*Begin Log*
I had some extra time to catch up on things in Engineering; the
last few days have been slower on the duty shifts. Lt WesC, per FstLt
Gygax's orders, has asked me to compile a report stating current repairs and
supplies needed, both aboard Everest and the Infinity. I have put together
the information and will submit it to him in the latter part of the day.
I completed diagnostics on the replicators, transporters, and the
power grid systems, which hadn't been done for a time. After minor
adjustments, the systems were running 100% smoothly.
Commander Nova returned after a leave of absence. I attended a
party in her honor at Zot's the other night; had a wonderful time. It is
good to have her aboard again.

Re: Engineering Status Report
Engineering has been working steadily since the encounter with the
Borg to restore Everest's station systems to normal. All essential systems
are in excellent working order. However, the Optical Data Network may be in
need of minor repairs. There has recently been complaints about turbolift
transport systems difficulty. Also, repairs on the ODN will increase
response times among systems throughout the station.
Supplies needed will be:
1. monocrystal microfibers
Qty: 475+
Repairs also continue on the Infinity, after being attacked by a
Romulan ship. 14 scheduled repairs have been completed; special supplies
will be required to complete the remaining. It is recommended that the Warp
Propulsion System be thoroughly checked, and repaired if necessary, due to
the recent activity the Infinity has undergone. The Structural Integrity
Field will need to be replaced before the Infinity's next mission. The ODN
system is in need of minor repair as well.
Equipment needed will be:
1. magnetic constrictor coils
Qty: 10+
2. monocrystal microfibers
Qty: 400+
3. Power conduits to support SIF Power (compatible with molybdenum-jacked
triphase waveguide)
Qty: 4+
Note: Surplus supplies can always be helpful; the "+" indicate that a 5-10%
surplus of these items would be useful. If this is not plausible, please
obtain the minimum number of supplies as indicated. Thank you.

I am starting to get used to my new rank. I enjoy being a senior part of the
senior staff. I even get to go to the senior staff poker games, with Tefa,
Tage, Soju, stacey and commander wit, it is fun. I even get more duty time
at the tactical console, I like it alot.
So today I was at the console for a little while today, I didn't encounter
much, so I spent most of my time just running diognostics and some tests on
the newly installed systems. I was also making sure all of the new systems
were working properly after the attack, I also found that we have removed all
of the borg implants in the systems

Phaser blasts and torpedoes and pulse weapons fly back and forth between the
Cr'Salien and Jem'Hadar ships.
Obrien>Engaging evasive pattern alpha one two four.
The runabout falls for a quick second, then regains position.
Kirmina>We need to get out of the crossfire.
Obrien>Your right we do.
The runabout engages its impulse engines and suddenly slants upward,
manuevering above the weapon fire.
Obrien>I'm activating shield just in case one of there shots hits us.
Kirmina>Good idea, but they're probably way to possessed with destroying each
other that they probably don't know we're here.
Obrien>I know, but might as well be safe. Is the Cr'Salien flagship here?
After checking the sensor console, he reports a negative to his question.
Kirmina>They're probably waiting until the rest of the fleet has weakened the
Jem'Hadar as much as possible.
Obrien>Sounds like a typical tactical stragegy. We've got to stop this
battle (and war) before the flagship gets here and the Jem'Hadar are
destroyed.
Kirmina>I though you hated the Jem'Hadar.
Obrien>I don't HATE them. Besides, they're my race and I can't let them be
destroyed.
Kirmina>But if the Jem'Hadar are destroyed by the Cr'Saliens, then stability
will return to the Alpha Quadrant, and we won't have to worry about them
invading any more.
Obrien>I know. But for some reason....I just can't let them be destroyed.
After a long silence, Kirmina finally speaks.
Kirmina>Okay then. If the tables were turned, I wouldn't want the Cr'Saliens
destoyed either.
Obrien>Good, now all we have to do is find out a way to resolve this
peacefully. Without getting anyone killed, or any ship getting destroyed.
Kirmina>Again, I agree. I think I've got an idea.
Obrien>What is it?
Kirmina>Well, I could beam over to the Cr'Salien ship that's leading the
battle, and get them to talk to the Jem'Hadar's lead ship.
Obrien>And I'd beam over to the Jem'Hadar's lead ship and convince them to
talk with the Cr'Salien's lead ship. Sounds good. All we have to do now is
get aboard those ships. I'm sure it'll be easy for you, but I'm not exactly
at best terms with the Jem'Hadar.
Kirmina>We'll start with me then.
Kirmina taps the console and hails the lead Cr'Salien ship.
Cr'Salien>What do you-. Kirmina!! Is that you?
Kirmina>Yes Torel it is.
Torel>Oh, I wish I could talk with you now, but as you must be able to see,
I'm sort of busy.
Kirmina>That's what I'm want to talk to you about. It is EXTREMELY urgent.
It has to do with the Jem'Hadar.
Torel>Well......out with it.
Kirmina>I don't think it's safe that I talk over a communications channel.
May I beam aboard.
Torel>.....Sure. One moment.
After several seconds, Kirmina disappears behind a flash of swirling light.

The last mission was to save young Ian Mairwen, who had fallen down a plasma
shaft. I geled my way down to where Ian was, he was unconscious from the
fall. Tessa went down a few decks and drilled the wall open. I handed him
through the hole and followed him to sickbay. He was ok, but he hadnt
regained consciousness yet.

I am looking foward to talking to mother in a couple of days, I think that we
have to talk about what she wants to do with her life, I don't think she
should be going around that galaxy steeling the secrets of cultures that we
are in a diplomatic war with. She should be at home watching the house like
a normall mother. If she wants to go to SFS and be an advisor to the mission
department that is o.k but that is not what she is talking about, she wants
to be on the front line sort of speak, she wants to
do what she did a long time ago. I will have to bring up the idea of
working behind the desk and advising the department. Maybe she can convince
the leaders to give her a high ranking job in the department.

Lieutenant Wes C'Rusher is sitting at is desk, in his office, reviewing
reports from other departments. When suddenly, all power goes out in his
quarters. "Computer...Lights", he says, with no response. He reaches toward
the control panel in front of his, and presses. Nothing. He taps his
commbadge, "C'Rusher to Gygax". Nothing. He gets up, and exits his office.
There are several officers, and crew members in panic in the cooridors.
Apparently, the power on the entire deck is out, which would disable
quite a few essential systems. So, he reenters his office. "C'Rusher to
Gygax--". Again nothing. "C'Rusher to Stacey--". Still nothing. "C'Rusher to
Whit--C'Rusher to Engineering--C'Rusher to ANYONE!", he yells frustratedly.
He turns around to view the power status reports, and according to them, his
deck is completely operational. He presses the control panel, getting a comm
line directly to Engineering. A small shrivled face of a new ensign appears
on the view screen, "Yeeessss sir?", he trembles.
"Excuse me, but can I speak to Mr. Gygax, please?", Wes says in a calm and
patient voice. "NOOOOO! Leave me alone!!!" the ensigns yells, and suddenly
falls to the ground. Wes presses another button on his panel. "Tessa, are you
there?" The voice of the doctor responds, "Yes I am, what is it Wes?". "I
was just talking to an Engineer through a comm link, he suddenly freaked out,
and fell to the ground", Wes replies. "Why didn't you call medical
emergency?". Again, he replies, "All the power on my deck
is out, I can't get anything to work, accept this comm channel". "I'll send
Mike to Engineering to---", Tessa is cut off in mid sentence.
"What the hell!", Wes yells. Suddenly, there's a low growling
around the corner. "Whose there?" Wes askes. The growlinging gets louder, and
suddenly a Klingon face appears. "SECURITY ALERT! SECURITY TO MY OFFICE---".
His voice is cut off.
TBC> Log by Wes

The growling gets louder, and louder. The Klingon steps even closer to him.
Suddenly Ltjg10s, and EnsSehebK enter his office. "Hold it right there!",
they yell, with phasers in hands. The Klingon raises a knife to Wes. Out of
no where, another Klingon appears, and stuns the two security officers. The
second Klingon approaches Wes, and tries to jab him with his fist. With a
quick hand, Wes grabs it, and throws him off to the side. He elbows the first
Klingon, and then reaches for his Bat'Leth (is that how
you spell it?) and hits the second. The first, lynig on the ground, taps his
commbadge and they are transported to a Klingon Vor'Cha class attack cruiser.
On the cruiser, the commanding officer steps toward him. Once
face to face with Wes, he trys to jab him, but with as little success as the
others. Wes, nearly blocks, and punches him in the stomach, knocking all the
wind out of him. The Klingon falls to the ground laughing. "Ha!", he says,"I
thought you hated Klingons, and everything they do!". Wes replies, "I have
grown into it, infact, I am beginning to enjoy it." The captain responds "It
has its rewards, doesn't it?". The lieutenant merely
stares at his foe.
"What do you want?", he mutters. "We just want to show you that
Klingons, are better than the pewny Federations", says the Klingon. "That
would be very difficult to do", Wes angrily responds. "Oh?, I think not". Wes
begins to stare at him again. "We plan to surprise attack your station" the
Captain tells him, "you see, we are cloaked right above it now". He yells in
Klingon to one of his officers, and suddenly Everest appears on the view
screen. Wes says, "That is not honorable at all!". The
captain turns slightly angry, "At this point we don't care. However, before
we destroy it, you are going to establish a data link, so we can get the
schematics to all of you precious developments". "I don't have that kind of
access to the computers", Wes lies. "You insult my intelligence Wes", the
Captain yells, "you will establish the data link, or you will die." With no
choice, Wes gives in, but not without a few tricks up his sleeves.
The Captain escorts him to a console. He begins to go to work,
telling of every step he takes. All of the Klingons are staring arrogantly at
what he is doing, not seeing him reach to the side, and sending a secret
transmission to Everest. The file is then brought up. The Klingons push
through to the console. Wes steps aside to another console. With his hands
behind his back, he works at the console. He begins by making the controls
show power drain. Then, he decreases power to the antimatter
containment field, down to 56%. The Klingons don't seem to notice that he
has done so, nor that all of the schematics he as brought up are fakes. So,
Wes begins to transmit instruction to Main Ops, on Everest.

My second week on the Everest has been as exciting as the first. There is so
much going on 24 hours a day...the starbase never sleeps. Today I finished
my presentation to FstLtPack on my idea about the phaser alignment coils.
After that I was off duty for a couple of hours and returned to another seven
hours of work. Although the work is sometimes tiring (not the least boring)
I still have a great time working with all my comrades and department heads.
I can see that in the future there will be no
time at all that I will be bored. And my birthday is coming around the
corner. On February 15 I will be turing 24 years old. I have alreday made
arrangments to take the week off to visit a few friends and family.

Today was a very boring day at the office. The tactical crew and I spent
most of our time removing all of the remaining borg cybernetic implants on
the systems. It seemed that tactical was second to engenering in the amount
of systems affected. The systems that were affected seemed to be the systems
that were insignificant. Such as the shield radiation generator. We could
live without it though. I have spent some time talking to fstlt Soju about
20th century aircraft such as the f-16 which is one
of my favorites. We discussed missile theory and other things. This week
has been pretty uneventful. I hope that the following weeks are more
exciting, sometimes like I say it is nice to have a relaxing week once in a
while.

FstLtNiron looks up from his console. "Captain", he announces, "I'm getting
another transmission from Wes". Captain Lynx stands up, and looks over to
Nirons station, "What is it lieutenant?". Niron replies "It's not very long,
but he says that the Klingons are planning to attack, and he has lowered the
containment field around the antimatter containment pods, and that we should
target there main reactor with quantum torpedoes, at high charge, this will
not destroy them, but disable them". Lynx turns to
view the holographic image of the outline of the Klingon ship. "RED ALERT",
Lynx orders, and the red panels begin to light up. "Captain, I'm getting some
more", Niron reports. "What is it?". "He says that he recognizes the
Klingons...there are 3 of them", he continues "they were put on death row by
the Klingon High Coucil. He also says, to lock onto his position". "How?",
Captain Lynx inquires. "He is transmitting his coordinates now. Captain Lynx
turns to Lt Mars at tactical, "Lock onto him, and beam
him directly to the bridge. Also, arm the quantum torpedoes, high charge".
"Aye sir", he responds, "Torpedoes charged and locked. Ready to transport Mr.
C'Rusher aboard".
"Good", Lynx replies. "Ready shields as soon as he's aboard.
"Ready". "Energize!", Captain Lynx orders. Wes suddenly appears before them,
and takes his station, "Thanks you guys!". Lynx say, "No time to talk. Mars,
raise shields, and fire quantum torpedoes". Mars: "Torpedoes away". The
Klingon ship explodes. Captain Lynx looks towards Wes, "What happened?".
There warp core containment was already weak, and apparently they transfered
power more power from their antimatter containment field to
weapons. However, I did detect 3 transporter signatures just as it exploded,
but I can't locate the destination". Lynx mutters "damn.....Stand down from
Red Alert. Lower shields." He turns to Wes, but says nothing, and enters his

Zelvei: May I take a seat?
Mairwen: Please do. How can I help you?
Zelvei: Well at my check-up last week, the doctor found a lump in my stomach.
It seems that I had a stomach cancer.
Mairwen: Cancer was cured in the Twenty Second Century.
Zelvei: Yea I know. They cured it, but I have to stop drinking.
Mairwen: Is that a problem?
Zelvei: Well, I've been drinking for five years and I can't help but go into
Zot's and pick up a drink.
Mairwen: Well you might have to go through a few therapy sessions and
counseling for a few months. We need to get you off alcohol.
Zelvei: Is that all? I can do that.
Maiwen: Yes, but you will need to go to all the sessions but you have to feel
that you accomplished your goal of stopping to drink.
Zelvei: ::sighs:: Where am I off limits?
Mairwen: You can go to Zot's but no alchoholic bevarages. Ok?
Zelvei: All right.
Mairwen: Good. Our next session is next week, Tuesday at O400 hours.
Zelvei: ::gets up:: Ok, Counselor.

I am on the infinity and I am using a device that my mother gave me, the
portable log maker, it lets you write logs and transfer them to the ship when
you get back. We are on our way back to everest at warp 7 since we lost most
of our fuel on the way to the planet. There is something very suspious about
that planet, we were attacked by romulans, actually I wasn't but the away
team was. Our scans indicate that there was no catastofic activity so we can
come up with one idea that this is some sort of
romulan trick, the big thing is why they would do this, we have had no
indication of anything that would be of any significance for the romulans to
see.

Today I was assigned to an away team mission on Telarus IV to find out the

because we destroyed one of their ships two weeks ago as Lt. Kirmina

rattling in the bushes and the Doc told Kirmina and I to check it out. A
Telarian came out at Kirmina and wrestled to the ground for his life. I put
an end to it by stunning the Telarian.
When I returned to the Everest I was promoted to Ltjg (Thanks) and partied at

Yesterday, we started a mission of an indefinite length of time. It was to
evacuate the planet of Telarus IV. It is a pre-industrialize civilation with
a population of about 200,000. We headed out at Maximum Warp, with me
doubling as Ops/Helm. As soon as the planet came within sensor range, we
began sensor sweeps, and FstLtPack began working on a probe. Upon arrival,
we came into standar orbit, and beamed the away team down. We then initiated
a low level tacyon scan, for cloake Romulan ships; we were
soon informed of a Romulan presence on the planet.
We (the Infinity) so let standard orbit, and left, moving around the
system, scanning for other ships. Soon, we intercepted a Secured Subspace
Transmission for the Captain, from AdmHyRisk. Upon recieving it, we beamed
the away team aboard, and began our journey back to Everest, which would take
a couple of days, since we depleted most of our fuel on the trip there.

Although I was originally slated for off-duty time, I requested and was
granted permission to assume tactical in Main OPS, as the post was not
occupied. First Lieutenant R. Soju was in command in OPS, until the arrival
of Commander Nova. First Lieutenant R. Soju moved to the operations console,
and Commander Nova took command. The Infinity was cleared for departure for
its mission to <Classified>. As the Infinity cleared the immediate area of
Everest, we were alerted to the approach of a transport,
carrying Federation criminals. The vessel was manuevered into a docking
position, when we detected a radiation flux originating in the port quarter
of the vessel. Attempts to elaborate on the radiation were not successful,
and it was decided that any furthur delay in the transferring of the
prisoners would have serious consequences. The team was dispatched, led by
First Lieutenants K. Hawkins and Stacey Kassmar.
Once the team had entered the transport, the radiation began to interfere
in communication with the away team. The radiation signature grew, and the
transporter lock on the team was lost. Sensor input from that area was also
not functioning. The transport began exhibit signs of severe radiation
interference, and the criminals escaped from the vessel. The criminals
secured a nearby cargo bay. All attempts to remove the away team from the
damaged vessel were unsuccessful, until our idea: exhaust phaser
EPS radiation, causing an opportunity to transport the away team off of the
transport. First Lieutenant R. Soju vented the radiation, while Commander
Nova remained in close contact with the security forces, tracking the
criminals. When initial attempts to transport, using the phaser radiation,
the away team failed, it was determined that only a confined transporter beam
would be successful. The team gathered closely together, and the transport
was successful. The security forces had contained the
criminals when it was confirmed that all contact with the Infinity has been
lost.
We were able to establish a lower frequency channel with the Infinity.
The Infinity layed in a course at maximum warp, but due to unknown damage, it
will take some time before it arrives. Several transmissions from
<Classified> to the Infinity were noted.

Today has been another extremely exciting day. It just doesn't seem to stop.
One breath-taking mission after another. It's not like I have a problem with
it, I just wanted to make sure it was noted.
Today, I began by going over a list of some recent R&D security devices and
made up a list on a PADD and gave it to Hawk for his approval. After
approving it he gave it to Stacey. I found an extremely interesting device
designed awhile ago by my old friend Lt Wren. It was a suit made of a
special fabric which is detectable with any type of sensor array (tricorder,
internal sensors, extrenal sensors, etc.). It was quite remarkable, but not
long after I had that though was a proved wrong.
Our mission today was to provide the security department with top of the line
security devices to make sure that 2 dozen prisoners arriving on a freighter
would be safely contained.
We began our mission by meeting in the Security Department. Stacey was late,
so we continued on without her. Nick informed us he had an EnsZach in the
Security Office that would be ready to aid us as soon as we needed it.
We then went to the bay where the freighter was docked. No sooner had we
entered the bay, we were informed Mars had detected a plasma leak on the
freighter. They were able to sealed it with a forcefield, but we used our
radiation suits anyway. Stacey arrived just in time to slip into a suit and
board the freighter with us.
We entered the freighter to find absolutely nothing. Not one soul. However,
we did discover the suits that were being used to track them. We continued to
search the freighter, and still found nothing. Stacey went to engineering,
while Hawk and I split up to search some more. I suggested going to check
the bridge, but was called away to engineering to help Stacey with the some
warp core problems. Fortunately, she had already completed the shutdown
sequence when I arrived. Hawk then said that we had
to leave, and that we had to hurry. We didn't leave immediately though. I
searched for the prisoners on my way to Hawk's position. I arrived and we
immediately were beamed safely to a safe position aboard Everest where we
could aid in the search for the prisoners.
We removed our radiation suits and were ordered to Bay 5, where the prisoners
had escaped to. By the time we arrived, the prisoners had already made it to
grid 6. We had to make sure they didn't get any farther. When we arrived at
Bay 6 the prisoners had been contained. The security department took them to
the brig, where they were finally contained.

Our last mission was a very complicated one, but it was carried out
successfully. The crew aboard the Infinity was told by Fleet Captain Lynx
that Everest had been taken over by prisoners... In reality, the crew aboard
Everest, including myself, were all safe and sound, preparing a holiday party
upon their return. Away teams beamed aboard, finding only life signs in the
Commons, where the party was. When they entered, we all yelled "Surprise!"
and did something party-ish. This scheme was accepted
differently among members of the crew; I thought it was a very well-executed
plan to have some fun for the holidays.
Now that the fun is over, perhaps I will need to get back to Engineering
duties soon. There are no scheduled repairs for this week, so myself and
other members will probably be running diagnostics and tuning up systems.

Lieutenant Mars scratched a sore spot on his temple gently. He winced and
decided to leave the area alone, lest it became worse, and he was forced to
pay a visit to sickbay. The thought of the medical staff laughing about it
was not a goal of his. Mars turned his mind back to his assigned work, a
thorough diagnostic of the phaser EPS systems. He looked up from the console
and mentally took notes on the other officers. They were all busy with
repairs, also. Mars sighed. He tapped in a series of quick
commands on the tactical console and then ran over to an environment
console. He looked up briefly, realizing that he needed someone to shut down
the phaser systems while he ran the diagnostic. Mars didn't like asking for
help. He glanced about and spotted a young ensign sitting at ops.
"Hey! You at Ops... What's your name," Mars asked quickly. She turned and
snapped to attention. Mars rolled his eyes discreetly.
"Ensign Scott, sir," she replied curtly. Mars looked back down at his
console, before replying.
"Ensign Scott, please shut down the secondary phaser relay," Mars ordered
in his best commanding type voice. Several jay-gees over by the science
console chuckled amongst themselves. Mars gave them a deathstare.
"Lieutenant, the secondary phaser relay is shut down," she said proudly.
"How wonderful of you, Ensign," Mars muttered. He took a detailed scan of
the system, noting that with the secondary array turned off, the scan of the
main array was much faster. He took three scans of the EPS grid to be sure,
and smiled happily. "Done," he mused. He checked his chronometer and realized
that his shift ended three minutes ago. He turned the secondary system back
on and marched out of Main OPS.

"Official Arrival"
***Open Log***
Today I finally arrived back at Everest after about four months out on a
mission. It all started back in July. I recieved an encoded subspace
message from StarFleet Intelligence. They figured that because I was a full
blooded Bajoran, I would make a good spy in aiding them to infiltrate the
Maquis. Of course, for those exact same reasons I didn't want to go along on
the mission. Reluctantly, I finally agreed to it. I would spy on the Maquis
for approximately two weeks and then return to my
currently stationed vessel. I figured, that at the least I would earn some
more credit toward a promotion. This was my first mistake.
In late August, Starfleet Intelligence sent me a runabout, yellowstone
class. It was slightly damaged and looked war torn, purposely. Starfleet
Intelligence rushed me in and sent me on my way before I could even leave a
note. They said that they had contacted Captain Lynx and told him of my
needed services. I figured, so far, so good. I was even given coordinates
to go to in order to meet with the Maquis and join them. I went to warp two
and was on my way.
Six hours later I arrived at the given coordinates. After waiting for
approximately 45 minutes the Maquis arrived. When asked what I could give
them to prove my allegiance, I suggested my runabout. They greedily accepted
and I was in. I got to talking with them in the local bars. Most of them
are of Bajoran descent fighting for vengeance. A small percent are
mercenaries, and an even smaller percent are people who defected from Star
Fleet. I began togather all the information I could on them,
when it hit me. What the Cardassians did to Bajor, to the people of Bajor,
and the aftershocks it had on Bajoran culture were unforgivable in many
minds, including mine. My mother's death is still quite clear in my head and
I do not forget easily. I could not spy on a group of peoples who were
fighting for what I believed in. But if I joined them I would sacrafice my
entire StarFleet career. The choice was hard, and I finally came to the
decision to return to Star Fleet and sacrifice the mission.
It wasn't as easy as I first thought. I talked to the Maquis command, who
will remain unnamed, and he simply told me that I couldn't get my runabout
back right away, and I would have to stay with the group for three months in
order to regain my runabout. Having no other options at the moment
(StarFleet was already mad about me not completing the mission, losing their
runabout wouldn't help) I stayed and helped around their small encampment on
a classified planet. After the three months were over, I
got my runabout back. I piloted it back to Deep Space Nine and spent one
week there.
Finally, my ride back to Everest arrived. It was a freighter from Bajor
that was carrying supplies to trade with the aliens of the world that Everest
orbits. I have been on this freighter for eight hours now and our ETA on
Everest is approximately two hours and thirty four minutes. That's all for
now...

We left the station onboard the Dytallix. I was all by my lonesome in
engineering so I decided to make some small little adjustments. They
ofcourse, are really bad for the ship, but we needed some extra power. We
encountered some Jem'Hadar warships, and so I was busy making repairs and
loading quantorps. We managed to destroy most of them. I then went to the
bridge. We were taking so much damage, that i suggested that we evacuate on
the Runabout. But Hawk has yet to make any action towards this, and I
dont plan on orderring anyone to evacuate. Nor will I ever abandon anyone,
so I guess we'll just have to fight it out.

Several Conduits in main engineering need to patched up. The main hatch to
the antimatter containment unit needs to be bolted and welded back in place.
Atleast 15 hours of repair work by myself. atleast 15 quantorps were fired
within a span of about 1 minute, the tubes have been severely scorched and
one of the tubes has collapsed. That will take about three hours to replace
the wasted tube and about an hour and a half to get all the scorching off.

On stardate 9612.29 and 2000 hours, we initiated simulations of
scenarios. I was set in the Tybirian Jungle with Lieutenant Commander
Mairwen, and Lieutenant Mars. We proceeded on foot when Mars noticed a
lizard on the log he was sitting on. I scanned the lizard, and, not finding
my venom sacs, a stomach, or anything potentially threatening to my life, I
picked up the lizard and it bit me. I put it on the ground after Mars got
up, and Mairwen applied a bandage. After the refresher Med course,
we continued, searching for a compund so we could begin our reconnaissance,
but were ambushed by an automatic gun and a holographic Romulan. After
Mairwen discovered the Automatic gun and switched it off, the Romulan
disappeared. After discovering I was wrestling with thin air, and that
Mairwen and Mars were watching me I got up. So we continued along when I saw
several lizards, much bigger than the one I had before. I made a quick
sarcastic comment to Mars("Maybe you can eat them") and Mairwen had
the idea of swinging tree-to-tree with vines. Mairwen and Mars got across
and it was my turn, so I jumped. However, halfway along the swing, the vine
broke, causing me to fall to the ground. After a couple seconds, I regained
conciousness and found out that the lizards were approaching ME. Mairwen had
said that they probably smelled the smaller lizard on my hands, that's why
they were after me. Mars had delusions of grandeur of "saving" me, but I
wouldn't let him. By bringing me along, I'd be
bringing the lizards with me and endangering the mission. He still wouldn't
allow me to go off alone. So I ran away from him. The lizards followed me,
and Mars quickly climbed a nearby tree. The lizards chased me right up a
tree, and they started climbing, too. I quickly thought of an idea. I
climbed out on a branch, grabbed a vine, and when the lizards were on the
branch, I jumped across to another tree. The branch couldn't support the
weight of the lizards when they tried to follow me and
broke, sending them to the ground. I saw Mairwen, Mars, And First
Lieutenant Stacey off in the distance, so I went to join them. When I got
there, I was paired with Mars and started off in the direction of the
compound. We got to a clearing, and we were told to look for an opening. I
was walking around when I fell through some false ground. I made a mental
note that this was not the best day of my life and I had to make sure I
mentioned that in my log. I heard two Romulans talking about biogenic
weapons and testing, explaining why the lizard had no stomach, it was
destroyed in weapons testing. Commander Mairwen jumped down into the hole
and Mars and Stacey were just on their way when our duty shift ended. We
paused the simulation and left.

the story is with smuggling pirates. We are using a new thing just off of
R&D it is a underwater suit with a limit of 2 miles with 2 hours worth of
Oxygen, It is equiped with HUD for quick Data reference. It is like what
was used on the fighter planes of the late 20th century. I do belive I can
master these devices in a short while, if I get to use
them. I would like to congratulate Lt Commander Tage on her promotion, I

On sd 9612.29, I was part of a simulation in the Tyberian jungle. I had a
bit of a problem entering the simluation, but once I was there, I joined the
other members of my team: Lt Cmdr Mairwen, Lt Mars, and Ltjg Kirmina. We
were to locate the compound containing Romulans and their "implements of
war"... After swinging among the trees, we split into two groups. I was
with Lt Cmdr Mairwen, and we began by heading northeast, the Romulans'
probable location. We found no readings here, so we went east,
and rendevous-ed with Mars and Kirmina. By this time, we got out of the
trees and searched by foot, with the compound nearby. Kirmina fell through a
patch of "false ground" and heard some voices talking about a "biogenic
weapon". Lt Cmdr Mairwen had climbed into the hole to investigate it when
the simulation had to be temporarily postponed for the time being.

I am continuing my training with the underwater flight suit that I am ordered

to find it very interesting that there is a technology that is not that
advanced that will be able to help us here in the 24th century. The think
that strikes me as sort of primitive the hud(Heads up display) it is what was
used on the late 20th century aircraft of the military. In a sense It will
be sort of fun to use those suits, also I look foward

I am continuing work on training to use one of the underwater suits. I
really belive I have the hang of them, To be honest, If I didn't have the
hud on the suit I would probably be lying dead in the water in our
simulations. On the F/A-18 and other planes the hud indicates altitude speed
and it shows the lock on of the missile. On the underwater one the hud
indicates the feet below sea level, our speed and the status and the lock on
status of the laser and wielder beam. It is sort of the same thing,
it just strikes me as weird that we in the 24th century are using a
technology that was used back in the 20th century, almost 400 years ago. So
I find it reassuring that we can use 20th century technology here in the
24th.

Almost On Duty Log
Zelvei walks through the mass of crowds around Zot's and in the Shopping
District of the Everest. As he walks to the turbolift to report to duty he
sees a strange human man leaning against the wall next to turbolift.
Zelvei: Another drunk guest. (grunts)
Zelvei walks over to the man who apparently doesn't even see Zelvei. Zelvei
taps him on the shoulder. He does not answer. Zelvei lifts up the man's
long trench coat. Strapped to his waste is seven sticks of deadly
explosives. The man pushes Zelvei onto the ground.
Man: Nobody move, this is a suicide bomb!
Zelvei: ::under his breath:: Where the hell is a phaser when I need it?
Man: You get up and I'll blow this station sky high!
Zelvei: We are sky high.
Man: No one gets hurt if you stay in place.
(In the crowd)
Smile: ::taps his comm badge:: Suicide attempt by turbolift B. Security
team on the double.
Man: You! Get up here. ::grabs Zelvei and holds a phaser up to his head::
If you do anything I'll kill him, first. Then all of you with the bomb.
Zelvei: You're making a mistake.
Man: You're making a mistake to even talk to me. If you shut-up it'll go all
smoothly.
Zelvei: What do you want.
Man: I want a ship out of here. No escorts or passengers. I want a ship in
15 minutes.
Zelvei: That's going to be hard to arrange.
Man: Well it's not gonna be hard for me to arrange blowing this place into
space dust, will it?
Zelvei: No, it won't. But if you give me some time to kill, I'll get you
anything you want.
Man: No tricks.
Zelvei: No tricks.
Man: And I should beleive you?!? What do you think I am? I mad man.
Zelvei: Then come with me. Let's go to Ops and talk to the Captain.
Man: Ok, let's go.
Zelvei, with a gun pointed to his head gets on the turbolift and punches in a
code to ops. The man looks around with the gun still pointing at Zelvei.
Back in the Shopping District...Smile is with the security team.
Smile: I have an idea. Can we put him in a forcefield of some sort?
Seheb: The brig?
Smile: No, so he's trappe din the forcefiled all around him.
10s: I think I can arrange something. A forcefield that could contain him
from the station doing no harm to us could do the trick.
Smile: Get to it.
The Turbolift....
Zelvei: Why are you doing this?
Man: I want my revenge.
Zelvei: On who? Starfleet?
Man: It doesn't make any difference to you. you'll be dead in a little
while.
Zelvei: Suit yourself.
Zelvei kicks the man's shin and punches the phaser out of his face. He gets
him a headlocks and knees the back of his thigh. The turbolift stops and it
opens up to Ops.
Smile: Get down!
Zelvei jumps out of the turbolift as 10s uses his tricordser to initiate the
forcefield. The man activates the bomb as the forcefiled surrounds him.
Man: You'll all be blown to smitherines!
The bomb detinates and explodes inside the forcefiled, killing the man in his
suicidal attempt to blow up the station.
Smile: good job, 10s.
10s: Thank you, sir.
Smile: Zelvei, are you Ok?
Zelvei: I thought being stuck in the Jeffries Tube was a big deal.
Smile: Just want to know if you're all right.
Zelvei: I'm Ok.
Seheb: Did he reveal any information to why he attempted to harm the station?
Zelvei: He said that he wants revenge and it wouldn't make a difference to
me.
Smile: So he killed himself while trying to kill us.
10s: You mean he didn't know he was in the forcefield?
Smile: It didn't look like it.
Zelvei: I think that I have killed another innocent life again.
Smile: No, on Telarus IV it was out of self defense...this time the whole
Starbase was at risk. Would it be right to save one life or over 800?
Zelvei: I feel so guilty.
Smile: Don't. You did the whole starbase a favor.
Zelvei: I did. You're right.
Smile: Come on...let's report back.

After just returning from a leave-of-absence I was about to get settled in
at the Security station on the bridge when Captian Lynx asked me to meet him
and First Lieutenant Niron in the Commons. I hastily made my way to the
Commons, anxious of what dangerous and thrilling assignment the Captain had
planned. When I arrived, I found I was the first to arrive. I sat at the
table and awaited the Captain. First Lieutenant Niron arrived next and he
stood. We talked breifly before the Captain entered.
He walked right over to our table and sat. He welcomed us both back. Then
he asked us to meet him in Pyra G. We both followed him.
Once in Pyra G, we headed straight for the Iconian Transporter. Once there
he contacted Chief Security Officer Smile and had him meet us in the Iconian
Transporter room. When Chief Smile arrived we were breifed. Our mission was
to travel through the Iconian Transporter to a Station of some sort in the
Gamma quadrant. It was farely close to the wormhole that leads to Deep Space
Nine. Apparently, some kind of energy signatures were being picked up. It
is possible that the Dominion is gathering a
large fleet of Gem Ha'dar vessels to form an armada. Once this armada is
formed, they will travel through the wormhole and attack Deep Space Nine.
After the conquest of Deep Space Nine and Bajor, they would move on. Our
mission is to infiltrate the station and find any information we can.
After the breifing we got into black tactical suits and equipped ourselves
with tricorders and other scanning equipment. Unfortuantely, weapons cannot
be brought through the Iconian Transporter. This means we would have to
fight Gem Ha'dar hand to hand. Based on what we know of Gem Ha'dar, this is
going to prove extremely difficult.
Next we lined up and prepared to go through the transporter. Captain Lynx
would lead the team, which was suprising given his rank. I guess Star Fleet
thinks he's expendable. The Inconian Transporter opened the gateway and I
leaped through. Following me was Smile, and then something went terribly
wrong. The entire transporter began to fluctuate and lose stability.
Captain Lynx jumped through and suffered an injury to his leg. Niron was not
as lucky. There was a blast and he was thrown through.
He had been knocked unconscious and we had lost our means of getting home.
Chief Smile and I dragged Niron into a nearby room while Captain Lynx set up
a perimeter detection device. While Chief Smile worked on helping Niron, I
used my tricorder to scan for Gem Ha'dar. I then reconfigured it to block
out our signals. Unfortunately, it didn't work.
The Gem Ha'dar didn't register on my scanner, but they used some kind of
device to block their signals. They opened the door and began firing inside.
We were weaponless, so we jumped for cover, leaving a semi-conscious Niron
lying on the table. Then the Gen Ha'dar threw in a photon grenade. We would
all surely be killed if it wasn't for Niron. He jumped onto the photon
grenade using his body as a shield. It went off and he was killed, but we
were saved. Too bad we had no time for morning. The
Gem Ha'dar appeared and we rushed them. The Captain took one out while I
defeated another by ripping out the small line the supplies them with the
white substance. The Gem Ha'dar have a lot more strength than most people
would think. Chief Smile also took one out and we made our way steadily down
the hall. Now to see if we can make it out of here...

slit his throat, Zelvei's phaser rifle goes off and the man turms into dust.

Dr. McGill: You do not kill an innocent civilian. I am very disappointed at

Dr. McGill: Always keep your phaser on stun, always. Can you handle this
phaser?
Dirk: Or go trigger happy again.
Zelvei: I can handle it.

Intelligence Report
Not Classified
Operation "SOSR Training"
At approximately 2010 hours on stardate 9701.05 myself and the SOSR
training team under command of FstLtGygax, entered the training simulator
located in Pyra G. We began a operation involving a possible scenario in the
future. In the scenario the Gem H'dar have constructed a station on the other
side of the wormhole from Deep space 9. This station poses a great threat to
DS9 and needs to be investigated immediately. A team from Everest, using the
iconian transporter, is to covertly enter the Jem
H'dar station, plant probing and data-transferring devices in it's main
computer core, then leave the station with all due speed. The ideal situation
would be for us to leave with out encountering any resistance or trouble.
However, this mission was far from ideal.
Soon after arriving the team, consisting of FstLtGygax, FstLtStacy,
LtCdrTage, FstLtPack, EnsMontague, and myself, made way for the nearest
computer terminal. Only one Jem H'dar was encountered, and using his morphing
capabilities FstLtGygax quickly disabled him. FstLtStacy quickly moved to the
terminal. She was able to locate the main computer core quickly, and we made
way for it. Using a Tri-corder LtCdrTage located a Gem H'dar patrol heading
for us. My suggestion was for us to head into the power
conduits and the Jem H'dar equivalent of "Jefferes tubes". Thus avoiding
detection that could seriously jeopardize the team. However FstLtGygax made
it very clear that he intended to engage the patrol group. He felt that time
was to precious and we needed to take a direct route. Following orders, we
set up to ambush the patrol. Using a weapon taken from the Jem we had already
killed we proved a formidable match, and all of the patrol was killed. Four
by phaser fire and one in my hands.
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
The team quickly moved to the Turbo lift and soon arrived at the computer
core of the station. Moving quickly Stacy and I started working on the
computer core console. Soon time became precious as large groups of Gem H'dar
began converging on the computer core control room. My summation would be
that the patrol we killed must have missed it's scheduled report in, causing
the station to go on alert. It would then take only seconds for us to be
located. We finished the bug placing with only a few
seconds to spare, as the Gem H'dar launched their attack. A furious
fire-fight followed. FstLtGygax quickly reactivated the Iconian window, and
our team began to pull out. Several members were pinned under fire and could
not reach the window. FstLtGygax took a hit and fell to the ground. Several
team members were unsure of what to do. I was one of them. But sensing that
something needed to be done fast I laid down suppressing fire and told
everyone to pull out. Everyone soon headed for the window and
left. I stayed and moved quickly for Gygax. The moment I reached him he fell
unconscious and turned into his natural gelatin state. This proved to be a
problem as I overshot him and slipped on him. Falling to the ground I twisted
my ankle. However I did not take the time to see how bad. Using a sampling
device that was standard in the Cover-op pack was carrying; I sucked Gygax
into the sampling container. I then made a break for the door, taking at
least one hit before I got through the window. The hit
was on my right leg, but caused no heave damage as it impacted as I was
entering the window. After arriving back on Everest Gygax regained
consciousness and came out of the sampling container. The hit to my leg,
being part of the simulation, caused no injury. However my slip on Gygax did
in fact twist my ankle, thus with the aid of LtCommander Tage I was taken to
sickbay. The mission was the called to a end.
FINAL SUMMARY:
MISSION: FAILED
Although we did mange to plant all of our listing devices, the facts are that
we were engaged and pursued in battle. This means that our presence on the
station was well noted, as was our time spent in the computer core control.
With this knowledge the Jem H'dar would have soon scanned, with a high level
of accuracy, all areas we had access to. They should have no problem locating
the devices we planted and removing them. The outcome of this mission broke
nearly every aspect of the word "covert-op". And
I am forced to report it as a failure on the records. However, I believe
that several good tactics were used in our engagements. We destroyed the
enemy very accurately and with good positioning. The problem was that
destroying the enemy had no part in the mission we were assigned.

Stardate 9711.16
Chief Security's Office
Traci Tage stormed in her office and slammed down her PADD. "Computer,
begin recording. Chief of Security's Duty Log, Stardate 9711.16. Since
Commander Tefa was not present, I took the USS Infinity out on some mundane
assignment to go fetch some fossil of a worthless vessel." Traci pursed her
lips, and started pacing in front of her desk. "We found it without a
problem. Obviously, I mean, what is it going to do? Grow legs and walk away
from
us? No, I don't think so. In fact, the only problem I could see was that
the warp core was about to blow the thing to kingdom come. Of course, I
couldn't let the precious ship be blown into a million pieces," she added
sarcastically, "So, I sent Shadow and Commander Seheb over. That's when
Doctor Smile noticed that the derelict was created from some strange
material. He and his staff decided to beam it over for analyzing. By that
time, Shadow
had managed to stabilize the warp core and they were ready to begin linking
its database to the Infinity's for download. So, they beamed back over and a
tractor was placed on the derelict. We arrived at Starbase Everest with the
ship, amazingly, still in one piece."
Traci continued to pace and then suddenly whirled around and slammed her
fist down on her desk. "I don't know when the hell a Security officer could
be mistaken for a R&D officer or even an Engineer, and quite frankly, I don't
care. But I will not, you hear me? I will not be reduced to some mundane
scientist!" She snarled and spat, "End log. Computer, make sure that it's
easily accessible." With a snort, she stormed back out of her office.

Intelligence Memo
CLASSIFIED CODE 1
CAPTAIN AND ABOVE
"EYES ONLY"
I believe that the SOSR training session at 2010 hours, on stardate
9701.05, may have revealed some concerns over mission profiles given to one
of the officers on the mission. In particular I am referring to First
Lieutenant, and Team Leader, Gygax. While technically accurate and very well
trained for the mission, I believe that the team was endangered for what
might have been Gygax's own personal gain. During a pivotal point of the
mission, there was a option to go around and wait for a patrol to
pass, or to engage the patrol approaching. The team leader ordered us to
engage the patrol, though I felt (and noted to the First Lt.) that we could
have waited for them to pass or gone around. His thought was that there was
insufficient time to take that course of action. I conceded to his authority
as team leader, and we engaged the group. After destroying the group FstLt
Stacy was huddling over one of the Gem H'dar's body's. I distinctly heard
Gygax comment that they did not deserve to be mourned,
not after what they had done to him.
It is my belief that lust for revenge had guided Gygax to make the
decision for the engagement. The decision that risked our team to combat, and
ultimately led to a mission failure. Had this been a real engagement and not
a simulation there is all probability that lives would have been lost on both
sides. It is my recommendation for future evaluation of Gygax and
determination about a possible removal from assignments involving the Gem
H'dar. However, with that being said I also wish to state
that he is a outstanding officer, and a brilliant tactical leader. My only
concern is how his personal experiences might effect his judgment.
This memo is hereby attached to all files involving the mission, and on
Gygax's Intel file.

with a rather ease. But soon our port shields buckled. We quickly turned
our starboard side to them, and managed to destroy the remaining vessel with
a spread of quantum torpedoes.
First Lieutenant Koric Hawkins went down to Engineering, since damage
reports were pouring in. We had plasma fires all over the ship, and we need
to get our port shield back up.
Before that could happen, two more Jem'Hadar warships appeared, followed by
a tiny scout ship. The warships just hung there, and I kept a lock on them.
I didn't think of the scout ship being a threat. But the scout ship, more
compact and manuverable, made it's way to our port side, and began to beam
over boarding parties.
By the time we managed to figure out what was happening, it was already too
late. Even with the scout ship detroyed, the boarding parties were on board,
and the two warships begun their attack run.
The simulation ended there, and thankfully so. I was not looking forward to
the Dytallix blowing up, and the sudden shock of standing on the holodeck
grid. The R&D department has called for reports and suggestions to improve
the Dytallix and tune it to it's finest. I have begun looking over the data
collect during the battle. I should be able to draw up a report for the R&D
department soon.

The simulation went well, we planted the listening devices in the Jem'Hadar's

we were forced to fight them off. Even holographic Jem'Hadar.Those swine made

On stardate 9701.7 I was assigned to a team that was to investigate Pyra
E. The investigation was because something was detected even after we the
Barryium Sweep, which destroys all living material. Our team assembled in
Pyra E. It consisted of Lieutenant(Junior Grade) Seheb, Lieutenant Commander
Mairwen, myself, and First Lieutenant Smile. Mr. Smile was the team leader.
Upon arrival in Pyra E, Mr. Smile broke us up into two groups. Seheb and
Mairwen were to search the East Wing, while Smile and
I searched the West Wing. We were all given special devices which could
scan through the walls and bulkheads. They were also specially programmed to
detect the unknown reading that the internal sensors picked up. The two
groups went there separate ways. I began to scan the wall as did Smile.
After approximately twenty minutes, neither group came up with anything. I
volunteered to search the Jeffries Tube while they continued there search.
I entered the Jeffries Tube through an access junction. I began climbing
up and soon ound myself crawling through several different junctions. Soon,
I began to just guess which way to turn. I soon found myself lost. I was
about to contact Smile when I saw something up ahead. I thought I saw it
move, so I drew my phaser and set it for stun. I fired and the object
exploded. I crawled closer to get confromation of what I hit, when I
realized it was a deceased rodent. I cotacted Smile and told him
about my run in with the rodent and my current situation. He informed me
that there was an exit onto Deck 6 ahead on my right. He also told me that
they found several bodies, all with a distinctive deep wound on their chest.
Also, he said it was his belief that this was all done by one creature, so I
was to be careful. I thanked him and continued down the Jeffries Tube.
That's when my scanner began to beep. I quickly looked at it and saw a small
red blip. The blip was coming at me from behind at
a very high speed. I frantically crawled toward the exit.
After getting onto Deck 6, I made my way to the turbolift. I looked
behind me and too my horror, a small metallic mechanized thingymabob was
chasing me. I drew my phaser and fired at it several times. The Turbolift
was within feet when the small robot lunged at my achilles heel. It had a
small rotating blade mounted on the front and sliced clean through my heel.
I fell, and was able to shoot the robot. It didn't seem to damaged, but this
gave me time to get into the Turbolift. I crawled into it
and ordered the computer to lock the door. Then the robot tried to get in
and kept putting dents in the door. Smile and Seheb soon arrived and Smile
successfully destroyed the object. I got myself to Sickbay and they
dermoregenerated my missing skin in my heel. I then proceeded to the
Commons. As for the robot, it was believed to be the cause of the deaths.
It then began a timer to self destruct and was beamed into space.

Our away team, led by FstLt Gygax and consisting of myself, Lt Cdr Tage,
FstLt Pack, Lt Lejuene, and Ensign Montague, were sent to complete some
additional SOSR Training simulations. The scenario was a possible Jem'Hadar
station built near the wormhole; a possible threat to DS9. Our mission was
to use the Iconian Transporter and beam to the station, place "bugs" into the
computer system, and return with little conflict.
When we beamed aboard, FstLt Gygax quickly morphed his arm, and it was our
only weapon. After walking and finally locating a computer terminal, we
began to work. I placed a "bug" in this terminal and was ready to move with
the team to the computer core when Lt Cdr Tage noticed a team of Jem'Hadars
not far down the corridor. After much discussion, Fst Lt Gygax decided we'd
confront the Jem'Hadar; I was responsible for the death of at least one,
possibly two. In any case, we moved on.
We had exited the turbolift onto the deck of the computer core; Lt Lejuene
and I went to work quickly. We both uploaded the virus into their system as
fast as we could. Unfortunately, we were detected beforehand, and only
seconds after the system was "bugged", we were attacked by many Jem'Hadar
teams. Fst Lt Gygax opened up the Iconian Window, and each member of the
team eventually made it through, some with injuries, such as Lt Lejuene; Fst
Lt Gygax was knocked unconscious for a time and returned to
a gelatin state before being taken through the window. However, each member
returned to Everest in one piece.
Overall, the mission was successful; however, I believe that precautions
should be taken in the future to avoid conflict if at all possible to the
Jem'Hadar on this type of mission.

The day started normally. There was no unusual activity and the Comodore
had not given any special orders. I was at my normal duty station on
Operations monitoring Station Security. Much of the crew was enjoying rest
and relaxation around the station. The Comodore even encouraged us to take
some R&R as soon as possible. Lieutenant Lejeune was headed down to drop off
a report for Admiral HyRisk and asked if I wanted to come with. I decided to
go ahead and go with him. When we arrived at the
Admiral's quarters I stood outside while he entered. When he returned we
were thinking of where to go next. We decided to go back to Operations and
see if there was anything we could do.
While we were en route to Operations via the turbolift the Red Alert
claxon sounded. When we arrived at Operations, we found that the Station was
under attack by some unknown vessel. Lieutenant Commander Tage was in
command and Lieutenant Mars was at Tactical. Also, First Lieutenant Soju was
at Operations. Lieutenant Lejuene decided to make himself useful and offered
his help in identifying the alien vessel. I simply stood there and wondered
who would have the guts to solely attack a Space
Station. The vessel began firing at Everest and Everest returned fire. For
some reason we were having trouble destroying the vessel. First Lieutenant
Soju and Lieutenant Lejeune were having difficulty scanning the alien vessel,
so they tried to sending a probe. Right before the probe was due to send
back data, they destroyed it. This data was extremely important, and there
didn't seem to be anyway that a probe would be able to get close enough.
That's when I had an idea. I volunteered to pilot a
runabout close to the alien vessel and then send back the needed
information. At first my idea was deamed unsafe, but then I managed to
convince Tage that it was a risk worth taking. I proceeded to the Shuttle
Bay and got into a Runabout. I was cleared for departure and soon was
adrift. By manuevering the runabout I was able to dodge most enemy fire.
Soon, the runabout was close enough to the alien vessel to relay information
back to Everest. I began this transfer of data.
Suddenly my runabout took a dircet hit. I was knocked off course and the
communications systems were heavily damaged. Because of this I lost the
transfer protocol and all data transfer ceased. My runabout took another hit
and I lost impulse. The runabout returned fire, but was ineffective. Then
the runabout took another hit and main power went offline. The console
exploded and a fire erupted in the port nacelle. I was unconscious.
Apparently Everest got all the information they needed because they
captured the alien vessel, by tractoring it in. Lieutenant Lejeune beamed
aboard the runabout and put out the fire. Then we were beamed out. By this
time I was again conscious and standing. The runabout was tractored in for
repairs. I was told that I was to report to Sickbay, but instead I choose to
go to Operations for debriefing by the Lieutenant Commander. There I was
commended and told that all the attacking vessel's crew,
minus fatalities, were being held in the brig. I then returned to
monitoring ship's Security and even helped with some minor repairs.

that walking made me hungry. I went to the commons to grab a bite to eat.
Then I just went back to my quarters and slept the rest of the

Hawkins enters the warp field testing chamber and begins to check over the
equipment and sensor arrays contained within. Looking over the miniature warp
coil sitting on the test array he make some final adjustments to controls
before turning to the console. After checking the power relays he turns his
attention to the safety protocol that will control this test.
Hawk> Computer....... Run a level 3 diagnostic on the forcefield generators
and all safety system in the testing chamber.
Computer> Acknowledged.
Hawk> How long till they are finished?
Computer> The diagnostics will be complete in 10 minutes.
Satisfied that everything is ready, Hawkins leaves the testing chamber and
heads towards the control room.
Entering the control room, Hawkins sits at the main console and calls up
the diagnostics result on the main viewer. After the results appear on the
screen he begins to activate the chamber.
Hawk> Computer.. Activate level 1 safety procedures.
Computer> Acknowledged.
Hawk> Switch to manual control and begin recording.
Computer> Acknowledged.
Hawkins' fingers flash across the console as he begins testing the new
warp drive.
Computer> Testing chamber sealed. Atmosphere removed. Level 10 force field
activated. Artificial gravity generators off-line.
Slowly Hawkins begin to send power to the new warp coil, he smiles as a
blue glow reveals that a warp field is beginning to form. Increasing the
power he glances towards the warp field indicator, "So far so good" he thinks
as the glow brightens.
Calling up a comparison between power consume and field strength, he
notices that field strength is 5% below what it should be. Continuing to
increase power he watches the deficit grow with each joule of power he adds;
8%, 13%, 20%, ect.
Computer> 100% of test power has been reached.
Hawk> ::startled:: What? Already? What's the difference between plasma input
and warp field strength?
Computer> 76%
Hawk> ::slamming his hands on the console:: Damn! Shut down the test and
open the chamber.
Computer> Acknowledged.
Targanide Crystal warp field test 1 results
My preliminary analysis of the Targanide crystal coil has shown that it
will indeed create a warp field, although at a much lower strength then I had
expected. As it is these coils would need a Galaxy class core to propel a
ship the size of the Dytallix to warp 7. The warp field also contained many
flucuations that would put to much stress on the standard hull.
I have not yet given up on the crystals, but I have given up on the
standard warp coil design. The second test will be made with a newly designed
coil that should be ready to precede some time later this week.
First Lieutenant Koric Hawkins

Hawkins looks at the newly designed warp coil sitting on the table.
Eliptical instead of circular, twice the length as width this represents the
newest warp drive system developed at Everest.
Hawk> Computer open test report log.....
The second test with the crystals has been a complete success. The warp
field formed quickly and expanded smoothly. The power loss from the simulated
warp 9 test was less then 10%. The next step will be to create a coil that
will be attached to a warp sled for full scale testing.

Computer> Acknowledged.
Hawkins watches the simulation with growing interest.
Hawk> ::nodding:: Computer.... play back simulation for report 294.02D. Start
at time index 13.94 12.
Computer> Acknowledged.
Hawkins watches the second simulation, while making notes of the action on
the screen.
Hawk> Computer..... Will the device work as specified?
Computer> Affirmative.
Hawk> Perfect. Shut down play back.
Computer> Acknowledged.
Hawk> +Comm+ Hawkins to Lieutenant Kirmina.
Kirmina> +taps+ Kirmina here Sir.
Hawk> +comm+ I need to see you in my office Lieutenant.
Kirmina> +taps+ Aye Sir. On my way.
Hawkins leans back in his chair and reads over the report one more time.
After a short time the door chimes and Lieutenant Kirmina enters and stands
at attention.
Kirmina> Reporting as ordered Sir.
Hawk> ::smiling:: Have a seat Lieutenant. ::gesturing to a chair in front of
the desk::
Kirmina> Thank you sir.::sitting down::

Kirmina> Sir I've programmed all available information into the simulations

Kirmina notices Hawkins sly smile for the first time.
Kirmina> Of course you knew the results already.
Hawk> It's not a matter of what I know. It's a matter of "will it work." Will
it Lieutenant?
Kirmina> All the data leads me to believe it will. Yes sir it will.
Hawk> Well as I said I've been reading over the reports.. ::standing and
walking out from behind the desk:: ..and I've found a number of thing ::
sighing:: that lead me that exact answer. You'll begin construction of the
proto-type in two days.
Kirmina> ::standing:: Thank you Sir! I'll get started....
Hawk> ::raising a hand:: Hold on a minute. There's a condition.
Kirmina> ::looking confused:: Sir?
Hawk> The other day I saw you go back into the holodeck after the Inexorable
simulation...
Kirmina> Sir I just...
Hawk> and I appreciate it, but I need clear heads here. And you need a break.
Concider yourself off duty until your next shift.
Kirmina> But sir I've got a lot to do.
Hawk> ::smiling:: I don't need to make it an order do I?
Kirmina> No Sir. Thank you Sir.
Hawk> Dismissed Lieutenant. Go have a drink and relax.
Kirmina> Aye sir.
Kirmina notices a display screen behind Hawkins showing a grid of force
lines.
Kirmina> ::pointing to the screen:: What's that for.
Hawk> What? ::looking behind him:: Oh that's the warp field generated by the
Targanide crystals.
Kirmina> It doesn't look very strong.
Hawk> No it doesn't. I'm still working on it.
Kirmina> If you don't mind me saying sir.....
Hawk> Feel free Kirmina.
Kirmina> I'm not the only one that needs to relax.
Hawk> Point taken. Now get out of here before I put you back to work.
Kirmina> That's what I'm waiting for.
Hawk> ::laughing:: I know. Now go. Relax and have some fun.
Kirmina> Aye sir.
After Kirmina leaves Hawkins sits back at his desk and begins working on
the Targanide warp field again.

Hawk is sitting in the R&D office going over some last minute tests for
the Dytalix, when he decides to take a break.
Hawk> +taps+ Hawkins to Smile.
Nick> Smile here. Go ahead Koric.
Hawk> If you have a minute could you come down to testing range?
Nick> I'm on my way.
Hawk> I'll meet you there.
Hawk grabs a phaser that was sitting on his desk and heads towards the
testing range to meet Nick. In the chamber Nick arrives shortly after Hawk.
Nick> Hi Hawk. What did you want to see me about?
Hawk> ::handing Nick a phaser and taking one for him self:: Well a few weeks
ago I was talking to Ensign Dirk, ::setting up a moving practice target:: and
we were discussing what the problems with our phasers are. :: fires phaser at
target and hits the third ring from center:: Do you know what he said?
Nick> ::firing his phaser and hitting the second ring.. smiling at Hawk:: Not
enough power?
Hawk> ::looking Nick's phaser strike:: Good shot! No, he said that the worst
thing was that they could be used against us. ::fires and hits' bullseye::
Nick> Any weapon can. ::aiming phaser:: If it's taken from you.
Hawk> ::quickly putting his hand over Nicks phaser:: That's always a
possibility, right?
Seeing Nick nod, Hawk takes Nick's phaser and aims it at the target.
Hawk> So that is the worst part of them then?::lining up the target::
Nick> One of them, yes. ::watching Hawk closely::
Hawk> That's what I thought too. ::pressing the trigger.....nothing happens::
Hmmm, must be broke. ::pressing trigger again..still nothing:: I must need a
new one. ::hands it back to Nick::
Nick>::looking over the phaser:: It was working fine. ::aims at the target
and presses the trigger.... and hits the bullseye:: OK ::looking at Hawk::
what did you do to it?
Hawk>::smiling:: I took the liberty of fixing that problem. If you look at
the trigger you'll see that it's not the normal trigger.
Nick> ::looks at the trigger:: It looks different but what does it do?
Hawk> I put a miniature DNA scanner in it. It'll only fire for the right DNA
pattern.
Nick> Your kidding? No never mind, I know you're not. But what about the
power range.
Hawk> Well, on the type II I could only set it for one DNA pattern with no
change to the power level. On the type III I should able to increase it to
six or more.
Nick> ::smiling :: How long till the whole department has them?
Hawk> Way ahead of you Nick. We're already working on it. We should be
finished them in about two weeks.
Nick> ::shaking Hawks hand:: Thanks Hawk.
Hawk> I owed you one after the prisoners slip by me from that freighter.
Enjoy it Nick.
Hawk leaves Nick to practice with his new phaser.

Lieutenant Commander Tage, First Lieutenant Gygax and First Lieutenant
Hawkins are on the USS Dytallix with two Jem H'Dar warships waiting 23,000
kilometers away. In engineering, Gygax and Hawkins have just restored warp
power and brought the starboard shields back on-line. On the bridge, Tage has
just destroyed a scout ship that had approached through the downed shield.
~~~~~~~~~~ON THE BRIDGE~~~~~~~~~~
Tage> +taps+ Intruder alert!! Decks 5, 6, 7, 8! Watch yourselves... they're
heading towards you!
Hawk> Damn..... ::boosting power to shields:: +taps+ Activate internal
security systems, Traci!
Tage activates the internal security systems, but like many other systems
they were not fully functioning. Many force fields through out the ship were
not responding.
~~~~~~~~~~IN ENGINEERING~~~~~~~~~~
Gygax> +taps+ Hawk,,,, We have to evacuate.....
Hawk> +taps+ What's the problem Nick?
Gygax> +taps+ The core is going critical and we can't eject it, the system is
jammed!!!
Hawk> +taps+ I'd rather take my chances on board! I hear the Jem H'Dar don't
treat their prisoners very well.
Gygax> ::growling:: Damn.. ::seeing no other choice:: +taps+ I'm working on
it!
Gyagx's hands melt into octopus like appendages and fly across the main
engineering console rerouting power to core containment field. As unused
systems shut down throughout the ship gradually the containment field begins
to strengthen.
In another part of engineering Hawkins is rerouting power away from
damaged conduits. His anger rising as he watches conduit after conduit blow
with the added power.
Tage> ::gets an idea:: +taps+ Engineering!! Vent the plasma!! It'll screw
their sensors!!
Gygax> +Taps+ Aye Tage!!
Hawk> ::seeing a chance:: +taps+ Wait! Nick, on one vent the plasma. Traci,
on two fire all the available weapons. On three I'll take it to maximum warp.
From my mark.
Gygax> Ready! ::wondering if Hawk knows what he's doing::
Tage> Aye! ::hoping Hawk knows what he's doing::
Hawk> ::crossing his fingers:: Mark! One....
Gygax>::Slams down plasma venting button::Done!
Hawk> Two...
Tage> Fire!!
Hawk> Three.... Engage!
~~~~~~~~~~IN SPACE~~~~~~~~~~
Outside a cloud of plasma gas surrounds the Dytallix as all available
weapons open fire. At the same time the Dytallix streaks away from the cloud
at warp 8.
~~~~~~~~~~ON THE BRIDGE~~~~~~~~~~
Tage watches as one Jem H'Dar warship disappears in a flash of light after
being struck by five photon torpedoes and two phaser beams. The second ship,
struck by two torpedoes and one phaser, is sent spinning out of control.
Tage> ::slamming her hand on the console:: YES!!!!
Hawk> +taps+ Tage, Report!
Tage> +taps+ One ship destroyed! ::entering commands in the console:: I can't
tell about the second. The plasma is interfering with the sensors.
Hawk> +taps+ Great! Let's ge... ::phaser fire and an explosion::
Tage> +taps+ Hawk! Come in Hawk! Answer me! Hawk! Gygax something's happened
to Hawk!
Gygax> +taps+ I heard it. I'm on my way!
~~~~~~~~~~IN ENGINEERING~~~~~~~~~~
Hawk> +taps+ Great! Let's ge...
Hawk dives to the side as a phaser beam narrowly misses him and strikes
the console where he was working. Running for cover he sees two Jem H'Dar
warriors at doorway. Phaser blasts surround him as he rolls behind another
console.
Hawk> All right if that's the way you want it. ::reaching for his phaser::
You got it! ::he discovers the phaser is missing:: Damn it! ::hitting the
wall:: Great! Now what?
TBC
Looking around he sees his phaser lying on the floor halfway between him
and the Jem H'dar. Judging the distance, he decides that he will never reach
it.
H'Dar1> Come out Human! Or die hiding!
H'Dar2> No, we were told not to kill him. He must be brought back. Look there
on the floor, his weapon. ::laughing::
Hawk> %&^$%! I thought these days were over!
H'Dar1> Come out human and we'll let you live. Maybe?
H'Dar2> We will not hurt you if you grch...
Hawk> Grch? What the .....
Looking out from behind the console he sees the two Jem H'Dar floating six
inches above the floor. Slowly Gygax walks into view, he is holding the two
warriors off the floor by their necks with two cable like arms.
Gygax> ::smiling::You throwing a party without me?
Hawk> ::grinning:: Never again.::retrieving his phaser:: I think you can out
them down now. ::looking around engineering::
Gygax> You go to the bridge. I've got it taken care of down here.
Hawk> Thanks Nick.
Hawk runs out of engineering heading towards the bridge.
Tage> Starboard shield at 81%. Starboard torpedo tube off-line. Damage on
decks 4, 8, 9, 10.
Hawk> Setting course to Orthel VI. Warp 7.5. ::turning to face Tage:: hey
what about the intruders?
Tage> I got a transporter lock on them and .::trailing off::
Hawk> You sent them to the brig..
Tage> Not exactly.
Hawk> Not exactly? Where'd you send them, the shields were up? ::raising an
eyebrow:: You didn't?
Tage> Well, yes I did. ::quickly adding:: I just did it, I didn't even think
about it.
Hawk> Good. ::smiling:: But you didn't hear that from me.
Gygax> +taps+ Hawk, I've done all I can from here. I'm on my way up.
Hawk> +taps+ What about the torpedo tube?
Gygax> +taps+ There's nothing I can do. It's gone.
Hawk> Great. ETA to Orthel VI two hours ten minutes.
A beeping comes from Tage's console.
Tage> The other ship is coming after us. They'll be in weapon range in five
minutes.
Hawk> Increasing to warp 9.
Gygax reaches the bridge and take the helm.
Hawk> It looks like they're calling for help.
Tage> Weapon range in fourteen minutes.
Gygax> Their friend are on the way. Bearing 138.2. Intercept in fifteen
minutes.
Hawk> Damn...OK setting a parallel course. Speed 9.76. That's it.
Gygax> I'm reading a class N planet ahead.
Tage> ::shaking her head:: We're not going to get any help from there.
Gygax> I know, but maybe we can draw them into the atmosphere. We'll have the
advantage there.
Hawk> Good idea. Setting course. ETA 9 minutes.
Tage> Weapon range in 8 minutes.
They look at each other and smile.
Hawk> ::looking at Tage:: You better make every shot count.
Tage> I will.
Gyagx> :: groaning::Good thing this is just a simulation.
The Dytallix has just finished its simulation last week. It has shown
itself to be a fine addition to Everest. Admiral HyRisk has shown some
interest in this ship, and scheduled it for the simulation. The simulation
showed that it has a weakness in its defensive systems. This week we
completed the necessary system upgrades. Lt Mars, Fstlt Soju and I have
installed Obriens shield system and a Type 7 Standard cloaking device. Both
systems are functioning at 100%. The cloak however will put a stain on
the power core, extra auxiliary power generators will be needed to
compensate for the added drain.
