too far. And your people didn't
do a very good job making it look like an accident. Fumigating would have
been a better way. You need to beef up your training.

Enrique> Killian, we need you and your ship to do a job for us...and we had
to know if you were up to the task. After the bugs....we weren't sure.

Killian> And now?

Kurimunko> You aren't seriously going to go through with this, Enrique, are
you?

Enrique> Paul, she is the best. She knew about you, didn't she? And there
are a million ways she could get me, as well. I did warn you.

Kurimunko> ::Sighing:: Alright. Do it your way, Enrique, this is your baby.

Enrique> ::Nodding:: Killian, we need you to...

Killian> Spearhead the vanguard to regain our lost systems.

::Both men stopped and looked at her. Kurimunko glared, but didn't say
anything, Enrique merely nodded.::

Killian> As soon as you call off your dogs and let my people enjoy their
leave, I will agree. But as long as my people don't get the full three
days....there is no deal.

Enrique> By night, our people will be gone. Although...Sterling has
expressed the desire to stay with Ryan for the remainder of her leave...if
she'll let him. He is impressed with her....tenaciousness.

Killian> That is up to Tia. Then....first thing in the morning, I will
agree.

Enrique> Killian, just so you know...your crew is the best we have out there.
You are doing a fine job with this assignment. We will expect great things
from you.

Killian> ::Standing and walking to the door. Turning and looking at them,
her hand on the handle:: Gentlemen, expect nothing less. I demand excellence
from my crew, and I get it. ::Stepping out and closing the door behind her,
Killian allowed herself a slight smile, she had won this battle, and
now...she had another to face.::

OPEN DUTY LOGS

After returning from shoreleave we immediatly began to search the ship from
top to bottom...looking for anything out of order. Ensign Kartan located a
slimy green device which was later found out to be a monitoring device. We
were ordered to remove all the devices from the ship. After searching through
the first deck..I scanned one of the crewmen's quarters...just to check...and
I located a device inside their quarters. After informing Chaos, I
entered all the quarters in the entire deck(except the Captain's) and I
located and removed all the devices. I proceeded through the entire ship deck
by deck removing all the devices. After they were all removed, and lying in
the corridors..I began to retrieve the devices. I took all the devices to the
Security office, and a huge pile soon formed on the floor near Chaos' desk.
After bringing in all the monitoring devices I was finally off duty at
0200...but I decided to run some more scans before going to sleep. I took one
of the devices into the science lab and ran numerous scans on it to determine
it's full purpose. I took it apart and examined all the components...from my
studies the devices were planted to monitor the crew while at work and off
duty, they were listening devices...as well as monitoring cameras...each one
relayed the information to the other so the cameras could keep watch
on any crew member as they walked through the ship..and then monitor them
while they were in their quarters. I recorded all my findings on a padd and
put it on Chaos' desk for reviewing in the morning. END DUTY LOGS

"Computer open Duty log for 9807.22... Begin.
After our shore leave on Earth, myself and LtCmdr Terlak were ordered to
search the ship for anything strange and unusual. We found several hundred
unusuals... Monitering devices. The Captain was informed and we were ordered
to remove them. which we have and are most likely going to be sent back to
Star Fleet in a scrape pile. The devices were set to internally degrade upon
detection, so it is not possible to find out to where the signal is being
sent to at this time. I decided to check the computers for anything
suspiciuos as well. I located several sub-routines that when activated would
allow someone else to enter a couple of codes in the computer system that
would give access to command functions of the ship. I immediatly alerted the
captain to this and currently rewriting the codes so that as soon as they are
entered the holodeck will begin a starship simulation to show what the codes
programing will do. This will fool the computer into thinking that it is
actually happening to the Aldrin. At the same time we will be alerted to the
activity and send false information to the sender so we can trace the signal
and find out what is actually going on."

Computer end log.

I ended shore leave today by rushing my kids to Ontario Interstellar
Spaceport, barely catching a flight to Spacedock, the only reason why we took
a Trans Federation Transport is because I had too many children and too much
luggage going with me. I ran into Courtney at OIS and we were coincidentally
on the same flight together. I dropped the kids off at Spacedock, since this
seems like a dangerous mission, and I also took valuables from my
Quarters, so that they are not damaged or destroyed. I went over the ship and
its workings, and found everything to be in top condition.

OPEN DUTY LOG
Earlier today, I set out to board the Romulan ship I was taking
possesion of for the time being, until the attack was over. Well...tonite, I
ended up on the smelliest ship on the fleet with over 100 angry Romulans who
would love to torture me in the familiar Romulan way of, well...torturing
people. What happened was, since our ship was positioned on the far right of
the fleet, we became an easy target, many Jem-Hadar took it upon themselves
to damage us beyond repair, and then board our ship, for supplies or just
plain scrap metal (or even prisioners), I do not know, all I know is, the
certain Romulan ship mentioned above is currently a bajillion fragments of
debris floating on the Federation and Dominion border. The most important
thing is, most of the crew on board survived, 112 were beamed on Chaos's
Klingon ship, and 413 were beamed onto our sister ship. Out of a compliment
of 571,
only 525 survived, which was incredible, due to the circumstances. At least
all of the Jem-Hadar who boarded the ship perished.

Du'Chut
Duty Log
Acting XO
Lt Chaos

"Today was a battle like none other. My Klingon crew are singing as we repair
the Bird of Prey of our glorious day of fighting. We destroyed 24 Jem Haddar
ships, damaged three times that many, saved the USS Aldrin and the USS
Grissom.
We are Currently Towing the Grissom and her crew back to our starbase as I
write this. My first officer Ben CheTing has informed me of our time table
for repairs. The Du'Chut has received heavy damage, but we will have her up
and running in no time. That is one thing that I like about Klingon designs...
Strong and Durable.
Several of the Fleet ships have been destroyed. Many lives were lost to the
Dominion and their Lizard men ... I am tired of this voyage and ache to be on
the Battle field with my klingon warriors fighting these dogs face to face."
:: puts the PADD down and walks out of the Captains office. Several Klingon
warriors Jump him in the hall way with a ferocious savagery. A flury of fists
and legs come from the pile of combatants. Chaos lifts one up and uses him as
a shield. Kicks the closest one in the chest and SLAMS his head into the
Thick cranium of another sending the stunned klingon to the ground. A thick
klingon by the name of Torg cracks a steel pipe over Chaos's head
sending him sprawling to the ground. The steel bar bends in half and is
tossed to the ground carelessly. The world begins to turn black.. but instead
it goes red... Blood runs into his eyes blinding him. Two klingons grab him
and haul him to his feet.::

Torg " I didnt think you were strong enough to lead us... and I was right.
you are a weak human after all. And to think, you are sung about as a mighty
warrior in klingon halls. BAH... we will kill you, just to put you out of our
misery. Weakling"

::Chaos lifts the two klingons and tosses them aside. Sidesteps another,
crushes several more to teh ground And SLAMS his fist into Torg's face with
all his might. But to his and everyones elses suprise, his fist goes through
the Klingons head with a sound of a boot hitting wet cement.::

Klingon " Torg is a Changling!!! Kill him!!!"

:: At once several Disrupter beams are fired at Torg the Changling melting
him to slag. When the smoke clears the Klingons help the wounded to their
feet. Chaos gives the order to begin checking for signs of Sabatage to the
ship. Later in the mess hall the Klingons tell of the mighty battle that was
one by the swift actionof their leader Chaos.::

:: later in his quarters Chaos thinks over the days events and still for the
life of him can not begin to understand Klingons...::

OPEN DUTY LOGS

I was posted on the U.S.S. Liberator, under the command of acting Captain
Kivo. I was stationed at Tactical. Not long after we were underway did we run
into trouble. Shields were raised and weapons charged and fired...and fired
and fired. There were Jem'Hadar ships everywhere...like little ants waiting
to be stepped on...so I did. We doubled back a bit to assist the Aldrin who
seemed to be swarmed with the little buggers..and I was more than happy to
shoot them off their aft(seriously...they were attacking aft...no pun
intended..altho..it is kinda funny...hehheh) After taking numerous hits and
giving back an equal....or greater amount...we assed the damage as the
Dominion seemed to be retreating. After giving an ok report to Captain
Kivo..sensors picked up 50 Dominion ships headed right for us....seems the
ants had sent out the rest of the troops. After a two minute victory we
readied for battle
in a split second...weapons still charged and ready to go..shields a bit more
than half...but the Liberator is a tough bird...and she made it through
alright. We weaved in and out of oncomming ships using "hit and run"
tactics...we avoided serious damage..and inflicted quite a bit as well. When
only a few ships remained, our back up arrived and scared the Jem'Hadar back
to their holes in the ground...where they belong. We were quite damaged..and
not
up for persuit, we headed back to the Aldrin and retook formation to regroup
with the rest of the fleet. Some Federation ships were lost..and we all mourn
their passing. Full damage reports on the fleet have not yet been issued. My
reports as follows- Shields: back up to 75%, barely holding at that. There
was moderate damage to port shields, we took alot of heat when playing
calvery to the Aldrin. Port shields recieved minor damage...nothing I can't
fix in a hour. Aft and forward shields recieved minimal damage...hardly worth
looking at, but I will. Weapons: Torpedo banks nearly depleted..definatly
need more weapons. Phaser banks were pushed to the limit with non-stop
fire...Aft phaser banks were heavily damaged due to a torpedo I neglected to
dodge. All remaining Phaser banks sustained minor damage...nothing that can't
wait till we get to a station for proper repairs. Engines:Minor damage to
nacelles...warp factor reamins at highest..impulse and propulsion are fully
functional. Bridge:cleanup crews...oh yeah...the bridge is slightly worn...a
few things thrown about...Captain Kivo's coffe (j/k)...minor circurty blew
out on the bridge..no systems have been compromised too greatly. We may be
scuffed up a bit...but we're ready to fly! U.S.S. Liberator Reporting-- (love
that name...Liberator...sounds so...Liberating..you knew that was
comming) :)

Computer, please log the following. The USS Drake, the USS Halverson, and
the IKC T'Acog were destroyed in the battle that ended at 00:15 on 9808.04.
I have just finished the list of causalities and fatalities...::Pauses a
moment:: of each ship and sent it to SFHQ. I am putting in for commendations
the entire fleet, due to the over whelming odds that we faced and conquered.
Although, I did have to borrow some tricks from others in the history of
the Federation. Using the holographic images of a greater force of
reinforcements helped a great deal to boost our morale and send the enemy
running.
It is my personal opinion that the cost will be high to regain our lost
territory, but it can be done, and should be done. Close log.

Personal Log
Killian Santiago
Fleet Captain
USS Aldrin

::Open log::

::Killian entered her quarters looking at the PADD in her hands. She wasn't
really reading it, burned into her eyes were the names on the two lists...and
a couple stood out like red flags...flags of sorrow.::

Causalities Fatalities
Devon Sylver Ingrid Santiago
critical, USS Grissom USS Discovery DWH
Janet Sylver
Serious, USS Mercury
Leslie O'Hanrahan
Stable, USS Bounty

::Killian threw the PADD across the room when she could no longer stand to
see the names. She was only thankful that Julio had gone with Tarva when he
became part of the OEP. She brushed off the attempts of Chester and
Alejandro to comfort her, she wasn't in the mood for company.::

::Changing quickly into workout clothing, Killian headed for Holodeck 2,
knowing it would be empty at this time of night. Once inside, she security
locked the doors, turned off the safeties, put on the blindfold, and began at
level 25. She wanted to punish herself for living...again...when those she
loved died and were injured.::

::When the program ended, most of the blood on her was Cardassian and
Dominion, not her own...but not all of it. Sitting on an outcropping of
rock, she took off her blindfold, but it didn't help much, she was still
blinded...but by tears.::

::Killian didn't know what she was going to do next. Ingrid was her
daughter...the first Horta to ever complete Starfleet academy and become a
starship engineer. Ingrid was taking after Chago, her daddy and hero. This
was Ingrid's first assignment...and her last. And from what Greg said...it
wasn't an easy death.::

::Burying her face in her hand, Killian's whole body was racked with painful
sobs. Greg sent a special report to Killian, knowing his baby sister would
want to know what happened to her daughter, his niece. He thought she had
taken it well, since Killian hadn't freaked out over the news. Little did he
know.::

::She could still see the words from Greg burned into her eyes.::

Ingrid died feeding the ship energy directly from her own body. When the
shields failed, she thought it was the only way. By the time someone saw
what she was doing, she was already nothing but burning silicon. But, she
saved the ship and was accorded full honors for her life-giving service to
the ship and crew in extreme conditions. There is a shell left of her to be
returned for burial at the
family plot back in Vancouver.

::Killian stood and threw some of the holodeck rocks at the walls. It was
just a few days ago..not even a week past that Ingrid was all but bubbling
acid at her excitement to finally be on a ship...and to be on Uncle Greg's
was even better...almost as good as being on Killian's.::

::Sobbing to no one:: Now what am I to do? My brother is close to death on
the Grissom, my niece is in serious condition on the Mercury, and my sister
is injured on the Bounty. And my daughter...my dear Ingrid...dead. And why?
Because I wasn't good enough to keep them alive. I wasn't good enough.

::Killian stood, replaced the blindfold:: Well...the only thing to do now is
get good enough...to try to keep the rest of my family alive.
Computer...lock and load. I don't want to stop until I successfully route
the enemy without losing one person. Begin.

::And the madness continued............and the sorrow didn't die.::

USS ALDRIN
Duty Log
First Lt Chaos

Todays assignment was an interesting one. We were sent to retrieve certain
objects from the crash site of the Enterprise D. These items included scrape
metal, various personal effects from crew members that were forced to abandon
them, medical supplies, and one program from the Holodeck called "Moriarty"
for Captain Picard. THe program was retrieved as well as the other objects,
but when Lt Cdr Terlak activated the "moriarty" program all things wentto the
fan. This Moriarty persona has taken control of the Holodeck and is slowly
taking control of various areas of the ship. I am on my way down to the
Holodeck to force the locked doors open. I am then going to Rescue Lt Cdr
Terlak and wipe that holodeck clean. I shall report back when I am done.

OPEN DUTY LOG
I am stuck in Holodeck 3, with a phaser pointed on me by the
infamous Moriarty, who shut off the holodeck safties, along with Countess
Regina. I am attempting negotiations, and I hope that Moriarty does not get
infuriated and shoots someone. I also hope that he doesn't become aware that
he has free roam of the ship, thanks to holo-emitters. The only card I have
to play is not a handy one at all, this man is infuriated at Picard, who once
again decieved him, in some way. Moriarty is irrational and will do ANYTHING
to get back at Picard, which is why Moriarty has to be stopped at all costs.

OPEN DUTY LOG
We got Moriarty's program "back in his bottle" so to speak. I went
easy on him, I wiped all memory of this incident for him and Countess Regina,
who I thought was innocently nice, until she took over Sickbay. The ship is
back under our control, and we have a warning interface to anyone who dares
to open it up, and we also installed a special password known only to the
senior staff of this ship and the Brass at Starfleet Headquarters. Oh,
before I forget, we had a rondevouz with the USS COCHRANE, where we beamed
them all of the salvaged equipment and supplies, not to mention other
priceless artifacts that will go to museums across the Federation. Well, I
guess that sums it up.
END LOG

::Terlak pulled his hand away from the console, barely able to keep track of
all that has happened in the past few days. Slowly he got up and found his
way to the turbolift::

TERLAK> Deck 1, Bridge

::As Terlak entered the bridge, he found the crew in a bustle to finish
beaming the cargo to the COCHRANE, it was soooo hard to let go of such
priceless artifacts::

CHAOS> ::sitting on the XO chair:: Operation complete.

TERLAK> Oh good, send our regards to the COCHRANE, and set in a course to the
Captains shuttle.

HELMSMAN> Course laid in.

TERLAK> ::soaking up the dramatic moment, then slowly raising his finger to
the screen:: Engage!

I kissed my wife and headed out of the holosuite. We were on Starbase
153 and my new ship was the U.S.S. Aldrin. Carefully, I walked down to the
promenade of the station. After looking around in a few shops, I bought a
rare Pablo Picasso painting. Strangely enough, it was an original. What a
find! I looked around at a few more shops and I ran into my boss, Chief of
Science First Lieutenant Tia Ryan. We talked and we
went to an Irish pub together. She saw a dartboard and dashed to it. I leaned
against the bar as I met and talked to Kartan. I chuckled as I watched Tia
throw darts. Kartan and I talked and we both joined Tia in darts. After a few
hours, the 3 of us went back to the ship. Tia showed me my post, the ship,
and where my quarters. I think Tia and I will become friends. I thanked Tia
and entered my quarters, beginning to unpack.
