Lt. Cannon Hawke
Chief Intel Officer
Stardate 9910.04
ISS Reciprocity
Cannon Hawke sat in his office, reviewing the latest Intel reports on
various subjects: a serf uprising on Keelung, the inhabitants of Savaga
inventing the "microprocessor," and other unimportant subjects. Hawke
pondered the idea of using his position in Intel to make a fortune in stocks,
but he felt he didn't need the money. Instead, he opened his duty log:
"A large meteor headed towards a small planet in Romulan occupation. Probes
had previous determined that the asteroid was hollow, with a breathable
atmosphere inside. I was summoned by Cmdr. Android to be on the away team to
investigate the matter and change the course of the asteroid.
"First Contact was basically a firefight between us and sentinel robots.
Despite the robot's sophisticated appearance, their aim was the equivalent of
'drunken Klingons' as Rolly put it. Cmdr. Android, however, was unaware of
the danger, and stood in wonder of the new found robots. He required a bit
of physical persuasion.
"After the firefight, we captured a pair of robots and two native children.
As Adam and Koroth interfaced with robots, I interrogated the children with
Mr. Reikson by my side.
"I used normal procedure interrogated the kids. Because their robots fired
on us, I concluded they are hostile. And a hostile people are enemies of the
state, even if temporary. I started by invoking fear, making escape and
resistance more distant. I then asked very simple questions, I don't believe
my tone was demanding or hostile, although some outspokenly disagreed later.
The children responded by crying and calling for their mother, and I
discontinued after pleas from my peers. Apparently, they all though that the
children should be treated differently from adults, with more compassion and
mercy.
"Cmdr. Android ordered me to release the children, after he concluded they
had no information useful to us. I inwardly did not agree with releasing the
children, but did not speak out. However, Adam had already obtained the
needed information, and we were on our way to the asteroid control center.
"We beamed over to the control center with much haste. Cmdr. Android
attempted to change the course of the asteroid, but was disabled by an
"Overseer." As LtJg. Shane Reikson and Sogh Koroth attempted to change the
trajectory of the asteroid, I had my own problems with the robots attacking
the control center. I had the entrance sealed, but even their primitive
lasers could bust the door open.
"Finally, Reikson and Koroth were able to seize control of asteroid, and we
beamed safely back to the Reciprocity."

MISSION BRIEFING
The Reciprocity has finished the unloading of the supplies we were carrying
for Vantar IV and are now enroute to Starbase 382. We should arrive there
very soon, and can deliver the remainder of our supplies at that time. This
will leave us free to return to DS9 and traverse back to the Gamma Quadrant.
Once there we can return to our primary mission of exploration and discovery.

While enroute to SB 382, the Reciprocity picked up a distress call from a
freighter under attack. The freighter had entered the Rukbat Nebula in an
attempt to elude its attackers. The pursuing vessels were ID'd as the
Modified Excelsior class vessel USS Crazy Horse and the Tiger class fighter
USS Firestorm. Both vessels are not listed on active registry but were found
on the Decomissioned Vessel list. The remaining attackers, 4 Federation
runabouts had been reported stolen from a station near the Cardassian border
7 weeks ago.
The Captain scrambled two Black Widow fighters to enter the nebula for recon.
Pilots Hawke and Reikson made contact and reported the attackers stated they
were part of a Fleet Intel task force. This information was determined to be
false and the BW's then engaged the enemy. After a brief but intense battle,
the renegade vessels retreated. The freighter was, by then, in pretty rough
shape. Our new engineer, YoQtIhmeH was dispatched to render aid
in repairing environmental systems and averting a warp core breach. Medical
personnel (Doctors Cha'Riuurran and Knl) were also transported to the
freighter for triage and treatment of their wounded.
The Reciprocity currently stands by at Yellow Alert Status.

Captain St. Cloud was in a generous mood before we engaged the enemy tonight.
Many members of this crew received commendations and awards for their service
and performance of duty. I believe that may be a better system than the one
currently employed by the Klingon Military. It is difficult to replace
warriors who are executed while on duty. The replacements are often
inexperienced and also end up dead. Although the Klingon system of rewards
(staying alive) and punishment (execution) encourages strict attention to
one's duty, it also leads to gaps in crew rosters and I admit that execution
for minor infractions has always sat uneasily with me....perhaps because I am
not a Klingon. I am glad the Captain doesn't subscribe to that practice as
myself and a few others may well have been shot dead for "Icing" him earlier
tonight. The old Terran tradition of "Icing" the Captain of a winning
team (dumping a large container filled with ice water) was remembered by
LtjgEllahandra. How I wish she could have been here to see her idea
implemented!! I can hear her laughter in my mind. ::looks sad for a while::
I hope she returns to us soon.
I wish to congratulate CmdAndroid, SoghKoroth, LtHawke, Ltjg Reikson and Ltjg

them and it is good to see excellence rewarded.
I also wish to welcome Engineer YoQtIhmeH aboard. My your service to the

The Reciprocity was headed for Starbase 382 to restock on supplies, I
believe. En route we had to give leave to our short-termed Chief Engineer,
Mr. HeVak and picked up a new one, Sogh Yokvar son of Daklar.
Also, we picked up a distress call as we passed near the Rukbat Nebula. Mr.
Hawke and I were ordered to determine the situation in two Black Widows. As
we approached we found a captive freighter held in the clutches of an ancient
Excelsior-class Federation type, along with a Tiger-class ship, four
runabouts, and several fightercraft.
The Excelsior crew insisted that they were Starfleet Intel and Hawke asked
for their proper ID codes, to which there was no response. Shortly afterwards
the fighters opened fire and a running dogfight ensued. We managed to destroy
or disable nearly all of the fighters and the Tiger-class ship but the
Excelsior, the runabouts, and the Tiger managed to escape. The freighter was
left in bad shape and I learned afterwards the Excelsior's transponder
code matched the USS Crazy Horse, a ship formerly part of Captain Picard's
taskforce to blockade a Romulan attempt to aid the Klingons in a civil war
years ago. The ship had been reported stolen and it was reasonable to assume
that it was now in the hands of pirates.

Chief Intelligence Officer
Stardate 9910.18
ISS Reciprocity
I was in my office reviewing the latest recon reports when Captain St. Cloud
called me to the bridge. I started on me way immediately, and when I
arrived, Jared was breaking up yet another argument, this time between Koroth
and trRekheil.
When Jared finally calmed down, he asked me for the intel reports on the
sector we were in (somewhere between Vantar 4 and Starbase 382). I thought
more a moment, and then recalled that there was nothing much, except for
various reports of piracy.
Upon saying this, out tactical officer announced that there was an Excelsior
class starship, along with several other support craft, attacking a
freighter. Jared immediately ordered me to take Shane out in the fighters to
investigate.
Down in Fighter Bay One, I suited up as Shane prepared the Conrad and
Boyinton for departure. In no time, we were on our way to the nebula.
Speeding towards the Excelsior, I hailed them asking their business with the
freighter. They promptly responded by saying they were Starfleet Intel, and
to stay out. I didn't recall ever being brief about any Intel operation in
the area, by Section 31, the Tal Shiar, or any other organization. My own
reports were usually quite accurate, and they did not turn up any operations
in the sector.
I responded by asking them their current intel code. All organizations had
some sort of ever changing code to distinguish their intel ships and
non-intel ships; and I was familiar with most of them. The group responded
by going into attack formation.
I accelerated with Shane into the first pass. They (and we) had little
hitting us going head to head, and instead, we pulled a tight turn in hopes
we could catch then at their tails. It didn't exactly turn out that easy,
but though persistence, we were able to send everyone into a hasty retreat.
After the battle, I did a "flyby" over the Reciprocity bridge, as the terran
movie "Top Gun" would have; and then landed back into the Fighter Bay. An AT
was already boarding the freighter to find its secrets.

The Reciprocity is currently enroute back to the gamma quadrant. The crew
had a social gathering last night to celebrate the Terran holiday of
Halloween. This involved disguising oneself to prevent the spirits of the
dead from doing harm to the living. Ancient Terrans believed that on this
night, the veil between the world's of the living and the dead was at it's
thinnest and the dead could cross back over to the land
of the living. Elaborate rituals developed to protect the living.
As time passed, Humans stopped believing they were in danger from the dead on
that particular night and the old religious rituals became social traditions
instead...adults and children alike would dress in costumes. The adults
would then gather for parties and the children would go door to door begging
"Treats". If "treats" were given by the homeowners the children would move
on to the next house. If no treat was recieved the children would
"Trick" the inhabitants. Tricks could be anything the evil children could
think of but traditionally involved the use of chicken eggs and something
called Toilet Paper.
The Arboretum contained a mix of disguised and uniformed crew and it was a
blessing that we did not encounter a hostile situation as Faeries, dogs,
monsters and sneezing yellow beasts would have had difficulty convincing an
opponent to respect our strength.
Personal Log

I am still amused by the disguises some people created for the celebration
tonight. If I had thought that there would be a dog present, I would have
allowed my hound, Conn, to attend. He would have enjoyed the company of
another canine for the evening. Misters Hawke and Reikson had most unusual
disguises. They switched bodies. I must research the technology needed for
that process. Some of the crew attended the early part of the gathering
incognito then switched into uniform later. Others attended as themselves.
All in all it was quite interesting to see what people chose to become for an
evening. ::chuckles quietly and thinks about how really tiny creatures are

Captain Jared St.Cloud
SD 59908.20
Location: Gamma Quadrant
Jared stood next to the tall windows in his ready room. He could feel the
gentle thrum of the ship vibrating up through his boots. A hand resting
against the support next to the edge of the window held him up. Slowly he
took a drink of Antarian Brandy he'd picked up before meeting the ship at
DS9.
~Space... always so quiet and peaceful... there's just nothing else like
it.~
Raised in the rough and tumble neighborhoods of New Dublin on Mars. Jared
had seldom found this kind of quiet. His childhood had been filled with the
sounds of many families that lived in the small Irish community that supplied
labor to the construction yards at Utopia Planetia. His father had worked on
several of the ships that had originated there. His mother had worked in a
little pub that served the workers after they had gotten off. He'd
been one of five children and the second youngest. His childhood had been an
interesting test of ingenuity and toughness as he dealt with having three
older brothers and a younger sister. He however had been the only one that
had made it into the academy.
Behind him, the door sounded it's plaintive call to be answered. Sighing
softly, letting the silence fade for a moment, he turned around. "Open."
The door slid easily open, making almost no sound except for the slight
displacement of the air. In strode the representative of the Cornout
(Core-oot). He stood about six foot four, and his clothing was deep purple,
almost a black. Roughly humanoid, he had four arms that always seemed to
stay in motion. If watched too long they almost started to make one
nauseous. Their head was hairless, much like Jared presumed the rest of
their body was.
At least he'd never seen any hair. Their eyes were almost almond shaped and
were very large. The light reflecting from them tended to shift through the
spectrum like oil does on water. Their hands were small, with eight fingers
and two opposable thumbs. His skin was the color of well shined Jade, and
the universal translator gave them almost a somber accent.
"Hello captain of the ship that has saved us. We are getting near the place
of the meeting. I would urge caution on you, some of our traditions and
customs are very different from your own. And it would be a very great
tragedy if something were to happen."
Jared moved over to the replicator, and motioned towards it. "Is there
anything I can get you ambassador?"
The Cornout shifted his head slightly back, almost in puzzlement.
"Ambassador? What is this?"
Jared tried to be patient while he explained. "An ambassador is someone who
speaks for their people or government."
"Ahhh, I am no ambassador as you call it... he was killed on the ship... I
am... how do you humans say it... a peon... "
Trying very hard not to smile, Jared nodded. "I am much the same. What
would you prefer that I call you then?"
"Jormon will do he who is in charge of the ship who rescued us."
Thinking that the universal translator could use a little work Jared nodded.
"Very well Jormon, you may call me Jared. Is there any refreshments I can
offer you?"
Jormon shook his head no. "I just came to give you the final coordinates of
the meeting place... I have sent a message to my people and they will have a
ship standing by there to transfer us to. Then we will trouble you no more."
"You've been no trouble Jormon, It's been delightful helping your people. I
just wish we could have saved more of them. I'll give the coordinates to my
helmsman, and have him chart the course and proceed there with all do haste."
"Thank you again for all your help captain, my peace be thy journey."
"Peace be thy journey Jormon."
Jared picked up the PADD that the alien had left on his desk and watched as
Joram turned and left the room. It always seemed weird how they could walk
without moving their body at all.
Relaying the information to helm, he sat back down behind his desk. This
would take some thought. There was just something not quite right about these
friendly aliens.

Cha'Sturek sat in the chair of ops. He had just finished patching through
the Reciprocity to the ship whose radiation trail he had just triangulated
from the readings of the long range scanners and the Klingon Ship's
information which he had gotten after he had recieved the transmission from
them and put their Commanding Officer on screen for
Captain Jared to talk to. He had also launched a shuttle with an away team on
it. Sounds like he was swamped with jobs, huh? Well, that's because he had
missed some time on duty. This goes to show you, young Cadets. Do not miss
duty if you can help it. You may regret it. The teacher of the class thanked
the retired Cha'Sturek for coming to talk about the hardships of active duty.

Yesterday was an intersting day. While exploring an uncharted area of the
Gamma Quadrant we were hailed by a Klingon vessel in the area. They showed us
data on an apparent anomaly, a heavily radiated freighter that was moving at
high warp. They were kind enough to admit their lack of resources to
investigate. We helpfully offered to investigate for them and we parted ways.
Not long after, we found the freighter and an away team was formed up.
I had been overseeing minor upkeeping of the ship's systems when I was
called by Cmd. Android to report to Shuttlebay 2. Once I arrived, I donned an
encounter suit to prevent radiation damage when Doctor Rolly arrived with
several canisters and a very odd "assistant" called Ensign Shizo. Soon, we
were able to launch but the radiation around the ship made it hard for the
Reciprocity to keep a transporter lock on us. I devised a plan to inject
micro-subdermal transponders into our bodies so the sensors could lock onto
the homing beacons. The transponders would last for a few hours, long enough
to complete our mission.

The Reciprocity is once again in the Gamma Quadrant. We had not been long
returned when we encountered a Klingon vessel which transmitted the
coordinates of a damaged freighter. We proceeded to the freighter's last
known position and tracked the radiation trail it left. The freighter is
badly damaged and I was assigned to the AT that would board her via shuttle.
The cause of the freighters radiation leak is still unknown. It could be
system malfunction, deliberate sabotage or a problem with inappropriate cargo
contaiment. Ships sensors are unreliable due to the massive amounts of
radiation. The AT will discover the problem and our engineering team will
try to correct it.
Medical personnel are also in attendence to treat radiation poisoning. The
difficulty here is that the race that crews the freighter is unknown to us.
We could inadvertently kill them if their physiology is incompatable with our
medical technology. Rolly has his work cut out for him. Additionally,
there seems to be a crew member suffering from psychosis..etiology unknown.
It was neccesary to medicate him so he could function at minimal levels.
I second the CMO's referral to Ship's Councelor for this Ensign Schizo.
Until Ellahandra's return, he should be placed in stasis. Raving lunatics

It will be a long night for me. Memories and demons from the past walk the

Cmdr. Adam Android, First Officer
Begin Log:
We have returned to the Gamma Quadrant to resume our primary mission of
exploration. While charting an area of space not in the Federation's
databanks, we received a hail from a Klingon vessel on patrol. I feel it
necessary to point out that the Klingons and Romulans have explored portions
of the Gamma Quadrant not accessible to the Federation during the early parts
of the Dominion War. While the Three Empires are attempting to cooperate
with
the Reciprocity, they do not always share all of their accumulated data.
The Klingon ship identified itself as the Bortas-machek. They informed us
of an unusual freighter they had picked up on sensors. It was travelling at
unusually high warp and emitting very high levels of radiation. Since they
did not have the capacity to investigate such a matter, they referred it to
us. We proceeded to the coordinates to investigate.
Anticipating that they may need assistance (the high radiation levels
might be a sign of a problem), the Captain ordered I assemble an Away Team.
We were informed to use Environment Suits (although I, personally, would not
be affected by the radiation, I donned one to prevent possible contamination
of the rest of the crew upon my return to the Reciprocity).
The Away Team consists of myself, Cmdr. Adam Android in command; Arrain
TrRekhiel providing Security; Doctor Cha'Riuurren for necessary Medical
assistance; now Lieutenant Shane Reikson in case the freighter requires
Engineering repairs; and Lieutenant Junior Grade KDaana as our Science
Officer. The Doctor also brought along an assistant, an Ensign Schizo, but
he was required to be sedated while in transit. The Doctor also brought
several
canisters of hyronalin gas to treat the radiation sickness he expects to
find.
Since the freighter is inundated with high radiation, the use of
transporters was ruled out, so we boarded a shuttle and approached the
freighter. There was no obvious shuttle bay, but after a few moments
searching we discovered their cargo bay. Arrain TrRekhiel was very capable
in managing to squeeze our shuttle in through the narrow opening of their
cargo bay doors. A minor dent will need repair and the shuttle will require
some paint upon
our return.
We are preparing to exit the shuttle now.
On another note, Starfleet High Command has assigned us our Fleet
Representative and it is the esteemed Fleet Captain Dante Surak of Outpost
Cousteau. He is a fine officer and I am appreciative of his appointment.

Species infomation: Viridon
File #: 9473-8476-8832
Home system: Viridon System; coordinates: 99 mark 23.5
Type of government: Anarchy
Current leader: N/A
Embassies (To the Alpha Quadrant): None
Viridon System:
Located at the edge of Dominion space and fairly close to the Bajorian
wormhole, it was a princible trading post between the Gamma and Alpha
Quadrant.
The system itself contains six planets. The first is barren and
uninhabitable, but contain an abundance to minerals and ores. Because
tempeture reach 400 degrees in daytime, mining operations only occur during
the night by protected personel. The second planet is the home planet of the
Viridons, and has been historically ruled by the Dominion. Hot, lush and
green, it majority of the planet resembles the Amazon forest of Earth.
Strangely enough,
the Viridons only live in the cooler, rocky northern half of the planet;
leaving the southern hemesphere to Dominion military and trade operations.
The third and fourth planets place themselves quite far away the first two,
and are enormous gas giants. The third has a beautiful red, yellow, and
orange color; and combined with its purplish color rings makes it one of the
most beautiful planets in the Gamma Quadrant. The fifth and sixth planets
are
small and barren, probably escaped moons of the Viridon IV and V. The
Dominion built a starbase around the sixth one, but is now since abandoned
since the war.
Technologically and militaristically, they are equal of the Dominion because
abandoned equiment they left over. However, further advances have been
halted due to the frequent attacks and political anarchy.
Recent History:
Until very recently, the Viridon System had been a Dominion province for the
last 150 years. The Dominion withdrew from the planet after the war due to a
rebellion and to cut loses to the already weakened military.
After the withdraw of Dominion forces, several other freed systems have
repeated attacked and raided the Viridons in attempt claim their abundant
resources. Due to this, the Viridons have yet to establish a government, and
the second planet is in chaos from frequent bombardments and landings.
Physical Descrition:
The Viridons have a very thick brow and unusually large nose for their size,
creating an image of an "ugly S.O.B." and a thugish, cannibalistic image.
But their body frame is thin and adapted for rocky mountains and tree
climbing. The result is something that looks like a cross between a baboon
with a hairless chimp body that is 7' tall full grown. General personality
is, however, docile and quiet, and the Viridons have been historically
peaceful and non-aggresive.
Note from the CIO:
"Viridons are deeply religious and spiritual. Polytheistic, their gods are
similar to the native American beliefs of Earth. Viridon cities take a
patron god, and each practice different holidays and days of rest. Once each
year, usually during the spring, elders from each major city and town, gather
and pay tribute to a 'king god,' not worshiped by any city."

the two Romulan Scout Craft. They're sensitive, fast, and cloakable. Each
ship will be assigned a hemisphere to patrol, the ventral and dorsal halves
of the Reci as the boundaries.

Shuttle Schedules
• For the repair work we will be working on a four-shift rotation with each
shift lasting 6 hours. We have four Romulan Shuttles to ferry repair crews to
and fro and about ten Work-Bees. We're giving Operations the loan of the two
remaining Shuttles, the four Danube-runabouts, and the Sun Tzu-runabout for
cargo transfer purposes. Because of time constraints, most ships will be
reused for each shift with just a change of pilots.

Note: All ships passing from the freighter to the Reci are confined to speeds
of 1/2 to 3/7 impulse. Traffic Between ships will be in a circuit. From the
Reci to the freighter traffic is near the bow. From the freighter to the Reci
will be aft. Imagine a line down the midpoints of both ships. Do not cross
the line or else. Or else what? Exactly.

We have boarded the freighter, Fometon, and are currently treating
casualties caused by exposure to intense radiation levels. Upon initially
boarding the vessel, the medical staff immediately flooded the decks with
Hyronalin gas, which had been brought aboard with some difficulty as it was
impossible to use transporters. This was sufficient to stabilize those of the
freighter's crew who were least affected. 31 crewmen suffered severe
radiation burns and required more intensive treatment. The medical staff have
been busy operating on those cases, as well as bringing aboard additional
medical and food supplies for freighter crewmen suffering from severe
malnutrition. It looks like the Fometon will need to spend an extended stay
at DS9.

We certainly have had a lot of radiation sickness cases since the
Reciprocity began its tour of duty. Fortunately, we haven't had any radiation
fatalities thus far, but this freighter's crew may provide us with our first;
there are some very severe burn cases here, and many of the crew are on the
verge of starvation as well, a lethal combination, as resistance to infection
is drastically lowered by both factors. At least it appears that the
disaster of several weeks ago, when the crew of the ship we boarded suffered
over 100 fatalities, will not be repeated here.

I was called away from the bridge at the start of my shift by a medical

was able to review the data logs from the Reciprocity's rescue mission.
Currently the Science department is analyzing all acquired data. Working in
conjunction with other departments, we are increasing our database relative
to Viridon anatomy, physiology, technology and social strata.
In addition, we have compared the weapons signatures found on the escape pods
and vessel debris with those found on the badly damaged freighter we recently
encountered. As suspected, the signatures match but we have no record of the
race that uses weapons producing this particular signature. I am heading to
SB to interview survivors but I have serious doubts as to how helpful they
will be. My initial information is that females are extremely
sheltered in this race. They are not included in decision making and
information of a military or defensive nature is considered too difficult for
them to understand. It is my hope that they (the female survivors) have
overheard the males discuss these topics and may have information they do not
fully understand but would be of assistance to us in discovering who attacked
them and the attackers strategic abilities.
It is obvious from the cowardly attacks on some escape pods that this race is
without honor. To fire on helpless, weaponless females and children implies
that a program of genocide may well be in effect.

Captain Jared Liam St.Cloud
Commander ISS Reciprocity
SD: 59911.15
Location: Gamma Quadrant
Jared stood facing the portal in his ready room, his eyes not really seeing
the stars as they slowly streamed by. In the background the soft sounds of
an ancient blues player filled the empty room at his back. There were
getting deeper into the Gamma Quadrant. Farther away from the safety and
support of the Federation. Soon they would be cloaking, and would not
uncloak unless an emergency presented it's self. He didn't like the reports
he was
getting from Intelligence. There was still nothing on these "Dark ones" and
that troubled him. He didn't like facing an enemy he could neither see, nor
stop. It galled him to think that they were heading straight for the
Federation, and might even have passed him by. The Romulan's, Klingon's, and
Federation weren't the only races with cloaking devices. Many of the races
in the Gamma Quadrant had them too. It would be very easy for them to just
drop out of warp, dampen their em signitures and cloak, letting the
reciprocity fly right by.
Turning back to his desk, he picked up the last three PADDs, he had to deal
with before he'd be done and could go down to the Crankshaft for a drink.
The first was a request for replacement parts and upgrades for the Fighters.
They were running constant patrols currently when not in Warp, and the wear
was starting to tell on the ships. The second was a report on supplies and
such, and what the current mission duration would be before the need to
pick up more supplies. The third was an evaluation and recommendation for a
promotion.
Looking carefully over the third PADD, he made a note to consult Adam about
this member's participation, and abilities. From what he'd seen there
shouldn't be a problem, but Jared didn't work as closely with the crew as
Adam did. So he tended to rely heavily on Adam's opinion of the crew and
their performance. In addition to that there was the fact that he could be
completely analytical on those matters, and not play favorites.
Jared put away the PADDs, and stretched. A drink would do him good…

Mission Briefing
ISS Reciprocity
SD: 59911.16
Location: In Warp heading towards the Kinloo star system
Status: Black (cloaked, and rigged for silent running)
After picking up the survivors of the attack on the Viridons, we are tracing
their path back the way they came. It leads straight to the Kinloo star
system. Although the Viridons say they did not come from that system, and
there's nothing there. I want everyone to keep on their toes. We are
currently cloaked and will stay that way baring a system malfunction.
Everyone will report to their assigned posts as we enter the system.
Remember what
ever destroyed the Viridon vessal, and damaged the other is still out there.
It would take far too long to call back the two Galaxy class vessals, so we
will be keeping the refugees with us for the moment. Upon reaching the
system, we will be uncloaking and dropping a full fighter screen. With the
increase of people on the ship, we will need to keep an eye out for a way to
replenish our supplies. We will be doing a full survey of the system,
before moving on. I would like suggestions on ways to locate any cloaked
ships.

Cmdr. Adam Android
First Officer, ISS Reciprocity
Adam sat in the command chair on the bridge. The dimmed lighting of Gamma
Shift barely illuminated the bridge. Even if it had been Alpha Shift the
lights would be dimmed and all non-essential monitors and consoles would be
off. They were Condition Black, cloaked and damped.
Adam had decided he would not leave the bridge unless an emergency
occurred. He had no need for either food or rest, nor did he need exercise
or recreation. He would remain vigilant at his post until the situation with
the Dark Ones was resolved.
Captain Jared had told him there was no need for him to do this, but the
expression on his face belied the relief he felt at having a First Officer
capable of manning the bridge around the clock.
Chief of Flight Operations, Lieutenant Shane Reikson, had put in a
requisition for Engineering Construction Crews to assemble an additional
complement of fighter craft and reconnaissance shuttles and Adam had approved
it. But it did put a strain on their raw materials and other supplies. Adam
hoped this Kinloo system would have the necessary resources. He also hoped
that any inhabitants of the system were either capable of rational
negotiation,
or were sufficiently less technologically advanced to permit the Reciprocity
to take on the supplies they needed and move on without alerting them to
their presence.
Adam noted that the gravitational anomoly of the second Gas Giant, Kinloo
VI, warranted some investigation, but the report from Stellar Cartography
about possible habitation of the second planet would require investigation
first. It would not do to go nosing in on someone else's system without
checking with them first.
And while the reports from the Viridon Freighter that passed through the
Kinloo system indicate that "there's nothing there", Adam was not so sure.
It was best to be prepared.

Jared sat in his chair on the bridge of the Warbird Reciprocity. Lost in
thought, he watched with only part of his mind as his crew ran through their
usual duties. ~An excellent crew. If I can keep their problems from
effecting the performance of their duties, they could easily be the best crew
in the fleet.~ Chuckling softly to himself at the idea of being the best of
their fleet of one, he pulled up their current mission profile on his screen.
Knowing the information by heart already, he read it once more. They were
going to study the gravity around the twin stars, while an away team examined
a nearby planet to see what effect the twin suns had had on it's development.
Work on the Subspace Relay station was progressing and after they were done
here, they would be going on to the edge of the officially explored space.
Leaving a relay there, would keep them in touch with the Federation
and make it easier for any ships following them to communicate and keep in
touch.
He nodded to the words of the Helm officer, they would be arriving in two
hours at the system. He couldn't wait to move on, to get past the edge... to
be the first of the Federation to delve into the deepest mysteries of the
Gamma Quadrant. Soon, very soon, they would make history.

Ever since the casualties from the first freighter had been brought aboard,
The Reciprocity's medical bays had been scences of desperate, chaotic action.
Doctors worked round-the-clock shifts struggling to stabilize the conditions
of scores of severe burn and radiation poisoning victims. Additionally, many
of the new Viridian patients suffered from exposure to extreme temperatures
and
from severe malnutrition.
By the end of the first week, all but the most severe cases had been
stabilized. In med bay 1, Drs. "Rolly" Cha'Riurren, "Hawkeye" Pierce, "Patch"
Adams, Kor Sogh, Welby and Kildare were busy treating severe radiation burn
cases when the terrible news came: another crippled Viridian ship had been
discovered, with numerous casualties. Morale in the medical bays dropped
instantly: many of the doctors and nurses had been working round the clock
for one
or two days.
With this pervasive climate of gloom and desperation, Rolly knew he had to
do something fast. He called Lt. Ronald McDonald in food service and told him
to bring Quarter Kilo burgers for everyone. "Don't forget the toy surprises
in the Smily Meals this time, or we'll have a mutiny on our hands,
McDonald!", Rolly said. "And don't forget the Supersize Bag o' Gagh for Lt.
Kor.....yes, and Dr. Quack in Medbay 2 says he wants a snail juice shake."
McDonald cheerfully took the food orders, so cheerfully that Rolly and half
the other doctors wanted to throttle him. "Well", Rolly observed, "at least
nobody will starve this time." Then Rolly called the commisary and made a
special request: at the end of their shifts, each doctor would receive a
triple alcohol ration of their choice. Even though the regulation stuff was
hopelessly watered down, the morale of the doctors in the med bay rose
visibly
when Rolly made the announcement.
As the next batch of hapless victims poured in, the tempo picked up again.
Rolly and Nurse Paine got to work on a vomiting radiation patient. Kor Sogh
worked to raise the body temperature of a freezing Viridian. Suddenly,
McDonald walked in, a sheepish look on his face. "What...is....it?", Rolly
cautiously asked, aware that the medbay was a powderkeg waiting to go off.
"Er", began McDonald, "Uh....Ens. Kinko says the replicators are off line,
so
there's no toy surprises with the smily meals...and our last supply of fresh
gagh all got sick and died...the snail juice blender's on the fritz....oh
yeah, and somebody forgot to hold the onions on your Quarter Kilo burger,
Rolly, and......" The doctors and nurses, some still holding autosutures,
formed a tight ring around the clown from food services and started closing
in.....

The Reciprocity has discovered that a cloaked city exists in the middle of
the gravity anomaly around the 5th planet (a gas giant) of the Kinloo system.
We also discovered that there is intelligent life on the second planet. This
planetary culture is currently at a low tech level of development and will be
subject to the dictates of the Prime Directive and First Contact protocols.
It is hoped that we can obtain the supplies we need without the indigenous
people ever being aware of our presence. We had planned to enter synchronous
orbit around the second planet and remain there, cloaked, during
stocking and repairs but the discovery of the sky-city over the 5th planet
caused a change in plans. Our Recon shuttles have been recalled and all
departments are working double shifts to evaluate the city and it's
inhabitants. Have we stumbled onto the home of the Dark Ones? Is there a
threat to our home space from these beings?
The Science department has been studying sensor and shuttle scan data in the
hopes of discovering something in their cloaking technology that we can
utilize to track their vessels. So far, the theory that they leave an
unusual type of radioactive trail has been promising. Further reports will
be submitted to the Chief of Science and the XO as they become available.

Duty Log
One week after we had encountered the Viridon freighter, repairs to it were
still underway as we waited for the pair of Galaxy-class starships to arrive.
We had deployed a fighter squad as escorts for the shuttles and workbees
ferrying the engineers. We also sent out the Advanced Romulan Scoutships to
supplement our detection network. Another pair of fighters was sent back
along the path the freighter had been travelling before we found them.
We have yet to hear from them.
Anyhow, the scoutships discovered a massive cluster of metallic objects.
These turned out to be almost countless escape pods. They were Viridon escape
pods. A life-form scan turned up multiple pods filled primarily with juvenile
and female members of the species, a majority of the other pods had been
hulled with weapons-fire.
Much of the resources directed towards repairing the freighter were diverted
towards assisting the Reci in recovering the escape pods. Another fighter
that was sent to trace the path of the pods discovered a, "Really *Huge*
Wreck," of a ship.

Duty Log
The Reciprocity had arrived in the Kinloo system under Black Status
Condition: full stealth capabilities. This is where we'd backtracked the path
of the Viridon ship destroyed last week. Although survivors claimed there was
nothing of any value in that system, we decided to investigate any
possibilites for evidence of the "Dark Ones."
Upon arrival, some of the crew was already high-strung with paranoia as it
was revealed that the Dark Ones may have posessed advanced
cloaking-technology and may even have been pacing us at that moment. We sent
out a trio of scoutships to investigate the system and the second planet
revealed a small planet, inhabited by low-tech species. We were prepared for
a supply run when a large oddity caught our sensor's focusing eye.
The fifth planet, a large gas giant had unusual gravometric readings for a
planet of its size. All the recon-ships were directed towards the anomaly
where they began a series of subspace, tachyon, and polaron scans to discover
the problem. Even more shocking was a stable gravity well in the center of
the giant, so the ships closed in for better readings.
Hidden within the gas giant's atmosphere was a massive alien complex, fully
cloaked and appearing to be fully functional. We had no indication the
station, the "city" had picked us up on sensors yet, but we weren't taking
any precautions. Could these be the "Dark Ones," or at least one of their
outposts?

Duty Log, Stardate 59911.20
Commander Adam Android
First Officer
Begin Log:
We entered the Kinloo Star System under Condition Black, cloaked and
damped. We intended merely to survey the system and analyze it's ability to
be a supply port. What we discovered both intrigues and alarms me.
The second planet has all of the required resources we were seeking.
While it is primarily ocean, there are a few continents which provide ample
materials. However, it is home to an indigenous species of intelligent
humanoids whose technology rating is roughly equal to Earth's "Middle Ages".
They have permanent villages, some even qualify as small towns, but no signs
of any advanced technology beyond simple metallurgy. I have placed them
under
the protection of Prime Directive Protocols. If we are able to harvest any
of our required resources from their planet it must be in a manner not to
interfere with their development.
But hidden in the atmosphere of the fifth planet, the second gas giant in
this system, within a gravimetric anomaly, was a floating city, fully
cloaked! We would not have detected it at all except that Mr. Reikson's
Reconnaisance Teams flew within very close proximity to it while performing
their scans. Add to that all of the different types of scans they were
performing: subspace scans, tachyon scans, polaron scans, not to mention
KDaana's
passive scanning from our interplanetary orbit.
Once we'd detected the cloaked city I recalled all ships. I don't know if
they detected our presence. I have no way to know. To this point they have
made no move to indicate they are aware of us.
What alarms me is that we had no idea there was an entire city hidden
within that gas giant. The stories told by the Viridon about the Dark Ones'
ability to simply appear out of nowhere, a feature of their advanced cloaking
technology, have me wondering about our tactical position. If the Dark Ones
were to suddenly decloak a fleet of warships we would be caught completely
unawares. And who is to say they have not overcome the limitation of
firing while cloaked? They may not even need to show themselves at all!

Scandals Are Forever
Part 1
Joint Story: Cannon Hawke and Shane Reikson
Cannon Hawke sat at his office, awaiting the weekly message from SFI. At
presisly 2230 hours a call came through, Hawke put the message through, and
the familiar image of Admiral Hyrisk came up.
"Good evening, Admiral," Hawke greeted.
"Hawke," Hyrisk narrowed his eyes. "I've just recieved a disturbing report.
We have word that Federation President Cill Binton may be the target for an
assassination attempt," said Hyrisk.
Hawke raised an eyebrow ever so slightly, "Continue."
"About two days ago an unknown person sent a message to Paris. They stated
that actions would be taken against the president, for purposes unknown as
yet to us, and that a move would be made within the week. We want you to
travel back to Earth, the president is scheduled for a press conference soon
in about four days."
"They didn't state any motive?" Cannon asked.
"Not so far," came the reply from the admiral.
"Can we count on you, Hawke?" asked Hyrisk
"You do understand, Admiral," Hawke said, "This is very vague.
For me to travel back to Earth and investigate a treating note?"
Hyrisk glanced off the screen briefly and then turned back to face
Hawke..."We have reliable sources.." he gulped slighty, "and we believe its
accurate."
"One weeks. If nothing happens in one weeks, I'm going back," answered
Hawke. He frowned. It could be a nasty Federation ploy to get him out of the
Gamma Quadrant, but if the infomation was accurate as he said...
"It's no ploy," Hyrisk said abruptly "this is the real thing."
Hyrisk glanced off the screen again, "I'm afraid I have other business to
attend to, I can't say anymore," he said abruptly. He terminated
communications before Hawke could say anything further.
Hawke rubbed his chin and thought for a moment, then tapped his combadge,
"Shane Reikson, please report to my office."
Shane was working in the flight operations office when thecall came he
glanced down at the padd-work before him and sighed in disgust, "Coming,
sir," he scooped up a few of the padds and walked towards the turbolift,
grabbing another padd as he left a few minutes later, he stepped into Hawke's
office, "What now?"
"What now? You may now be of equal rank with me, but you still don't
address me to 'What now,'" Cannon said, obviously agitated. He was surprised
how quickly his apprentice had become so arrogant.
"...Sir," Shane added, "is this an internal ship matter," his voice changed
slightly, "or a *special* matter?"
"Admiral Hyrisk justed called," Hawke said, "It seems President Cill Binton
is in some trouble, and Section 31 wants me to investigate."
Reikson was silent.
"Well, it doesn't seem like a wholly important case, most likely a bad joke,
so I'm going to let you handle it," Hawke went on, "Unfortunatly, I cannot
place you in charge when Hyrisk just asked me to handle it. So, I must
unfortunately come along and pretend I'm in charge of the investigation."
"Are you prepared?"
"I'm ready for anything as training has charged me with."
"Training can only prepare you for so much," Hawke stated sternly, then
grinned, "So, when do we leave?"
Shane held up a padd, "I can arrange a 'shuttle test' within five minutes
for about a week."
"Excellent," Hawke glanced at his watch, then stood and started walking for
the door, "I'll be there at 2300 hours. Pack light."

T'Kern looked around Sickbay, getting reoriented with it. She checked all
the cabinets to make certain that everything was in its place. She found a
few things out of order, and quickly put them in place. Everything must be
perfect. If everything is not perfect, then T'Kern cannot sleep. And she
had been a bit grouchy lately. Logic dictates that Vulcans who are grouchy
are not getting their required amount of
sleep. (Of course, the idea that a grouchy Vulcan, in and of itself, defies
the dictates of logic skirted her thoughts completely.)
When T'Kern finished with the cabinets, she noted that she was again feeling
amorous. This was the second time she had this feeling in a week. She went
to the computer to see if she could find a suitable male Vulcan in the
records. Perhaps she was experiencing Ponn Farr. It certainly felt like it.
T'Kern found no Vulcan males with Bios posted, but she did note someone who
could help her fix her small problem: that sharp-looking android.
T'Kern left Sickbay, repeating over and over: "Android ... Adam Android".
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
T'Kern, finally spying the object of her affections, grabbed the android and
looked him square in the eyes. "Lose the mustache, and I'll love you
forever!" she promised with a wide smile.
[Return to Archives | Return to Listing ]
T'Kern looked around Sickbay. She really had not meant to make such a mess
of things. She wondered what was taking place to make her act so strangely.
If she didn't know better, she herself would swear that she was human. These
unwelcome feelings started the last time she went to the holodeck. Perhaps
if she could find out what took place, she could make things as they were
before.
However, duty always stands before personal matters. T'Kern put the
hypospray back where it belonged, cleaned up the rest of the mess that
ensued, and sent her apologies to her fellow crewmates, who had also passed
out.
<<nrpc: for those of you who missed Saturday nights Sim, I am aware that the
Sim Log that was sent out was cut short. But this is the best I can do from

When T'Kern was finished cleaning up Sickbay, she went to the Holodeck.
"T'Kern, logging in: Computer, please run a diagnostic of what took place the
last time I ran a program."
"The last time Ensign T'Kern ran a program, she left the holodeck set to the
standards of a higher ranking officer. She said to log it as her
responsibility."
"Computer, what were those standards?"
"The standards set were that the safety protocols were set on 'lethal'."
T'Kern sighed. Now she understood. Some lamebrain above her turned off the
Safety Protocols, and now she had prolactin running through her system like
wildfire. She was experiencing what the humans refer to as 'PMS'.
"Computer, please restore Safety Protocols to the Holodeck"
"Safety protocols cannot be set. Need authorization from previous higher
ranking officer."
"Computer, please name said higher ranking officer."
"Lieutenant Junior Grade Cha'Sturek reset holodeck protocols during his
Calisthenics exercise program."
Suddenly, an evil grin started to creep across T'Kern's face. So Sturek was
behind this! "Computer, please locate Lieutenant Junior Grade Cha'Sturek."
"Lieutenant Junior Grade Cha'Sturek is in his quarters."
T'Kern left the Holodeck and went back to her quarters. She took off her
uniform and changed into a pair of Spandex pants and a halter top, that one
of her human friends had given her as a "joke". Up until now, she failed to
see the humor in giving someone a gift so impractical. T'Kern smiled when
she thought how she was going to use it now. T'Kern went to the Replicator.
"Replicator: Lipstick, red. Face blush, beige. Eyeliner, sky-blue.
Mascara, black."
T'Kern glanced at her "new look" before she left, and proceeded to Sturek's
quarters.

mysterious cloaked city was to run a scan of the wall, which showed up
negative of any known substances, which was very
interesting. I got the feeling that the alien leader, Beldar, was stalling

The crew of the Reciprocity had just gone through a holodeck training
simulation in which a shuttle containing a number of crew members crashed on
an ice planet and was buried deep under tons of snow. System failures left
them with minimal life support and unable to navigate should they be able to
free the shuttle. Additionally, the comm system was out and calling for
assistance was not an option. Some crew members, myself included, were
injured
in the crash. My memories are blurred but what I do remember is unsettling
at best.
The second officer, LtVSelenir, was in charge and he spearheaded the plan to
free ourselves. He and Rolly went outside the shuttle and began drilling
through the layers of ice and snow in the hopes of opening a small passage to
the surface through which we could escape or send a distress call. The crew
remaining inside were to get the comm system repaired. Rolly soon had to be
brought back inside due to hypothermia. Enir remained outside drilling
until he broke through. By then, he was acting oddly and attacked Hawke when
Hawke and I went to assist him. He kept looking at me and calling me
"Angel". As I am no Angel, I can only assume the cold had affected his mind.
Hawke was able to subdue Enir with the assistance of the cold...which caused
Enir's bones to become brittle and break easily.
Soon after returning to the shuttle the entire AT was returned to Reciprocity
by emergency beam out. The comm system was repaired enough to be able to
send weak signals and to pick up the Reciprocity's response.

The Reciprocity meets Saturdays at 12:00 AM Eastern in Synchronous Orbit
Mission
Briefing
This week on the ISS Reciprocity will undergo a series of battle drills. For
these drills they will be pitted against the 7th Calvary Attack Frigate
Squadron. < The 7th Calvary Attack Frigate Squadron >
The USS Badlands, with Fleet Captain Dante Aristotle Surak onboard will serve
as the coordinating vessels.
Standard battle simulation protocols will be in effect. All departments
should be prepared to fully simulate all elements of ship to ship combat.
These elements include, but are not limited too; crew casualties, internal
damage, power distribution problems, evacuations to life pods or
environmental shelters, intruder alerts, star fighter tactics, standard ship
to ship tactics, and planetary landings.

Events have suddenly taken a strange turn. Both Cpt. St. Cloud and Cmdr.
Android have been summoned by Starfleet Command for reasons that have been
described merely as "classified". In their absence, I have been appointed CO
of the Reciprocity. I am leaving medical bay in the capable hands of Dr.
T'Kern during this time. During the absence of our CO and XO, the
Reciprocity's crew will be engaged in a series of combat drills. Our
opponents will be the 7th Cavalry, a squadron of antiquated Soyuz class
vessels brought out of mothballs during the Dominion War.
The Reciprocity has both major advantages and disadvantages in this
scenario. Our proud ship is larger than any Federation vessel, and armed with
a mighty array of disrupters, plasma torpedos and starfighters. Not the least
of our advantages is a Hyperion cloaking device, which will allow us to get
the first shot at our rivals. Yes, the Reci truly demonstrates the
superiority of Romulan technology, heheh. As for our crew, our polyglot
mixture
of denizens from all three Empires of the Alliance has attained an efficient,
though not frictionless, level of cooperation, all factors considered.
Now, for our disadvantages: the puny Soyuz craft of the enemy, er, the
Federation, heheh, have been refitted with Defiant class deflector shields
and powerful weapons arrays. Individually, the Reci could surely swat any of
these pesky space mosquitos, but we will be facing seven at once. Therefore,
we will rely on all the dirty tricks our crew can devise in order to ensure
victory, heheh......we have not yet begun to cheat....this will be fun....

ISS Reciprocity
The Reciprocity is currently en route to the nearby system of McGowan to
conduct combat drills with "Great Whites." Leading them, is Fleet Captain
Surak, a predominate figure in the Beta Quadrant.
Tactical abilities and maneuvers of the Reciprocity are to be tested, and to
survey her weapon systems. Engineering reports all systems are up to par,
and we will put our trust in them for the upcoming drills.
The McGowan system is fairly large. The planets orbits a type-K yellow
star, approximately 74,048,235,000 miles in diameter with the gravitational
pull of 4748.23. The system sports eleven planets, six of them gas giants.
Because the Reciprocity is more than able to handle Soyoz-class frigates in
a 2:1 situation, our main objective will be to "divide and conquer." Their
combined fleet is more than a match against the single Reciprocity. To
achieve the desired effect, fighters will be deployed to keep the bulk of the
7th Cavalry separated; and to protect the Reci's rear and flank. We expect
to take full advantage of the planets. In addition, we are to try out
several new maneuvers not previously rehearsed:
Sabre Dancing: This is the process of maneuvering to stay at medium range for
several turns to wear down your opponents shields -- known originally as a
Klingon tactic. You approach the enemy by angling towards him, then firing
when he is off your side shield and turning away. Then you can loop around
and repeat this -- this is also known as the `"lazy S'' for the curving
approach... Clearly if the enemy's weapons are more short-ranged this gains
an advantage. It is also useful if your opponent is holding overloads -- he
cannot fire them unless he gets within range.
Aborted Sabre Dance: An important corollary to the sabre dance is the point
when the ship stops "dancing'' and dives in towards the enemy. If the enemy
fires a significant portion of his weapons, the sabre-dancer may swoop in to
catch him on the reload turn.
Plasma Ballet: This is the tactic of firing one plasma torpedo (often an
enveloping one) from medium range, and then turning away. This forces the
opponent to make a choice: in order to chase, the enemy will have to chew his
way through the torpedo. Like the sabre dance, this slowly wears the
opponent down.
Tactical and helm should properly coordinate these maneuvers; and I expect
these new tactics will be very effective against the 7th Cavalry.

"... The Seventh Calvary Attack Frigate Squadron has just made contact with
the ISS Reciprocity. The battle drills will begin in roughly 1.5 hours. The
USS Badlands, has begun transmitting the simulation computer protocols. When
all ships have the protocols running, the Badlands, will be able to score the
drill as well as transmit control codes, which will set off certain simulated
damage programs on all combatants, as appropriate.
I am looking forward to seeing both the Reciprocity and the Seventh
Calvary in action. Both are formidable forces. On one side is a mighty
behemoth, heavily armed, with the ability to launch several smaller attack
craft. On the other are a collection of 6 more lightly armed ships, with a
much greater maneuverability factor. The confrontation of firepower vs.
maneuverability will be most interesting... "

After heading to the Reciprocity's main lounge for his ale ration, Rolly
went to the holodeck and ran several mock tactical ship-to-ship scenarios
involving various combinations of Federation craft. He didn't want to
disappoint the Praetor and the Empire during the upcoming drill, and his
tactical skills were a bit rusty, since his main duties had been as a medical
officer. Still, he relished
the idea of showing off what the massive warbird and it's unique crew could
accomplish against more conventional forces.
After the holodeck practice, Rolly headed off to his quarters to write up a
memo to the crew. Although lacking none of the typical Romulan arrogance, and
supremely confident in the Reci's attack and defense capabilities, Rolly also
had the Romulan fondness for what Terrans unkindly called "dirty tricks". He
was certain he could draw upon the collective wisdom of the Reci's extremely
diverse crew for some entertainingly unorthodox tactics for
throwing the 7th Cav. off balance. He grinned evilly as he pondered his own
ideas on that theme.....

Dr. TKern notes that the ISS Reciprocity will be engaging in battle drills
with another ship 7th Cav. Attack Frigate Squadron. She also notes that her
Superior, Dr. Rolly, is in favor of any "dirty tricks", ie: creative
maneuvers, since their ship would be greatly outnumbered. TKern may be new
to these things called emotions, but her brain still functions properly. She
will do her job, and do it well.
TKern prepares Sickbay for any newcomers. She makes certain that a triple
amount of normal supplies is at the ready. Then she mixes some medicines,
creating a hypospray that increases creativity in the brain by 100 percent.
She repeats this process over and over, until she has at least one hypospray
for every member of the Reci crew.

Saturday 12 midnight Eastern
(acting 2O) LtJG KDaana reporting
The Reciprocity, under temporary Command of Dr. Fveirrolh Cha'Riuurren with
acting XO, Lt Cannon Hawke proceeded to the rendezvous point where she joined
up for battle drills with the 7th Calvary Attack Frigate Squadron commanded
by CdrShade. Fleet Captain Dante Surak was co-ordinator for the war games.
The drills proceeded as planned and both sides showed ingenuity and admirable
skills in the arts of battle. The Reciprocity launched her "Black Widow"
fighter squadrons to engage the 7th Calvary fighters while the Reciprocity
herself, took on the larger vessels and at the same time defender herself
from the enemy fighters that managed to elude the Black Widows.
The fierce battle raged on with both sides inflicting damage on the other
until the Mocba sent out a transmission with the "abort battle drill" code.
The Mocba had suffered a systems failure and was unable to correct it. Her
crew was evac'd to life pods and she soon crash landed on a nearby moon. The
7th Calvary and the Reciprocity crews worked swiftly and efficiently to
rescue the survivors and together managed to save most of them. Sadly, a
few were lost when the vulnerable escape pods were barraged by debris from
the Mocba's crash landing and subsequent explosion on the moon's surface.
All crew performed admirably, both in the games and during the rescue .
The acting CO and XO exceeded expectations and brought honor to this vessel!

Duty Log: Supplemental
Lt. Cannon Hawke
Chief Intel Officer
Stardate 10001.15
ISS Reciprocity
Tactical Overview: Soyez-Class Attack Frigates
The 7th Cavalry is a fleet of eight (8) frigates of the older Soyez-class,
but modified and refitted to be a deadly match. They are relatively small
compared to the Reciprocity, but their maneuverability and speed has the
potential to counter. As with all battles, real or simulated, we will do our
best to capitalized on their weaknesses, and limit their strengthes.
The modified Soyez-class frigates in which we are to wage with are
considered lightly armed. However, the truth is quite the opposite. Their
armaments include 4 type X phaser banks, 18 type VII phaser banks, and 4
torpedo launchers. The total is 26 sources of offensive weaponry. Compared
to the Reciprocity 12 Disruptor banks and 13 plasma torpedo launchers (making
it a total of 25 sources of offensive weaponry), the matchup is rather
simular.
From a tactical viewpoint, we will try to take advantage of our rear facing
weaponry when making a pass at the opponent. The Soyezs' do not have such
capibilities, and therefore making flanking offensives extremely effective.
Also, because the 7th Calavry's weapon range is shorter, and beam power
lower, even if we are "ganged up on," we will fare well.
The fighters will play the role of "dividing." We will use them to force
the 7th Cavalry spread out as much as possible, making the Reci able to match
up one-on-one or two-on-one. The fighters' speed and manuverability will
play a key role in our upcoming victory.

ISS Reciprocity
The battle drills with the 7th Calvary proceeded with the utmost intensity
and realism. The Reciprocity's diverse crew was able to work well together
against the stiffest of odds, and emerge victorious against the opponent.
At the start of the drill, we were contacted briefly by the group commander,
Fleet Captain Dante Surak, receiving instructions and such. So with that
done and taken care of, we promptly started. First, we launched our fighter
squadron, with LtJg. Cha'Sturek coordinating the attack. Their orders were
to do their best to separate the 7th, and therefore giving the Reci the
advantage singling out the Soyez frigates.
Upon launching the fighters, the Reciprocity cloaked and moved towards the
7th's starboard flank. It was decided that we would run the "Sabre Dance"
routine, taking advantage of the Soyezs' shorter ranged weapons. Lt. Shane
Reikson played his part skillfully in maneuvering the complex maneuver.
However, the 7th Calvary commander realized the trick, and countered.
Despite the fighters, the 7th swooped in and gave the Reci a heavy barrage.
I
considered the threat, and ordered an "Aborted Sabre Dance." The Romulan
behemoth dove towards the enemy, and we managed to catch them as they were
reloading. But instead of running a "S" formation for another run, we dashed
for a nearby asteroid field and its type-J planet closeby. I tried to take
full advantage of our rear facing weapons, but the pursuing frigates were
able to easily dodge most torpedoes.
The Reciprocity rounded the gas giant; and being directly behind the planet,
made her invisible to sensors. As we were coordinating another maneuver to
catch the 7th off guard, engineering reported heavy damage and
maneuverability would have to be compromised by 50%. A setback, to say the
least, but the valiant crew and their ship managed.
Soon after, the USS Mocba transmitted a distress call stating that something
had gone wrong. Their warp core had to be ejected, and the Mocba was soon
caught in the gravitational pull of the system's third planet. The Klingons
were outspoken in finishing off the Mocba, calling the distress call a hoax
and "Federation trick," but the order was given to help out the escape pods.
After the Mocba crashed into McGowan III, a dense asteroid field came
hurling towards the Reciprocity and 7th Calvary. This would normally not
cause a problem, but the escape pods still floated helplessly in space. The
Reciprocity and her shuttles were pressed into real action to recover as many
of the pods as possible. Unfortuantly, some were still lost.
The Reciprocity has proven herself against all odds now; from her early
dealings with the Tal Shiar, to her victory against the 7th Calvary Attack
Squadron. May her legend continue to grow.

As expected, the Reciprocity and her crew performed well in the combat
drills against the alleged "Great Whites", also known as the 7th Cavalry. The
designation of our rival unit is most puzzling: curious to its origin, I
scanned the Reci's cultural databanks and found that it refers to a barbaric
practice of ancient humans, who formed units called "cavalry", in which the
savages rode into battle on the backs of animals. Failing to see the
connection, I consulted Ensign Ozone, who happened to be standing by. He said
it had something to do with "tradition". Oh well, I digress..
During the drill the bridge crew ruthlessly resorted to various devious
strategems to confound the enemy. Needless to say, I was quite pleased to see
these admirable traits exhibited to such good effect. Our simulated enemy
managed to inflict considerable damage to our systems during the drill, which
is understandable considering their sheer numbers. As to the final outcome of
our little game, I will only say that the Great White Guppies are quite
fortunate that our encounter was only simulated.
Unfortunately, the drill was called to a halt before we could annihilate the
little squadron, due to unforeseen circumstances. The decrepit Soyuz design
appears to have certain tragic flaws: one of the 7th's death rockets, the
Mocba, suddenly suffered a catastrophic systems failure. Therefore, the drill
ended in a real-life emergency; the Mocba's crew abandoned ship in escape
pods as the pride of Mother Russia crashed into a nearby moon. The
pods were endangered by members of the Little Bigrock Meteor Group, which had
an unfortunate tendency to stand in their flight paths. Fortunately, the
Reci's elite crew came to the rescue, magnanimously saving as many as they
could. I might even venture to say that her intrepid crew performed as well
as any in the Romulan Imperial Navy would have done, were such a statement
not an act of treason against Praetor and Empire with a punishment of
corresponding gravity, so of course I would make no such claim!

The crew of the Reciprocity took the shuttle Thames do investigate McGowan
2...a class M planet that had caught their attention during the recent Battle
Drills with the 7th Calvary Fighter Squadron. Long range scans indicated the
planet capable of supporting life but there were some unusual upper
atmospheric readings. Once the shuttle entered the turbulent upper
atmosphere, it was discovered that the
planet did indeed support life. 20 humanoid lifesigns were now registering
on sensors. The atmosphere, seething with electrical and ionic particles,
made more precise ID impossible although Human and Vulcanoid species were
ruled out. It was decided to land the shuttle and investigate from the
surface. Before the shuttle could begin it's descent, it was struck
repeatedly by lightning bolts, knocking out most of the ships main systems.
Shane
Reikson managed to re-route enough power to get partial impulse and thruster
control. Lt Enir was able to keep enough helm control to allow a
"survivable" crash landing.
There were numerous minor injuries but no crew were lost. Sogh
KorotH, Hawke and Voya began the salvage operation in the hopes of being able
to rig a comm system. The remaining crew, under the command of Doc Rolly,
set out to investigate nearby caves for potential shelter and command base.
Once cover has been established, we will investigate the life forms and
attempt to signal the Reciprocity as to our situation.

In orbit around McGowan 2, the Reciprocity's sensors revealed the presence
of 20 scalawags of unknown origin on the surface of the planet, which is
known not to be normally inhabited by humanoid lifeforms. We took an away
team down to the planet's surface to ascertain the identity and intentions of
said scalawags, who must be brought to justice if they've been squatting on
our turf. We had trouble from the outset; an unusual amount of turbulence and
ion activity in the planet's atmosphere forced us to crash land the
shuttlecraft Thames near the location of the unknown humanoids. The AT split
into two parts: one section remained on the Thames to make repairs while my
section went out to find the scalawags. Caught in a severe electrical storm,
we were forced to seek shelter in a cave inhabited by unknown carnivores.
Soon we will continue our search for the squatters or whatever they
are.

Story Log by
Commander Adam Android
Executive Officer
ISS Reciprocity
** This story log is to attempt to "explain" Adam's unannounced absence. In
Real Life I had attempted to relocate from Louisiana to North Carolina. As
it turned out, that move did not pan out and I am returning to Louisiana.
While in North Carolina, I had little or no access to a computer. I had
originally thought that I could get access via my father's or my sister's
computer and continue to sim
and keep up with my Host responsibilities. I was mistaken. Now I am
returning to duty, but thought a good story might help my character explain
why he was unable to maintain his duties as First Officer. **
Adam read the subspace communiqué again even though his positronic net had
already absorbed the information in the first reading. He simply could not
believe what the message stated.
Incredulously, it was from the Tralerian Colony, Adam's homeworld, for
lack of a better term. The Colony was an asteroid-based society located in
the Tralerian Asteroid Field in the fourth orbital tier from the star known
as Tralos. They had made it a point to remain aloof and separate from the
Federation, even though technically, as Terrans, they were members of the
Federation and enjoyed the status of Protectorate.
Adam studied the communiqué again for the third time.

Re: Recall of Tralerian Colony Cybernetics Research Facility
Project Number 9964-983-462
Message Begin:
Commander, it is with some embarrassment that I, as the newly appointed
Director of the Cybernetics Research Facility, must order this Recall of the
above referenced Project, namely, sir, you.
It has come to our attention that several components used in your
construction may have critical flaws. Several servo-motors, some hydraulic
systems, and many of the isolinear circuits used were purchased from a
Ferengi provider, and that Ferengi has recently been arrested by Federation
Agents for the illegal sale of unapproved, sub-standard electronic
components.
It is in the best interests of yourself, your ship, Star Fleet, and the
Federation, for you to return to the Colony for tests and possible removal
and replacement of any sub-standard components.
You may rest assured that all necessary precautions have been and will be
taken to assure the integrity of your systems.
If you would please return to the Colony at your earliest convenience, the
scheduled refit can commence. It is believed that this refit should take
less than ninety days.
I look forward to meeting you.
Respectfully Yours,
Ian Br'k

Adam carefully placed the PADD with the communiqué on it on the desk in
his office and turned to gaze out the forward viewport. Without thinking,
his automatic diagnostic routines kicked in, performing their normal tests of
his uncountable integrated systems. Moments later, the diagnostics were
complete and he had detected no problems. He shook his head and muttered,
"Perhaps my diagnostic routines are themselves
sub-standard."
The emotion-emulating routines that had made his developers so proud and
that made Adam seem almost Human, began eliciting the emotion-like responses
for which they had been designed. Adam began to feel embarrassed that he was
composed of sub-standard parts. He began to doubt himself and his abilities.
Adam quickly decided he must return to the Colony for the check-up and
refit. He decided he should send an Inter-office Memo explaining the need
for his absence, even in the face of all that was going on aboard the
Reciprocity. Then, unbeknownst to Adam, one of the sub-standard parts
failed. His doubts in combination with the news of the recall actually
contributed to the failure of some of the components.
The failed component dealt with his memory. Adam remembered sending the
Inter-office Memo - even though he had not. His memory buffers had a
complete record of the Memo, carefully thought out and worded and distributed
to all of the Department Heads and the Captain and transmitted to Star Fleet
Command, even though the Memo never existed. He turned away from the
viewport, exited his office and proceeded to his quarters where he packed a
few
items. Then he went to the Shuttle Bay.
Once in the Shuttle Bay he quickly checked over one of the Warp-capable
Runabouts, and sent an authorization code to Lieutenant Reikson's Flight
Operations Control Room using his First Officer's Command Codes. The Shuttle
Bay doors immediately began to open. Since he was sure he'd sent the Memo
about his recall, he did not bother anyone on the Bridge with something as
trivial as launching a Runabout. And so, without contacting anyone, Adam
flew
his Runabout out of the Shuttle Bay and back towards the Alpha Quadrant.
Then, once the course was properly laid in and the Warp-Drive engaged,
Adam sat back in the pilot's chair assured that everything was in order. And
suddenly another part failed. Adam, alone in the Runabout, went off-line.

"Recall" - Part Two
by Commander Adam Android
Executive Officer, ISS Reciprocity
Adam's Runabout flew through the Gamma Quadrant, headed for the Bajoran
Wormhole, just as Adam had pre-programmed the computer to do. When it
reached the Wormhole, it automatically emitted the tachyon burst that opened
the 'Hole, and piloted into the precise center of it. Somehow, the Runabout
managed to maintain itself through the Wormhole without intervention and he
emerged on the other side into the control zone of Deep Space Nine.
The very efficient crew of DS9 hailed him as soon as he was out of the
Wormhole. They knew at once that this was a Romulan shuttlecraft, and it was
clearly labeled as having been attached to that unique vessel, the ISS
Reciprocity.
When there was no reply to their hail, and it seemed that the Runabout was
out-of-control, they captured it in a Tractor Beam. But the engines were
still running, trying to continue its course through the Alpha Quadrant to
the Tralerian System. They were forced to shut it down with an
Electro-Magnetic Pulse. They were unaware that the occupant was especially
vulnerable to EMP's.
A Security Team boarded the Runabout as soon as the Tractor Beam had
brought it safely to dock. When they found Adam, wearing the uniform and
pips of a Starfleet Commander, unconscious in the pilot's seat, they summoned
Dr. Julian Bashir and the engineer, Lieutenant Nog.
Bashir had met and studied the android, Data, and Nog had much practical
experience with computer interfaces and such, but neither had ever seen this
android from the Tralerian Colony, even though the Reciprocity had passed
through DS9 several times on its way back and forth to the Gamma Quadrant.
Adam was brought aboard DS9 seemingly little more than inanimate machinery
with a human appearance. He was deposited in one of Bashir's Infirmary
alcoves and Nog and Bashir began the process of trying to discover how to
reactivate the android.
Eventually Nog found the access port under Adam's scalp. His tricorder
showed that the positronic net was intact, but only functioning at minimal
levels. Dr. Bashir suggested they attempt to create an adrenaline effect in
the android - try to stimulate the brain back into activity.
The suggestion made, they had to determine a method. Nog suggested they
simply hook the android into the computer and send a burst of energy through.
Bashir was afraid it might overload the positronic net. He was afraid it
might erase the programming, which would, in effect, make Adam brain-dead.
But Nog was convinced the direct hook-up was the best method. And since
he also determined that the energy levels were very weak and could fail at
any time, they determined that they must make the attempt. But Bashir
insisted that they manage to backup all of the programming they could isolate
and store it in DS9's computer buffer. Nog agreed and they made the
connection.
The computer read data from Adam's brain and stored it in huge blocks in
the main computer. Bashir was impressed at the volume of data retrieved, and
hoped it was enough to rebuild Adam if it became necessary.
"Ready Doctor?" Nog called, finger poised over the button that would send
the energy pulse into Adam's brain.
"Start off slow, Nog, and let's see what happens," Bashir answered. His
bio-readings were hardly understandable. There was something akin to blood
pressure, but the doctor had no idea what was a normal reading for Adam.
There was some kind of respiration, but again, Bashir was unsure if the
android was actually breathing or simply circulating coolant. The internal
body temperature readings were off his scale, but then again, electronic
components generated a lot of heat and those readings could be normal for
this android. The doctor was lost in confusion.
Nog pressed the button and slid it a notch towards the top. Energy began
to flow into Adam's brain and the positronic net began to fire. Adam
dreamed.
