Personal History
Michael was born in Newport, Maine, to parents Commander Stephen and First
Lieutenant Marie Jonas. Both of Michael's parents were Starfleet Engineers
and worked at Earth Station McKinley, where their son spent most of his
childhood. He learned much about repair work and ships' systems, and was
allowed to work on some of the vessels that came into the station starting at
age thirteen.
When Michael turned eighteen, he applied to Starfleet Academy with the
backing of Commodore T'Lar, the officer in charge of McKinley.

BACKGROUND

Hans entered the academy at the age of seventeen with the drive and
motivation few freshmen show. Although Hans did concentrate mostly on his
studies his natural affinity with the concepts and applications of
engineering allowed him a fair amount of time to socialize with his
classmates. Most of this free time was spent with those he would later serve
with in the Corps of Engineers, as he viewed those studying other disciplines
non-compatible
friend material. The areas of security, tactical, and command were the
fields they put the inept cadets, according to Hans. Give them something
really simple and keep them away from anything technical so they don't
accidentally break it. That and to make them feel important give the less
repulsive ones those big chairs and let them pretend to run things. As for
the Medical and Science areas, they were the cadets that were studying with
every free
hour they had. If they weren't over stressing about an upcoming exam or some
assignment, they had their noses buried in some related text. Having to
listen to them talk was almost a bigger chore than feigning obedience to some
blockhead with no neck.
This philosophy was what led Hans to the Corps of Engineers. In fact if the
Corps weren't an active part of Starfleet he probably would never have signed
up for the academy. Although he had never served aboard a starship he knew
he would have hated it.
Hans graduated fourth in his class, falling short only to his more studious
companions. This strange happenstance of engineering students capturing the
top four spots only fueled Hans' arrogance.
Shortly after his graduation he was posted to the Corps of Engineers along
with a number of his friends from the academy. Hans thrived in this new
environment with the engineering focus and swiftly rose through the ranks,
joining the more senior and experienced teams that handled the more risky and
unique missions.
When he reached the rank of Lieutenant Commander, Hans achieved the highest
echelon within the Corps. He was assigned to one of the teams that were
called only for the most difficult and dangerous missions. Hans was now the
elite of the Corps and extremely proud of that fact.
Soon after his assignment he was faced with the inevitable truths that go
hand in hand with being a part of such a team. While inspecting a recently
captured Breen ship six of his crewmates were killed after a well-hidden
explosive detonated. Although very shaken at the loss of his friends Hans
knew that eventually something like that was bound to happen with the
environments he was operating.
In the next couple years only more of the same followed. Hans' share of
successful missions was met by an ever-increasing number of failed ones. As
the risk factor increased so did the casualties. Those of his more lucky
friends began to scare the newer recruits by relaying the death count
surrounding Hans.
Knowing these losses must have reaped terrible tolls on Hans' mind his CO,
in reward for his service, offered to promote Hans to Commander and assign
him to a newly commissioned science vessel. Over the past ten years Hans had
learned a great deal about leadership whether he knew it or not and it had
been showing especially in the recent future. Although honored to have been
given the offer, Hans declined the promotion. He was doing the job he
loved, and would not leave it for anything.
Approximately one year passed when it seemed things seemed to pick up
tremendously. There were far too many jobs for the Corps to handle, and far
too few experienced engineers to handle them. It was at this time when Hans
was assigned to a new team, as executive officer, under Commodore Storm.

Ensign Erin Delaney was born on aucdet IX to Anne and William Delaney,
physicians posted to the medical collection station on that planet. She is
the middle of three children. Her older brother, Lt James Patrick Delaney is
currently posted to the USS Hood on a secret long range mission. The family
has had no contact with James for two years. Erin's younger brother has just
been accepted into Starfleet academy and hopes to someday be a command
officer.

Erin had to study hard in the academy. Although a good student, academics do
not come easy to her. She has never been one to go by the book and is much
more likely to find her own solution to a problem than go the conventional
route. Erin started the academy intending to be a scientist, but changed
majors in her 3rd year after a professor pointed out that her unorthodox use
of problem solving could best be put to use as an
engineer. She received a minor in science and hopes to put both disciplines
to good use in her career.

Well we're still stuck in prison being held by these changeling beings.  They
want Byrk to help them with their enemy,   but they won't let the rest of us
go.  They are telling us that they have brought Byrk back to help them
before.  Some sort of time travel thing.  I sense they aren't being truthful
about these those called enemies,  but we can't get out of this prison to do
anything about it yet.   I think Ray has a plan and  Bu may help with this
plan.

I hate being enclosed like this.  It's driving me nuts plus hearing
everyone's thoughts echo so loudly in my head because of the stress they are
under.  I know these changelings aren't being truthful,  but I don't know
what they are lieing about.  ::sigh::  I hope Ray comes up with something.  I
already picked their brains and I see their so called enemies and I feel
their hatred but I don't understand why they feel the way they do.   ::sits
down
